There does seem to be some low-key Lindsay Lohan nostalgia, and perhaps her larger absence from the daily gossip cycles has led people to whitewash her old drama. Like, I won’t deny that Lindsay was “good for gossip.” She made my job easier. She was a gossip cottage industry for years, and one of the biggest headlines and trainwrecks. So when did it all change? I think it was when she moved to Europe, and then Dubai, and she stopped pretending to even have an acting career. I tend to believe that she’s supported herself through attachments to wealthy, shady men. And those are the kinds of liaisons which need discretion, so she began to be a bit quieter to protect her income. That’s when people just started losing interest. It’s not that Lindsay changed, it’s that we got bored with her. She’s still the same cracked-out drama queen as always. And her Paper Magazine interview proves it. You can read the full piece here. Some highlights:
She doesn’t know why she gets such negative press: “I would love to know why I get constantly clobbered in the press. I could do 99 things right and one thing wrong, but it’s that one thing that will be focused on. Behind the scenes I do what I can to be the best version of me, which never gets mentioned. I am also human. I make mistakes. That’s all that seems to get reported.”
Why she lives in Dubai:“It’s not that much of a thing here [in Dubai]. People don’t emphasize negativity.” Instead, she says, the city is a “health-conscious place” that “promotes positivity and a positive attitude. It’s not like New York, the city that never sleeps.”
The paparazzi. “In America, even once they get the picture, they still follow you. It does bring out a serious kind of anxiety.” She adds that in Mykonos, where one of her Lohan Beach House resorts is located, there are only two paparazzi, and she knows both of them.
The Lohan Beach House is family-friendly: “I really wanted to make it a family-style beach. A place where people can go with their kids and feel safe. They can have fun and there’s not cameras every second. It’s not just a party thing; you can have a nice lunch.”
She’s a homebody now: “I am who I am. I’m a good person. I take care of myself. I’m healthy. I like to have fun, but that doesn’t mean I need to go out and drink and be crazy. I have a good relationship with that. It’s funnier to watch other people party. My brother and his wife came out to Mykonos and everyone wanted to go out every night, but I pretty much just went home; some of my friends didn’t want to go out, so they’d come and I’d cook. I like cooking for people and having people over and listening to good music.”
What she thinks of MeToo: “I don’t really get involved in that. I’m all for empowering women and sticking by each other, but I’m not really — I haven’t experienced a lot of that stuff, so it’s not something I can really quote on.”
All she’s ever wanted to do is work: “That was kind of taken away from me for a while, when I was going through a lot. I was spending money on going to treatment centers because the court was making me. It was hard for me to continue working, because when would I even find the time? I love working with kids and I love giving back,” she says, but “people don’t like talking about the good stuff. It’s really crazy to me and makes me really sad. A lot of people do a lot of good things for other people, and it’s like a flash in the pan, where if it’s something negative it sticks with you forever.”
Aliana Lohan is “buzzing” around the photoshoot: She’s already visited Dubai five times, she says, echoing Lindsay’s comments that the people there are “so, so kind. Including those Saudi princes,” she adds with a playful grin.
On that recent incident where she live-streamed herself as she tried to kidnap children: She offers a statement later through a rep over email: “I read the situation wrong. I’ve learned from it. And that’s all I have to say.”
[From Paper Magazine]
I mean… it’s the same old narcissism, the same old lies. She’s always said that she’s just a simple homebody who doesn’t even like to party – and then she gets high and wrecks a car, or throws a drink on someone at a club, or tries to drunkenly kidnap children on the street. When her MTV show blows up in her face, we’ll hear the same things then too. As for Aliana…that poor child never had a chance.
MTV released the first trailer for Lindsay’s reality show. This looks SO BAD.

