Prince Andrew attended the coronation in his Garter robes, and he was shuffled to the third row with his daughters, sons-in-law and Prince Harry. I was actually pleased that Andrew and Harry were not seated together, and that Harry was seated next to his favorite cousins and their husbands. People still had feelings about the fact that Andrew was included in the coronation and that King Charles apparently gave Andrew “permission” to wear his Garter robe. As it turns out, Andrew was also “included” in the portrait session back at Buckingham Palace. According to the Telegraph, Andrew requested to be included in the official coronation portraits in the Throne Room, and there are several photos with him in his Garter robe and his regalia, but the palace will likely never release those photos. An insider told the Telegraph: “Andrew wanted to be included in the photoshoot and requested that there would be time in the schedule for him to be photographed. He wanted to make sure there was an official record of his participation in his brother’s Coronation. But it is unlikely the images will be released by the palace.”
So, despite King Charles blatantly briefing the media about how he’s taking a “hardline” approach to his wayward relatives, whatever Andrew wants, Andrew gets. A credibly accused rapist and human trafficker wanted to wear his robe signifying that he’s a member of an ancient order of chivalry, and Charles let him. The same predatory royal wanted to be included in the photos, and Charles let him. Now it looks like Andrew wants to stay put in Royal Lodge too, and he won’t allow Charles to evict him.
Prince Andrew is refusing to vacate his 30-room mansion in a fresh row with the King. Earlier this year it was revealed that Charles was slashing the £250,000 subsidy Andrew received from the late Queen Elizabeth. It meant the Duke of York, 63, would struggle to afford the running costs of Royal Lodge at Windsor, Berks. However, friends of Andrew say the prince is determined to stay put.
One said: “This has been his family home for the last 20 years. Is it really sensible to kick him out? He’s concerned that now the coronation is over, the knives are out. But we’re dealing with human beings, not real estate.”
Andrew and ex-wife Sarah Ferguson’s daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, are regular visitors. Another friend said: ‘Eugenie is heavily pregnant and her parents expect to have the new grandchild there this summer.”
Courtiers widely believe that plans have been drawn up to allow Prince William and his family to eventually move into the vast property. Charles has previously claimed Andrew should move to nearby Frogmore Cottage — Prince Harry and Meghan’s former home.
Palace chiefs were said to have initially set a September deadline to vacate Royal Lodge. However, they now accept that this is too early. Andrew is said to be keen to strike a compromise. A pal said: “If Charles wants Andrew to play ball and help the family, aren’t there better ways of going about it? Why not do the decent thing, sit down and talk? If they need the house for William, perhaps Andrew should be told. Perhaps William should invite his uncle for tea and explain? Or why doesn’t Charles invite his brother for a meeting and ask him if he’d leave Royal Lodge to help his nephew and the future of the monarchy. And agree a schedule acceptable to both sides?”
I suspect that one of two things will happen next. Option #1: Andrew will find a way to whine about it and throw a huge tantrum and he’ll get his way and stay in Royal Lodge, because Charles really didn’t care about evicting him that much, Charles was mostly concerned with evicting Harry and Meghan. In this option, William – who has wanted Royal Lodge for himself for years – would be given some other grand property in Windsor, maybe Frogmore House (which is a palace). Option #2: is that William is the one throwing the bigger tantrum and Charles gives in to William, and Andrew will be shuffled out of Royal Lodge, but the “compromise” will be that Andrew gets a different grand property and he won’t have to move into Frogmore Cottage.
Whenever I cover the catastrophically embarrassing Thomas Markle and Samantha Markle, I always have to remind myself that the Princess of Wales has embarrassing relations too, only Kate’s relations are often being tasked to behave or say certain things to “embiggen” Kate specifically. It would be like Thomas Markle getting talking points from Meghan instead of Piers Morgan. That’s what Gary Goldsmith is like – Gary is Kate’s uncle and Carole Middleton’s brother. Gary is a convicted wife-beater and really dodgy overall. I’m also starting to wonder if none of these people have as much money as they’ve always claimed. I always thought that Gary had quietly financed Carole’s life and the lives of Carole’s children (because Party Pieces never cut it), but given Gary’s overeagerness to (I would assume) get paid to talk sh-t about the Sussexes, I kind of wonder if Gary is just as broke-ass as the Middletons.
