Kendall Jenner in peekaboo Alaia at Cannes ‘Youth’ premiere: fug or fab?

Here are photos of Kendall Jenner at the Cannes premiere of Youth. She’s mostly on site to network and party. From the neck up, Kendall looks fantastic. Her makeup, including dramatic red lips, looks polished and her updo is an unexpected change from the usual stick-straight locks. The large diamond choker and bracelet are also very glamorous.

Kendall’s wearing an Alaia two-piece dress that is supposed to throw a chic goth vibe, but it looks like it’s made of folded, doily napkins. If the peekabook lace details weren’t present on the skirt, this ensemble would appear more sophisticated. The back of the skirt is almost completely sheer, at least in the tush department. Kendall’s showing off her underwear, basically. I guess that’s okay for Cannes, and we’ve seen plenty of this faux-exhibitionism at regular film premieres. The ensemble features a whole lot of fabric to be flashing so much skin. She does have the figure to pull of the bare midriff. Is this dress trashy?

Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder came up for air following their very steamy honeymoon. I don’t know why they’re at Cannes (neither of them has a film premiere scheduled) except to debut their status as a married couple. Nikki is wearing an Azzaro couture column gown. The backless detail appears formal with the aid of a long chiffon train (which Ian graciously arranged for his love). I’m not crazy about the orange twig-like embellishment, but it makes the dress more interesting.