For years now, there’s been a low-key conversation about the Christmas song “Baby It’s Cold Outside.” It’s a half-chatty/half-singy duet which first appeared in the 1949 film Neptune’s Daughter (although it was written in 1944). Here’s how people were originally introduced to the song:
Over the years, “Baby It’s Cold Outside” has become something of a Christmas classic, and many artists have covered it. It has the potential to be playful, but it mostly comes across as seriously creepy, like a guy is trying to roofie a girl and get her to stay the night with him, and he won’t take no for an answer. Key & Peele also did a parody of the song which underlined how creepy it is. But for all of those conversations – which have been happening for years – no radio station has ever thought to ban it. Until now:
Over the last several years, many have called the song “date-rapey” in reference to the lyrics “Say, what’s in this drink?” The song details a back-and-forth, traditionally between a man and a woman, where the man tries to convince a woman to stay the night despite her continued protests, saying, “The answer is no.”
It seems the station received a call complaining the song is inappropriate in 2018, and after a listener poll on the WDOK website supported this sentiment, they decided to ban the song from their Christmas radio play. “People might say, ‘oh, enough with that #MeToo,’ but if you really put that aside and listen to the lyrics, it’s not something I would want my daughter to be in that kind of a situation,” midday host Desiray told Cleveland’s Fox 8. “The tune might be catchy, but let’s maybe not promote that sort of an idea.”
In a blog post on the station’s website, radio host Glenn Anderson further explained the decision, writing, “I gotta be honest, I didn’t understand why the lyrics were so bad…Until I read them.” He concluded, “Now, I do realize that when the song was written in 1944, it was a different time, but now while reading it, it seems very manipulative and wrong. The world we live in is extra sensitive now, and people get easily offended, but in a world where #MeToo has finally given women the voice they deserve, the song has no place. “
The song continues to be divisive in today’s cultural climate, and for WKOD, it seems the easiest thing is simply to say that when it comes to ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside,’ the answer is no.
[From People]
And so now there’s like a backlash to the backlash, about how people are too damn sensitive and it’s a Christmas classic and Big Feminism Is Destroying Christmas or whatever. I personally can’t stand the song, but I never really thought about whether it should be flat-out banned from radio stations. It’s also worth noting that there are some interpretations of the song where MAYBE it could be about a woman who really does want to spend the night but she’s worried about what people will say. But… it still feels really date-rapey.

