Whenever I read an update on the various criminal charges or civil suits against Harvey Weinstein, I get depressed. I’m really worried that Weinstein is going to end up largely unpunished for his decades of sexual harassment, sexual abuse, sexual assault and rape. I’m really worried that while Weinstein has “lost his career,” he’ll never see the inside of a jail cell, and he’ll basically live out his life in semi-retirement in Europe or whatever. So I’m happy that women are still suing him and pressing charges and really trying to make him pay for his decades of abuse. One woman – who is unnamed in court papers, going only by Jane Doe – has sued Weinstein, claiming that he sexually abused her for years. The details of the lawsuit are horrific – you can read Doe’s claims here.
Within the filing, Doe claims that one of the ways Weinstein tried to talk her into sleeping with him was by bragging about how he slept with Jennifer Lawrence. After he initially assaulted Doe at Sundance in 2013, months later they met again and this happened:
Later that year, she claims they met in NYC to discuss a film called, “Vampire Academy.” They had a dinner meeting and afterward they went to his office, and Doe claims he kneeled in front of her and forcibly performed oral sex on her. In the suit, she says she was sobbing … and Weinstein responded by saying, “I slept with Jennifer Lawrence and look where she is; she has just won an Oscar.”
I believe Doe’s story – that Weinstein forced himself on her and bragged/lied about J-Law – because it’s keeping with a million other stories we’ve heard about Weinstein. Many of his victims said that Weinstein’s M.O. was to “brag” about his “conquests” to them. Just as many stories involved Weinstein forcibly performing oral sex. After Doe’s lawsuit was filed, Jennifer Lawrence issued a statement through her rep:
“My heart breaks for all the women who were victimized by Harvey Weinstein. I have never had anything but a professional relationship with him. This is yet another example of the predatory tactics and lies that he engaged in to lure countless women.”
Weinstein also released a statement, wherein he whines about how Jane Doe is “defaming” him, etc. Whatever. I believe Jane Doe. And I believe Jennifer Lawrence too – I always believed her. I don’t think Weinstein ever assaulted her or pursued her or whatever. At most, I think he probably said inappropriate things to her, things which would be considered sexual harassment, stuff that Jennifer (and other women) would have minimized to herself, you know? As we saw with Darren Aronofsky and David O. Russell, Jennifer tends to not understand when powerful men are being abusive towards her.

First of all, I’m not trying to be clickbaity in the title, although I’m not above that. If I wrote out that the gift was “a shower curtain with their giant faces on it,” it wouldn’t fit in our title format of two lines. We keep them short so the layout is consistent on computers. Also I am covering this because I wanted to say that Ashton Kutcher is one of two celebrities I know of to have blocked me on Twitter. The other one is Jessica Alba. I don’t comment on celebrities’ tweets so they must not have liked it when we covered the stupid things they said. Anyway this story is funny and cute and I wanted to talk about it. Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis had a giant photo of themselves put on a shower curtain and they gave this as a gift to Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell. The image is above and here’s what Dax wrote:
daxshepardWhat a generous Christmas gift from the Kunis-Kutcher family. A beautiful shower curtain for the attic(t) bathroom!
I don’t listen to Dax Shepard’s podcast but I should because I could surely get a bunch of stories out of it. I think he records it in the attic bathroom he mentioned where there’s an inlaw suite, right? This shower curtain will be a great conversation piece there. E! reminds us that Dax is starring on The Ranch with Ashton on Netflix, which is helpful because no one watches that. Dax and Kristen were also on an episode of Punk’d.
Also, how cute a gift is this? It’s stupid, it’s funny and it’s perfect for rich people who don’t need anything. My favorite dumb celebrity gift/prank story is about Robert Redford and Paul Newman. I covered this ten years ago and I still think about it occasionally. These two sent a wrecked Porsche to each other. Redford sent the trashed Porsche to Newman for his 50th birthday. Newman had it compacted and sent it back! Then Redford hired a local sculptor to make it into garden art and sent it back to Newman. They never even talked about it!
Oh and remember how some woman came forward last week claiming to have hooked up with Dax 9 years ago, when he was dating his now wife, Kristen Bell. Dax wrote that it was 13 years ago and pointed out that the woman has sold stories about her relationships with other random celebrities including Kid Rock and Matthew Perry. Well Kristen hasn’t responded, but she did record a video thanking Dax for giving her a cordless Dyson vacuum. That was in her IG stories but I missed it. She posted a bunch of stuff from their holiday party though, including a weird table she had custom made last year for a white elephant gift. It had udders on it. The person who ended up with it had it adapted with kegs so that the beer came out of the udders! That’s genius. Sometimes I do get jealous of celebrities.
Dax and Ashton in 2004. They look so young!

