On tour but also training for next Armani shoot! Staying in a gym routine while on the road is tricky, but as long as you don’t drink, eat well, sleep enough and take one of those mad little ab rollers with u everywhere you’ll be good

Lord help me, but I find Calvin Harris attractive. I remember when he was just a skinny kid from Scotland, the wunderkind writer/producer who seemed shy and not into the limelight. And then he grew comfortable with the attention. And he started working out a lot. And now he posts lots of photos of his hot body on Instagram. Calvin Harris is the face/body of Emporio Armani these days, which means he poses in his underwear a lot. Would you hit it? I would. It’s the body AND the Scottish accent. I can’t help it.
But that’s actually not the point of this story. The point of the story is… would Taylor Swift hit it? For weeks – possibly months? – there have been rumors about a possible situation involving Swifty and Harris. He had a girlfriend until recently, and Swifty was doing her “NO BOYS” thing. But now that Harris is single and ready to mingle, could it be that Swifty swooped in? Behold, a photo of Calvin and Swifty together in Nashville this week! LOOK AT HOW THEY MATCH.

Could this just be a music collaboration of some kind? Sure. But just know… Calvin does have a history of romancing the singers he works with. And if it’s not a musical collaboration, then does this mean that they’re totally hitting it? If I was Swifty… yes, I would be into it. Perhaps not for a long-term situation (I mean, she’s about to go on tour, so she’s pretty busy), but as a friends-with-benefits thing? Yes. Totally.

Jaime King has been especially active on social media and print media lately, or maybe we’re just paying attention to her now. It does feel like Jaime is suddenly everywhere though, right? I’m not complaining – I thought her recent interview about her struggles to conceive her first child was heartbreaking and informative. She’s also been trying to get people to be nicer in general on social media, which has led to some interesting disasters (but she means well). Anyway, Jaime spoke to Elle in a wide-ranging interview about body image, pregnancy and how Taylor Swift is going to be her new baby’s godmother. You can read the full piece here. The most interesting part (I thought) was Jaime talking about how we judge pregnant women and her defense of Kim Kardashian.
Why she invited people to comment on her pregnant body last week: “Because that’s all people do all day is comment. They just say whatever the f–k they want to say, and they don’t actually think that it’s going hurt me.”
When she started to notice the body-commenting on pregnant women: “At the Met’s Costume Institute Gala with Kim Kardashian when she was pregnant [in 2013]. She was with Kanye, but she wasn’t fully accepted by the fashion industry. Riccardo Tisci was very brave in dressing her. Anna Wintour had invited her to the Met ball, which is a big deal and a big step up for her. But when she was pregnant [there], I remember going back in my hotel room and crying for like five hours because I kept seeing all these things come up online, all of these horrible pictures and GIFs. I couldn’t stop crying because here was this beautiful glowing pregnant woman who is probably so excited to be attending the Met ball for the first time with the man that she loved, and she had this beautiful dress made for her that was very daring and very gorgeous, and she has a beautiful growing child inside of her, and yet everybody bashed her and called her a whale or said she looked like a couch or drapes.
Online bullying affects mental health: “It was so stunning to me that people thought that that was okay—not only okay but they condoned it. They would retweet it, they would talk about it, they would put it on the Internet, they would call her a whale on the cover of a magazine. They would not even think about the way it would affect her mental health and the child’s health. It emotionally tapped into a place for me because I was newly pregnant [with my first child]. What kind of world are we living in now where this is okay, where our bodies are being essentially sold to the highest bidder regarding their comments and that we are just put up on a cross to be persecuted?
[From Elle]
I agree with her to a certain extent, and I always try to give pregnant women (in particular) the benefit of the doubt when it comes to styling, etc. I try to balance that with what I think are completely okay and legitimate conversations about fashion. I mean, she’s talking about Kim Kardashian at the Met Gala. A reality star who thrives on every kind of attention, good or bad, at arguably the biggest fashion event of the year. Obviously, we were going to talk about Kim’s dress, pregnant or not. And you know what? I still think it was a bad dress and Kim styled it poorly. I think it was particularly bad because she was pregnant, and Ricardo Tisci should have understood that the particular floral would not look great on a pregnant woman.
But… Jaime is talking around another legitimate point, which is the increasing phenomenon of a pregnant woman not being allowed to “own” her own body, culturally or legally. The legislation around pregnancy, reproductive rights and abortion grows more disturbing by the day, and this is a symptom: that pregnant women are seen as public property.

