Billy Corgan is either a delicious bitch or an unprofessional, whiny jackass. Your choice! Corgan is in the midst of some kind of comeback (he released a new album late last year), and he’s been performing more and giving more interviews lately, often to hilarious results. I covered an interview with Corgan in December – go here to read. He was throwing shade right and left, comparing himself to Kurt Cobain, David Bowie, John Lennon and Bob Dylan. He thinks highly of himself and he has a very low opinion about nearly everyone else in the music industry. So, when he was asked about the Kanye West-Beck thing at the Grammys, Corgan’s response was interesting.
“I’ve stood at that podium too and I’ll tell you what, if somebody got up on my stage, I would knock them out. I don’t care who it is, I would have knocked him out….[It is] inappropriate for any artist to take somebody else’s moment and make it their own…I don’t know Kanye, but I think he’s speaking from his heart…I think he really believes what he’s saying, I just think that’s the inappropriate venue to do it, because in essence that’s Beck’s moment.”
He simmered any tension that he may have an agenda against the rapper however, joking about what would happen if the two ever came to blows.
‘Between Kanye and I, it’d probably be a stand-off, but Kim would probably take me down!’ he teased.
[From The Daily Mail]
Eh, I think Shirley Manson’s response to Kanye was a lot better! People seem to be confused about the Kanye-vs.-Beck thing, in my opinion. I personally didn’t think it was any big controversy that Kanye pretended to stage-rush Beck at the actual Grammys. He was making a joke, people knew it was a joke, and everyone thought it was funny. Even Prince laughed, and Beck was into it, and he even wanted Kanye to come back up. The problem came after the show, when Kanye made some really awful statements about Beck to E! News, about how Beck didn’t respect artists and blah blah blah. That was when Kanye crossed a line.
As for Corgan… I kind of doubt that he could punch anyone out. Yeah, he’s a tall dude but he doesn’t seem scrappy at all.
Oh, and Corgan disrespected an entire Australian city this week too – he was performing at the Soundwave music festival in Adelaide, basically saying that the city was comparable to dilapidated Rust Belt cities in America, and “No disrespect to Adelaide, but people don’t think Adelaide is a cultural centre, much like they don’t think of the city I’m from, Chicago, as a cultural centre.”

I’m not a huge comic-book person or a comic-book movie person. I’m not judging those who are, but it’s not my cup of tea. I never even saw the third Iron Man movie. I saw The Avengers when it came out on DVD. I have no desire to see another GD Spider-man franchise reboot. I think Batman vs. Superman is going to be a gigantic mess (a mess that will earn a billion dollars, but a mess nonetheless). So, I’m okay with people involved in this year’s awards cycle throwing a little shade at comic-book movies. But you know who got a little bit prickly about it? James Gunn, director of the wildly successful Guardians of the Galaxy. He wrote a little essay on his Facebook:
I didn’t really find the Jack Black superhero jokes offensive, did you guys? It was, like, a joke. I’m not sure if you guys noticed, but the writing on the Oscars didn’t seem to be all that well thought out.
As far as Dan Gilroy saying that attendees of the Independent Spirit Awards have survived against a “tsunami of superhero films” – well it seems a bit weird coming from a guy whose wife has acted in two Thor films – really, that seems like you’ve drowned horribly in that tsunami. But I know I just kind of make up stuff as I go along on these awards shows, so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.
Whatever the case, the truth is, popular fare in any medium has always been snubbed by the self-appointed elite. I’ve already won more awards than I ever expected for Guardians. What bothers me slightly is that many people assume because you make big films that you put less love, care, and thought into them then people do who make independent films or who make what are considered more serious Hollywood films.
I’ve made B-movies, independent films, children’s movies, horror films, and gigantic spectacles. I find there are plenty of people everywhere making movies for a buck or to feed their own vanity. And then there are people who do what they do because they love story-telling, they love cinema, and they want to add back to the world some of the same magic they’ve taken from the works of others. In all honesty, I do no find a strikingly different percentage of those with integrity and those without working within any of these fields of film.
If you think people who make superhero movies are dumb, come out and say we’re dumb. But if you, as an independent filmmaker or a “serious” filmmaker, think you put more love into your characters than the Russo Brothers do Captain America, or Joss Whedon does the Hulk, or I do a talking raccoon, you are simply mistaken.
[From Facebook]
I think he makes a good point – and let’s be fair, many of nominated actors have had parts in major comic-book franchises. Michael Keaton was Batman, Benedict Cumberbatch will be Doctor Strange, Bradley Cooper was a talking raccoon, Mark Ruffalo is The Hulk (Ed Norton too). And the reason the studios have the money to wage Oscar campaigns for their small, “important” films is because they have cash-cow franchises and comic-book movies. Variety has a write-up/analysis piece about whether people should lay off the comic book movie jokes. It does seem like it’s sort of biting the hand that feeds, you know?
Now, all that being said, there IS a tsunami of comic-book movies and I have to think that this too shall pass. This is a market trend, only it just happens to be a HUGE market trend that will probably last another decade. I came of age, as a film lover, during the heyday of the 1990s independent film movement. That was a trend too, as “indie” became profitable and commercialized and those films lost a lot of their street cred. With comic book movies, I just have to think that… all it takes is one major flop, one huge box office bomb, and then suddenly that particular model will be harshly reassessed.

