I have a renewed respect for Sofia Vergara with the way she’s handling the Nick Loeb situation. Loeb is SO THIRSTY. Loeb is currently suing Sofia, his ex-fiancée, for “custody” of the embryos they created while they were together. Loeb has also been waging an uncomfortably stalkerish campaign against Sofia in the press, basically accusing her of being an awful person because she didn’t and doesn’t want to have babies with him and he’s come thisclose to accusing her of child abandonment because she simply wants to their mutually-agreed-upon contract to be honored.
Earlier this week, Sofia appeared on Howard Stern’s show and of course Stern asked her about the situation. I’m paraphrasing, but Sofia was basically like “We have a valid contract and why doesn’t he just make a baby with someone else?” Then today, Sofia appeared on a pre-taped Good Morning America interview. And she goes even harder.
Sofia Vergara and Nick Loeb squared off on the morning talk shows Thursday in their battle over their frozen embryos – with the Modern Family actress labeling her ex-fiancé an opportunist and Loeb claiming he just wants protect two lives that “have already been created.”
Vergara, 42, told Good Morning America that the embryos are a non-story, legally speaking, and she criticized Loeb, 39 – and the press – for bringing a private matter into the public eye.
“I’ve been working very hard for 20 years to get to this point where I am,” she said. “I promote all my movies, all my work, but I don’t like promoting my private life. And I don’t want to allow this person to take more advantage of my career and try to promote himself and get press for this.”
She seemed dumbfounded about why Loeb is getting any press – much less a New York Times op-ed – about the matter. The two signed an agreement, after all, that both must consent in order to bring to term the embryos they created together when they were a couple in 2013.
“Why is the press allowing somebody to invent things and create press for himself?” she asked. “He’s not an actor. He’s not a celebrity. It’s like, why?” She added: “This shouldn’t be out there for people to give their opinion when there’s nothing to talk about. There’s papers signed … I don’t understand why the media is allowing a person to just try to put me down, and make it like something is happening when nothing is happening.”
On Today, meanwhile, Loeb said he never believed Vergara “was going to change her mind” about the embryos, and that he’d be happy to raise the kids as a single father.
“It has nothing to do with whether it’s her baby or a baby,” he said. “Lives were already created … I wouldn’t toss them aside.”
He’s not asking Vergara to take financial responsibility for the children, he added. “I’ve offered to her to waive all financial responsibilities,” he said. “I want these children to have the best lives possible … There’s nothing more that I want to do than bring these children to life.”
In closing, both of them claimed they’re not overly bitter about what’s happening.
“I think Sofia is a wonderful, wonderful woman,” Loeb said. “I don’t hate her at all.”
For her part, Vergara mentioned how happy she is with Joe Manganiello, and how blessed she is to have such a successful career. “I’m not sad. I’m grateful,” she said. “I have to enjoy what I’m living right now.”

God, Loeb is such a manipulative, craven tool. And Sofia is – I feel – reading the situation correctly. There’s a valid contract. The end. Except the whole story has become a toxic blend of celebrity, politics, reproductive law, and media bias. Loeb wants it that way too, because this whole thing feels like he’s trying to “punish” Sofia for breaking up with him. It’s gross. And I’m glad she’s standing up for herself.

Audiences first fell in love with Melissa Joan Hart on her hit show Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. Now, fans can see the mom-of-three, 39, on the upcoming final season of Melissa & Joey.
The actress opens up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about her new boys clothing line King of Harts which she co-created with husband Mark Wilkerson, their three sons Mason, 9, Brady, 7, and Tucker, 2, and her upcoming Mother’s Day plans.
CBS: We love that you and Mark have teamed up to create King of Harts. What’s it like working with your hubby? What’s been the biggest surprise/shock working with him on this clothing line?
MJH: “It’s like having a 4th child when you collaborate on a project like this. We both have strong opinions and voices and have to find appropriate places to compromise and pick up the slack. It’s hard not to step on each others’ toes or take things personal, but after 9 years of being parents together we have a good idea of how to make it work.”
CBS: Tell us how part of the proceeds is donated to charity. Do your boys understand how the family business is helping out kids in need?
MJH: “We take our boys often to do charitable work. Whether it’s making a meal at the mission, or donating books and clothes and toys, they are learning that there are people not as fortunate. They have started adding in their prayers that they are very grateful for the roof over their heads, food in their bellies and clothes on their backs.
King of Harts donates clothing to Youth Villages programs around the country. Nothing makes someone feel better about themselves than having some cool new duds to wear to school and camp. We will be making a trip soon to bring another box of goodies to the kids.”
CBS: Tell us about some of your favorite pieces in King of Harts. What do you love about the line?
MJH: “I love the Tucker camo short. It’s so cool and comfy for picky kids like mine to put on. The Gosman chambray is my top choice for some of life’s nicer moments like school pictures or family visits. And the lobster tee is adorable and a fan favorite with our signature lime-yellow collar raglan and quirky lobster with sunglasses graphic.”
CBS: How are your boys doing? What are they into these days? Are they getting excited for summer? Do you have them registered in summer camps/activities?
MJH: “Big moments for all of them. Tucker is potty training which is always a delight. Brady is becoming a great reader and losing teeth, and Mason is very interested in American history after our recent trip to Washington, D.C. They will do a fun outdoor camp in Lake Tahoe this summer where we spend a lot of time. Tahoe inspired our back to school fall line that is soon to be seen.”
CBS: What are your upcoming Mother’s Day plans?
MJH: “We will stay home as a family with our neighbors – the husbands will BBQ while the kids run around and play. It’s the perfect hassle-free fun family day.”
CBS: What’s up next for you?
MJH: “King of Harts has my full love and attention right now, but I guest starred on NBC’s Mysteries of Laura which airs on May 13th. My Nutrisytem ads are running now to help people get in shape for the summer, and the final season of Melissa & Joey starts airing June 17th on ABC Family.”