Since I’m a ‘90s Girl, I have very clear memories of Shania Twain’s rise to power. Shania was a country artist, of course, but then she was one of the women who really took country twangin’ mainstream. Shania was one of the biggest crossover artists ever, in the history of country music. Almost like the proto-Taylor Swift, if you will. Back then, we had Shania and Faith Hill, and then in the late ‘90s, the Dixie Chicks had a huge amount of crossover cred. But who are the country-pop crossover artists today? Who are the biggest female names in country now? I would say Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Jennifer Nettles and… ?? While Carrie has had some crossover success, it does feel like there are only a handful of big-name women in country right now, and while they’re successful, none of them are really mirroring the Shania’s path. Shania has noticed too. She sat down with E! News to talk about the state of women in country music these days:
When asked about “women in country music today.” “What women?!” Shania continued to explain how disappointed she is that there are “too few” women in it. Female presence on the radio is a whole other can of worms, too. “We are not making radio progress, but we are making very small, steady steps towards awareness that we’re lacking women on country radio.”
A return to Real Country. “We have too much of the sameness right now. I’m a little bit bored of it, and I want to pick it up. The only way to do that is to be proactive. I wanted a show that, when you talk about diversity, that includes gender diversity, style diversity, lifestyle diversity.” She’s also “fed up with the ageist and sexist thing” when it comes to limits on helping talent break into the scene.
In her day: “When I first came on the scene in country music, the limits were way too narrow for me, and it was hard for me. There are a lot of artists out there who are intimidated of what they believe country music is…I want to show them there are no limits.” For any women out there wanting to get her foot in the door, the “Any Man of Mine” artist is all ears. She heeded, “I want to know who you are and I want to help you. I want to give you an opportunity.”
[From E! News]
While I’ve never been into country music, I respect Shania for trying to fight for the soul of country. It does seem like the country music scene has been overrun by the Bro Country types, the toxically masculine dudes who can only sing about redneck sh-t and getting drunk. While that definitely has a place in country music, the biggest country stars have always been the women, historically. And sometimes it feels like these music genres are going backwards, which is what Shania is talking about.

Kenya Moore is already thinking about giving her newborn daughter a sibling despite a difficult pregnancy and delivery. The 47-year-old Real Housewives of Atlanta alum gave birth to her daughter Brooklyn Doris on November 4.
Even though the reality star had more than her fair share of complications during her pregnancy including an emergency c-section Moore says she and her husband Marc Daly aren’t ruling out expanding their family.
Moore spoke to People this week and admitted, “I don’t know if my body can do it, but we would love to have one more. “I want a little boy!”
Moore went on to explain, “At first, when I was starting to feel really bad in my pregnancy, I was like, ‘I cannot possibly do this again.’ But within the first week after giving birth, I don’t know — I missed the baby bump! I missed the whole thing of carrying her, feeling her move inside me and all that stuff. I would love to feel that again.”
And if conceiving for a second time isn’t in the cards for Moore she is open to other possibilities like adoption. Becoming a mother has been a lifelong dream of Moore’s. “I finally have everything I’ve dreamed of,” Kenya Moore shares. “This little angel … she’s so beautiful. I feel so blessed. It’s all been so worth it.”
Since the reality star daughter’s arrival her husband Daly, 48, has been a doting father and his wife’s biggest support system. “He has been the best father. He changes her diaper. He even tried to dress her one day. He lays her on her stomach and they watch TV and just hang out together. He talks to her the whole time. He really has been the most incredible doting dad. It just makes me have more respect for him.”

And it sounds like her daughter is a strong little lady just like her mama. “She’s a strong baby. She doesn’t cry a whole lot, unless she’s hungry or she’s cold. You take her clothes off or give her a wipe that’s too cold, and then she starts wailing! But she makes 101 faces, and makes me laugh. … We’re so in love.”

