I actually enjoy writing about the Monaco royal family as much as I enjoy writing about the British royal family, which is “a lot.” But Monaco has been pretty quiet lately, especially since Princess Charlene gave Prince Albert twin heirs to the Grimaldi throne last December. The arrival of Albert’s first two “legitimate” heirs means that Princess Caroline’s children just fell further down the line of succession. There was talk, a few years ago, that Caroline was really pushing Albert to never have legitimate heirs so that her son Andrea Casiraghi would eventually take over Monaco. But Albert got his heirs. So Caroline’s dream is dead (for now!).
But Andrea never seemed all that concerned. He’s been with Tatiana Santa Domingo, an heiress to a large fortune, for years and years. Tatiana got pregnant with their first child in early 2012 and gave birth to their son Alexander (who goes by Sacha) in early 2013. Tatiana and Andrea were married five months later. I sort of forgot about them and I totally forgot that Tatiana got pregnant again last year. But she did and she gave birth to a little girl over the weekend.
Congratulations are in order – yet again – for Monaco. Prince Albert’s nephew Andrea Casiraghi and wife Tatiana Santo Domingo had a second child on Sunday in London, sources confirm to PEOPLE. The child, a girl, is Princess Caroline’s first granddaughter and will become sixth in line to the Monaco throne.
Andrea and Tatiana, who already have a 2-year-old son, Alexandre (known as “Sacha”), first announced the pregnancy in November. After dating for a decade, Andrea, the son of Princess Caroline, and Tatiana were married in August 2013.
The birth of the Casiraghi daughter comes just four months after that of Prince Albert and Princess Charlene’s twins, Gabriella and Jacques, in December. The twins are due to be formally christened in Monaco’s Cathedral on May 10.

I can’t wait to hear the name! I hope it’s cute. I think it’s interesting that Tatiana gave birth in London – did the family relocate there at some point? Last I heard, Tatiana and Andrea split their time between Paris and Monte Carlo. I guess they have a place in London too.
Here are some photos of Sacha Casiraghi – he’s got a little grump-face, like Prince George. I hate that Princess Caroline doesn’t want to be in the same photo with her daughter-in-law.