Some people don’t believe that all of the royal and royal-periphery stories are connected. Some people think that there is no real “campaign” against the Duchess of Sussex, and that the Duchess of Cambridge has clean hands, and she’s just as much a victim as Meghan, and that Kate’s mother Carole just happens to be giving interviews right now and it’s just a coincidence, and not part of any scheme hatched by the royal Bucklebury court. As it turns out, Carole not only gave that interview to the Telegraph, but she’s also given another interview to Good Housekeeping. It seems like Kate got her “don’t forget about meeeee” urges straight from her mummy – Carole seems especially triggered now that Doria Ragland was accepted so quickly into the royal fold. So, the Daily Mail is asking what’s behind Carole’s moves as of late. And yes, the only thing they can come up with is that the Middletons have been thrown for such a loop because of Meghan.
Carole is baffling the courtiers: Her decision suddenly to grant not just one, but two, softly-softly magazine interviews has left courtiers baffled and also a little uneasy. First, she appeared in a broadsheet Telegraph newspaper’s colour supplement on Sunday. Now, she has also been interviewed in the new edition of Good Housekeeping magazine. Is this, they wonder, the start of some new public relations strategy, or it simply a sign of the business-savvy drive of the very practical Mrs Middleton? That the interviews appear at the very moment questions are being asked about her daughter’s frosty relationship with her royal sister-in-law, the Duchess of Sussex, is surely a coincidence.
Carole is adding to the intrigue: Palace officials have been desperate to downplay talk of a rift between Kate and Meghan, and insist there has been no falling out which has affected their husbands’ closeness. Nevertheless, aides privately concede that the two duchesses do not get on particularly well. So Carole’s decision to speak now, however coincidental, has only served to add to the intrigue. Until Meghan and her very unconventional family came along, the Middletons were the number one in-laws. Welcomed into the Royal Family by William, they have been given front row seats at almost every key event since his Westminster Abbey wedding to their daughter in 2011….But Meghan’s arrival has undoubtedly upset this particular royal applecart. The former actress’s fluent public appearances and the grace and dignity of her mother Doria, as well as her father Thomas Markle’s bizarre pre-wedding meltdown, have made her a firm favourite.
Meghan is a star & that worries the Middletons: With Harry by some distance the most admired royal after the Queen, he and Meghan have become one of the most glamorous couples on the planet. His popularity and her campaigning zeal are fast turning the Sussexes into a daringly modern royal power couple. Factor in, too, Meghan’s pregnancy, which means another grandparent sharing the limelight with Prince Charles. Some say this has all had a knock-on effect on the perception of William and Kate with the public. Next year, when Harry and Meghan become parents, all eyes will be on them even more. And on softly-spoken Doria.
Charles has become a huge admirer of Doria Ragland: While his relationship with the Middletons has been cordial rather than close, he has been irked that they have been closer to the grandchildren than he has been. Some in royal circles suggest that as a consequence he has wanted to build a closer understanding with Harry’s mother-in-law. These competing dynamics make Mrs Middleton’s interviews with the Telegraph and Good Housekeeping so intriguingly timed.
Did Carole get William’s permission for the interviews? ‘Make no mistake, Carole would not have done it if there had been any objections,’ says an old friend of the Middletons. ‘In all these years, she hasn’t put a foot wrong, and while she doesn’t rock the boat she would also have wanted to ensure there was approval.’ The disclosure that Kate sent her a text to wish her good luck ahead of the photoshoot indicates that her eldest daughter was in on it. Pippa and their brother James also gave their support to the project. ‘It was very much a family decision,’ a close source tells me. ‘The feeling was ‘why not’? Thirty years is a fantastic anniversary and is something to celebrate.’
[From The Daily Mail]
If I say what I’m really thinking, I feel like the Keen Defenders will really be mad at me. But here goes: I think it took Meghan’s entrance into the royal fold for the entire Middleton family to really understand how poorly they played everything for years, Kate and Carole specifically. Kate realized that she should have spent the past seven years doing more work and building up her own public and charitable profile. Carole has only now realized that she’s not the only in-law around, and that she’s actually done a lot to irritate Prince Charles over the years by babying and stage-managing William and Kate. I also think William and Kate ran to Carole and they have been trying to come up with a plan to “fix” the Meghan Problem. And what we’re seeing is their plan in action.

When I logged in to Instagram yesterday it opened with a post by Pete Davidson. This was notable as my timeline typically starts with a handful of dogs. Pete wrote a note about people bothering him on the Internet. It’s unclear exactly what prompted him but I would imagine Ariana Grande’s fans have been commenting on his posts and he’s chosen to ignore it until it escalated after she put out video for “thank u, next.” Plus she just got yet another tattoo for Pete covered up, this one a commemoration for his father, his badge number 8418, replaced by the word “Myron,” the name of her late ex, Mac Miller’s dog. So people are still talking about the end of their relationship and the personal attacks are upsetting him.

I truly hope he’s ok. I’m skeptical of him, but he does deserve credit for being open about his mental health struggles and for helping end the stigma of mental illness. No one deserves to be dragged online or told that they’re not worth living. It does seem like this coincides with some major moves by Ariana, and by the fact that she’s not getting back with him. That’s probably very painful for him too. In the video for “thank u, next” she wrote “could still get it” under Big Sean’s picture and “sorry I dipped” next to Pete’s. It can’t be easy to have all that out in the open.
A source also told E! that Pete was “dating again.” He should probably make himself wait a while before getting a bunch of tattoos for his next girlfriend.