Have you ever gone on a vacation or a business trip to Japan? If you have, you might not have just marveled at the beautiful scenery and modern technology you have seen, but also in the glowing, beautiful skin of the Japanese people.
Anyone who has been there always talks about how they observed that the Asian complexion seems to be free from blemishes and everyone seems to be younger than their actual age! This may be attributed to just how serious the Japanese take their skincare routine.
Unlike in the Western countries, who follow a 3-step routine of cleansing, toning and moisturizing, the Japanese have about at least 8 steps in their skincare regime. This routine is slowly getting attention in the West, and more and more people see not just the benefits of this routine, but also how good Japanese skincare products are. Check out the top benefits of using Japanese skincare products below.
1. You’re getting high quality, natural products – if you are looking for products that do not contain a lot of chemicals and synthetic ingredients, you’ll be glad to know that many Japanese skincare products are very light to the skin and make use of natural resources. You’ll see products made from rice, green tea, and even seaweed. Now, this may be something that does not bother you much, but you’ll also see products made from ingredients like snail mucin and the like. It might seem weird, but these products are very effective.
2. You don’t have to spend much to get results – if you go to Tokyo or major cities in the country, you’ll find thousands of shops for beauty products. The great thing about these products is that you do not have to break the bank in order to find one that will be effective.

Many Westerners would complain that some drugstore skincare brands do not work for them, and they need to spend hundreds of dollars to get a moisturizer that works, but with Japanese products, even the cheap ones are effective. Since the skin care industry in the country is very vast and popular, each brand really tries to compete and make theirs effective in order for the public to buy them.
3. You have a lot of options to choose from – here’s the great thing about Japanese skincare, there are so many products to choose from! This can frustrate some but if you love perusing through the aisles or looking online, this would be heaven for you. At sakuracosme.ca for example, you’ll find so many products, from essences, lotions, eye masks and even face masks in cute designs! There are face masks in cute cartoon designs for those who love quirky products. Since the Japanese skincare has at least eight to 10 steps, you’ll find yourself looking for the perfect cleanser, essence, scrub and so many more. They also move fast when it comes to having new products that are considered innovations and trends.

At this very moment, I’m giving myself a chance to feel a small glimmer of hope that the British tabloids have punched themselves out about Duchess Meghan. Punched themselves out… for the time being. We still have a little bit more than a week to go until Christmas. There’s the Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace to look forward to, and then the Christmas morning church walk at Sandringham, and then the end-of-the-year event numbers for all the royals. The British papers will have stories connected to those events in the weeks to come, and so it’s my hope that we’re done with the smear campaign for the moment. So consider this the last gasp, the last attempts to gin up some kind of drama.
The Daily Mail reported this weekend that Kensington Palace has officially confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be spending Christmas at Sandringham. We heard this weeks ago, but the palace is just confirming it now. Will and Kate will not be in Bucklebury. They will be at Anmer Hall. Well, that’s an assumption on my part – the Daily Mail noted: “Kensington Palace today confirmed the couples would be spending the day at the royal estate but could not confirm where they would spend the remainder of the festive period.” There’s also no palace confirmation about who is staying where within the Sandringham property. But The Sun’s sources claim that Harry and Meghan have turned down William and Kate’s offer to stay at Anmer Hall:
Prince Harry and Meghan have snubbed Wills and Kate this Christmas, The Sun can reveal. The Sussexes will be with the Queen at Sandringham amid increasing rumours of a rift between the two couples. Harry and mum-to-be Meghan turned down the option of staying at Wills and Kate’s Norfolk home Anmer Hall, where they had a “fantastic” time with the kids last year.
A royal source said: “There’s not a huge amount of room at Sandringham so it’s quite surprising. Maybe they just want their own space. Things are civil between the couples but they don’t spend much time together.”
[From The Sun]
I seem to remember calling this weeks ago, but honestly, it’s a blur. I said that Prince Charles rode in and saved the day (at least according to HIS version of events) and ordered William and Kate to invite the Sussexes to Anmer. And I said that offer would put Meg and Harry in an uncomfortable position either way – they could stay with the Cambridges and have to hear about how Mean Diva Meg made Poor Kate Cry White Tears for the second Christmas in a row, or they could decline the offer and then the story is “Diva Meg refuses to be in the same house as Steel Marshmallow Kate.” When really, if there is still a beef, the beef is mostly about William and Harry. Anyhoodle… I hope Meghan and Harry just stay at the main Sandringham house and not Anmer.

