If there’s one thing that’s going to get me canceled (besides being opposed to Crocs as a concept) it’s my opinion about otters. And it isn’t even an opinion, really, it’s just an acknowledgement of an uncomfortable truth. Yes, otters are very cute and they are important in ecosystems. But I also believe that sea otters and river otters alike are very mean, even nasty. And that’s fine! They owe us nothing! We have directly and indirectly messed up their habitats all over the world and if they choose to enact justice upon us, they kind of have the moral high ground. It really has been a Hot Revenge Summer for California otters. A female sea otter, Otter 841, has been terrorizing surfers in Santa Cruz, stealing their surfboards, evading capture, and becoming a folk hero in the process. River otters are also getting in on the action. Recently the actress Crystal Finn, who was on an episode of Succession, discovered this firsthand. She was swimming in a river in Plumas National Forest which is north of Lake Tahoe. Suddenly she felt something bite her and an entire group of river otters swarmed her in the water. They bit her all over. This is my worst nightmare.

Crystal Finn had an unfortunate encounter with otters.

The actress, who played Lauren Pawson in the Season 4 “America Decides” episode of Succession, was attacked by otters in Northern California, she told the San Francisco Chronicle.

She said she was swimming in the Feather River near Plumas National Forest in July. “I felt something on my back side and on my leg,” she explained.

“I started looking around and yelling out and [the otters] popped up right in front of me. Then they dove down and started going at me again.”

“I could see the bites on my legs and knew I had been bitten on my butt — that one was the worst, but I couldn’t see it. The bites really hurt,” she continued.

She thought that the attack might have been a mother protecting her children.

Crystal was treated for her injuries at Tahoe Forest Hospital in Truckee, California, where she was told of other otter recent attacks in the area.

She added that she was glad she hadn’t brought her young daughter along for the swim.

“It would have been a lot worse,” she said.

The attack news comes as otters also attacked three women in southern Montana who were inner tubing down a tributary of the Missouri River in August, with one victim needing to be airlifted to a hospital.

[From Just Jared]

I rest my case, people! River otters are no joke. I camped north of where she was once, in Lassen National Park, and there were signs everywhere that said “do not swim or kayak, the river otter is at large.” I am more afraid of them than mountain lions. Mountain lions and bears are pretty elusive, even though they’re dangerous. But river otters just have this energy like they could come after you at any second, like a honey badger or a Real Housewife. Crystal is lucky that she’s okay. It sounds completely harrowing. To be fair, otter attacks are relatively rare, but they do happen and they can really cause some damage. Revenge, thy name is Otter.

When Britney Spears first started up with Sam Asghari, I kind of assumed he was a loser, just because…um that’s her type. I changed my mind about Sam when we learned just how much he tried to help her free herself of the conservatorship. Sam was with her, contacting lawyers and helping her work behind her father’s back. When the conservatorship finally ended, Britney was free to marry Sam and they set the date quickly. Their wedding was at Britney’s home in June of last year. People genuinely wished them well and hoped for the best. Then Britney began behaving “erratically” and there have been reports for months that Sam is getting the brunt of Britney’s meltdowns and he’s had enough. In May, he disputed those stories, stories claiming he already had one foot out the door. Now it turns out there was a lot of truth to those stories. Britney and Sam’s marriage is over.

Britney Spears and her husband, Sam Asghari have separated after a nuclear argument that involves allegations of cheating … TMZ has learned. Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ … about a week ago, Sam confronted Britney over rumors she stepped out on him. We do not know if the rumor has any basis in fact, but we’re told Sam believed it and the 2 had a huge fight.

Our sources say Sam has moved out of their house and is now living in a place of his own. As one source put it, “It’s only a matter of time before Sam files for divorce.”

TMZ broke the story, there’s been “deep trouble” with the couple’s union for months … Sam wasn’t sleeping at the house much, and we’re told Britney has gotten physical with him in blowout fights that include frequent screaming matches.

As we reported, Britney has a prenup which protects her assets, but one insider tells TMZ, the likely end to the marriage will be a check from Britney to Sam that will settle things, at least financially.

If you’ve been following Britney’s journey post-conservatorship, the writing’s been on the wall. At times, Britney’s behavior has been erratic, and we’re told Sam was over it. Sam has publicly defended Britney from critics, but privately we’re told he was frustrated … at wits’ end.

[From TMZ]

Yeah, I actually suspected that TMZ’s reporting has been much closer to the truth of Britney’s situation for months now, even though Sam usually denied it. In any case, People Magazine has backed up TMZ’s exclusive – their “multiple sources” say that Sam and Britney have separated after 14 months. People Mag also backs up the reporting that Britney’s inner circle had planned an intervention for her back in February but they canceled it.

