Neil deGrasse Tyson is a “rock star” in the scientific world – he’s a charismatic educator, broadcaster and STEM advocate with multiple TV deals and speaking/lecturing gigs. But there seems to be a dark side to all of his rock-starring. In October 2014, a woman who was a graduate student with deGrasse Tyson at the University of Texas at Austin wrote on her blog that he had drugged and raped her years beforehand. In the past week, two additional women have come forward to tell their stories about deGrasse Tyson. Dr. Katelyn N. Allers told Patheos that deGrasse Tyson felt her up at a 2009 party, while he seemingly was trying to look at all of her tattoos. She says now that it likely didn’t rise to the level of assault, but she describes him as “creepy” and says that “my experience with him is he’s not someone who has great respect for female bodily autonomy.” A third woman, named Ashley Watson, says that she was forced to quit her job as his assistant after he repeatedly sexually harassed her.
Well, deGrasse Tyson has decided to respond to these accusations one by one – you can read his lengthy Facebook post on the topic here. Here’s the main crux:
For a variety of reasons, most justified, some unjustified, men accused of sexual impropriety in today’s “me-too” climate are presumed to be guilty by the court of public opinion. Emotions bypass due-process, people choose sides, and the social media wars begin.
In any claim, evidence matters. Evidence always matters. But what happens when it’s just one person’s word against another’s, and the stories don’t agree? That’s when people tend to pass judgment on who is more credible than whom. And that’s when an impartial investigation can best serve the truth – and would have my full cooperation to do so.
I’ve recently been publically accused of sexual misconduct. These accusations have received a fair amount of press in the past forty-eight hours, unaccompanied by my reactions. In many cases, it’s not the media’s fault. I declined comment on the grounds that serious accusations should not be adjudicated in the press. But clearly I cannot continue to stay silent.
… I’m the accused, so why believe anything I say? Why believe me at all?
That brings us back to the value of an independent investigation, which FOX/NatGeo (the networks on which Cosmos and StarTalk air) announced that they will conduct. I welcome this.
Accusations can damage a reputation and a marriage. Sometimes irreversibly. I see myself as loving husband and as a public servant – a scientist and educator who serves at the will of the public. I am grateful for the support I’ve received from those who continue to respect and value me and my work.
[From Neil deGrasse Tyson’s Facebook]
As I said, you can read the full Facebook post if you want to read his explanations for each incident. He clearly remembers each woman and he’s not pulling a “don’t know her” on any of his accusers. After reading his post, I felt like he was probably creepy with women, and probably crossed the line with colleagues, coworkers and subordinates quite often, but that he doesn’t realize how creepy he seems to some women. As he says, there should be full investigations and I hope these accusations aren’t swept under the rug.

Because Fox News exists in its own little echo chamber and tailors itself to Donald Trump’s thoughts and dreams and conspiracies, they tend to do weird sh-t like “a live morning show interview with a drunk Kid Rock.” Fox & Friends’ Steve Doocy somehow got the all-important live interview with a drunk Kid Rock on Friday morning. At some point, Kid Rock was trying to talk about how everyone is entitled to their political opinions, then he called Joy Behar (co-host of The View) a “bitch.”
WOW — Kid Rock says “screw that Joy Behar bitch,” prompting @SteveDoocy to repeatedly apologize on his behalf. (The crowd cheered Kid Rock’s remark.) pic.twitter.com/R4J4CDW1Du
— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) November 30, 2018
Even Steve Doocy was like “whoa there” and he apologized for Kid Rock’s words live. So, this could have been just a stupid story about Kid Rock being thin-skinned when a woman criticized him (and Behar criticized him more than a year ago, mind you). But then something beautiful happened: the city of Nashville fired Kid Rock. Kid Rock was supposed to be the Grand Marshall of their Christmas parade. And they fired him and hired James Shaw Jr, the “Waffle House Hero” who disarmed a gunman at a Tennessee Waffle House in April. He should have been the Grand Marshall from the beginning! But now Kid Rock is super-mad about it, and he issued a statement:
Behar has been an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump and when Myself, Sarah Palin and Ted Nugent visited The White House last year, Behar called it “the saddest day in in the history of the White House since the British burned it to the ground in 1814.”
Today I said “Screw that Joy Behar bitch”
Mess with the bull, you get the horns. End of story.
I apologized for cursing on live tv, I will not for my sentiment nor do I expect an apology from her or anyone else who has choice words for me or doesn’t like me.
God Bless America.
[Rock’s statement via Vulture]
“Mess with the bull, you get the horns” because Joy Behar thought it was trashy for Kid Rock, Ted Nugent and Sarah Palin to pose with Donald Trump in the Oval Office. Kid Rock stays toxic, misogynistic, thin-skinned and petty, just like his idol, Donald Trump. I’m glad Nashville was like “nope” and they fired him. It’s a nice Christmas story, and I hope James Shaw Jr. enjoys marshalling the Christmas Parade!