Buffy’s sweet boy!
Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar shared a rare photo of her son Rocky James, 2, via Instagram Tuesday. “This is what happens when everyone in your house is sick- You have to send your 2 year old to the drugstore #MakeItWork,” the Buffy the Vampire Slayer star, 37, captioned the image.
In another rare shot, the actress posted a photo of her 5-year-old daughter Charlotte Grace next to her initials written in the sand.
“My daughters idea of #winter Thank you #SoCal When I grow up I want to be my kids #CGP #grateful #HappyPresidentsWeekend,” Gellar wrote.

Granted, I never watch any of the Real Housewife shows, but I thought the point of each franchise was to cause a lot of controversy, to manufacture drama, to get drunk and throw tables and punches in equal measure? Isn’t that the whole deal of the Real Housewife shows? To show off Botoxed trophy wives and their petty dramas and substance abuse? Well, it seems like Brandi Glanville was doing it a little too well, right? Brandi went from being a fun drama queen to the #1 villainess on RHOBH within a few seasons. And now, Us Weekly, says, Brandi is either going to get the boot or she’ll “quit” the show.
Final straw? Brandi Glanville might be getting the boot from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, sources reveal in the new issue of Us Weekly. That is, if the Bravo reality star doesn’t make an exit first. According to one show insider, Eddie Cibrian’s ex “has stirred s—t to get attention” and “it’s backfiring.”
In fact, even executive producer Andy Cohen is fed up with her antics. “He thinks her actions aren’t a good look for the show,” another source tells Us of her wine-throwing behavior.
Not to mention, the podcast host isn’t on good graces with cast members Kyle Richards, Lisa Vanderpump, or newcomer Lisa Rinna, either. Since joining season five of the hit reality show, the Days of Our Lives alum has labeled the mom of two an alcoholic. A third source close to the star, however, says, if anything, it’ll be Glanville who chooses to leave.
“She’s furious at how she’s been portrayed,” the insider tells Us. “She thinks they made her look like a train wreck.”
[From Us Weekly]
My take? This is all scripted nonsense and the producers obviously wanted to push Brandi as a villainess, so that’s what happened. The shows run on alcohol and drama and so does Brandi, so it’s a natural fit. I think it’s interesting that sources say Andy Cohen isn’t happy – that might be true. When Brandi was last on Watch What Happens Live, he did not seem pleased with her at all. But would she really leave a paying gig? What would she do instead? What could possibly further her branding more than RHOBH? But yeah, she might get fired. I doubt it though. Even if Cohen isn’t happy with her, wouldn’t the show be really boring without her?

“Parenting 101,” the Canadian actor, 33, Instagrammed a fun photo, pretending to share some wine with his 16-month-old tot.
In another shot, the actor posted a photo with wife Cassandra Jean and their baby girl backstage at Late Night with Seth Meyers.
He went on to post some more family photos on his Instagram page.

