Actress Julianne Moore covers the latest issue of Parade and opens up about her fifth Oscar nomination for her portrayal of a mother-of-three who is struck with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease in the film Still Alice. Moore, 54, also chats about happy family life with husband, director Bart Freundlich, and their two kids: son Cal, 17, and daughter Liv, 12.
On family life: “Right before I met my husband, I always felt as if the party was happening somewhere else. Like, ‘Where is everybody else going?’ And once I met him and we had our children, I was like, ‘This is where the party is.’ There’s nowhere else I want to be. On why she thinks people are so moved by Still Alice: “It’s a movie about mortality and being. It makes us really think about our lives. You’re never closer to loving life than when you’re closest to loss.”
On why she’d love to win her first Academy Award: “That’s the nomination from your peers. It’s a very, very big deal.”