Here are some photos of beautiful Idris Elba being beautiful last week in London. He was filming Luther and damn, he looked good. Idris is in demand these days. I’m not really surprised by that, although I am surprised sometimes by which projects Big Driss chooses to do. I guess some stuff will come into focus for him in a few years, when he’s hopefully tapped (unf) to play James Bond. In the meantime, he’s probably going to appear in yet another franchise: the Star Trek franchise!! Variety says that Idris is going to follow in Benedict Cumberbatch’s KHAN shoes and become the villain in the third film of the rebooted franchise.
Idris Elba is in early talks to play the villain in “Star Trek 3,” sources tell Variety. Justin Lin is directing the pic, with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana and Anton Yelchin all on board to return.
J.J. Abrams will produce along with his producing partner Bryan Burke and Skydance’s David Ellison. Production is set to start in June.
Details of Elba’s role are being kept under wraps. Early rumors suggest that Klingons would be the main villains in this movie, as they have not had a full presence in previous installments, but sources would not confirm if that was the case. Paramount and Skydance had no comment.
[From Variety]
If Idris is playing a Klingon, wouldn’t that mean that his beautiful face would be partially covered in terrible prosthetics and makeup? NOOOOOOooo. If Idris is coming into the Star Trek world, why can’t he be some smooth-talking Earthling who seduces all the ladies? And perhaps some of the gentlemen too. I wouldn’t mind a Star Trek same-sex love story involving Idris and Chris Pine. Sh-t, that’s my new happy place. Anyway, this is just an FYI: Idris Elba’s thunder is going intergalactic.

Jeremy Renner’s split from his wife of ten months, Sonni Pacheco, is still an utter mess. When we last checked in on them, Sonni had told the court that Renner shouldn’t have any kind of custody with their daughter Ava Berlin because Renner keeps loose guns in his home. In addition to requesting sole custody of Ava, Sonni has asked for a lot of child support, plus she wants him to pay her legal fees. His response to her: get a job. Oh, and she signed a pre-nup and he wants it honored. No spousal support, although I bet he is paying some kind of child support. In any case, Team Renner has filed more paperwork with the court, claiming that Sonni threatened to release “intimate videos” of him unless he helped her get a green card.
Jeremy Renner’s estranged wife threatened to release intimate videos of him if he ever went back on his promise to help her get a green card … this according to legal docs Jeremy just filed. Renner is in the middle of a bitter child custody fight over their nearly 2-year-old daughter Ava. Sonni Pacheco’s gunning for primary custody of their child and wants more than $13K a month in child support. Jeremy has been sharing 50/50 custody since they split up in December.
In Jeremy’s new legal docs — obtained by TMZ — Jeremy says Sonni repeatedly admitted she married him to get a green card and financial stability. He claims she repeatedly told their roommate Jeremy should be nice to her and not fight her on the green card or money issues or she’d release the embarrassing videos to TMZ … By the way, TMZ never spoke with her and we wouldn’t post such videos.
Jeremy says there are multiple issues of bad parenting on Sonni’s part, the worst of which was back in September when he was on location and she left their kid alone in the house for 15 minutes. She went in an Uber to party and never checked to see if someone was at home to care for Ava. Their roommate filed a declaration saying Sonni smokes and drinks and in fact stopped breast feeding because she felt guilty she was drinking alcohol. The roommate also claims Sonni did coke during a vacation right after Ava was born. We’ve reached out to Sonni’s reps, so far no word back.
[From TMZ]
First of all, is this “roommate” the same guy that Renner has seemingly lived with for years? Isn’t that Renner’s “business partner”? And now that guy is slamming Sonni as a druggie, a party girl and an unfit mother? SHADY. I have no doubt that Sonni married Renner for some semblance of stability, and to protect herself legally if everything fell apart (which is happening). I also don’t doubt that she probably has some videos of Renner doing some sketchy stuff that he probably wouldn’t want put out there publicly. But all of this, all together… they both seem like total sketchballs.
Oh, and I love TMZ’s editorial note “TMZ never spoke with her and we wouldn’t post such videos.” Bullcrap. If Sonni showed Harvey Levin a video of Renner doing blow or something of that nature, TMZ would totally publish it.