It’s a party of four! Jana Kramer and Michael Caussin welcomed a healthy baby boy named Jace on Thursday, November 29. Jace joins big sister Jolie who will be 3 in January.
Kramer made an exclusive statement to Us Weekly about her new addition gushing, “Our hearts are so full. And we are so thankful for our sweet rainbow baby boy. We have been through quite the journey and we can’t wait to continue it as a family of 4!”

After a hard road of trying to conceive that included three miscarriages and two chemical pregnancies, the 34-year-old singer announced in June that she was expecting. Kramer spoke about her baby news on her podcast “Whine Down with Jana Kramer” but admitted she still had some fear about her pregnancy not working out.
“We’re so excited, but at the same point, it’s all just in God’s hands. It’s just such a scary process because it’s a true miracle … I mean It seems so easy, when you look at some people, but other times it’s like, it’s a miracle. It’s been a tough journey. We have lost our last two pregnancies, so it’s been really rough.”
Just a month later Kramer revealed she was pregnant with a baby boy but admitted she had hoped to give her daughter Jolie a baby sister. “I really did want another girl. I never had a sister and I’ve always been envious of people that have had sister relationships and so I kind of wanted that for her. But now I’m like, ‘Tough luck girly, we’re having a boy’ and I’m excited.”

Kramer and her former NFL hubby have not only dealt with their fertility struggles but have had their fair share of marriage issues. After the two tied the knot in 2015 news broke that Caussin had cheated on Kramer. The two separated in 2016 and after working on their relationship both separately and together they reconciled and renewed their vows in December 2017.

This is two weekends in a row, where the British tabloids go absolutely insane with their anti-Meghan coverage. Of course, the more interesting story – beyond whatever unhinged psychodrama is coming out of the Daily Mail or The Sun – is who is behind all of these leaks and negative stories. I’ve said before that I don’t think it’s just one person – say, Prince Charles or Prince William – but it’s a combination of leaks from different people with different agendas, but the result is the same: a coordinated smear campaign against the Duchess of Sussex, conducted by many people within the royal family, or working for the royal family. So, here are the latest smears:
Meghan wanted St. George’s Chapel to smell better. This is supposed to be evidence of her “diva, bridezilla” qualities, that she though the chapel smelled a bit musty, so she requested some air fresheners to be deployed ahead of the wedding. The Daily Mail says Buckingham Palace got all pissy about it and “Meghan wanted staff to go around with these atomisers, like spritzer guns, and spray the chapel with scent before anyone arrived. Royal Household staff stepped in and told her office politely, but firmly, that this was the Queen’s Chapel and it simply wasn’t appropriate. I don’t believe they said no because they thought it could affect the chapel in any way. It was simply the principle of the thing. This is a place that has held royal weddings, funerals and even contains the Royal Vault. I don’t believe a request of that nature had been made before.” Except ahead of William and Kate’s wedding at Westminster Abbey, Kate had Jo Malone candles burned so that there would be a citrus smell. But sure, Meghan is a crazy bridezilla diva. Also: reportedly, Meghan and Harry did the same thing as Kate, they reportedly burned Diptyque scented candles at the wedding.
Meghan made another white woman cry. The woman in question is Melissa Toubati, the same personal assistant to Meghan who made a big deal about “quitting” just six months after the wedding. Apparently, Melissa quit because “Her job was highly pressurised and in the end it became too much. She put up with quite a lot. Meghan put a lot of demands on her and it ended up with her in tears.” For the love of God. The British tabloids aren’t going to quit until Meghan is blamed for all of the white tears in Britain.
Kate “slapped down” Meghan just before the wedding. According to The Sun, the lead-up to Meghan and Harry’s wedding was like 10 episodes of Dynasty rolled into one week. Not only did mean, angry, BLACK diva Meghan make poor white Kate cry, Meghan also “berated” a member of Kate’s staff ahead of the wedding. The Sun claims that they spoke to an “impeccable royal source”who said that Meghan and Kate “fell out” because Meghan “b******ed Kate’s staff” and Kate told Meg: “That’s unacceptable, they’re my staff and I speak to them.” While I believe this is utter bulls–t, I also think it’s telling that this is the fictitious story they’re going with because… the whole point of Harry and William sharing an office was that all of their staff worked for all of them. No wonder Meghan and Harry want a separate office – Meghan can’t ask for anything from the Kensington Palace staff without them leaking that she’s an “opinionated diva” who needed to be “slapped down” by a white woman.
Interestingly enough, the palace officially denied the story about Kate “slapping down” Meghan. A palace spokesperson said “this never happened.” They who was “impeccable royal source”? Many of you have tweeted @ me about the timing of all of this – after Meghan announced her pregnancy, after the wildly successful South Pacific Tour, in which “Meg-Mania” was in full effect. And after Meghan’s first big project launch, the cookbook for the Hubb Community Kitchen. I mean, it doesn’t take a genius to see that there are a handful of people in the royal family who really, really do not appreciate what Meghan has done already.

