VF jenner

I can’t believe my conspiracy theory was right – Bruce Jenner, now Caitlyn Jenner, covers the July issue of Vanity Fair. VF just dropped the cover. This is Caitlyn’s big public debut as a woman, and since Jenner is now telling us what she wants to be called and that she’s publicly identifying as a woman, we should all begin using “she/her” and the name Caitlyn Jenner.

Meet Caitlyn Jenner, Vanity Fair’s July cover star. Pulitzer Prize–winning contributing editor and author of Friday Night Lights Buzz Bissinger, who was given unfettered access to Jenner and her family, chronicles the tensions, traumas, and courage that shaped Caitlyn into the woman you see today. Annie Leibovitz shoots the first portraits of Caitlyn, which were taken in her Malibu home.

Jenner speaks movingly about her journey, telling Bissinger, “If I was lying on my deathbed and I had kept this secret and never ever did anything about it, I would be lying there saying, ‘You just blew your entire life.’ ”

Caitlyn’s journey is extraordinary and I have to think that what she’s done and how she’s revealed herself so publicly will be an overwhelmingly good thing for the trans community. I only have one funny/gossipy thing to say: I’m enjoying the fact that Jenner went with a name with a “K” sound for her name, which goes with her family. I’m surprised she didn’t go with a K-spelling too, Kaitlyn.

Caitlyn also has a new Twitter account! After her first tweet, debuting this cover, she tweeted this:

I’m so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can’t wait for you to get to know her/me.
