Kat Von D is a POS anti semite and an outspoken antivaxxer, I’ll just start with that. I won’t buy her makeup brand anymore. Kat and her equally goth tattooed husband, Prayers singer Leafar Seyer, welcomed their first child, Leafar Von D Reyes, earlier this month. In a new post she shared to Instagram, Kat revealed that her milk didn’t come in soon enough so she had to ask for breastmilk donations for her baby. (I can’t embed that here as it has a sweet video of sleepy Leafar nursing.) Kat did what she thought was best for her baby’s health and asked her midwife if she knew any vegan nursing moms who would donate milk. A donor came through, Kat’s milk came in, and Leafar was fine. Here’s what she wrote:
During the first two days of Leafar’s life, his blood sugar count had been low, and as much as I had committed myself to strictly breastfeed, my milk hadn’t come in yet. The pediatrician suggested asking around to see if any friends might have a bit of extra milk they could donate – and if not, I’d have to consider supplementing with formula – something we personally did not want to do. I called my beloved midwife, @losangelesmidwife to see if she knew anyone who might be willing to share a bit of their breastmilk who was on a plant-based diet, as that was crucial to us, and she quickly connected me with @mattersofmotherhood who, without even knowing me, and without question, stepped up and donated a few ounces to us in the middle of the night. Needless to say, Leafar’s levels boosted, and we are now happily breastfeeding at home. Can’t thank @mattersofmotherhood enough for getting us through those rough nights with your donation. This is true community. True sisterhood. True kindness. And I can’t wait to pay it forward one day soon. ?
[From Instagram via People]
Her baby is adorable. A lot of people raise their kids vegan and there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s also a choice to get a baby donated breastmilk from a donor who follows your preferred diet, and Kat is very privileged to have enough connections to be able to do that. There’s a growing awareness, through the #FedIsBest movement, of moms feeling pressured to solely breastfeed and the issue of babies needing supplementation. I wish Kat would have included a line or two about how there’s no shame in feeding formula to a baby but I truly doubt she thinks that.
Also I just learned that Kat did a homebirth documentary. I bet we’ll soon be hearing all about that.

Crazy Rich Asians is going to the Golden Globes. It will not win any Golden Globes. But they’ll be at the party, at one of the most watched award shows, and the first major award show of the year, right after the New Year. This is visibility. And visibility is important. So, sure, even though the co…
Here are some photos of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas in New Delhi, because I guess we haven’t gotten enough new photos of them in the past two weeks. Instead of quietly going on their honeymoon, they decided to attend the launch event for the Bumble app, which Priyanka is invested in, apparently. So… this appearance was sort of sponsored, in that Priyanka profits from Bumble becoming more widely known and used. I would expect nothing less from the sponcon extravaganza. According to YET ANOTHER EXCLUSIVE with People Magazine, Priyanka and Nick are headed off on a honeymoon somewhere, and they are thinking of babies:
Priyanka Chopra, 36, and Nick Jonas, 26, are looking forward to their private honeymoon “at some resort somewhere in the world,” the actress jokingly tells PEOPLE exclusively for this week’s cover story. The globe-trotting couple also has to decide where to call home. Despite their busy careers, the two are “determined to prioritize each other in everything we do,” says Jonas. “And make every day special whether together or apart.”
Thus far, the bride and groom have made a pact “to speak multiple times a day and try and not go more than two weeks without seeing each other,” Chopra adds. “Distance can be hard on any relationship, but it has actually made us that much closer.”
As for starting a family, the couple plan to take things as they come. “I always say, ‘Man proposes, God disposes.’ So I’m not taking any chances,” says Chopra. “We definitely want kids, and when the time is right, it will happen.”
For now, the memories of one incredible weekend are all they need. “Let us be married first for a while before we have to make all these big decisions,” says Jonas, laughing. “We’re in our honeymoon period right now and we will be for a very long time.”
[From People]
Oh, lord. It honestly just occurred to me – right at this very moment – that their honeymoon could be a sponcon extravaganza too. Remember Pippa Middleton’s honeymoon tour? Pri and Nick’s honeymoon could be like that, only a million times worse because of their additional sponsorships and their ability to court the international press. As for this interview.. they haven’t even decided where they’ll live??

