During a Thursday appearance on The Wendy Williams Show, singer-actor Evan Ross opened up about wife Ashlee Simpson and being stepdad to her 6-year-old son Bronx, impending fatherhood, and his “incredible” mother Diana Ross.

“We got a few ideas but we’re keeping that for us,” said Ross regarding baby names for their daughter on the way. “It’s not going to be Apple or Orange or anything like that. It’s going to be different though.”

As for Ashlee’s son Bronx, Ross says it’s been “amazing” being a stepfather.

“I can’t even tell you how incredible that child is.” Ross gushed. “He’s been a blessing in my life and I’ve learned so much from him.”

When the couple were wed last August, Ross said Bronx “was excited. He’s my friend—we became, like, homies. He was so excited we got married. He was at the wedding, I was like ‘This is just as much your wedding as ours.’ And he loves Mama D.”

“Mama D” being, of course, Ross’ famous mother, Diana Ross, whom officiated the nuptials at her estate in Connecticut.

“She’s incredible,” Evan said about his mom. “The whole thing, her and Ashlee’s mom, Tina, pretty much did the whole thing together,” he added of their wedding. “It was unbelievable. We had no idea she was going to perform. She told us, ‘Stop telling people I might perform’. She sang just to us two and it was really amazing..She did cry—when she was marrying us she cried.”