In the past week, “sources” within Brad Pitt’s camp or Angelina Jolie’s camp made it sound like their custodial fight was still weeks away (if not months away) from being settled. But as it turns out, they really were close to a deal, and maybe they even had a deal when those “sources” were saying they didn’t. On Friday night, Entertainment Tonight broke the news: Brad and Angelina have come to some kind of custodial agreement:
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are finally on the same page. After requesting for more time to work out their divorce and custody terms, the former couple has reached a custody agreement.
“A custody arrangement was agreed to weeks ago, and has been signed by both parties and the judge,” Jolie’s attorney, Samantha Bley DeJean, tells ET in a statement. “The agreement, which is based on the recommendations of the child custody evaluator, eliminates the need for a trial. The filing and details of the agreement are confidential to protect the best interests of the children.” A source close to the matter tells ET that Jolie is “pleased to be entering the next stage and relieved at the progress for the health of their family.”
[From ET]
It’s interesting that it’s not a joint statement, right? It’s interesting that after Team Pitt spent the better part of two years smearing Angelina, it’s Angelina’s lawyer who got to announce that a deal was made. Shortly after ET broke the news, Too Fab got an exclusive from “a source close to the situation” who said that actually, “nothing is final and permanent but at least [it’s] going in right direction.” Which makes me wonder. Then, a “Pitt insider” went to Us Weekly with this:
“Brad and Angelina will have joint physical and legal custody of the children. Over a period of the next six to eight weeks, the monitored visits will come to a conclusion. The children will immediately begin to have overnight visits with their father. The monitors will be in place for those first overnight visits, and this was done at Brad’s request. Brad recognizes this is going to be a change from what the norm had been and wants to make the transition as smooth as possible.”
[From Us Weekly]
Yet another reminder that Brad’s contact with the kids has been monitored this WHOLE TIME. I get that he agreed to it, but it’s still worth noting it, over and over again: two years after the plane incident, he was still being monitored. Now, do you believe that he and Angelina agreed to “joint physical and legal custody”? I think it’s possible, but until we know the terms, I’m not really going to put much stock into what Us Weekly’s source has to say.