I feel like we should just take this in all week, all of these royal stories. Because there’s going to be a real royal drought this summer. Well, let me say this: we’re probably not going to be seeing much of Duchess Kate for the rest of the year. Just weeks before she gave birth, a “source” leaked to People Mag that Kate wanted to take a longer “maternity leave” this time around, as opposed to the couple of public appearances she did months after she gave birth to George. So, come June and July and August… we probably won’t have any new Kate stories or Kate photos.
Even now, there’s really not much going on post-baby. Princess Charlotte of Cambridge is here. Will, Kate and the kids spent Charlotte’s first days holed up at Kensington Palace. People Mag says they’ve “been enjoying nice, private family time.” A source says: “They are very settled, his job is set, they have their house, and the status quo hasn’t changed in the royal family at large. So they are looking forward to a period of calm.”
They did leave for Anmer Hall on Wednesday, surprising no one. The only surprise was that they waited this long to decamp to Anmer Hall. That’s where they’ll be for the rest of the year, if not the next few years. Unless William decides that he’s bored with being a pilot again. I’m assuming – from multiple reports before the birth – that Carole and Michael Middleton will probably be living with Will and Kate for much of the summer too. Which is a change from last time, when Kate and George stayed at her parents’ home for months after George’s birth. People Magazine also says that Kate “is not planning on adding any extra help.” Just the nanny, the housekeeper, the cook, the private hairstylist and her parents. And like a dozen other people too.
What else? People Mag has more quotes about Anmer Hall and how great it is: “It’s like a fancy farmhouse. It isn’t grandiose. But it’s a great, friendly family environment.” It isn’t grandiose… except for the £500,000 worth of landscaping, millions in renovations, including ripping out a perfectly beautiful new kitchen.
Oh, and William will be returning to work on June 1st. And by that I mean he restarts his training to eventually become an air ambulance pilot.

Have you watched Mindy Kaling’s “Unlikely Leading Lady” American Express commercial? Go here to watch it. I get choked up watching it. Maybe it’s because I’m an Indian-American girl too, but I think Mindy is a very inspirational person. I hate the hate she’s gotten over the years because she “dared” to see herself as a leading lady, because she “dared” to not be a size-2 white woman, because she “dared” to talk about her art rather than her perceived victimhood. I just admire her and relate to her on a lot of different levels.
I watch The Mindy Project too – it had some growing pains in the first season, but by the second and third seasons, TMP was easily one of the funniest, sweetest and most unapologetically romantic shows on TV. The core relationship – between Mindy and Chris Messina’s characters – was always perfect. They have an incredible amount of chemistry together and their on-screen relationship is beautifully written. TMP has always struggled, ratings-wise, but I always thought Fox fully supported the show. I kept hearing that TMP was “on the bubble” and might not get a fourth season on Fox, but I just thought (naively), “That won’t happen!” It happened. Fox canceled TMP. But Hulu might pick it up?
Fox has decided not to move forward with “The Mindy Project,” after three seasons, Variety has learned. However, Hulu is in talks with Universal Television, the studio behind the Mindy Kaling-starrer, to move the Fox comedy over to the streaming service for multiple seasons. The deal would reportedly include two new seasons, and possibly more.
The shift to Hulu would be a smart move, given the already-standing library of past “Mindy” seasons, including all 67 episodes, plus the series’ very loyal — but not very large — fanbase. The series premiered to an audience of about 4.6 million in September 2012 and dipped to just over 2 million viewers with its season-three premiere this past March.
As series’ fates will be decided by next week when broadcast upfront presentations kick off, most cancelled shows will wrap for good, but “The Mindy Project” recalls another fan-favorite comedy resurrected online: “Community,” which, after being axed by NBC, went to Yahoo Screen for its sixth season.

If the Hulu deal goes through – and I’m hoping it does – I will watch TMP on Hulu. The Season 3 cliffhanger was a wonderful game-changer and I loved the fact that the Mindy character has been “allowed” to evolve into a much more mature woman.
Spoilers: when Danny told Mindy he didn’t want to marry her – even though she was pregnant with his child – she cried and stood up for herself and what SHE wanted out of the relationship… and then she went back to Danny’s apartment and fell asleep. Meanwhile, Danny flew to India to meet her parents and presumably ask for their blessing to ask for Mindy’s hand in marriage. I want to know what happens next, damn it!
This was Mindy’s reaction to the cancellation – she’s on vacation in Montana:
Hey guys, I’m in Montana, is anything happening in LA? #themindyproject
