For the second year in a row, Benedict Cumberbatch is scheduled to appear at the “Letters Live” event in England. It’s basically a nice event where celebrities, writers and other assorted people gather for public readings of letters of famous and interesting people. Last year, Benedict did a reading of a very sad letter written by Alan Turing. According to TimeOut, Bendy will be doing more Turing letters, plus he’ll be doing love letters with his Sherlock costar Louise Brealy. Which I’m pretty sure is what happened last year? In any case, there’s a preview video of Benedict reading a letter by Turing – this letter was written soon after Turing was arrested for obscene acts with a man.
While I haven’t been feeling the Cumberlove a lot these days, I still love his voice. He could read to me any day of the week. Letters Live will be going down later this month. Bendy released a statement too, saying:
“Letters Live makes us pause and imagine the lives behind the letters read and the circumstances of their origin. The relationship between the audience, reader and writer on a Letters Live night helps deepen our understanding of these inspiring artefacts of the human condition. They are windows into the love, beauty, pain, and humour of their creators and recipients. It’s a privilege to read this most ancient of communications live to an audience.”

Sure, great. But move beyond Alan Turing’s letters though. That’s my only complaint!
Do you think he write love letters to Sophie? Do you think his sign-off is “Your loving otter, Bendy Batch”?