Anyway, last December and January, Goldsmith was all over the Daily Mail, crying about how the Duchess of Sussex is “jealous” of Kate, and how Prince Harry’s Spare was full of stories of Meghan being rude to poor Kate and William. Gary was sent out specifically to “refute” the Sussexes’ Netflix series and Harry’s Spare. It didn’t work. Well, now Uncle Gary is here to tell us what to think about Harry’s breezy appearance at the coronation. The Mail gave Gary a byline, like he “wrote” this, but at the end of the piece, the Mail notes: “As told to Claudia Joseph.” So someone else wrote it and Gary just performed it or put his name on it. Some bonkers highlights:
When he saw Prince Harry at the Chubbly: The Waleses – Kate, William and Charlotte and Louis – all looked amazing and were for many of us the most confident and relaxed in this setting. More than could be said of Prince Harry, just a few rows behind, who looked disengaged and like a petulant, sulking teenager.
Kate is the monarchy’s most prized asset: So how has this sporty little girl, who so loved dousing me, her Uncle Gary, in water fights in the Middleton family back garden, become the future Royal Family’s most prized asset? Knowing her like I do, I’d say it is her authenticity. She’s a very genuine person. I don’t think you could pretend to be anything you’re not when you’re in the spotlight for a never-ending period of time. The cracks would show.
Harry is the “brat” according to Gary: There was Harry, awkward personified, behaving like a spoilt brat, flying back to LA that quickly for his son’s birthday party. I mean… you get a birthday every year, whereas your father becoming King is kind of a big deal. He was trying desperately hard to make the day about him and it was absolutely brilliant everybody ultimately ignored him. Harry who?
The evolving Royal Family: My favourite moment of the day was the encore on the balcony when Charles came back out to wave at everybody. It was the first time I had seen his face relax. The tension just dropped away. As for the comment that the balcony was ‘too white’, I’ve never been so offended by something on TV. I think we can all appreciate the fact that the Royal Family is evolving fairly rapidly, and if it’s not Usain Bolt fast enough for everybody, then I think they need to get over themselves – change is obviously happening. Forget Meghan and Harry, the Prince and Princess of Whining. The King and Queen and Prince and Princess of Wales are the new Fab Four.
Again, this is just as embarrassing as any of Thomas Markle’s interviews. The only difference is that Gary has been tasked with flattering William and Kate and he’s doing this with the Windsors’ permission. They want him out there, calling Harry names and saying all of this crap. It’s also still kind of amazing that everyone from Gary Goldsmith to the royal reporters to Prince William’s leaky office are all still singularly focused on Harry’s quickie coronation appearance. “Harry who?” The Harry you can’t stop talking about. Harry wasn’t sulking either – he looked like a king in his Dior suit, and all eyes were on him, nationally and internationally. Anyhoodle, is Gary Goldsmith desperate for cash or something? It’s pathetic that he keeps getting rolled out to bash the Sussexes.
Chase Sui Wonders is a relative newcomer to Hollywood at 26-years-old. She was in Bodies, Bodies, Bodies, during which she met and began dating Pete Davidson. She is a nepo-baby (niece of Anna Sui) and has two projects coming out this month — City on Fire on Apple TV+ and she’s playing Pete’s girlfriend in Bupkis, the fictionalized series about his life on Peacock. Chase spoke to Nylon about her life and career plans and relationship with Pete. Some highlights:
On getting into acting (and being a nepo baby): “I was cripplingly shy [as a kid]; I didn’t really speak outside of my house, for undiscovered reasons,” Wonders says, drinking a cup of black coffee (an objectively cool order) at Soho Diner. “My mom was like, ‘We’ve got to do something about this.’ So she took me to community theater and made me audition for The Wizard of Oz.” Things didn’t go great for Wonders that day. “I couldn’t speak; I couldn’t say anything.” Neither Wonders nor her mother would give up. She continued auditioning, landing her first spot in the chorus at 14, then a single-line part the year after that. Despite a scathing review of her one role in a college play, she kept at it, and her first gig post-graduation was a cameo in Sofia Coppola’s 2020 film On the Rocks. (This wasn’t the first time they worked together: Coppola, a close friend of Wonders’ aunt, fashion designer Anna Sui, cast her in a Calvin Klein campaign she directed in 2017.)