I’ll say the same thing I’ve said in previous posts: I’m rooting for Britney and I hope she’s okay, I hope she’s figuring out a way to take care of herself and I hope she has good and loyal people around her. There were always going to be growing pains for her once she came out of the conservatorship, experiencing a new kind of responsibility and freedom which she didn’t have for 15 years. She doesn’t have people dictating her treatment or her medication or anything else anymore. It was always going to be one step forward, two steps back. Give her some space, that’s my take.

Edited to add… welp, that was fast. Sam has already filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences, and he’s asking for spousal support. Britney has already hired Laura Wasser as her divorce lawyer. We will have another story on all of the drama!

Back in the day, in the pre-Sussex era, there were always some tea-spilling articles about Prince William and Kate every summer. This was back when Will and Kate were generally seen as a lazy, work-shy, dull and boring – they would both disappear for months at a time, and every summer, there were “taking stock of the disappointing Cambridges” articles and commentary pieces. That all changed in 2017 and the British media has apparently never looked back. They have their marching orders and, more importantly, Will and Kate play the game. Which is why we get sh-t like “Kate is the most perfect queen-in-waiting ever” and “Kate has literally never put a foot wrong, never made one single mistake in her life, she’s truly the most perfect person in the world.” I don’t doubt that’s the messaging from Team Buttons and Middleton HQ, but I also think the British media plays along with it because they have some idea about how Kate is basically stuck in her separation cottage and gritting it out just so she can be consort to a man who treats her like sh-t. Speaking of…

Princess Kate Middleton has been preparing for her future role as queen consort, and so far, she’s been successful. True Royalty TV co-founder Nick Bullen told Fox News Digital that the Princess of Wales has been described as the “power behind the throne” by those who work closely with her. The streaming platform has a new documentary, “Catherine: Our Queen in Waiting,” which explores how Prince William’s wife has charmed palace aides, the public and the press over the years.

“The interesting thing about Kate, the Princess of Wales, is her steeliness,” Bullen said. “She is a very strong character who has transitioned from being a young bride to being a key player within the royal family. … If you look at all the photographs now, she’s always front and center. She looked amazing at the coronation, she looked incredible at Ascot. She’s now every inch the princess. And I think at the coronation, everyone agreed that she looked very much the next queen.”

“This hasn’t happened by accident,” he said. “She is a clever, smart, determined woman. And I’m told by people who work at the various palaces that she is quite literally the power behind the throne.”

Bullen is an award-winning documentarian who has been producing programs about the British royal family for 20 years. He has also worked closely with the king for about a decade. Bullen said that many senior royals have taken inspiration from the glamorous mother of three, who has modeled herself after Queen Elizabeth II. Britain’s longest-reigning monarch died in September at age 96. And as future queen consort, the princess is said to be hands-on in making key choices about the family to protect and preserve their image. And William gives her free rein.

“I think a lot of the members of the family look to her, including William, obviously,” he said. “I believe she is involved in making quite a lot of the decisions on how things move forward and how the family is portrayed. … She just continues to get better and better.”

[From Fox News]

“She is a clever, smart, determined woman” – I mean, she’s not any of those things, but she has a lot of patience and zero self-respect. Luckily for Kate and her mother, they didn’t need a “clever” scheme for William – he got rooked by the dumbest, most obvious honey trap ever by a family of grifters who lied for years about their business. She’s not the power behind the throne either – the last time Charles had anything to do with her, he unleashed his palace dogs on her for stealing his thunder at the Chelsea Flower Show. William is also in the midst of a year-long “single father” PR campaign. All that being said, I agree that Kate has more power than she realizes, but I think she’s too lazy to do anything about it.

The thing to remember about post-coronation royal life is that the Windsors don’t have anything “big” on the horizon. No big funerals, no big weddings, no statue-unveilings, no big memorials, no big events. While British taxpayers can breathe a sigh of relief that they don’t have to fund the Windsors’ latest circus, the Windsors and their media handlers are lowkey panicking. This is because they have nothing to hold over the heads of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. They can’t demand that Harry and Meghan “show up” to the 130rd anniversary of The Grand Bumf–kery. They can’t demand that the Sussexes simply must attend the funeral of Lady Hootentooter, the king’s third cousin twice removed. Enter royal commentator Angela Levin – despite Levin’s history of delusional spite and plainly incorrect reporting, Levin is still Queen Camilla’s official biographer and de facto mouthpiece within the tabloid media. So Levin had quite the scoop on the next big thing for the royals, for which they’ll demand Prince Harry’s attendance: King Charles’s 75th birthday in November.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will want to attend King Charles’ upcoming birthday celebrations but there is a reason why he could tell them to “get lost,” an expert has said. Royal biographer Angela Levin believes the monarch will want the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to attend any festivities planned to mark Charles’ 75th birthday on November 14.