Marc Anthony was on the Meredith Vieira show Tuesday. From the clips I’ve seen, he was pretty funny and charismatic. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised by this, but I don’t pay much attention to him and he often comes across as Jennifer Lopez’s surly ex. Anthony, 46, recently remarried, to a now 27 year-old Venezuelan model named Shannon de Lima. Meredith asked him, in a roundabout way, how he landed a hot woman like that. I’m sure the question was pre-approved because he then launched into a self deprecating story about how his dad told him to work on his personality, since he was lacking in the looks department. (He said that, not me.)
Marc also talked about his ex, Jennifer Lopez, and their relationship. It sounds like they’re successfully co-parenting. While he was praising Jennifer, Marc kind of confirmed that Jennifer is still dating Casper Smart. At least she’s keeping it under cover this go-round. Here’s some of what he said:
On how he landed Shannon de Lima
I’m just great at marketing. I was born with this mug piece and skinny and stuttering and somehow…
His dad told him he was ugly
My dad told me early on, he said ‘son, we’re both ugly.’ He says it to this day. He goes ‘You work on your personality. It builds character.’
On if that hurt his feelings
Absolutely not, because I was born looking at his face and he was right.
On if he’s read Jennifer’s book
I read many iterations of it along the way. We’re close that way and we trust each other. I was proud of her. I know what it takes and I know her very well.
On why he thinks his relationship ended
I don’t talk about it much as a whole. I just think that’s private… I’m not sure I ever will [talk about it]. I don’t think it’s for public consumption.
On if he feels strange about Jennifer’s book being out there
It’s not my book, but I was really proud of her. I know what it took for her to open up like that.
On what his kids know about the divorce
This has been their reality since they’re very young so it’s very normal… It’s very natural for Jennifer to come over the house with Casper… It’s always been that way, or Shannon and I to go over her house.
I didn’t read Jennifer Lopez’s book, True Love, so I’m not able to directly comment on how she addressed the end of her marriage to Marc. Many reviewers on Amazon said that she didn’t dish any details whatsoever and that the book was full of vague platitudes and hokey bits of wisdom. The top rated reviewer, who chose to remain anonymous, wrote this “[Lopez] makes vague statements about not respecting herself, and vague references to verbal and emotional (possibly physical?) abuse, but doesn’t say much beyond that. I don’t want to read a blow-by-blow about her relationships, but she is so vague about everything in her life that you are left wondering what the book is about.” So when Marc says that he read “many iterations” of the book, I take it to mean that she sent it to him for approval several times, maybe because she legally had to as part of their divorce agreement. We heard last year, prior to the book coming out, that Jennifer wrote that she’s felt abused, but she didn’t get into any details whatsoever and she didn’t even name Marc as her abuser. She wrote that she’s “never gotten a black eye or a busted lip, but I’ve felt abused in one way or another: mentally, emotionally, verbally.”
In terms of Anthony making fun of himself for being “ugly,” he’s not a conventionally attractive man, that’s true, and I know he’s nicknamed skeletor and all but I don’t think he’s that bad looking. He’s just a small dude and he looks normal to me. He could be considered “ugly hot,” which is a term usually reserved for skinny men who don’t look like models and who have attitudes. Also, money and fame help considerably.
Anthony is promoting his foundation Maestro Cares, which builds facilities for homeless children and orphans in Latin America. He got choked up talking about it, I was really touched. You can see the video of him discussing that here. He said “to see 48 kids in a 3 bedroom house, it was too much. I knew I could do something about it, and I did.” To replace that facility they built a 5 acre compound with a clinic, classroom, and 100 beds. He said they’re now about to build their seventh orphanage in two years.
Here’s Marc talking about co-parenting with Jennifer:

It was an A-list playdate for Hilary Duff and Jack Osbourne‘s adorable tots.
“Luca&Pearl’s ice cream date @mrslisao we made some cuties,” Duff Instagrammed the photo of her son Luca and Osbourne’s daughter Pearl.
Both nearly 3-years-old, the preschool pals – who have been friends since taking the same baby class in West Hollywood – enjoyed an ice cream treat together.
Jack’s wife, food blogger Lisa Osbourne, was the first proud mama to post via Instagram.
“Two of the sweetest babes I know, Luca & Pearl! @hilaryduff #icecream #gelato.”
In a series of shots, Lisa shared some family photos on her Instagram page.
Lisa and Jack recently announced their second pregnancy. The expectant parents, who were wed in 2012, experienced a late-term miscarriage in 2013.