On dating Pete Davidson: Despite her relationship becoming news at the same time that her career is taking off, Wonders is not caught up in the headlines, which she credits to a very supportive partnership. “We talk about everything, and we are very open with each other about everything, and it feels like what’s happening in our relationship is very sacred,” she says. “The first initial shock was super disorienting, but after that it just becomes … it’s like a video game. It feels like another weird player came into the video game. I feel like I’m still on my own path. My life hasn’t changed that much.”
On the “cool girl trope” and her career plans: “Obviously I’m playing characters, but I like to bring a rawness and a naturalism to my performances,” she says. “I feel like they’re very heart-on-the-sleeve. They’re not your typical ‘manic pixie dream girl’ or ‘quirky girl.’ I think they don’t easily fit into a stereotype, which I’m proud of.” In the future, she is looking forward to taking the “cool girl” trope she’s explored and turning it on its head. “I want to continue crafting these roles where women are one degree off, or they’re a little off-kilter, or they’re not perfectly charming. I love a flawed girl,” she adds. But as we established upon meeting, that label of cool hasn’t always come naturally to her. So, how would she describe herself instead? “I’m very present. I’m funny. I’m always doing bits. I’m always in the ‘riff zone,’ which can be frustrating to some who don’t want to enter the riff zone at certain times. I like to put on a show. I like to bring the fun,” she says.
I came away from this article feeling like Chase Sui Wonders (such a great name) very much wants to be seen as the “cool girl” despite all her protestations to the contrary. Being the “cool girl” isn’t really, well, “cool” anymore and has been throughly debunked as something that mainly appeals to men. Even in the article’s intro she claims to be a tomboy because she hung out in boys’ hockey locker rooms in Detroit — like, what? But I guess she’s young and maybe that stuff seems cool to her because she was so shy when she was younger. I don’t know, Chase seems harmless. I also love The OC and rollerblading, so I’ll give her that. The video game analogy about her relationship with Pete is funny and totally what a cool girl who plays video games would say. Maybe Chase and Pete will be one of his longer relationships. They seem better matched than him and Kim K or Kate Beckinsale.
The Duchess of Sussex has been pap’d twice within one week. The first papping was on Sunday, May 7th, when she was out hiking with friends in Montecito. Then on Friday, May 12th, Meghan and Harry were photographed by TMZ as they went out to dinner. What’s different? I seriously doubt that these are the first times that Harry and Meghan have left their home in months. My guess is that H&M simply aren’t bothered by the possibility of getting photographed right now. It’s a brand-new era for them. They got their Netflix docuseries out. Harry’s Spare might be the biggest nonfiction bestseller of the year. They got through the coronation drama. So it’s a new chapter, and they’re like “we outside!”
Harry & Meghan Grab Sushi, Pregnancy Rumors Seemingly Debunked https://t.co/dkPCPsyDvl
— TMZ (@TMZ) May 13, 2023
They look happy and healthy. I love Harry’s outfit – it’s very rich-guy weekender. Meghan’s outfit is cute too. I love that she’s wearing casual minidresses (I think that’s what this is). I love her sandals/slides and I love her purse. Let me look for the IDs on Meg’s pieces… the dress is Heidi Merrick, the purse is the Cesta Collective Bucket Bag and people think her sandals are Hermes. Rich California mama vibes. I hope this was just one dinner date to celebrate Mother’s Day, and Harry had a whole weekend planned.