Relations between the Royal Family and Harry and Meghan have been tense following their explosive Oprah Winfrey interview, Harry’s memoir Spare and the Netflix docu-series which aired grievances within the families. Despite the tension, Angela said Charles will want his family around him – including the children Archie and Lilibet – meaning the Sussexes could be inclined to go.

She told The Sun Online: “Charles would want Harry and Meghan’s children there. If Harry and Meghan want to make an excuse, that’s their decision.”

However, she warned: “If Harry wants to go to get an apology, then he can get lost.”

It was revealed in June last year that Harry was said to be “furious” over his treatment during Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations and wanted an apology from the Royals.

Angela said the ball was ultimately in Harry’s court over what to do, adding: “Harry will have to decide. The door is open.”

While it is likely that both Harry and Meghan will get an invite, along with their children, Angela speculated that what actually might happen was that Harry would go and possibly take Archie with him. She said: “He could go on his own and bring Archie with him. He’s a big boy now, five, and he could see his cousins.”

Her comments come after some plans on how Charles was going to celebrate the big day were revealed and its thought it will be a low-key affair. The monarch is said to have vetoed any major pubic celebration and wants any events to be “minimal” and “family orientated”.

[From The Sun]

So, again, this is coming from Camilla’s biographer. This is seemingly coming from official sources, that Charles wants/expects a visit from the Sussexes for his November birthday, but that Charles is not going to apologize. The vaunted royal invitation-threat – you should come to my event but also, go f–k yourself, I’ll never apologize for abusing you, please bring your children too. This is the psychotic way these people operate, so I believe this probably is the message the Sussexes have gotten from the palace. It also shows you that the British media is desperate to find some way to force the Sussexes to visit, and that they really, really want to see those children.

I was rooting for Christine Baumgartner but that poor woman is getting torn up by Kevin Costner, Laura Wasser and the entire family court system of California. Christine might have gotten the upper hand by filing for divorce and surprising Costner, but it’s been bad news ever since. Costner’s lawyers are taking Christine to the woodshed and it does not look like this woman has any sort of plan or strategy to nullify the prenup she signed 19 years and three children ago. Basically, Christine is getting hosed and Costner is calling all of the shots:

Attorneys for Kevin Costner accused the actor’s estranged wife Christine and her legal team of “gamesmanship of the worst sort” in new court documents relating to their divorce. In a request for order filed in California Superior Court Aug. 10 and obtained by PEOPLE, attorneys for the 68-year-old Yellowstone star have asked the court to compel Christine — who filed for divorce May 1 after 18 years of marriage — to explicitly answer a number of questions they have put to her about the Costners’ premarital agreement.

The lawyers claim Christine, 49, has avoided answering questions — including whether or not she understood the agreement before she signed it — throughout the discovery process as both legal teams prepare for the November trial to determine the validity of the prenup. Under the prenup’s terms, Christine received a $1.5 million payout, which she risks forfeiting by challenging the agreement.

“Four months into this matter, and three months away from the commencement of the trial on the validity of the PMA, Christine refuses to make known all of her contentions regarding the validity of the PMA,” an attorney for Kevin claimed in the new documents.

“The objections she has mustered in an effort to not disclose her contentions are frivolous. She says she does not understand words like ‘understood’ or ‘negotiation,’ so she cannot answer this discovery,” the document further stated. “She says she does not know what commonly legal phrases like ‘legal effect’ and ‘supersedes’ mean, so she cannot answer this discovery. She refuses to admit (or even deny) that the specific factual representations she and her attorney made in the PMA itself are accurate, to wit, that she understood the PMA, that it was explained to her and that she acknowledged she understood the meaning and legal effect of the PMA,” the lawyer continued.

In a separate statement filed in court the same day, Kevin’s lawyers called Christine’s tactics “gamesmanship of the worst sort.”

“‘Understood’ is not a technical or arcane word. It is not ground for objection that a request is ambiguous, unless it is so ambiguous that the responding party cannot in good faith frame an intelligent reply,” wrote the lawyer. Kevin is also seeking around $14,000 in legal fees he accrued as a result of his legal team trying to elicit answers from Christine. “Discovery is not a game of chicken. Kevin should never have been required to spend money to file a motion,” the request for order stated.