I had the chance to watch Celine Dion’s full interview with Good Morning America, in which she revealed that she’s returning to Vegas after months at home caring for her husband. As we covered yesterday, Celine’s husband of over 20 years, René Angélil, 73, is unable to speak or eat following surgery for throat cancer. Celine revealed that he requires a feeding tube. I was so moved by Celine’s story, and the full interview just confirmed that. She’s always been such a sincere, classy person.
During the interview, they showed Celine and René walking out on the stage in Vegas where she’s set to perform again in August. René moved gingerly and you could tell was having problems. In a new interview with People Magazine, Celine reveals that it was René’s idea for her to return to Vegas. People also says that René has lost much of his hearing due to radiation treatments for his cancer. It’s hard to read all she’s been through. Here’s some of what she told People:
Her outlook for the future
I always remember that saying when you get married: ‘In sickness and in health.’ I am scared of losing him, because it’s bad… but I have to show myself, my husband and my kids that I’m strong and we’re ok.
When I stopped performing, I wanted to be just a wife and mother. He wants me to sing again, and I want to do this with him.
On everything they’ve been through
It’s made us strong. We’ve been through a lot and we’re not questioning, ‘What happened and why? And how come again?’ We just have to get through it the best possible way… sickness is tough, it’s not something you choose.
You just have to live every day to the fullest… we don’t know what the future will bring, so we decided to just go for it.
How her children are doing
The twins are fine because they’re young, but I’m worried about RC. [Her oldest son, 13]. He understands what’s going on, and I feel a lot of empathy for him and I want him to feel like he can talk…
They [her children] help me to keep busy and stay positive. I just can’t sit around and worry.
On Rene encouraging her to get back to work
He was ready before me. He amazes me. I feel very fortunate I still have him… Rene has a little written destiny, but what exactly and when, nobody knows, and we’re not waiting for it.
[From People Magazine, print edition, April 6, 2015]
I like what she said about how she’s doing what she has to do and is trying to live every day to the fullest. As I mentioned yesterday, I do wonder if Celine is going back to Vegas because she’s contractually obligated to do so. You get the impression that she’d rather stay home with her family at this difficult time. She’s not complaining though, and she’s doing what she has to do. She’s also showing how vulnerable she is. Celine is honest, genuine and real and that makes her a rarity. So many people care about her and her husband.