As for their dinner date, they went to Sushi Bar, a local restaurant within the Montecito Inn, close to their home. You can see the menu here (I really had to hunt for it) – it has a diverse selection of sushi, obviously, and a huge wine, saki and cocktail menu. They brought security, according to TMZ, and their SUV (with a bodyguard driver) was waiting for them as they left Sushi Bar. TMZ is making a big deal about how this proves that Meghan isn’t pregnant. Was that really a rumor? Y’all need to let Meghan breathe! She’s done having babies.
Roya Nikkhah at the Sunday Times had kind of bonkers story about Prince William this weekend. Make no mistake, this has come directly from Kensington Palace, with what I can only imagine were several briefings from senior staffers just days after King Charles’s coronation. The timing is everything – with the ink barely dry on Charles’s throne lease agreement, William is already “thinking” about HIS coronation and how it will be much different than his father’s. We all knew this was coming, by the way – William and Charles openly briefing against each other. For months now, it’s already been happening, but mostly the briefing war has been directed at and about the subject of Prince Harry. Now Charles and William are turning on each other and it’s kind of sad, pathetic and hilarious. Some highlights:
William is already thinking about how to “evolve” his coronation: After playing a key role in last Saturday’s lavish ceremony, Prince William has started thinking about how to “evolve” the ancient ceremony when he succeeds his father. Unlike the King, William will not include a “homage of the people”. At Charles’s service, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, invited the congregation at Westminster Abbey and those watching the service around the world to swear their allegiance to the King, his “heirs and successors” — a decision that prompted widespread controversy. A source close to William said: “There is no way he will go down that route or anything like it.”
Peg’s reflections: William has been carefully “reflecting” on the events of last week with his closest friends and advisers. A source close to the prince said: “He is really thinking, how do we make his coronation feel most relevant in the future? He is mindful of the fact that in 20 years’ time, or whenever his time comes, how can the coronation be modern but also unifying to the nation and the Commonwealth? I think his coronation will look and feel quite different.”
No formal Bridge plans: The source added: “Are courtiers sitting at Kensington Palace coming up with a grand plan about what the next Bridge will look like [London Bridge was the codeword for the late Queen’s death, and Forth Bridge for Prince Philip]? No. But of course the prince and his team are reflective about the events of last week and it is extremely important to him that it evolves to be relevant whenever it happens.”
William didn’t plan jacksh-t at his father’s coronation: It is understood that, contrary to some reports, William was not closely consulted on the planning for Charles’s coronation. The prince, who will be known as King William V, is thought to be committed to being crowned at Westminster Abbey, where every British monarch’s coronation has been held since William the Conqueror’s in 1066.
But what about William’s Prince of Wales investiture? Those close to him point to his decision not to have an investiture as Prince of Wales as an indicator of how William will continue to break with tradition as heir to the throne. In July 1969, Charles had a coronet placed on his head by his mother in a ceremony at Caernarfon Castle in north Wales that looked medieval in parts. A source close to William said he was focused on the issue of “relevance”. The source said: “You can see it in how he has taken having an investiture off the table, and his thinking on how to leave a legacy in communities rather than just going in [to] do ribbon cutting. You can see it in how he is running an environmental prize with Earthshot that is not just about handing cash out, but about the long-term impact globally. He is thinking about his coronation in the same way.”
Commonwealth concerns: Another source close to William said: “He’s taking stock, he’s thinking ‘that was a supreme success and it was because Pa altered things. I’ve got to be cognisant of how that evolution happens in my day. What is it that stays? What do I need to change? What will our relationships with the realms and the Commonwealth be then?’ I don’t think he’ll be taking the filleting knife to it, but he will be checking it is sharp.”
While this is macabre – planning for his father’s death just days after his father’s coronation – I also think that over the next few months, of course Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace will start to put together plans for the next “big” thing, the death of King Charles and William’s coronation. That’s the nature of the monarchy – they plan out everything, they write their plans down, they prepare decades in advance. The Queen Mum and Prince Philip both had their funeral plans organized decades before their deaths, as did QEII. Charles was tweaking his coronation plans for many, many years. The fact that there are already plans to make a plan isn’t shocking. What’s shocking is that William didn’t even wait a full week before having his office brief Roya Nikkhah about how HE will do things differently.
