Zendaya is only 19 years old and she’s already a veteran of many social media beefs and controversies. To be fair to her, she’s almost always defending herself when someone else decides they have some kind of issue with her, her body, her hair or whatever else. There almost always seems like there’s a racial element too, like people would not be losing their minds trying to criticize her if she wasn’t a young woman of color (who rocks her own individual style).

Anyway, Zendaya attended the Kids Choice Awards this weekend and she took home the award for Favorite Female TV Star – Kids’ Show. Again, she’s 19 years old. So, 37-year-old actress/comedienne Julie Klausner decided to start some kind of beef with Zendaya. I really don’t understand this AT ALL. And who the hell is Julie Klausner? She’s the star of the Amy Poehler-produced Hulu show Difficult People. That’s why (some) people might know her. After Zendaya won her Kids Choice Award, Klausner decided to jump-start the beef, tweeting a link to Zendaya calling herself a role model and then going HAM.

And thinspo model for your impressionable tweens https://t.co/ZUwTcgoQml

Zendaya’s ultimate retort to Giuliana Rancic is starving herself down to the size of one of her elbowz

You don’t have to have an eating disorder to attend the Kids’ Choice Awards….but it helps!

I will never stop criticizing celebs who perpetuate dangerous beauty standards for a generation of girls who grow up thinking they’re fat.

And you know those public fat shamers who fake “concern” for Melissa McCarthy’s health? Consider me your fire with fire.

— Julie Klausner (@julieklausner) March 13, 2016

I’m concerned with the generation of girls who aspire to look like Zendaya. I do not worry about Zendaya’s health or care whether she eats.

DING DING!! For the first mention of white feminism, you win…a copy of YEARNING: Race, Gender and Politics! https://t.co/eMUusgEchE

To be fair, my trashy black friends are also chiming in ? https://t.co/paVKm78OEe

Zendaya geared up in response, but at the end of the day, she only tweeted about it twice, just letting Klausner tweet herself into a corner.

Do you find this funny? I will write another paragraph to educate you aswell #youreallywannabenext? https://t.co/z6dXOJ3Tai

Now….everyone go look in the mirror at their beautiful body, and love that shit? #thickgirlswinning #skinnygirlswinning #weallwinning

And she just kind of left it at that. She retweeted some well-wishes and then ignored Klausner, which shows you that a 19-year-old has more maturity than a parched 37-year-old “comedienne.” Speaking of, I guess Klausner got what she wanted, which was attention. She spent the rest of her weekend fighting with Zendaya’s fans on Twitter and making ill-advised “jokes” – go here to see her Twitter feed. What is the purpose of all of this again? Why does this middle aged comedian feel the need to pick apart Zendaya?