Good lord, I was exhausted by Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ wedding months before it even happened. Exhaustion gave way to…apathy, tinged with confusion. Why are they so extra? Why an exclusive Vogue (digital) cover? Why all the Instagrams? Why does every part of their courtship, engagement and wedding have the feel of some kind of sponsored stunt? Anyway, enjoy:
Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra are husband and wife! The couple tied the knot during a Western wedding in Chopra’s home country of India on Saturday, PEOPLE confirms exclusively. The nuptials, held at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, come just four months after the pair was engaged in July 2018.
Chopra, 36, was a glowing bride in a custom Ralph Lauren wedding gown, and Jonas, too, wore Ralph Lauren. In fact, so did both families, all of the bridesmaids, and all of the groomsmen (which included Chopra’s brother Siddharth and Jonas’ three brothers, Joe, Kevin, and Frankie). Of course, Lauren is an important designer to the couple not only because he is a close friend of the actress but also because she and Jonas, 26, both rocked Ralph Lauren Collection at the 2017 Met Gala, which took place one week after their unofficial first date.
The groom’s father, Paul Kevin Jonas Sr., officiated Saturday’s Christian ceremony, where the couple exchanged wedding bands by famed jeweler Chopard. On Sunday, the bride and groom will continue their epic wedding weekend with a Hindu ceremony to honor Chopra’s background.
[From People]
Mazel tov. I hope they’re happy, and I’m not saying that sarcastically. I worried that Priyanka was just marrying some dude because she wanted attention, or she wanted to kick her career to the next level. But nothing would make me happier than if this was a true love match, and they ended up proving all of their haters wrong. What do you think, will she be pregnant by next year’s Met Gala?

One of the most special things that our relationship has given us is a merging of families who love and respect each other’s faiths and cultures. And so planning our wedding with an amalgamation of both was so so amazing. An important part of the pre wedding rituals for the girl in an Indian wedding is the Mehendi. Once again we made it our own and it was an afternoon that kicked off the celebrations in the way we both dreamed. @nickjonas

George HW Bush passed away on Friday, not even eight months after his wife Barbara passed. This was a big reason why HW’s granddaughter Barbara married so suddenly a few months ago – she wanted her beloved grandfather to be able to attend her wedding. HW Bush was 94 years old. He was a WWII veteran, a Navy pilot in the Pacific theater of the world war. In addition to serving as the 41st president of the United States, he also served his country as congressman, a UN ambassador, a special envoy to China, the director of the CIA, and vice president for two terms under Ronald Reagan.
I’m not going to whitewash George HW Bush’s life and legacy, but he did many good things, things that seem so foreign the current era of Trumpian Republicanism. He was an unabashed internationalist, and arguably one of the finest diplomats to ever sit in the Oval Office. He believed in the United Nations and NATO, and he believed that America was stronger when we had strong alliances with other nations. He was a Republican who raised taxes, and arguably laid the groundwork for the economic growth of the 1990s. He also oversaw a presidential campaign full of racist dog-whistles, and lord knows, he loved to grope unconsenting women, and he also ignored the AIDS crisis when thousands of men and women were dying. And he put Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court. Ugh.
After HW left office, he ended up developing a close friendship with Bill Clinton. Some even suggested that Clinton saw in “Pappy” Bush the surrogate father he was always looking for. So in addition to HW Bush’s five surviving children, also spare a thought for his good friend Bill too. The Bushes were also quite close to the Obamas too, and you can really tell by the warmth of everyone’s statements about him. I’m not even going to mention the Orange One, if that’s okay.
Hillary and I mourn the passing of President George H. W. Bush, and give thanks for his great long life of service, love and friendship. I am grateful for every minute I spent with him and will always hold our friendship as one of my life’s greatest gifts. https://t.co/1CYdrIeKmz

George H.W. Bush was a beloved father & grandfather, a war hero, a public servant, & a class act. In my experiences w/ him, I always valued his desire to listen, look at evidence & ask for ideas, even from people w/ different beliefs. My heart goes out to the entire Bush family.

When it comes to his clients, Dr. Shanin Ghadir has seen several celebrities, but he has clients of all types. People from around the world come to see him due to recommendations they have received.
Dr. Ghadir explained how there used to be a bit of a stigma around using a fertility doctor. It isn’t like that at all now, though. He explained that there have been a lot of advancements in the field of fertility over the years. One big thing is that they can now do genetic testing on an embryo. There have also been advances where they can find out when the best time is to place the embryo in the uterus. As Dr. Shanin Ghadir explained, this can really increase the chances of a pregnancy happening after fertility treatments.
If you want to get fertility treatments but can’t afford them, Dr. Shanin Ghadir can help you out with it. His office has financial counselors available to help clients figure out how to make it work for them. He is even working on a charity called “Fertility for All.” It is a very new charity, so they have lists of other charities that help people get grants or loans for fertility treatments.
They also offer a lot of information on their website to help people with financial options and to get more information on fertility treatments. Dr. Shanin Ghadir has made it clear that he wants to help his patients to become parents.