As we’ve well established, royal courtiers and a handful of royal family members don’t really care for the Duchess of Sussex. They’ve spent the past two weeks dragging Poor Meg for everything. She is responsible for all of the white tears in the UK, especially the tears of the Duchess of Steel Marshmallows, which must have been some sort of ingenious Middleton branding to remind everyone of Boomf. As the Mail on Sunday detailed in an exhaustive piece, the “war” between the Cambridges and Sussexes is real, and it’s not going away anytime soon.
The Mail also claimed that the war had gotten so bad that the Cambridges really were going to avoid Sandringham at Christmas this year, which I thought was interesting because… it was always going to be Will and Kate’s year to go to Bucklebury. It felt like the “war” was getting more play so that Will and Kate would have an excuse to just do what they wanted to do anyway, which is go to Middleton Manor for Christmas. But just hours after Team Cambridge put that information out there, Kensington Palace courtiers (Poor Jason) had to backtrack to multiple media outlets and say that actually, Will and Kate plan to spend Christmas at Sandringham after all. People Magazine confirmed that, as did the Daily Beast’s Tom Sykes, who made note of the fact that “off the record briefings” were happening in various palaces, with communications officers being sent out to tamp down the speculation about the war between the two camps.
So what can we tell from this? While I always maintained that this was off-year for the Cambridges to spend Christmas in Bucklebury, I’ve also said repeatedly that Will and Kate would likely look for an excuse to spend Christmas at Sandringham, and get a lot of face-time and camera-time with the Queen and Prince Charles, because they couldn’t allow Meghan to get all of that attention. Is it possible that William and Kate orchestrated this entire psychodrama so that they would have an “excuse” to spend Christmas at Sandringham, and get “credit” for being conciliatory towards that impossible Black Diva Meg? And if that’s not enough, The Sun dropped this little piece yesterday, which comes across as extremely threatening towards the Sussexes:
Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton’s “tit-for-tat war” could “bring the monarchy to its knees”, a royal insider has claimed. It comes as pregnant Meghan and Prince Harry, 34, revealed they would be leaving the home they currently share with the Cambridges at Kensington Palace.
The royal source told the Sun Online: “Meghan would be very unwise to get involved in a tit for tat war with Kate or anyone else. That is what Charles and Diana did through third parties and it brought the monarchy to its knees. A dignified silence is the best course. I’m sure there are tensions between Kate and Meghan but I also think they will work them out.”
[From The Sun]
Royal bitch please. The source is basically telling Meghan that if she tries to fight back in any way, Kate will make sure the whole world knows that Mean Angry Black Diva Meg made Poor White Kate cry repeatedly, and all Kate wanted to do was be a rule-following marshmallow!! As for Diana and Charles almost bringing down the monarchy…Diana understood her power, and she was an excellent tactician, but she lacked the longer-term vision to really understand the deeper impacts her war would have on future generations. Mostly, Diana learned how to stand up and fight for herself and her own short-term interests, and to see that being used as a cautionary tale to silence Meghan is…quite telling.

A post shared by Malin Akerman (@malinakerman) on Dec 3, 2018 at 7:18am PST
Actress Malin Akerman, 40, got married in an intimate beach wedding in Tulum, Mexico over the weekend to 32 year-old British actor Jack Donnelly. I thought she was American but she as born in Sweden and moved to Canada at age two. Malin’s first marriage was to musician Roberto Zincone, and they have a five year-old son together, Sebastian. Malin and Jack got engaged in the fall of 2017 after making their debut as a couple earlier that year. She’s said that Jack and her son are “inseparable” and that they get along very well. Malin did an interview with Brides Magazine with all the details about her wedding, including the gifts she gave guests and the pink gown she chose by Cushnie. Brides has a lot of beautiful candid photos of the wedding as well. The groom wore a short sleeve button up shirt with a vest.
For her wedding dress, Malin—with the help of her stylist Molly Fishkin Levin—looked to designer Cushnie. “I’ve worn many of their pieces to events and have always felt so chic and cool in their stuff,” she explains. As for the blush hue: “I decided on a color instead of white because it’s the second time round and I wanted it to be different,” she says. She also tucked a single purple bloom into her wavy updo for an additional pop…
The main event happened on the hotel’s beach overlooking the ocean. (Malin describes the scene as “intimate and magical.”) The aisle was lined with pampas grass in glass vessels, and the ceremony altar was made with dream catchers that the couple could take home as mementos.
Once at the altar, she and Jack exchanged personal vows and wedding bands by Deanna Devries. “Every element of the ceremony was so true to what’s important to us,” she says. “Having all of our friends and family there, speaking our own vows with the water washing over our feet, felt so amazing.”
[From Brides]
The wedding sounds very boho and relaxing. However just reading the list of people and companies she credits on Instagram makes me tired. You know so much work was involved in making it seems so low key. Malin and Jack look very much in love and I really enjoyed the pictures. Her gown was a great choice too. It’s fun to see brides in colorful more casual dresses. This reminds me of Keira Knightley’s awesome wedding dress. She wore a powder pink Chanel tulle strapless knee length gown for her 2013 wedding that she’d actually worn a few years before that. Then she repurposed that gown for a 2014 event and promptly spilled wine on it. At least she got a lot of use out of the dress. So will Malin re-wear her wedding gown? She should, it’s a very pretty slip dress. I would love to see her step out with her new husband in that gown.