Most political professionals believe that Donald Trump is screwed… long-term. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but Trump cannot survive. Beyond that, everything is unknown. Will there be impeachment proceedings? Will Mike Pence get caught up in everything legally? Will Mother’s Husband eventually need to take over and become president? Well, Vanity Fair has a new story which…made me laugh, honestly. According to VF’s White House sources, everyone in the White House is “freaking out” about the Michael Flynn memo, and they’ve convinced themselves that Robert Mueller’s investigation is nearing the “endgame,” and it will only get worse (for Trump & Company) from here. But what of Mother’s Husband?
But the ominous signs of Mueller’s progress have not completely overwhelmed other subplots. On Monday, Trump hosted a 2020 strategy meeting with a group of advisers. Among the topics discussed was whether Mike Pence should remain on the ticket, given the hurricane-force political headwinds Trump will face, as demonstrated by the midterms, a source briefed on the session told me. “They’re beginning to think about whether Mike Pence should be running again,” the source said, adding that the advisers presented Trump with new polling that shows Pence doesn’t expand Trump’s coalition. “He doesn’t detract from it, but he doesn’t add anything either,” the source said.
Last month, The New York Times reported that Trump had been privately asking advisers if Pence could be trusted, and that outside advisers have been pushing Nikki Haley to replace Pence. One veteran of Trump’s 2016 campaign who’s still advising Trump told me the president hasn’t been focused enough on 2020. “What he needs to do is consider his team for 2020 and make sure it’s in place,” the adviser said. “He has to have people on his team that are loyal to his agenda.”
Trump’s doubts about Pence are surprising given Pence’s frequent public encomiums and professions of loyalty. “Trump waxes and wanes on everyone,” a prominent Republican close to the White House explained. Part of what’s driving the debate over Pence’s political value is Trump’s stalled search for a chief of staff to replace John Kelly. According to a source, Kelly has recently been telling Trump that Pence doesn’t help him politically. The theory is that Kelly is unhappy that Pence’s 36-year-old chief of staff, Nick Ayers, has been openly campaigning for Kelly’s job. “Kelly has started to get more political and he’s whispering to Trump that Trump needs a running mate who can help him more politically,” the source said.
[From Vanity Fair]
I never get tired of the stupid palace intrigue from the Royal House of Orange. It’s cute that Trump thinks he’ll even have a chance to run again in 2020, but sure, I’m not going to stop him if he wants to overthrow Mother’s Husband. Throwing Pence out would actually solve a lot of problems. Although, let’s be honest, it’s not going to happen. Mother’s Husband is still going to be sitting there in the West Wing, quietly eating his fruit plate for a few more years.

Here are some of the bigger film nominations for Golden Globes – you can see the full list of 2019 Golden Globes nominations here. I’ve been saying for weeks that it didn’t seem like there was one clear-cut front-runner Oscar contender, and these Globes nominations haven’t done much to change my mind. It’s clear that the HFPA loves Vice, Green Book and… BlacKkKlansman, which wasn’t on many shortlist predications I saw. And of course, A Star Is Born is the closest thing we have to a front runner. The big nominations:
Best Motion Picture – Drama
Black Panther
BlacKkKlansman
Bohemian Rhapsody
If Beale Streat Could Talk
A Star Is Born
Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy
Crazy Rich Asians
The Favourite
Green Book
Mary Poppins Returns
Vice
Best Director
Bradley Cooper, A Star Is Born
Alfonso Cuarón, Roma
Peter Farrelly, Green Book
Spike Lee, BlacKkKlansman
Adam McKay, Vice
Lead Actress in a Drama
Glenn Close, The Wife
Lady Gaga, A Star Is Born
Nicole Kidman, Destroyer
Melissa McCarthy, Can You Ever Forgive Me?
Rosamund Pike, A Private War
Lead Actor in a Drama
Bradley Cooper, A Star is Born
Willem Defoe, At Eternity’s Gate
Lucas Hedges, Boy Erased
Rami Malek, Bohemian Rhapsody
John David Washington, BlacKkKlansman
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture
Mahershala Ali, Green Book
Timothée Chalamet, Beautiful Boy
Adam Driver, BlacKkKlansman
Richard E. Grant, Can You Ever Forgive Me?
Sam Rockwell, Vice
Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture
Amy Adams, Vice
Claire Foy, First Man
Regina King, If Beale Street Could Talk
Emma Stone, The Favourite
Rachel Weisz, The Favourite
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy
Emily Blunt, Mary Poppins Returns
Olivia Colman, The Favourite
Esie Fisher, Eighth Grade
Charlize Theron, Tully
Constance Wu, Crazy Rich Asians
Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy
Christian Bale (“Vice”)
Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Mary Poppins Returns”)
Viggo Mortensen (“Green Book”)
Robert Redford (“The Old Man & the Gun”)
John C. Reilly (“Stan & Ollie”)
Is this the year that Regina King wins an Oscar? It’s more than possible that Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone cancel each other out in the supporting category. I think Emily Blunt and Constance Wu might battle it out in Comedy… and I’m still not convinced that Green Book is going to keep up the pace by the Oscar nominations. But mostly, my takeaway is that Vice is a bigger contender than people realized.
Notable snubs: no Julia Roberts for Ben Is Back, no Olivia Colman in The Favourite, no First Reformed or Ethan Hawke, NO WIDOWS, no Ryan Gosling for First Man (and the film didn’t make the Drama cut), NOTHING for Black Panther. Sigh.