Before “the smearing of Duchess Meghan” really took hold in the British papers for the past month, there was an interesting story about how the Queen was a big fan of Doria Ragland, and the Queen wanted to ensure that Meghan and Doria could spend Christmas together, so the Queen invited Doria to Sandringham for Christmas. As I pointed out at the time, the Countess of Wessex is allowed to invite her widower father to Sandringham too, so it made some kind of sense (to me) that Meghan would be allowed to invite her only close family. Only now royal reporter Victoria Murphy says Doria probably won’t come? But the wording being used it weird:
Despite rumours that Her Maj had bent the rules by inviting Meghan Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland to join in, according to one royal expert has claimed this isn’t the case. Speaking to Yahoo UK’s The Royal Box, Victoria Murphy explained it’s unlikely Doria was ever invited, as it’s “not usual” for in-laws to attend.
“My understanding is that she’s not going,” said Victoria. “I don’t think that’s because they weren’t able to or anything like that, I just think it’s not usual for in-laws to go. I know it was suggested that she was going to go but that was never confirmed.”
Royal biographer Duncan Larcombe added: “That would have been such a break, such an enormous break from royal tradition… She was never going to go. That doesn’t mean she wouldn’t be welcome and she is very welcome within the royal fold but Sandringham’s special.”
[From The Sun]
Does any reporter know for sure or are they just shutting down the story because “it’s not usual for in-laws to go”? Doria has been making some quiet trips to the UK since her daughter married Harry, and I tend to believe that Doria will be in England for Christmas or around Christmas too – maybe she’ll be at Sandringham, maybe she won’t. But I’m sure Meghan will make her mom a priority around a holidays.

I didn’t realize that Benedict Cumberbatch’s Brexit movie was also an HBO production. I thought it was just some crappy, low-budget British-television production which was thrown together at the last minute. My original qualm about this movie, Brexit, was about Benedict’s sad baby-bird vibe when he shaved his hairline to look mostly bald. My second qualm was that the script sounded awful, and like they were focusing on the wrong part of the Brexit story, which is still unfolding. Much like all of us American peeps don’t completely understand the extent of the Russian interference in the 2016 election, British peeps don’t completely understand the patchwork of shenanigans (some of it illegal) that created the Brexit vote in 2016. But that didn’t stop HBO from making this movie with Benedict as the “mastermind” behind the Brexit campaign, Dominic Cummings. The trailer was just released:
First of all, this just looks like a sh-tty movie, and bless his heart, Benedict is not a natural at accent work. Second of all, imagine if HBO was releasing a film right NOW, in the middle of the Mueller investigation, in which Paul Manafort is being played by, like, Tom Hanks, and Hanks is making Manafort into some kind of brilliant, Sherlockian antihero. It would be called what it is: propaganda, or entertainment malpractice, if you will. As many have pointed out, Britain doesn’t even have an all-encompassing investigation into what went down during the Brexit/Leave campaign – there is no British equivalent of the Mueller investigation. There have been smaller investigations, like the one done by the UK Electoral Commission, which found that the “Vote Leave” campaign broke the law. And the British investigations into the data-mining and manipulations by Cambridge Analytica have not gotten very far.
British journalist Carole Cadwalladr did an excellent Twitter thread about why “Brexit starring Benedict Cumberbatch” is a terrible thing, although she deleted some of the brilliant points she made, these points hold up:
You’re heroicising a man in contempt of parliament. We don’t know the facts still. Because he refuses to tell parliament. But this character with the ‘software’ is bullshit. The ‘physicists’ are still unknown. The work was not declared. Electoral commission refused to investigate
— Carole Cadwalladr (@carolecadwalla) December 15, 2018
I’ve deleted my tweets. I meant no criticism of James Graham. I’m just hugely frustrated by ongoing cover-up by govt & opposition. Fiction difficult in absence of basic facts. But seems film funded by Trump donor & Putin chum is closest we will get to a public inquiry, so enjoy https://t.co/tOLdqxntG2
— Carole Cadwalladr (@carolecadwalla) December 15, 2018
This also made me think about Vice, the movie about Dick Cheney’s life, which is picking up a ton of big nominations this awards season. I have concerns that the film will legitimize Cheney or make people like him because people like Christian Bale. But the timing is very different – Cheney has been out of public office for ten years. The discussion about his questionable legacy of “public service” is fair game, and we have a better handle on all the sh-t he did in office. Not enough time has passed since the Brexit vote, and the controversy is still very much ONGOING.