As we near the end of the week, the tabloids are scrambling to put their stamp on Rob Kardashian’s Instagram outburst. To recap, the world’s most reclusive sock mogul posted a photo of a bloodied Amy Dunne and called Kim K. “that bitch from Gone Girl.” The general reaction was that Rob’s caption overestimated Kim’s abilities as a detailed schemer, but it was still an amusing comparison. People said Rob’s family wasn’t too worried because he is simply “depressed and a bit off.” We also heard buzzings about an intervention. The Kardashian Klan couldn’t get their press game straight. Rob really threw them for a loop.
This week’s issue of Us Weekly gives Rob’s “attack” on Kim a special corner of the cover. Us says that Rob got really upset at Kim during the filming of a KUWTK episode. She told him to stop being depressed, and he reacted:
Rob Kardashian shocked everyone when he compared his famous sister Kim Kardashian to Rosamund Pike’s murderous sociopath character in Gone Girl on Instagram last week, but sources close to the E! family reveal exclusively to Us Weekly that the Arthur George creator lashed out at Kim because he feels she’s two-faced.
“Rob is in a dark place,” an insider explains to Us of the bizarre Instagram post, which read, “This is my sister kim, the bitch from Gone Girl,” alongside a blood-spattered image of the actress.
“Kim told him he needs to get out of his funk,” the insider explains, adding that the post came after Kris Jenner’s only son, 28, filmed a scene with Kim for Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
Rob, who is still struggling with depression and weight gain, also feels that his older sister is two-faced. “His post was about how she seems caring in public, but he feels ignored,” a second source says.
But, according to another source, it’s simply “not Kim’s personality to nurture. She loves him, but she’s direct.”
[From Us Weekly]
I don’t have trouble believing that Kim would tell Rob to snap out of his funk, considering she had the same reaction to his weight. Both issues are interconnected. When someone is depressed, it’s difficult to care about anything or have the energy to make changes. Kim probably thinks that fixing depression is as easy as going in for one of her many cosmetic procedures. Just toss some money at a problem, and it will be fixed, right?
These two aren’t going to get along anytime soon. They’ll continue to argue and butt heads. They used to hang out a lot when Kim wasn’t mortified by Rob. She sees him as an embarassment, and he resents being placed into that box. This family is so toxic.

Late last week, I talked about how Zayn Malik abruptly left the One Direction world tour. The official reason given for his departure was “stress.” Zayn flew back to the UK where he reunited with his fiancée, Perrie Edwards. About an hour after Zayn arrived home, Perrie departed in a cab with an overnight bag. Some sketchy photo evidence pointed towards Zayn cheating with a groupie. Rumors buzzed about drugs. Other gossip spoke of Zayn’s discomfort in the face of blistering fame and an overwhelming schedule.
For several days, fans waited to hear whether Zayn would rejoin the tour. Many tales of fanfiction circulated. One report that seemed legit came from the Daily Star. The paper said Zayn was actively consulting with lawyers to see if there were any “get-out” clauses within his contracts. It looks like Zayn found the answer to that question. Yesterday afternoon, news swiftly hit the internet — Zayn quit the band. Here’s the statement from the 1D Facebook page:
After five incredible years Zayn Malik has decided to leave One
Direction. Niall, Harry, Liam and Louis will continue as a four-piece and look forward to the forthcoming concerts of their world tour and recording their fifth album, due to be released later this year.
Zayn says: “My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I’d like to apologise to the fans if I’ve let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world.”
One Direction say: “We’re really sad to see Zayn go, but we totally respect his decision and send him all our love for the future. The past five years have been beyond amazing, we’ve gone through so much together, so we will always be friends. The four of us will now continue. We’re looking forward to recording the new album and seeing all the fans on the next stage of the world tour.”
Simon Cowell says: “I would like to say thank you to Zayn for everything he has done for One Direction. Since I first met Zayn in 2010, I have grown very, very fond – and immensely proud – of him. I have seen him grow in confidence and I am truly sorry to see him leave. As for One Direction, fans can rest assured that Niall, Liam, Harry and Louis are hugely excited about the future of the band.”
[From Facebook]
Yep. Zayn has left the building. We could speculate all day (go ahead!) on the reasons for Zayn’s departure. Several stories dropped after the announcement, so let’s do bullet points.
* Twitter went crazy with the #ByeZayn tag. Teenager girls poured their emotions into 140 characters or less. Some of them called Perrie Edwards the Yoko Ono of 1D. People were really sad! Even Spice Girl deserter Geri Halliwell vague tweeted a “thinking of you” that may have been intended for Zayn.
* Us Weekly says the 1D band members felt it coming. Zayn “just wasn’t happy. It was now time to change his life and be away from all the craziness. He was always the more shy and introspective one.” He didn’t want a boy-band level of fame anymore.
* Harry Styles and Zayn are tight friends (who had no problem poking fun at their super close relationship). Harry’s having a hard time coping with the loss of his buddy. Harry broke down in Jakarta and started crying during a concert. Everybody loves Zayn!
* Aaaaand it gets worse. E! Online reports that Zayn’s exit presents a nice segue for another departure. That’s right. Now Harry wants to quit the band too. He’d like to go solo and “wants to get into acting.” If Harry and Zayn are both gone, then 1D will have absolutely no hair game. This is MADNESS.

