popcorn for game night activities

Kids are officially out of school for winter break. That means out-of-school activities are in full force to keep your little ones busy and out of trouble. We have some fun and out of the box activities that will keep your kids busy and won’t break the bank.

If you live in a cold climate and there is snow outside you can always rely on a good old fashion afternoon of sledding. You can let your kiddos paint or decorate a sled before going out on the hillside for some sledding. It’s a great art and crafts activity before heading outdoors to run off all of that steam they’ve built up.

Let your kids build a blanket fort in the living room. A great and easy way is to gather blankets and sheets from the linen closet and have your kids drape them over the dining room table. Then supply them with comfy pillows and let them enjoy their favorite holiday movie while sitting in their newly constructed fort.

There is nothing like a good scavenger hunt especially when you don’t know what to do with all of that leftover holiday candy. It’s a great way to keep your kiddos occupied while giving them the incentive to score some candy before you ditch it.

Have a game night, it’s a fabulous way to involve the whole family. Divide up your family in teams and play a game that involves all members like trivia or charades. Make some popcorn and sweet treats so everyone can snack throughout the game.

And last but not least throw a housecleaning party, yes we said housecleaning party. Appoint a room for each of your family members and have them clean out drawers and closets. Have your kids clean out clothes they have outgrown and toys they no longer play with.

Tell your kiddos that items they no longer use will be donated to a local charity or goodwill for someone else to enjoy. To make it more enticing make a point system for each room they clean out and they can cash their points in at the end for more screen time or game time.