GAH Rosamund Pike is so beautiful. You know what I think about too much? How weird it is that she’s not typecast permanently in period dramas and “English rose” roles. It’s strange that someone who looks like dictionary definition of “English aristocrat” plays so many Americans and rough-and-tumble types. Incidentally, I feel the same way about Michelle Dockery – she also has that haughty, aristocratic look. Rosamund covers the Dec/Jan 2019 issue of Town & Country to promote A Private War, the bio-pic of American journalist Marie Colvin. I think there’s a good chance Rosamund will be getting some big award nominations for this. You can read T&C’s cover story here. Some highlights:
Rosamund actually shrank to play Marie: The actress worked so hard to blend into the character she actually shrank— from hunching her shoulders to mimic Marie’s posture. “When I went for a medical examination after A Private War,” she says, “I was one and a half centimeters shorter.”
Her respect for war reporters: “It was an homage to her, but also an homage to journalists.”
On her hope for audiences after seeing A Private War: “I want people to care about journalism again.”
Her ordinary life with her partner & two sons: “I want to recreate the childhood that I had for my own children,” she says, adding that she tries to expose them to books and music and raise them with no sense of entitlement. When she and her family wander around London, they do it on the Tube. “People might recognize me, but I think they just see me as a mother trying to handle small kids on the subway.”
She gave birth to her second son early, in her mother’s apartment. “There was no time for pain medication, no time to get to the clinic, so I just let my body take over. I thought, If I can let my mind go somewhere else, my body will do the job.” Her son arrived healthy, but Pike believes her body absorbed the trauma and can recall it.
[From Town & Country]
Her description of her second birth is going to give me nightmares. I know a lot of women forgo drugs and hospital births, but they make that decision ahead of time as part of their birthing plan. The idea that labor is happening so fast that you can’t even make it to the hospital and you just have to give birth where you are, with no drugs? Nightmare. As for caring about journalism… Town & Country even name-checks Donald Trump and his repeated fascistic statements that journalists are “the enemies of the people.” Journalism matters. Smart journalism matters. So I hope this movie is really good (the reviews are great).

Tori Roloff of Little People, Big World is speaking out against the mommy haters. People give her a really hard time on social networks. She isn’t going to take it from them, though. Tori actually went to her Instagram page and shared her thoughts on what they have to say to her. She isn’t a fan of the haters.
Tori simply posted a picture of her son Jackson, but then she went on to share her thoughts. She started her post saying, “I wanted to share something that has been on my heart lately. *
I feel like I do this every now and again to reiterate why I’m here and what I hope to use my platform for.” It is great that she can use her social networks for positive things.
After that, Tori Roloff went on to explain about all of the haters she has to deal with on a daily basis on her posts. The reality star can’t just simply share a picture of her family without dealing with people having rude things to say to her. This is something that all reality stars sadly have to deal with all the time. A lot of people aren’t afraid to say things when they are behind a computer screen that they would never say to anyone’s face.
She really feels like part of the reason is the fact that she is being very honest. Tori shares about her life and doesn’t hold back. One thing that she revealed is that she really wants her Instagram to be a positive place, but she can’t do that with all of the comments she gets daily. Tori obviously isn’t one of those people that can just ignore it.

Tori Roloff also wanted everyone to know that she didn’t post this on purpose just to get people to tell her what a great mom she is, but instead it was about hoping that people would start lifting each other up. It is really sweet that Tori wants women to treat each other the right way. Hopefully, a few learn from what she has to say.
What do you think of what Tori Roloff had to say against the mommy haters? Let us know in the comments section below, and don’t miss new episodes of Little People, Big World when they return to TLC. Even though Audrey and Jeremy Roloff decided to leave, Tori and her husband Zach will be back again.