Mother daughter duties
A photo posted by Kylizzle (@kyliejenner) on Feb 24, 2015 at 6:04pm PST
Kylie Jenner Instagrammed this photo of herself and Kris Jenner doing “mother daughter duties,” and I don’t know what that means from this family. I’ll assume that Kris is trying to move her refreshed face, and it’s not working.
News dropped yesterday about Kylie’s brand new house. She’s 17 years old! And she bought a more expensive house than yours. TMZ has photos of the $2.7 million home in Justin Bieber’s old Calabasas neighborhood. These are some pretty sweet digs. Five bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, and nearly 5000 square feet.
The house should give Kylie plenty of privacy, which will come in handy for dating 25-year-old Tyga. Tyga still thinks we’re only questioning his actions because of his silly black vs. white friendship excuse. Tyga visited another radio show. You can hear the 92.3 interview here, but these are the relevant excerpts. This time, he never explicitly denies anything about Kylie:
On Kylie: “I feel like if I tell the world that I love her or I don’t, it’s on me to dictate that and how I want to keep my friendship or relationship with her. It doesn’t matter what the world thinks. If you’re around somebody and you love being around that person, that’s all that matters. I don’t think that what anybody could say could change that — how I feel for her as a person. Just being the great person she is, she’s just a good person, she’s got great energy. We’ve got a group of friends that we’ve been hanging out for the longest. I’ve been knowing her and her family for six/seven years. It’s all love there. We’re going to continue to grow. I love her as a person for sure.”
Are they romantic? “I don’t think it really matters. If you love being around somebody that’s all that really matters. [The fans] always want to know what’s going on. And I think it’s good for them to stay interested and want to be involved in my life, which I appreciate, but sometimes you’ve got to let the artist live their own personal life.”
[From 92.3 on YouTube]
Did you hear him? Tyga has Kanye & Chris Brown’s blessings, so he thinks it doesn’t matter whether he’s dating a 17-year-old girl. He’s being evasive because he doesn’t want to be arrested for statutory rape. He’s also trying not to upset Kylie and lose her. Tyga against the world.
Here’s a photo of Kylie out and about on Monday with her Christmas puppy.

First of all, Jennifer Lopez really needs to stop pissing off her makeup artist. Her makeup at the Oscars was AWFUL. No one – and I mean NO ONE – should wear pink eyeshadow.
Anyway, this story is just for the people who want to relive the glory days of Bennifer 1.0. When Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were together, they were a glorious mess. He was gambling and uncomfortable, and she was trying too hard to make it work. She styled him like a Ken Doll. He got lap dances from strippers. She was married to her second husband when they met. Ben actually worked hard to win her. They did hilariously awkward interviews together. Ben rubbed her butt in a music video. It was glorious time. In the past five years or so, Ben has given lots of interviews about his regrets in the Bennifer 1.0 years. It’s still on his mind, and (just my opinion) some of his interviews could be read as particularly insulting to J.Lo. He really regrets that whole situation.
So, Ben and J.Lo were both at the Oscars on Sunday. Ben did not walk the carpet and he was only there to present Best Director. I’m pretty sure he came alone – Jennifer Garner was not there. I think J.Lo’s date was her manager Benny. And then this happened:
For some celebrities, attending the Oscars means navigating their way through a minefield of exes. For Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, however, it felt like old times.
During the 87th Annual Academy Awards, the exes had a brief, off-camera reunion during a commercial break. After Laura Poitras’s Citizenfour won the award for Best Documentary Feature, Affleck walked over to Lopez, who was seated in the front row. According to ABC News, Affleck whispered something into Lopez’s ear, and she playfully smacked his arm. After reuniting with Lopez, Affleck moved down the aisle and whispered something in Best Actor nominee Bradley Cooper’s ear. The American Sniper star didn’t slap Affleck, however.
[From E! News]
Sigh… I mess them!!!!! They were so much fun. I’d like to think this was just a little flirtation – after all, Jennifer has said that while she has regrets about that time, she still cares about Ben and wishes him well. I like that he went over to her and told her some joke or something and they got to have a moment.
Oh, and by the way – we’re pretty sure that Jennifer is back with Casper Smart. She’s just keeping it really quiet these days. I guess we have to give her credit for being self-aware enough to feel ashamed for going back to him.

New mom Kelly Clarkson radiates the latest cover of PEOPLE with her 8-month-old daughter River Rose and opens up about her first non-holiday album since 2011, Piece by Piece, and the joys of motherhood.
“My whole life took a big 180,” Clarkson shares. “I never thought I was going to be a mom, so it’s very much changed my world in the most awesome way.”
Although busy, Clarkson has a happy family life with husband Brandon Blackstock, 38, their daughter and her stepkids Savannah, 13, and Seth, 8.
“I love what I do, but I feel like I relied on my career a lot for my self-worth. And now I’m more than that,” says the Grammy Award-winning singer. “I’m a mother and a wife and have this whole other thing going on.”
Since welcoming her first child — who Clarkson calls “the happiest baby on the planet” — the American Idol alum, 32, has found peace.
“I have a certain level of peace I didn’t know was going to come with it,” she shares.
And it sounds like motherhood has healed some of the wounds from her own parents’ divorce.
“My best friend always says, ‘You just want to create the family you never had.’ I might be doing that,” Clarkson adds. “In defense of my family, it happens. People fall out of love, and people go separate ways. People are human. I’ve accomplished a lot, but I guess the biggest success I want is that whenever I die people will say, ‘She was so successful as a mother, and as a wife.’ That’s kind of my big goal.”