Since I don’t follow soccer/football whatsoever – SORRY – I had to wiki “Ballon d’Or.” Ballon d’Or is a prestigious annual football award which has traditionally gone to the best male football player from the previous year of play. The award is handed out by the French Football association, and the award is voted on by sports journalists. It’s been happening since 1956, and this year was the first year that the organization decided to also recognize the best female football player of the year and give her a separate Ballon d’Or Award. This year’s winner is Ada Hegerberg, a Norwegian woman who has spent her entire career just killing it. While I’m not a football person, this video gave me goosebumps:
?? Olympique Lyonnais player Ada Hegerberg wins the first women’s Ballon d’Or of the history! #ballondor pic.twitter.com/VftyQ8VDec
— #ballondor (@francefootball) December 3, 2018
So, she’s an incredible player, a once-in-a-generation athlete, she’s this generation’s Mia Hamm, and literally millions of little girls and little boys just flat-out worship her. She’s such a groundbreaking talent that a prestigious French football organization changed their rules just to give her an award. When she got up to receive the Ballon d’Or, she gave a speech about working hard and achieving her dreams and wanting to inspire little girls. And then the host, a DJ d-bag named Martin Solveig, asked her to twerk. Ugh.
Imagine winning the first EVER women’s Ballon d’Or.
Then giving an unbelievable speech about how big this is for women’s football.
Then asking little girls to believe in themselves.
THEN being asked to twerk. Fuck off dude. pic.twitter.com/MkbL5KZalD
— Frances Silva (@fasilva11) December 3, 2018
The disrespect was real. The horror and disgust was palpable. Within a few hours, Solveig apologized and tried to act like it was all some big misunderstanding:
Sincere apologies to the one I may have offended. My point was : I don’t invite women to twerk but dance on a Sinatra song. Watch the full sequence People who have followed me for 20 years know how respectful I am especially with women pic.twitter.com/pnZX8qvl4R

I explained to @AdaStolsmo the buzz and she told me she understood it was a joke. Nevertheless my apologies to anyone who may have been offended. Most importantly congratulations to Ada pic.twitter.com/DATdg0TfQk

