Madam Secretary star Téa Leoni covers the March issue of More in a pretty pink Maria Lucia Hohan silk gown. The actress, 48, opens up about misogyny and ageism in Hollywood, choosing not to live in fear, and co-parenting her kids – daughter Madelaine West, 15, and son Kyd Miller, 12 – with ex-husband, Californication star David Duchovny.
On misogyny and ageism in Hollywood: “[Brett] Ratner (her director on the 2000 film The Family Man)—whom I really like, by the way—was going around telling people that despite my age, I was ‘still doable.’ I think I was 34 then. And he was something like 28. I asked myself, ‘Do I still care about that?’ And at that time, I did. I felt that pressure to be ‘doable.’ It was the meanest thought I’d had for myself in a long time…Thankfully, I’ve moved past all that. Chasing youth is a war I’m not going to win. It’s not like I’m thrilled to turn around and catch my can in the mirror, but I can see now how much of my happiness could be a victim of trying to stay young and desirable. And it feels like peace and victory to be relieved of that burden.”
On trying not to be too hard on herself: “Fear is terrible. I’m no different than anyone else. I don’t want people to judge me and find me wanting. I spent some time in my marriage being fearful of how it would go, or end, or not end, and I think, with the kids, some fear as a new mother. I didn’t know what I was doing. I remember packing the freaking diaper bag. I would get obsessed. If there is an earthquake, can we survive for two weeks on the contents?”
On her marital status: “Divorced and liking it, thank you.” But Leoni goes on to say she is friendly with David Duchovny, they speak almost daily and even shared a rental house with their children and extended family over the holidays. “On occasion, I want to throttle him. But in any real relationship with someone you love, that’s true,” she adds.

2015 Oscars: the most boring Oscars ever? [PopBytes]
Jay-Z & Beyonce towered over Kevin Hart. [Seriously OMG WTF]
Some days, I just have to give it to Zoe Kravitz. She’s one cool girl and she manages to score some pretty hot boyfriends. I mentioned this in a post yesterday, but it’s worth discussing in further detail today, as we pick up the pieces from a rather boring Oscar weekend. On Saturday night, Zoe was seen with Chris Pine at a pre-Oscar event. They were said to look especially friendly – go here to see a photo of them leaving together. This is not a new thing – there have been rumors about Chris and Zoe off-and-on for a months now. And I tend to believe that yes, they probably have hooked up before and YES IT WAS HOT. But “sources” tell E! News that they’re just friends. Friends that have hot sex every so often?
If you’re going to step out together, you may just be linked together. Chris Pine and Zoë Kravitz got fans talking over the weekend when they arrives at Charles Finch and Chanel’s seventh annual pre-Oscar dinner at Madeo restaurant in Beverly Hills. Wearing a blue suit without a tie, the Star Trek star stayed close to Kravitz as they entered the restaurant. They later mingled with fellow guests including Jessica Chastain, Keira Knightley and Kristen Stewart.
But before we proclaim these two a new item, a source assured to E! News Monday afternoon that “they are good friends.”
Another source added, “Zoë and Chris have known each other for a few years. They get along great and are good friends.”
Pine’s most recent long-term relationship was with model Dominique Piek. Meanwhile, Kravitz’s most recent romance was with former Gossip Girl star Penn Badgley, an actor she is still friendly with.
“Zoë has always been friends with her ex’s, she’s one of those girls that has a lot of guy friends,” an insider recently shared with E! News. “Even if there’s been a past romance…she’d go back to being just friends.”
[From E! News]
Zoe’s thing with Michael Fassbender was like that – they dated for about a year, they broke up, Zoe started up with Penn Badgley, but she and Michael were still spending time together publicly, months after their breakup. As I said, I think she’s genuinely a cool girl and a “love the one you’re with” kind of person. And yes, I want to believe that Zoe and Chris are spending a lot of time together. That’s my new happy place.