Now, do I also find it hilarious that even Peg’s own office is confessing that William had nothing to do with his father’s coronation? Yes. It’s amazing. How f–king lazy is William? He was supposed to be part of the planning committee. Guess he had rose bushes to tend to. And I’m so curious about the PoW investiture. Will it even happen??
Taylor Swift performed in Philadelphia last Friday, at a sold-out concert at Lincoln Financial Field. Guess who was there? Taylor’s new boyfriend, Matt Healy. Matt and Taylor – Swealy – were in Nashville together two weekends ago, then they traveled to New York, where they were seen out and looking loved up. They were making out and holding hands and this sh-t has been happening for a while. The Snake Fam knows it’s been happening for a while too, which is why Taylor’s fans are so unsettled. Taylor really dumped Joe Alwyn at the same time she was starting something with Healy, a guy who has the (deserved) reputation as kind of a racist a–hole. Well, that a–hole was in Philly for his lady:
Matty Healy was spotted taking in Taylor Swift’s concert in Philadelphia Friday night – just days after they were spotted packing on the PDA in New York City. An eagle-eyed fan caught a glimpse of the 1975 rocker in the crowd and took a quick video.
Standing near Healy was Swift’s pal Blake Lively, who reportedly brought along three of the kids she shares with Ryan Reynolds: James, 8, Inez, 6, and Betty, 3.
The sighting of Lively comes on the heels of notorious funny guy Reynolds seemingly teasing Swift about her romance with Healy. On his Instagram Story Wednesday, the “Deadpool” star, who has been friends with Swift for years, shared a selfie of himself set to the 1975’s hit song “Chocolate.” He added the words “Zoom Zoom” to the post and left it at that.
LOL. If I hadn’t looked up Healy’s history of racism and gross behavior, I would actually think it was kind of cool that Taylor’s new boyfriend is acting like a full-on groupie for his girl. Oh well! Interestingly enough, Taylor seems really, really into Healy. And she wants people to know that she’s really into him too, thus her people are briefing People Mag:
It’s been an enchanting time for Taylor Swift and Matty Healy. Amid rumors of a romance, the musicians were spotted spending time with pal Jack Antonoff at New York City’s Casa Cipriani on Thursday. Photos posted to social media showed Swift, 33, and Healy, 34, holding hands at the members-only venue.
“Taylor is happy. She’s very focused on her tour but is enjoying hanging out with Matty when she is off,” a source tells PEOPLE. Adds another insider: “They’re hanging out and having a good time. It’s not just platonic.”
I love how extra she is – “it’s not just platonic”!!! Girl, we know. No man is going to haul his ass to Nashville and Philly just to see your show for a platonic friendship. I guess this is the issue with Taylor and her fans – so many of her fans are really young, so it means something to them when she’s gently telling them “it’s not platonic.” She has to gently spell it out for them.
Meagan Good finalized her divorce almost a year ago. She was married to DeVon Franklin, a preacher, for nine years. She was truly a preacher’s wife, and she was always held up as “a good Christian woman” who won the respectability-politics lottery. Once her marriage fell apart, Meagan came back on the scene a little bit, and she made news when she started posting sexier photos on her social media accounts. People have been waiting to see who she would date post-divorce. I don’t think anyone expected this. TMZ reported exclusively that Meagan is now dating Jonathan Majors, whose last relationship ended when he assaulted his girlfriend. Majors is currently facing felony and misdemeanor charges related to domestic violence.
Jonathan Majors is still in the throes of a tricky legal situation, but he’s been able to find some time for love … TMZ has learned the actor recently started dating Meagan Good. Sources with direct knowledge tell us, over the course of the last several weeks, Jonathan and Meagan have gotten close, and the relationship is “fairly new.” What’s more, a witness tells us they were at the Alamo Drafthouse in L.A. last weekend to see a movie … so it’s not like they’re hiding the fact they’re hanging out.
It’s unclear how serious the relationship is, but we’ve reached out to reps for Meagan and Jonathan. So far, no word back.
