Emilia Clarke covers the May issue of Vogue UK as a blonde. Interestingly enough, Emilia doesn’t dye her hair blonde for Game of Thrones, and she didn’t go magically blonde for this Vogue shoot either. She’s wearing a wig on the cover. Why did they do that? So she would look more like Daenerys? Because people don’t always recognize her as a brunette? It’s a weird choice. In the Vogue shoot, Emilia just looks really sleepy and I feel sort of sorry for her. This is her first big Vogue shoot and the styling is just kind of… blah. Some highlights from the interview:
GoT sex scenes: ‘We’ve been able to take it to a very real level. It was never pretending to be a show for kids! It’s gritty in a good, realistic way.’
Living in a hotel in Belfast: “I went back to Game of Thrones and it was like coming home. Just the smell of the hotel in Belfast made me feel safe. I told myself, forget the big game plan; all I want is to do jobs that make me happy.”
What her family thinks of GoT: “When I first read the scripts, I was on holiday with my family. I told my dad, you’re not going to be able to watch the first five episodes.”

It’s funny that she didn’t want her parents to watch the first episodes. GoT is such a cultural phenomenon that I would suspect that all of the actors’ parents are obsessed with the show and family members are always trying to pry information out of their children.
Emilia also sat down with THR to talk about what would happen if Daenerys ever met some of the men of the show, like Jamie Lannister (Emilia says Dany would “bed” him), Tyrion (she says Dany would probably like him) and John Snow. She even responds to the R+L=J rumor/theory – go here to watch the video.