Sean Penn has an intense new interview with The Telegraph. It’s always interesting to see how the “good” British press outlets treat American stars, and how those Americans treat British journalists. What I’ve noticed is that British outlets are more quick to point out when an American star is being coddled by publicists, managers and the like, and the journalists will often say outright “his publicist told me not to ask this or that.” That happens a few times in this Penn interview, although Penn ends up talking about what he wants to talk about, and I have to think he went off-message several times. He’s still promoting The Gunman, which did not receive great reviews. You can read the full piece here. Some highlights:
His cigarettes: “I quit while I was doing the movie. You can’t do that stuff and smoke a lot of cigarettes.” Why did he start again? “It’s a beast. A stupid beast. You quit and have a hole in your life. Missing it. That’s the trap.”
His gun collection: “I never had a gun collection. I did, though, amass, for a period of time, what amounted to a gun collection. But ‘collection’ insinuates you are a collector, whereas in my case I had either purchased them for particular movie projects or inherited then from my younger brother, who has passed. [Chris Penn] had a number of weapons. I ended up with a lot of those but, about a year ago, I gave them all away.”
Whether The Gunman promotes violence: “I don’t think you can put something on a 40ft-wide screen with Dolby stereo and not be stimulated by it, whatever it is, a car going fast, a weapon firing. The only obligation of the film-maker is to show that there is a price to pay for violence. If it excites people in a negative way then I think that’s in the audience, not in the presentation.’
He’s watched all of the ISIL beheading videos: “Uh-huh. I’ve watched them. And anyone who sees them and claims that they were anaesthetized by violent movies, that they weren’t horrified by what they saw, on the most primal level, is intellectually dishonest or existentially unpresent.”
His thoughts on Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper: “Here’s the thing. I don’t see the same problems with it [as others do], not because of my relationship with Clint. I don’t see the glorification. I probably go into a zone when it comes to military films, where I am assessing the technical aspects of the film-making more than the political message. Clint and I have had some political discussions and he is a committed libertarian. I don’t think he is by any means a conventional Republican.”
[From The Telegraph]
I like how he nitpicks about his “gun collection” – he never collected, y’all. He amassed. He was a gun amasser. As for Penn’s admission that he watches all of the ISIL beheading videos… I know what he’s getting at and it actually makes sense in the context of the conversation he’s having with this interviewer about violence and whether we become anaesthetized to it, but I still don’t know how anyone could really seek out those videos and watch them all the way through. Just the clips they show on the news are horrifying enough. But I guess that’s the point Penn is trying to make – those videos still have the power to horrify. So we are not desensitized to violence.