Of course, Majors continues to fight criminal charges in NYC — 3 counts of attempted assault as well as assault, one count of aggravated harassment, and a separate count of harassment. Majors had a court hearing earlier this week where his legal team hoped the D.A. would drop some, if not all, of the charges … but they all remain.
My gut says that this is not coming from Meagan Good or her people whatsoever, this is coming from Jonathan Majors and his people. I suspect that he wouldn’t blatantly lie about every part of it, but I want to believe that Meagan has the good sense not to “date” him. I have no idea though. I would like to say this though: how sh-tty is Jonathan Majors’ PR? I realize that he has been dumped by his management team and so he probably doesn’t have professional PR anymore. But truly, anyone with any kind of sense would tell him not to be seen out on dates just six weeks after he was arrested for beating and choking his live-in girlfriend.
Throughout the coronation weekend, the Prince and Princess of Wales’s social media team posted a handful of short little behind-the-scenes videos of the Wales family. The Kensington Royal team has been making and posting these “fancams” (as I call them) for at least two years, which is so funny to me because… these are not authentic fancams, made by royalist fans using publicly-accessible videos. These are made entirely in-house, a move to provide literal style over substance, all exclusive palace-made footage, edited together using flashy jump-cuts and commercial-grade filler music. Well, the coronation provided the Waleses to do something new: invite a professional videographer/commercial director named Will Warr into their lives for the weekend and make a real “short film” about them. And by short film, I mean… this is just a five-minute commercial with quick edits of exclusive behind-the-scenes footage.
Some of this is interesting – the angles chosen within Kensington Palace are careful not to show the racist art William and Kate have on display in their living room, racist art which Kate hand-picked from the Royal Collection. It was nice to see Charlotte and Louis looking excited for the crowning. But… as I said, style over substance. From an artistic perspective, it would have worked better as a mini-documentary, with Kate and William speaking to camera about how they felt during this part of the coronation or how much fun they had at the Big Lunch or whatever. You know, a personal touch, because that’s why they arranged a commercial director to come into their home and film them?
As many have pointed out, for all of the screaming, crying and throwing up over the Sussexes possibly filming anything in Frogmore Cottage for their Netflix docu-series, William and Kate seem super-eager to go Full Kardashian and give commercial access to their family life, albeit in a tightly controlled way.
Just over a month ago, while filming Back In Action, Jamie Foxx was hospitalized for a “medical complication”. That’s what his daughter Corrine called it. The details of what happened remain a mystery. As the weeks passed, rumors started to circulate that Jamie Foxx was still in trouble. Now his daughter Corrine is putting those rumors to rest on Instagram:
Corrine Foxx’s statement: “Update from the family: Sad to see how the media runs wild. My Dad has been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating. In fact, he was playing pickleball yesterday! Thanks for everyone’s prayers and support. We have an exciting work announcement coming next week too!”
Nick Cannon is filling in for Jamie on Beat Shazam: Fox — the network, not the person — announced last week that Nick Cannon would be filling in as host on the show until the family Foxx returns. “Beat Shazam has been an unscripted mainstay on the Fox schedule for six seasons and counting. This season, not wanting fans of the game show to miss a minute of the fun, Nick Cannon has offered to fill in as guest host for his friends, Jamie and Corinne Foxx. Kelly Osbourne will be filling in as guest DJ. Everyone at Fox Entertainment wishes Jamie well as he continues his recovery and we greatly appreciate Nick’s willingness to jump in and help this summer,” Fox said in a statement.
His upcoming film release got pushed back: The animated Strays, featuring the voices of Foxx and Will Ferrell, was recently moved from June 9 to Aug. 18, back-filling a date vacated by Universal’s R-rated comedy Please Don’t Destroy. The WGA Strike is partly the reason for Strays‘ move. Also, though, an original bawdy comedy like that requires all the late night TV talk show promotion it can get, and Foxx is one of the best there is at such promotion.