Hugh Jackman just saw his latest Oscar dreams go down in flames. Hugh and director Jason Reitman pinned all their hopes on The Front Runner, their biopic about the political fall of Senator Gary Hart. Although the film was not that great to begin with, Hugh shot himself in the foot by being publicly effusive about his friendship with First Daughter Ivanka Trump and her trophy husband, Jared Kushner. To distract people from his failing movie and questionable alliances, Hugh announced his next project, a one-man show featuring all the hits from his more successful roles like The Greatest Showman and Les Misérables.
Hugh Jackman is reviving the one-man show he originally performed on Broadway and taking it on the road!
The Man. The Music, The Show will span cities within the U.S., Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
The 50-year-old shared his excitement for the showcase while appearing on theToday show to promote his latest role in The Front Runner.
“This is a big dream come true for me… I’m singing, I’m dancing, I’m telling stories,” he said, noting he will be backed by a 26-piece orchestra and 30 singers and dancers. “I love going to a concert when I feel something happened that night that could only happen that night… I’m just gonna have a party.”
[From EW]
I’m afraid I’ll need to see the guest list before I RSVP to your latest party, Hugh. Actually, I’m going to pass regardless because truth be told, I am not a fan of Hugh’s singing. And I couldn’t stand The Greatest Showman. I know many loved that soundtrack, but I disliked the movie so much, I could never bring myself to enjoy the music.
I think Hugh does these one-man shows to make himself feel better. Since he retired from his Wolverine character, I imagine his career feels a bit rocky. Hugh’s track record in non-X-Men films is inconsistent at best. He’s a decent actor but his script selection sucks. But I think he gets off on a live audience’s energy. I saw his first one-man show. He was very charismatic and the audience loved him. The dancing was good. I think this will do well in his old stomping grounds of Australia and New Zealand but I’ll be curious to see how this is received in the US.
In case you are on the fence, Hugh gave a little taste of what you can expect. Are you tempted?

If Captain Marvel flops, do you think Marvel will ever allow a female lead in any of their movies ever again? I’m not saying Captain Marvel will flop, this is merely a thought exercise. I think Marvel is really only giving this “female lead” thing one shot to succeed or fail. And to their credit, I do think Marvel has put a lot of money behind Captain Marvel, and they’ll continue to put a lot of money behind her. During Monday Night Football, Marvel debuted the second trailer for Captain Marvel. At least now I’m starting to understand her backstory a little bit (the first trailer was confusing AF for non-comic readers):
It needs more Jude Law, right? Say what you will about Jude, but I’m VERY interested in seeing what he does when he’s getting Marvel paychecks. And what sort of anti-ageing cream is Samuel L.Jackson using?? He looks younger without facial hair, true, but the man is 69 YEARS OLD. It’s wrong that he looks the same now as he did when he was really making movies in the ‘90s. As for Brie Larson… I think she looks cool. What I enjoy about this is that it’s set in 1995 and Brie is SOOOO the kind of actress who would have been popular in the ‘90s. I’m just saying, it fits. Also: that cat is super-cute.

Kat Von D and Leafar Seyer are parents! The couple welcomed their first child a baby boy.
The proud new mama revealed the news via Instagram on Sunday, December 2.
Sharing a picture of her husband holding their newborn son Von D wrote alongside her post, “Thank you to all our beloved friends+family, fans+followers for your patience in us announcing his long-awaited arrival! To be honest, my husband @prayers and I want to take the next 40 days [the 4th trimester] to focus on the baby and our amazing relationship transitioning into amazing parenthood — so, please excuse us if we’re not on here as much for a little while. Just know we love you all and thank you for all the words of love+support!”
Back in September, the 36-year-old tattoo artist revealed that she was opting for an all natural home water birth. She thanked Ricki Lake for inspiring her after watching Lake’s 2008 documentary The Business of Being Born. Kat told Us at the time of her decision, “After that, we ditched the doctors and found a midwife. We did a lot of research. We’re excited.”

Von D and Seyer tied the knot in February. Three months later the tattoo artist announced she and Seyer were expecting. Von D gushed how her husband has been the doting husband during her pregnancy. “I’m really lucky I have a husband who is really involved in the entire process. Not by choice, you know, I don’t force it on him. He’s super excited to be a part of everything. I’m lucky.”

Von D never thought she was cut out for motherhood. In December 2017 Von D spoke to Dr. Drew Pinsky, “No children for me. The funny thing is that I’ve known since I was 7 years old that I was never going to have kids. “I always imagined myself as this worldly, traveling, gypsy lady. I love children, kids love me, but I think I’d make a really good buddy. I don’t know if I’d be a bad mom, but it’s not what I want. I don’t want to put my body through it.”