[From People]

Lawyers, help me out here – Costner and Baumgartner are headed to a bifurcated divorce trial where Christine is challenging the prenup (the PMA), and Costner’s lawyers are throwing a huge hissy fit because Christine won’t answer questions in discovery? Is that right? She’s being purposefully obtuse about what she “understood” about the PMA. Apparently, the trial is set for November 27 and the discovery cutoff is October 27. Meaning, she has another two months before she has to really answer these questions from Costner’s lawyers. So, when you see the schedule… Costner really comes across as bullying and hectoring, like “why don’t you have all of this done NOW” and the deadline isn’t for another two months. I hope Christine and her lawyers have a larger strategy at play here because Costner is using the court to publicly bully and berate her.

Here are some photos of Angelina Jolie out and about last night in New York. Apparently, she flew into NYC with Vivienne and Pax on Monday or Tuesday, and the Mail also has photos of Jolie out with Vivienne during the day on Tuesday. Angelina has been spending so much time in New York lately, and from what I can tell, she’s always staying in hotels. She hasn’t quietly bought a place in the city, but that might be coming, sooner than we think. Her fashion collection, Atelier Jolie, is now based in New York. And Angelina is set to produce a Broadway-bound stage adaptation of The Outsiders. It turns out, we were right – Vivienne is the one who told her mom about the play. Vivi is a little theater geek:

Angelina Jolie is turning her upcoming Broadway venture into a mother-daughter collaboration. Last week, Jolie announced she will serve as lead producer bringing the musical The Outsiders, an adaptation of S.E. Hinton’s novel and Francis Ford Coppola’s 1983 film, to Broadway.

On Monday, PEOPLE confirmed that Jolie’s daughter Vivienne, 15, inspired her to take on the project — and will help mom, closely involved in the production as Jolie’s volunteer assistant.

“Viv reminds me of my mother in that she isn’t focused on being the center of attention but in being a support to other creatives,” Jolie said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE. “She’s very thoughtful and serious about theatre and working hard to best understand how to contribute.”

The pair saw the world premiere of The Outsiders at La Jolla Playhouse in California earlier this year and later met with author Hinton, who wrote the book as a teen around Vivienne’s age.

A source close to Jolie says, “Angelina is excited about this new venture. She believes this is a musical for all ages but particularly resonates with young people. She wants to ensure the team is listening and working with young people every step of the way and that their voices are leading in bringing this production to life on Broadway.”

[From People]

Something I’ve always appreciated about Angelina is that she has absolutely zero stage-mom sensibilities. Yes, she’s put her kids in her movies and she’s given them jobs behind-the-scenes, but it’s clear that none of those kids are interested in acting and she’s fine with that. She’s not nepotizing them into a celebrity life. Vivienne doesn’t sound interested in the process of being a stage-actress, but she loves the theater and she’s probably fascinated by what goes into live theater. Well, now Vivienne gets to work as Angelina’s “assistant” as Jolie produces a Broadway play.

Late last year, I learned Sophie Winkleman’s name and her (lowly) status within the Windsor clan. Sophie is married to Lord Frederick Windsor, the son of Prince Michael of Kent and Princess Michael of Kent. He has next to no status within the royal family, and he works a real job at JP Morgan in London. Meanwhile, Sophie is a working actress. She’s appeared in TV shows in the UK and America, and for several years, Sophie and Frederick did live in LA while she worked. Now they live in London and they gleefully accept whatever crumbs they’re given from the family. Around Christmas, Sophie got her brief and she dutifully wrote a column in the Spectator, and claimed with a straight face: “the senior members of the royal family who are so hardworking, uncomplaining and brave in the face of relentless and brutal media attention, criticism, lies, undermining and fictional TV programmes.” LMAO, she really thought she was doing something. Well, in case you’re in the mood for more shady bullsh-t from this woman, here you go:

Prince Harry claimed in his tawdry memoir, Spare, that his father advised him that Meghan Markle could stick to her acting career rather than serve as a working royal after their wedding. Harry and Meghan rejected King Charles’s suggestion, but another member of the Royal Family has shown that it’s possible to pursue a successful acting career.

Sophie Winkleman, best known as Big Suze in Channel 4 comedy Peep Show, is married to Lord Frederick Windsor, son of Prince Michael of Kent, and continues to win starring roles. However, she’s now revealed that she turned down lucrative television parts in the U.S. to stay close to her daughters, Maud, who turns ten today, and Isabella, seven. The couple had lived and worked in California, where Winkleman landed herself a recurring role in the hit sitcom starring Charlie Sheen, Two And A Half Men, for five years until 2015.