Here are some photos of Karlie Kloss at the Vanity Fair Oscar party on Sunday. We just missed these photos! Karlie wore Atelier Versace – fashion people were raving about this gown, but I think it’s kind of blah. She’s got a great figure though. I was sort of disappointed that Taylor Swift didn’t attend this year’s VF party, just because we were actually missing some bigger name celebrities and because Karlie and Swifty would have had a fun time together.
Anyway, Karlie was in the news this weekend because she’s officially “stepping down” from her Victoria’s Secret Angel contract. A source told People Magazine that Karlie decided to leave VS because she’s “got a busy but exciting year ahead and the decision came down to timing. She’ll be focusing on her modeling career, new business opportunities and NYU starting in the fall.” If you read Karlie and Swifty’s Vogue interview, you know that Karlie was accepted into NYU’s Gallatin School of Indivualized Study, on Christy Turlington’s recommendation. After that announcement was published by People Magazine, VS confirmed Karlie’s withdrawal from her Angel-hood. Ed Razek of VS said:
“Karlie and I met several months ago to discuss the many things she hoped to do in her life and career. As we talked, it became clear she would not have the time to fulfill her myriad commitments. Reluctantly, we agreed she would leave the brand at the end of her contract. Karlie is one of a kind, a very close friend, someone I truly admire and love. She is, without question, one of the best models ever. But she is an even better person. Her future is unlimited, and I am excited to see all the good she will do. Karlie Kloss will always be an Angel to me.”
[From People]
So, is everything fine? Well… Page Six decided to stir the pot a little bit. A source claims that Karlie is actually leaving VS because her “conservative” boyfriend, Joshua Kushner, told her to step down. Karlie is only 22, Kushner is 29. He’s “the successful entrepreneur behind a very private venture capital firm, and a scion of Kushner Properties.” And she’s a working model…? I guess I don’t really understand why a boyfriend – even a rich, conservative boyfriend – wouldn’t want his lady modeling for Victoria’s Secret. There’s no ring on that finger! You can’t tell her what to do!

Yesterday, I covered Zendaya Coleman’s Vivienne Westwood dress at the Oscars. Z also sported some fresh dreadlocks, which were part of her red carpet look. The dreadlocks are gorgeous, and Zendaya wears them well.
On yesterday’s edition of Fashion Police, Giuliana Rancic mocked the dreads. This Vine video shows Rancic saying, “I feel like she …. she smells like petroleum, or weed. Maybe weed.” Zendaya penned a response:
There is a fine line between what is funny and disrespectful. Someone said something about my hair at the Oscars that left me in awe. Not because I was relishing in rave outfit reviews, but because I was hit with ignorant slurs and pure disrespect. To say that an 18 year old young woman witl locs must smell of pachouli oil or “weed” is not only a large stereotype but outrageously offensive. I don’t usually feel th need to repond to negative things but certain remarks cannot go unchecked. I’ll have you know my father, brother, best childhood friend and little cousins all have locs. Do you want to know what Ava DuVernay (director of the Oscar nominated film Selma), Ledisi (9 time Grammy nominated singer/songwriter and actress), Terry McMillan (author), Vincent Brown (Professor African and African American studies at Harvard University, and an MA and PhD from Yale University) as well as many other men [women] and children of all races have in common? Locs. None of which smell like [marijuana]. There is already harsh criticism of African Amercian hair in society without the help of ignorant people who choose to judge others based on the curl of thei hair. My wearing my hair in locs on an Oscar red carpet was to showcase them in a positive light, to remind peole of color that our hair is good enough. To me locs are a symbol of strength and beauty, almost like a lion’s mane. I suggest some people listen to India Arie’s “I Am Not My Hair” and contemplate a little before opening your mouth so quickly to judge.

Zendaya’s response is perfect. She has a good head on her shoulders and dealt similarly in the past with the Aaliayah biopic scandal. Here, Z calmly and rationally called out Rancic for a ridiculous generalization. For what it’s worth, Rancic has “apologized” if anyone was offended.
Dear @Zendaya, I’m sorry I offended you and others. I was referring to a bohemian chic look. Had NOTHING to do with race and NEVER would!!!
— Giuliana Rancic (@GiulianaRancic) February 24, 2015
Eh. The damage is done. Rancic didn’t think before speaking. She wasn’t talking about some “bohemian chic” stuff. She drew the connection between dreadlocks, Bob Marley, and marijuana and applied it to anyone with dreadlocks. There’s some hypocrisy too — people aren’t buying Rancic’s apology. They’re calling out Rancic on Twitter, especially because Kylie Jenner’s recent dreadlocks (and Lady Gaga’s) were treated much differently on E!
Gaga wore dreads. edgy and cool. Kylie wore dreads. edgy and cool. Zendaya pays tribute to someone, she smells like weed.
— skittles. (@chasemylovex) February 24, 2015
when Kylie Jenner got dreads they were “edgy” and “urban”. Yet when Zendaya got them, they smell like “weed & oil”. THIS IS WHY WE GET MAD.