Game of Thrones Season 5 is 17 days away. Can you feel it? I’m nervous as a cat! Who will die? Are the dragons going to fly free? Will Tyrion meet Dany? Will Ayra survive and thrive? And through it all, Cersei remains as bitchy as ever. It’s going to be interesting to see how she functions without her (spoiler) father. But one thing is for sure: everybody seems to love Lena Headey. She seems like a lot of fun, and she seems to befriend all of the new cast members. Lena is not the queen of bitchery like Cersei, it seems, although I have to admit that I don’t really know that much about Lena in real life. So I was happy to read her cover profile for More Magazine. Some highlights:
Her divorce from ex-husband Peter Loughran: “It’s tough. There’s a lot of hurt and sadness and disappointment. Grief. Massive grief. It’s a mourning process, and yet nobody’s died.”
Her battle with depression: “I haven’t had a spell in a long time. I think some people’s brains are just wired that way if you’re a thinker. People who never get anxious always amaze me. The world could be breaking up and they’re saying, ‘Everything’s fine!’ Getting older and having kids, you learn how to become less serious about it all.”
Her current mystery baby-daddy: “I like to keep my personal life private.”
She loves tattoos: “I always want more. It’s a terrible thing. I’ll be outside a tattoo shop and hear the needle and think, ‘I could just get a little one that nobody would see …’ ”
Peter Dinklage on Lena: “A lesser actress would play a wicked woman. But Lena approaches it as a mother lion—maybe because she’s a mother herself. Cersei will do anything to protect her own.”
Her future: “Nothing is concrete. Right now I’m having a very great moment, but it’s a moment, and I always think, okay, worst-case scenario: Could I survive in my car? Would this be okay? My friends call it disaster thinking. I like to think of it as realism.”
[From More Magazine via Us Weekly]
I like that Dinklage in quoted in the article – it feels like he doesn’t really do that much press around GoT (he receives a lot of press though), so it’s nice he thinks so highly of Lena. I also didn’t know she battles depression. I sort of agree with this statement, although I think her wording is odd: “I think some people’s brains are just wired that way if you’re a thinker.” Depression and manic-depression is in the wiring, I feel, and I believe the “if you’re a thinker” is a reference to the idea that with that kind of wiring, it feels like your brain just won’t shut down. But Lena sort of makes it sound like depression is related to intelligence, which… eh.
As for the mystery baby-daddy… who is it?! I still believe it’s Pedro Pascal.

Here are some bad photos of Jamie Dornan with a bad haircut arriving at LAX on Tuesday. Ugh, are these just bad photos of him or is that haircut just THE WORST? Anyway, I’ve been sort of waiting for new pics of Jamie because there are some interesting developments about the Fifty Shades of Grey sequel and all of that stuff.
First, the DVD of FSOG is coming out on May 1. Which is a really, really fast turn-around. They’re hoping to squeeze millions of dollars more from an audience that seemed to mildly enjoy the film. Apparently, the DVD will include lots of extras, unrated scenes and an alternate ending.
Next: remember how Jamie and Dakota Johnson were banding together and asking for significant raises for the sequels? I theorized that they would probably get the raises, just because FSOG did so well and because the raise would be considered hazard pay for anyone having to work with EL James. Well, I guess I was being too generous because FSOG producer Dana Brunetti shut down the “raise” speculation last week:
Dana Brunetti said: “Look, when I was starting out and had to cut my teeth and build my résumé to get in, I had to basically work for free on a lot of things. I still take reductions in my fees for the opportunities to do certain things. We got slack on Captain Phillips about how much Barkhad [Abdi] and those guys got paid. Look at Jonah Hill in Wolf of Wall Street. It was great for his career. So I’m not going to cry for anybody who wants to be in this business just because a thing they were involved in did very well and they didn’t get paid [a lot]. That’s not the deal that you made. If it was, I’d have more than a couple Ferraris because all the money my films have made is f—ing insane. You’ve got to start somewhere.”
[From E! News]
Yeah, Mr. Brunetti… no one is asking you to “cry” for Dakota and Jamie. They just want a raise after they went out there and shilled and made FSOG into a worldwide hit. Is it just me or is this really, really rude? Maybe it’s just all part of negotiating, but it feels like this is the kind of position to take in private, in the meeting about Dakota and Jamie wanting raises.
Lastly, Jamie recently sat down for an interview with The Guardian. They were actually nice to him! You can read the full piece here – it’s not chock full of interview quotes or anything, but I liked this one, about FSOG: “You know, I’m not naive as to why people would think it was a bad [career] choice, or why there is a snobbery about it. But I’m also not stupid, and I knew with Sam and Seamus McGarvey, the film would be in safe hands. And, you know, it does no harm to be in a film that makes half a billion dollars.” I also learned that his daughter is named Dulcie, which I didn’t know.
