Around the time George Clooney married Amal Alamuddin, he bought a mansion in Berkshire, England. It was apparently intended as their English home, just a little country mansion for when Amal wants to get away from the London bustle. George owns some nice real estate – I believe he does own a property in Cabo San Lucas, and he’s owned the same LA home for something like two decades as well. While people assumed that George bought the Berkshire mansion to live the life of a country gentleman, he’s barely spent any time there so far. The evil part of me thinks that the mansion will be what Amal gets in the divorce, you know? Anyway, Us Weekly says that George and Amal are taking some major security precautions with the house.

Trespassers beware! George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin are renovating their Berkshire, England, mansion — and it’s going to be high-security, a source reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly.

“They are having a panic room installed,” a source tells Us of the couple, who said “I do” in September 2014 and then spent their honeymoon in the 17th-century British manor house. “It’ll be fireproof, bombproof, and attack-resistant.”

As for why the husband and wife feel the need for the added protection? The insider tells Us it’s more for Clooney’s human-rights lawyer love rather than his own rabid fans.

“Amal has high-profile clients in controversial cases,” the insider explains of the need for Mrs. Clooney, 37, to protect her files. “She needs to be secure.”

As previously reported by Us, the couple chose to spend their first two weeks as husband and wife at the estate after making it official in a lavish, weekend-long wedding celebration in Venice, Italy. According to the insider, the manor is set back from the road in a remote countryside and is said to be luxurious, well-decorated, and super-private.

I think that the sources are probably being pretty accurate – George isn’t worried about his own crazy fans, Amal is worried about people who might have a problem with some of her politically sensitive cases, and her sensitive caseload grows by the day. It’s not just Julian Assange, she’s also talking on the British government, Holocaust deniers, etc. All it takes is one crazy person, you know? So yeah, I don’t think she’s a “diva” or anything for taking her security seriously. But I would like to know more details about how much time she spends in Berkshire, and whether George is really going to spend any time in England.