Is Prince Harry quietly dating Emma Watson? In a word, no. But we’re still going to talk about it, because some people really want this to happen and they’re trying to force it to happen in the gossip-universe. It all started when an Aussie tabloid called Woman’s Day claimed that the reason Harry hasn’t “moved on” publicly from Cressida Bonas is because he’s trying to keep a new relationship with Emma hush-hush.
After numerous failed relationships, it looks like notorious bachelor Prince Harry has found love with gorgeous Harry Potter star Emma Watson. Woman’s Day can exclusively reveal the pair are having secret dates with each other and are getting to know each other quite well.
When Harry heard she had split from her British rugby player boyfriend Matthew Janney at the end of last year, he called on mutual friends to help him hook up with the actress. He then sent Emma a short email saying that he would “like to get to know her” and invited her out.
Although 12 other friends went along too to make Emma feel a little more comfortable, the pair hit it off!
“Harry didn’t want her to feel like she was put on the spot,” explains one insider. “A party also shows he’s fun and not stuffy. He’s smitten – and it’s more than Emma’s looks.”
The good news is, Emma has already met some of the family! She met Harry’s brother Prince William last year at a cancer charity event and has also met his dad Prince Charles.
[From Woman’s Day]
Emma was the one to indirectly shoot this rumor down by tweeting this:
WORLD ? Remember that little talk we had about not believing everything written in the media?!
— Emma Watson (@EmWatson) February 22, 2015
She followed that up with this: “also….. marrying a Prince not a prerequisite for being a Princess” and linked to this clip from A Little Princess in which “all little girls are princesses.”
Here’s the thing… I’ll all for setting Prince Harry up on imaginary dates with actresses. But you’ve got to understand his type. You’ve got to make it plausible. Harry is always going to go for Blake Lively type of woman, not the Emma Watson type. You feel me? He likes ‘em blonde with curves. He also likes ‘em a little bit naughty. As for Emma… I’m not sure she really has a type. College-educated sensitive boys, perhaps. And Harry doesn’t fit that description either. So, yeah… this isn’t happening. Frankly, we’re more likely to see Harry with someone like Cara Delevingne.

God, I would have given anything to have this kind ^^ of moment on the Oscars red carpet this year. There was no big controversy, no huge moment like The Leg, also known as Angelina Jolie’s terrible Versace dress at the 2012 Oscars. Oscar ratings were way down this year too – partly because Neil Patrick Harris wasn’t a very good host, partly because there were very few surprises (three of the four acting categories were sure-things weeks ago), partly because there was no huge movie that people rallied around (that could have been American Sniper, but AS was almost completely shut out).
I believe the low ratings were also because the Oscar producers didn’t really try to bring some big name people to the telecast, and the Academy voters seemed to not want any race to be a big fight. While Ava DuVernay and David Oyelowo probably wouldn’t have won anything, the Best Director and Best Actor races would have been so much more interesting if they had been nominated. And there were so few huge-name celebrities, you know? I realize Angelina Jolie wouldn’t be everybody’s cup of tea, but wouldn’t you have enjoyed seeing her as a presenter this year? Or Brad Pitt? Or George Clooney? Or Julia Roberts? And what about Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, or Kristen Stewart or even Tom Cruise, you know? People like Gwyneth Paltrow tried to bring the drama and it just kind of felt lukewarm.
Anyway, Jon Voight is still disappointed that Angelina wasn’t nominated for Best Director. He attended the VF Oscar party and he told E! News:
“I think the nominations were mostly right. They don’t get everybody. I’d like to have seen my daughter’s film get a few more nominations. But we were very well represented. I think Hollywood did very well with the films this year especially towards the last couple of months.”
[From E! News]
Voight seems to be a lot calmer about Angelina these days, have you noticed that? I wonder if she’s letting him spend any time with his grandkids. Anyway, I don’t really have a strong opinion about whether Jolie should have been nominated for Best Director. I thought her direction was adequate, which is how I would also describe Morten Tyldum’s direction of The Imitation Game, and Tyldum got nominated. So… yeah. The Academy voters need to regroup and think about how they nominate and award films.
