Over the weekend, Duchess Kate made her first two public appearances since giving birth to baby Charlotte and debuting the baby publicly. That was May 2nd. And in the month and a half that followed, Kate pretty much lost all of the weight from her second pregnancy. If you really want me to examine her body, I’d say she’s still carrying a few pounds of baby weight, but I’d also say that she looked really good as-is, and she might want to think about staying at this weight because it really softens her face and makes her look younger. Anyway, tons of sites were running “How Did Kate Lose The Baby Weight?” stories over the weekend and now People Magazine has the answer – she hired an expensive London trainer who began working with Kate while she was pregnant!

Skinny jeans six weeks after delivering daughter Charlotte? When you’re Princess Kate, yes. In this week’s cover story, PEOPLE exclusively reveals the secret to her fit form: a top London trainer who worked with the royal mom, 33, throughout her pregnancy.

The trainer, who is popular with an elite clientele of A-listers, royals and executives, “was brought on board while she was pregnant and is super-discreet,” a source tells PEOPLE. “It’s a lot of money, but you get a lot for the price.”

Included in the package is a tailored fitness routine and regular monitoring.

“The trainer checks in remotely with Kate by phone every day as well as seeing her in person once a week,” says the source.

As for diet, Kate – who breastfed Prince George and is likely doing the same with Charlotte – is a clean eater who has always gone heavy on organic fruits, veggies and lean meats. The trainer embraces a similar philosophy – with a high-end twist.

“The food is very elegant and actually feels like food you would eat at a restaurant,” says the source. “The whole program is very sensible – it’s not fad-based and is really focused on your overall health and well-being.”

I don’t know what you want me to say here. On one side, it really sucks that Kate feels she has to be so image-conscious that she can’t even just relax and enjoy the pregnancy and the post-pregnancy time with her children. On the other side, I can only imagine the headlines at the Daily Mail and other media outlets if Kate had dared to leave the house with 20 pounds of “pregnancy weight” still left. Anyway, this “program” sounds like the classic rich-person thing. You spend a crazy amount of money for prepared meals or a private chef cooking to narrow specifications and you’re monitored every damn day about your food intake and exercise. Beyonce, Gwyneth, Tracy Anderson and many more are trying to get into that business too. It’s lucrative if you develop a “program” that works for rich people.
