Coming in as no surprise, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” is on its way to a record-breaking debut today (July 15) and through the weekend.
According to Warner Bros., the film pulled in $22.2 million in midnight ticket sales – beating out the $18.5 million record midnight earnings of last year’s hit, “The Dark Knight.”
"Half-Blood Prince," unlike the last two "Potter" films, is rated PG rather than PG-13, meaning it could play to an even broader audience. The first three movies also were rated PG.
"Half-Blood Prince" will debut this week in all major international territories.
Emma Watson has claimed that the upcoming ‘Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince‘ is a romantic comedy.
The young actress told Digitalspy at the National Movie Awards, “”It’s got Ron’s first kiss with Lavender in it, which is quite big news. It’s much more of a romantic comedy, it’s much funnier than any of the other ones.”
Miss Watson added, “It’s a lot more fun. It’s still dark but it’s funnier.”
‘Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince’ is scheduled to release July 2009.
