She’s kept pretty quiet since the death of her brother Michael, but at tonight’s MTV Video Music Awards, Janet Jackson broke her silence in a big way.
The “Rhythm Nation” songstress indulged the crowd at Radio City Music Hall with a killer performance of “Scream,” synched up with footage of the late King of Pop singing the same song.
Janet looked confident and intense as she worked the stage, showing off a fit and fine form underneath her black and white ensemble.
All in all, the opening minutes of the 2009 VMAs was a fitting tribute to the late Michael Jackson, just shy of 3 months since his death.
A huge memorial happened on July 7 for Michael Jackson that brought friends and family. But who wasn’t there that had people surprised? Janet Jackson’s long time boyfriend, Jermaine Dupri.
One friend of the music producer claims he just “doesn’t attend funerals,” however, it sounds like the two have gone to splitsville.
“They have been moving in different directions for a while,” one source says.
The couple was together for a good seven years, but a pal of the two says, “You shouldn’t mix business with pleasure. Janet felt their lives were too crossed and they should have kept things separate.”
And although sometimes opposites do attract, this was not the case. "Jermaine likes to be out there, mingling with everybody, and Janet’s more shy. In the meantime, Janet is heavily mourning over her brother’s death. She’s devastated," an insider says. "She’s busy caring for Michael’s kids. Janet’s the family’s backbone."
Janet Jackson was dressed up as a naked robot for the promotional photo shoot for her new single, “Feedback.” The photo or artwork looks more like a piece of art than a person in costume. This song will be part of her new album called “Discipline.” This new album would be launched in U.K. in the Spring of 2008.