Here are some of the bigger TV nominations for Golden Globes – you can see the full list of 2019 Golden Globes nominations here. I’m putting the film and TV nominations into separate posts, just because there are so many, and it’s worth discussing them separately. The Golden Globes come on earlier and earlier every year, it feels like – this year’s Globes ceremony happens on Sunday, January 9th at 8 pm. It will be hosted by Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg, that was just announced last night. Some of the big nominations:
COMEDY OR MUSICAL SERIES
Barry
The Good Place
Kidding
The Kominsky Method
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
DRAMA SERIES
The Americans
Bodyguard
Homecoming
Killing Eve
Pose

Kristen Bell, The Good Place
Candice Bergen, Murphy Brown
Alison Brie, GLOW
Rachel Brosnahan, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Debra Messing, Will & Grace
COMEDY OR MUSICAL SERIES ACTOR
Sacha Baron Cohen, Who Is America

TV-MOVIE OR MINISERIES

A Very English Scandal, Prime Video
TV-MOVIE OR MINISERIES – ACTOR

Patricia Arquette, Escape At Dannemora
Laura Dern, The Tale
Regina King, Seven Seconds
ACTRESS – DRAMA

Elisabeth Moss (“Handmaid’s Tale”)
Sandra Oh (“Killing Eve”)
Julia Roberts (“Homecoming”)
Keri Russell (“The Americans”)
ACTOR – DRAMA
Jason Bateman
Stephan James
Richard Madden
Billy Porter
Matthew Rhys
My big takeaway is that… with Netflix, Amazon Studios and Hulu, there’s a real lack of frontrunner, water-cooler TV shows these days. Pretty much the only TV show that everyone watches is Game of Thrones. I honestly haven’t heard of some of the nominated shows, and I write about entertainment sh-t for a living!! Other notables: it’s nice to see so much love for The Good Place. I’m surprised that Benedict Cumberbatch got nominated for Patrick Melrose, but the miniseries didn’t get nominated. I feel like the Versace miniseries is probably the low-key favorite for many of the big awards. What else? Justice for The Americans, at long last. And the Globes love Hugh Grant.

George and Amal Clooney stepped out in New York last night for the 23rd Annual United Nations Correspondents Associations (UNCA) Awards. They were joined by George’s parents. The Clooney family came out to support Amal, because she received the UNCA’s Global Citizen of the Year Award. Since it was her night, Amal wore a new frock – a navy and cream J.Mendel gown and NO coat. It’s very cold in New York at night, isn’t it? It’s freezing down here in the mid-Atlantic, I guess I just assumed it was freezing in New York as well. Still, Amal has shown time and time again that she’ll do anything for THE LOOK.
I honestly had a moment of “why is the UNCA honoring Amal, a lawyer, this year?” But then I remembered that she’s taken on several cases involving press freedom, and journalists being imprisoned for trying to shed light on dictatorships, fascist governments, etc. Amal’s speech was about press freedom too:
As the event’s Global Citizen of the Year honoree, the international human rights lawyer gave an impassioned speech about the threats to the safety of journalists, citing specific cases of imprisonment in Myanmar and by “autocratic regimes” around the globe. She then brought up Trump, accusing him of emboldening others to attack the press.
“The U.S. president has given such regimes a green light and labeled the press in this country the enemy of the people,” the Lebanese-British lawyer told the crowd gathered in New York City, alluding to his frequent condemnation of “fake news” and insults aimed at news outlets like CNN. Clooney referred to the murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi two months ago at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.
[From Yahoo]
Yes, pretty much. Wasn’t it established, weeks ago, that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman only felt like he had the greenlight to have Khashoggi murdered because he knew, from Trump’s fascistic anti-press rhetoric, that the American government would do nothing in response? Trump’s anti-free-press stance has had a chilling effect not only on American media outlets, but international media and foreign journalists too.

