Most book critics and intellectual snobs offered some half-hearted “ironic” praise for Kim Kardashian’s coffee table book of selfies, Selfish. Like, the reviews of it weren’t bad. The consensus was that the book was pretty much the logical conclusion for where we are as a first-world society, for better or for worse. But Tim Gunn disagrees. Tim Gunn still has hope that some people will look at Kim Kardashian and truly believe that she will never be someone to admire, that her life is not aspirational and her need for attention is VILE. Us Weekly gave a copy of Selfish to Tim Gunn to peruse and his reaction was pretty funny:

Tim Gunn has slammed Kim Kardashian’s selfie book, calling it “disgusting and vile.” The “Project Runway” judge mocked Kardashian’s coffee table book, Selfish, while leafing through the pages at Us Weekly. After he read one of the photo’s captions, “I took a selfie at a red light while driving. I think that’s illegal now,” Gunn noted, “Well, she’s illegal.” And of a photo of Kardashian sticking out her tongue, he said, “Can I just say something? To all the young people out there in particular, banish this… This is disgusting and vile. What if this is the only thing that survives in the time capsule?”

The Emmy winner also asked Us staff reporter Travis Cronin about the latest hip lingo used by young people. “What’s fleek?” he asked in reference to one particular caption written by Kardashian. “Like fleet? Fleet Week?”

Gunn then singled out of a picture of the reality TV star wearing a heavy fur coat with the caption, “I just got this Fendi coat and was in New York. I was in a taxi and took this selfie to send to Kanye to see if he liked my new coat. He did!” Gunn’s response? “I feel my IQ plummeting.” The fashion guru then flipped to the back of Kardashian’s selfie book to look at her semi-nude photos, but quickly closed it when he came across an image of her wearing a see-through top and no bra.

The last time I wrote about Tim Gunn, it was 2013 (the horror!) and he told a media outlet that Miley Cyrus “needs a bitch slap.” In his defense, remember that Miley was the very definition of EXTRA back then. And I feel like that’s what Tim Gunn does these days: he’s the lone voice of sanity in the celebrity world, telling us that we don’t have to settle for the Kardashians and Mileys of the world.

Good morning…