I’m relieved that Jamie is out of the hospital and recovering. Reading between the lines it sounds like whatever happened, it was serious. The only clue I could find about it is how people talked about his recovery. People mentioned multiple times that he was awake again–Nick Cannon told ET he was “awake” and “alert,” and an unnamed source told TMZ that he was “communicating now”. This suggests that at some point, he may have been unresponsive. That must have been terrifying for his family and I’m glad he pulled through. What’s weird is that press reports got it so wrong. There were rumors that his family was preparing for the worst, when he’s apparently out and about playing pickleball. (Off topic but is pickleball trending right now? My mom just started playing it for the first time and she hates sports.)
Jamie’s hospital stay came after some alleged on-set drama. The Sun reported in March that he had a “major meltdown” and fired an executive producer, two directors, and his driver. Since the story’s from The Sun I’m taking it with a grain of salt. Taylor Swift may give them the scoop about her boyfriends, but otherwise I don’t trust them that much. I don’t think Jamie is known for being uncooperative on set, it sounds out of character for him. Maybe he had completely legitimate reasons for firing those people, although firing the driver seems kind of random. I think it’s possible that Jamie is experiencing a lot of stress and that’s why he (allegedly) went off on these people. I checked his IMDB and he has four projects slated for release this year, plus five other TV and movie projects in various stages of development. With that many projects, I would be stressed, too. I’m glad Nick Cannon is filling in for Jamie on his TV show so he can continue to rest and recover. And I wonder what the “exciting work announcement” is going to be.

Jeremy Allen White and his wife Addison Timlin are getting divorced after three years of marriage. She filed last week. They’ve been married since 2019, but have been together a lot longer than that and share two young daughters. It’s unclear what precipitated the split, but it seems rather sudden given that they were gushing about each other on online and in speeches just a couple of months ago.
Jeremy Allen White’s wife Addison Timlin has filed for divorce, PEOPLE has confirmed.
Timlin filed for divorce on Thursday, according to court documents.
The pair have been together for well over three years. They married in 2019 and share two children. Their first daughter Ezer was born in 2018 and their second daughter Dolores was born in 2020.
White and Timlin’s reps did not immediately return PEOPLE’s request for comment on Thursday night.
The 32-year-old star of The Bear talked about how “grateful” he is for his wife in his acceptance speech at the 2023 Golden Globes. “Addison Timlin, I love you deep in my bones, thank you for all that you do, thank you for everything that you’ve done,” he said.
After the awards show Timlin shared an emotional note on Instagram about her love for her husband. “When we were 14 years old and I saw you perform for the first time in drama class, I couldn’t take my eyes off of you,” she wrote in the caption of a photo of White holding his Golden Globe. “When we’d run your lines for Shameless I’d be so tickled knowing beforehand what everyone would get to witness the next day on set.”
“When I watched the pilot for The Bear, I cried my f—ing heart out,” she wrote. “I think somewhere I must’ve known how much life was about to change, but mostly I just knew that the world was about to discover what I’ve known all along. What a privilege it’s been to know first.”
Timlin, 31, and White starred together in the 2008 psychological drama Afterschool. In 2020, in an Instagram post, she called White her “best friend of 15 years, who happens to be the love of my life.”
Last August when PEOPLE asked White what Timlin thinks of all the online thirst for him he said with a laugh, “I don’t know,” adding, “I think we’re both pretty good at not paying too much attention. I’m not on Twitter. I have an Instagram, but I mostly use it for work. I have a pretty healthy distance from it all. And my wife does as well. So I think that’s a good thing.”
This was pretty surprising news. I watched all 11 seasons of Shameless as it aired and was aware that real life Jeremy was the exact opposite of his character in that he seemed to have a stable long-term relationship. Despite his position as a young actor, he never seemed gossipy in the slightest. But Jeremy was third lead on Shameless for most of its run and now he’s blowing up more with popularity of The Bear and how good he looks in that white tee and apron. That sort of success and exposure for one part of a couple can be difficult when both are actors. But Jeremy and Addison have also known each other since they were in high school and they’re only in their early 30s now, so maybe they just grew apart. But the fact that she filed, seemingly abruptly, and the absence of a joint statement… Maybe there’s more to the story there.