I could have sworn Sherri Shepherd, 51, lost weight just a few years ago, but that was way back in 2009, when she lost over 40 pounds. This reminds me of Oprah in that Sherri’s reveal was so memorable. Sherri came out onto the set of The View in a bathing suit and was presented a bunch of smorgasboard of cheat food as a reward, it was weird. (There’s no shame in gaining it back. I also lost weight around then, gained it back plus some and then lost it again. That’s the dieting cycle for you.)
Sherri left The View in 2014 and does steady TV acting work along with doing standup. The last we reported on her was three years ago, when she was dealing with tricky custody drama involving her shady ex and a surrogate baby, born after they split, which was not hers biologically and which she didn’t raise.
Sherri thinks she’s found the answer in the keto diet, which is a low carbohydrate, moderate protein diet. We’ve talked about it here before and some of you swear by it. It sounds punishing to me, but I’m a sugar addict and I get super tired every afternoon so I have no room to talk. Sherri has type 2 diabetes, she was diagnosed in 2007, so this change was even more important to her health. She wrote the following post on Instagram about the 25 pounds she’s lost and her motivation to make this change – her 13 year-old son. (This post is from August but People Magazine just covered it, which is how I found it.)

Tried on some swimsuits from @Torridfashion & they fit!!! It’s been a long journey full of prayer, self-encouragement, wanting food, craving sugar … forgiveness when I fall, cajoling myself into the gym & onto a jump rope… crying when I did 3 min of jump rope (may not be a lot to you but THREE min jumping rope- almost took me out??) … thankful for the love & encouragement along the way of friends & some beautiful people I met on IG … at 168.4 lbs, I am still not where I want to be but I feel AMAZING! Mental clarity, focus and more discipline due to removing #sugar from my life (154 days #sugarfree)… as I was eating a Reese’s Cup, Jeffrey asked me who was going to be his bodyguard if I died … hit me like a ton of bricks. So much going on… I was trying to numb myself with food so much so that my son was having anxiety attacks. I realized God had given me everything I needed to take control of my health… I feel like I am getting there one choice at a time. Hopefully this encourages you ???? #sherrishepherd #singlemom #workinghard #teamhealthy #keto #lovemyson #nothinggoodcomeseasy #bekindtoyourself

Halle Berry has type 1 (juvenile) diabetes and she follows a keto diet as well. PopSugar has a breakdown of Halle’s diet as shared on Instagram and it looks super healthy. I would say it also looks like it’s not enough calories but some of her choices, like soft cheese and meat sauce, can be calorie dense.
As for Sherri’s choice, I can relate to eating Reese’s and then feeling like crap and not wanting to see the connection. I asked my doctor to test for type 2 diabetes due to other issues that could be related and thankfully the results were normal. My issue with sugar is one of those “if you think you have a problem” things. There’s got to be a better balance between going full keto and eating like crap. Maybe I don’t need ice cream every day. Also Sherri looks great and more than that she feels great, so that’s what counts. This camo dress though.

Most people are multifaceted and capable of astounding grace, class and dignity, even if they’ve also done terrible things politically or socially. I’m not a fan of George W. Bush and I could go on and on about how his presidency destroyed the country before Trump, but this week, I’m not going to start. He’s just a man grieving for his father, and Dubya is doing the best he can.
I’m also going to say this, knowing that many disagree: I do think it’s charming that W. Bush and Michelle Obama are so friendly. He flat-out adores her, and she always has nice things to say about him too. At John McCain’s memorial service in Washington in September, a small moment between Michelle and Dubya went viral: he furtively passed her a piece of candy, like they were both naughty schoolkids who were going to get in trouble if anyone caught them. At his father’s funeral service in Washington yesterday, W. Bush did it again. After he greeted the Trumps and Barack Obama with handshakes, he once again passed a piece of candy to Michelle:
Former U.S. President George W. Bush slipped Michelle Obama another treat at his father’s funeral, just as he did months ago at John McCain’s funeral pic.twitter.com/qg9J8DHZ6x
— Reuters Top News (@Reuters) December 5, 2018
It says to me that Bush was aware of how that moment from McCain’s memorial went viral, and he also knows that his connection to the Obamas helps his legacy too. But mostly, I just think he’s sweet on Michelle. Here’s Dubya’s eulogy for his father:
Beyond the candy moment, George HW Bush’s funeral was a hotbed of political gossip. Barack Obama is still so well-received by everyone, even hardcore Republicans (even Dick Cheney seems to like him). Donald Trump made the effort to shake hands with both Obamas (Michelle looked disgusted), and Hillary Clinton flat-out ignored the fat fascist.
