A man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly attempting to stalk Miley Cyrus, and now the Disney star has been granted a temporary restraining order against him.
Reports filed in the Superior Court of Chatham County, GA, say that Mark McLeod “shall not harass, threaten, molest, contact or attempt to contact, or in any other manner interfere with Cyrus, any member of her family, her friends, and fellow employees.”
McLeod had told cops he was getting “secret messages” from Miley through her television show.
His bond is set at $50,000 and he has also been hit with a restraining order.
Though fame has many perks, one of the downfalls is having crazed stalker fans. And thankfully Miley Cyrus’ stalker was apprehended in Georgia this week.
Mark McLeod, a 53-year-old fan of the Disney darling, was arrested near Savannah, Georgia a few weeks after police asked him to keep his distance from the “Last Song” movie set.
Back in June, McLeod was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and obstruction after he tried to breach the security perimeter around the set. At the time, he told the authorities that he was secretly engaged to marry Miley.
And it sounds like Mark may be in jail for awhile, as his police records don’t list any attorney. At least Miley will be safe to keep doing what she does best- entertaining.
Hopefully her bodyguards are on top of their game because a man stalking Miley Cyrus has been released from custody due to the overcrowding at a Georgia jail.
53-year-old Mark Mclead was arrested and booked on two misdemeanor charges last month in Tybee Island, Georgia, after standing in a crowd of people watching Miley film her latest movie and making crude comments to young girls in the crowd.
According to reports, Mclead had “been camping at Tybee for three or four days and that he had observed Cyrus on her balcony, that he sent her special presents and that he was going to marry Cyrus and even invited the police officer to the wedding."
The man has also been known to follow Miley – in March, the 53-year-old traveled to NYC for her “Miles to Go” book signing.
Continuing work on her new movie, Miley Cyrus has been staying in Tybee Island, GA as she plugs away on "The Last Song".
Spotted on the set earlier this week (July 15), the "Hannah Montana" starlet looked cute in a casual grey top with white sweatpants – enjoying a break in the day’s action.
Meanwhile, Miss Cyrus just recently locked into another new role – as she’ll be taking the lead in author Aprilynne Pike’s bestselling novel Wings.
With her mother, Tish Cyrus, acting as executive producer, Variety reports tell that "Wings refers to the physical appendage sprouted by Laurel, a sheltered 15-year-old who suddenly discovers she’s a fairy."
Add Zac Efron to the list of attached celebrities Miley Cyrus would like to sink her underage claws into. Disney’s “Hannah Montana,” age 16, spent Tuesday afternoon lusting after 17 Again star Zac Efron in a series of message posted to her Twitter page.
“Me and mom are seriously sitting here staring at Zac Efron on Google images..Girls I totally get it! He is gorgeous!” she Tweeted.
Someone should remind Miley that Efron has been dating his High School Musical co-star Vanessa Hudgens for more than three years. Perhaps it would be best of Miley keeps her orgasmic shouts of glee over Zac’s paparazzi shots to herself.
Miley On Her New Clothing Line With Max Azria For Wal-Mart:
“The jeans are my favorite part of the entire line. Because, like, literally this is going to be good for, like, Middle America, and it will be great for kids that really want to be in fashion but that don’t have it available.”
Miley On The Difficulties Of Being A Teen Star: “It’s hard for all of us. There are so many people that could be using you. So me and Nick and Demi, we don’t need anything from each other. We got our own thing going on.”
The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation – the nation’s leading gay rights group – is taking celebrity blogger Perez Hilton to task for using antigay slurs against Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am following an altercation between the two at Sunday night’s MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto.
“I don’t need to respect you, and you’re a fag. You’re gay, and stop being such a faggot,” the openly gay spat in a videoblog response to reports of a fight with will.i.am after last night’s show.
Regardless of who hit who, GLAAD is none to pleased with Perez’s flamboyant use of the word “faggot.”
“These are vulgar antigay slurs that feed a climate of hatred and intolerance toward our community,” Rashad Robinson, senior director of Media Programs at GLAAD, said in a statement to E! late Monday. “For someone in our own community to use it to attack another person by saying that it is ‘The worst possible thing that thug would ever want to hear,’ is incredibly dangerous.”
“It legitimizes use of a slur that is often linked to violence against our community. And it sends a message that it is OK to attempt to dehumanize people by exploiting antigay attitudes,” Robinson continued.
GLAAD is calling upon Perez to apologize for using the slur.
“We have reached out to Hilton and asked him to apologize for promoting this antigay slur, and we would ask media outlets to avoid repetition of the slur in their coverage of this story. While not all the facts in this case are known, the violence that appears to have been committed against Perez Hilton is unacceptable and ought to be condemned in the strongest possible terms,” the statement continued.
Perez claims he was beaten to a pulp by will.i.am and one of the Peas’ managers, Polo Molina, 36. Molina has been charged with one count of assault and ordered to appear in court August 5.
For his part, Will has denied any wrongdoing.
“This dude twists it and says that I assaulted him,” will.i.am said of Perez in a video rebuttal of his own early Monday. “When I was the one that came to him with respect and he was the one who called me a [faggot] outside the club.”
They spend a lot of their free time together, so it’s no wonder that last night’s goodbye is already taking a toll on Miley Cyrus and Justin Gaston.
The “7 Things” singer is heading to Georgia to begin filming for the Nicholas Sparks movie “The Last Song” while designing her new line for Wal-Mart and taping a new season of “Hannah Montana.”
And things don’t stop there for Miss Cyrus, as she has plans to go back on tour in September. – with Us magazine reporting that Justin will not be joining her on the road.
Shortly after the goodbye, the underwear model took to his Twitter page saying, “Haven’t been this miserable in a looong time.”
She can’t go anywhere without creating a scene, and last night (June 5) Miley Cyrus was spotted at The Grove hanging out and performing.
The “7 Things” songstress was actually in the house to show her support for pal Mitchel Musso, who was giving a free concert. And of course she ended up on stage before the evening was over.
Following the performance, Miss Cyrus had a hard time making an exit as there was a plethora of fans seeking pictures and autographs.
Prior to the show, Miley tweeted, “stoked to rock out with mitchel musso I got stuck at a business meeting but I will not miss my little punks concert! R u there?”
Earlier in the week, she showed her love for Musso’s new album, tweeting, “your record is really awesome! Welcome to Hollywood and walk away are my 2 favs! So proud of you! Whoo #2 on itunes.”
