Like I Would

Last year, Zayn Malik, broke hearts by stepping away from One Direction to pursue his own music. On March 25th, his eagerly anticipated solo album is set to drop. Zayn may be more excited than anyone and to show it, he went big. To commemorate the occasion, Zayn posted a photo with a new tattoo – on his face. M.O.M. supposedly stands for the name of his album, Mind Of Me. Zayn is said to have spent several months on the design. Whether or not you are a fan, one notable critic is well-known tattoo artist, Kevin Paul, whose famous clientele list include fellow 1Der Harry Styles:
Zayn Malik stunned fans when he unveiled his brand new face tattoo on Friday. And tattoo artist to the stars Kevin Paul has now criticised the former One Direction singer’s latest inking for both its placement and quality. Kevin – whose celebrity clients include Ed Sheeran and Zayn’s former bandmate Harry Styles – isn’t a fan of the 23-year-old singer’s daring new body art, a floral design bearing the letters ‘M.O.M’, no doubt referencing his debut solo album, Mind Of Mine.
The talented tattoo artist told the Mirror: ‘The placement is really bad, considering he doesn’t have any other tattoos on his head. I think he’ll end up regretting it and it would be hard to cover up without making the new design a lot bigger and darker.’
Kevin went on to suggest Zayn should have the inking lasered off, which he estimated would cost £600.
Although Zayn, who boasts over 40 tattoos, reportedly spent months planning the artwork, Kevin believes he will live to regret it.
‘Out of everyone in One Direction, Zayn had the best tattoos, but this is not one of them’, the ink master concluded.

Does he plan to print all of his albums on his face? I get that tattoos are personal but I am having trouble with the decision making process here; is this hubris or unbridled enthusiasm? Zayn captioned the Instagram shot with “Like I Would,” the title of his third track to be released from M.O.M. This led many people to wonder if this tattoo is real or a stunt to promote the album (fingers crossed).
Speaking of Like I Would; whereas some applaud him for venturing into a different sound, others felt the song was a bit too familiar, decrying that it is simple a rip-off of 1D’s I Would in both lyrics and tune. However, Zayn sent a tweet crediting new girlfriend, Gigi Hadid, as his inspiration for the song. In the tweet he said, “saw your face and got inspired,” followed by a series of emojis that people like me have trouble figuring out.
I wish Zayn success with his first effort, especially if that tattoo is permanent; M.O.M. will need to go double platinum to justify that.