‘After Two And A Half Men, I got some wonderful offers of work in America which I didn’t do because I couldn’t imagine just vanishing to another country for months,’ says Sophie, 43, the half-sister of Strictly Come Dancing co-host Claudia Winkleman. ‘You have to make compromises in your career when you have a family. So I do jobs in Britain where I see them every week.’

The actress, who attended Queen Elizabeth’s funeral as well as royal events including Prince William and Catherine’s wedding, jokes that her household is run more efficiently when she is on a shoot. ‘It does work well when I’m away, though,’ she says. ‘They [her children] have some order because whoever is looking after them is never as chaotic as I am.’

[From The Daily Mail]

“…Another member of the Royal Family has shown that it’s possible to pursue a successful acting career.” Meghan literally had a very successful career as an actress. She was pulling down a seven-figure annual salary between Suits, Lifetime movies and The Tig. She gave up her career because she believed she was stepping into a full-time role as a working royal. Sophie Winkleman works because she has to, because no one is asking her or her zombie-looking husband to work for the Firm. Kind of a dodgy way to insult Meghan – look, we totally accept actresses into the royal family, but only if they’re white and married to the 53rd in line to the throne!

Over the holidays last December my friend had a yen for watching the 1999 tv version of Annie. We’re not even ten minutes into the movie and who pops up as orphan Molly but a baby, doe-eyed Sarah Hyland! She really has been working forever. Both her parents are New York actors, so that must have helped her get started. Her resume is doubly impressive considering the extensive health issues she’s had her whole life. Born with kidney dysplasia, a condition where the kidneys don’t form properly in utero, she’s had more than 16 surgeries, two of which were kidney transplants. In 2012 her father donated a kidney, only for her body to reject it and in 2017 she had another transplant, this time donated by her brother (which *knock wood* has taken). While appearing on the Dinner’s on Me podcast, hosted by her Modern Family costar (and wedding officiant) Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Sarah spoke more candidly about the pain she was in when they were shooting the series:

I don’t know how she did this: “There are some episodes of Modern Family where I do not remember filming because I was asleep. Dead-ass asleep,” she said. “I was not able to be awake for eight hours at a time. I was so exhausted all the time,” she explained, noting that she was only able to stay awake from the very moments scenes began and finished shooting. “I’d be on the set, we’d be filming, I’d be dead asleep, my head on the table, I would hear, ‘and…’ and my head would go up.”

F—ing high heels: She and Jesse went on to recall a specific day that they were shooting a scene that involved her pushing a car. Jesse begins, “I remember a day when we were shooting—I don’t remember the specifics of the scene, and you might not remember it because I think you were in an intense amount of pain that day—but we were pushing a car?” In response, Sarah revealed that she actually had gout in her foot at the time, which meant that she had to use crutches on set. “I was on dialysis, I had gout. It was wild,” she said, before later explaining that she got gout after being put on medication for retaining too much water. Then, Sarah revealed that despite being in the “most excruciating pain,” the Modern Family producers “insisted” that she film the scene in high heels. “They put me in high heels,” she said. “They had not established my outfit yet, and they insisted that I was wearing heels.”

Jesse took care of her: “I remember there was a day on set… I think I was in rejection on dialysis, and I was just in an extreme amount of pain,” she said. Explaining that “there wasn’t enough time” to go back to her trailer in between takes, Sarah said, “But I also could barely move. So I found a little corner, I sat in a chair… and I was just kind of curled up into a ball.” Sarah told Jesse, “You came up to me and very lightly touched me on the shoulder… You were just like, ‘Can I get you anything? Is there anything you need? I’m here for you.’”

Her coping was to ignore the pain: Noting that she has a “workhorse mentality,” which she said she gets from her parents, Sarah went on, “You don’t know when the next job is going to be, and if you don’t work hard and if you complain, you get the boot. So for me, I ignored how I felt.” And Sarah added that while this mentality was “most definitely not healthy,” it was “the only way” she knew how to deal with the pain.

[From BuzzFeed]

By my internet sleuthing, the episode where Sarah and Jesse had to move a car is from Season 8 which aired between 2016-2017. By that point Modern Family had won 22 Emmy Awards. My point? The f—ing high heels weren’t necessary, what a dickhead thing for the producers to do. Truly, I don’t know how she did any of what she did based on what she describes here. She was passed out from pain but able to snap into character the minute the cameras rolled? And be funny?! Nailing comedic timing is no joke. (Har har, yes pun intended.) I’m glad she’s feeling well enough to talk about her experiences, and I hope she’s enjoyed her first year of marriage with a good hubby. She’s earned some good times. As for MF producers Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd, how about you film yourselves walking around in high heels for a day, as a way to step back into her good graces.
