Magic Mike XXL star Channing Tatum covers the August issue of Vanity Fair and opens up about family life with wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum and their 2-year-old daughter Everly.
On his daughter’s birth: “It was crazy. You feel helpless. We like to think of ourselves as big, strong men, and we could handle whatever situation. And reality is [that women] are so much stronger than we could ever be. There’s a reason why we weren’t given that job, evolutionary or whatever. My wife, she’s a warrior. She did it as natural as you can. [As a man], you’re basically a cheerleader. ‘Come on, baby. You can do it.’ I would’ve tapped out in the first.”
On parenthood: “It’s scary. You made this thing and have to bring it into the world together. You think people are going to be there, but ultimately you just have each other. Knock on wood, everything goes well, now you have a baby. They’re like, ‘OK, here you go.’ They hand it to you, and you’re like, ‘Uh, wait a minute. Aren’t you guys going to come home with us and make sure we’re not screwing this thing up?’ I think every parent has that moment where they’re like, ‘Oh, maybe this was a bad idea; We don’t know how to do this.’ You can’t put it back in there. It doesn’t go that direction. But Jenna is a super mom. There’s no other way to say it. She is there every single second, every single day. I love being a dad. They’re like little mirrors running around. They show you things about yourself you wouldn’t pay attention to before. Jenna says it all the time: ‘Oh, my God, that is so you right there.’ But I don’t know if I’m good at it. I now look back on my own parents and have a better appreciation.”
On meeting Jenna on the set of Step Up: “Me and Jenna just saw Step Up on TV, and we watched it for two seconds. We made that 10 years ago or something. It was hard because you’re like, ‘Wow, I remember it being so much better.’ Then other times you’re like, ‘I remember it being worse.’ Things happen that change your perspective. Not just your opinion but your windshield, your lens. Like you put on a 50-mm. [lens], then take that 50 off and put on a 16. Now you can see so much more, but you’re missing the little things. I think for a while I’m going to try to make movies that, even if they don’t make a dollar, I’ll still be so proud to be a part of them that it won’t matter.”
On Magic Mike XXL: “[The characters in the film] have been acting like they’ve been on spring break for 15 years. Now the ride’s over. Everybody’s sobering up, having to figure out what they’re going to do with the rest of their lives. I think this one is probably more what people wanted in the first film. We just couldn’t do it on the first movie. I think we all wanted there to be moments like that in the first film, but the reality of that world is not all giggles and fun. We had to let people understand that we knew the world, that it’s a real one, not savory at times, at least the one I was privy to.”
On if he’ll ever strip on stage again: “Well, we’re going to start a [Magic Mike] show in Vegas, and I’ll never say never. I wouldn’t mind going out there and doing it one more time. Or maybe twice. But, you know, every time I’ve put on a thong and am getting ready to walk onstage again, I’m like, ‘Why do I want to do this?’ It’s very uncomfortable to be in a thong in front of a thousand people. That was going to be one of our plot points: To thong or not to thong. But my wife was like, ‘You cannot have a movie without these guys getting in thongs.’”

Well this development explains a few things. Jennifer Lawrence and the King of Elevator Music broke up again! Us Weekly is exclusively reporting that JLaw and Chris Martin are finished. This split follows an unlikely, year-long romance that few could understand. Chris was still married to Goop until recently, and now that he’s single, Jennifer has moved on. Or did Mr. Coldplay move on first? He was walking arm-in-arm with Kylie Minogue about a week ago in London. Then we saw some attention-seeking behavior on JLaw’s part in the form of mustache and unibrow drawing and chopstick walrus-ing for the paparazzi.
Jennifer previously broke up with Chris last November, but they reunited in time for Dorito Christmas. Here’s the Us take on why it ended again:
It’s such a shame for them to part! Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Martin have split for a second time, Us Weekly exclusively reports in the new issue.
“Jen has been working nonstop and they never saw each other,” an insider tells Us.
The pair, who had been dating for almost a year, previously split last winter for a month before reuniting in December. Since their split, Lawrence, 24, has been spending more time with her ex-boyfriend and X-Men: Apocalypse costar, Nicholas Hoult.
“They’re on great terms now,” the source adds. “And their families have stayed close.’”
The pair posed for a smiling selfie with X-Men director Bryan Singer back in May. While their future is up in the air, things seem to be over between Lawrence and Martin, 38, who was recently spotted going for a 1 a.m. stroll with Kylie Minogue in London. (Minogue’s rep denied the pair were romantic.)
The source adds that Lawrence and Martin’s romance “ran its course.”
[From Us Weekly]
This source is probably from JLaw’s camp. Nobody gets trashed here, but there’s a special shoutout to her recent adorable selfie with Nick Hoult with the potential for a followup romance. Maybe it will happen for them again. I’m not jumping up and down for this Martin Lawrence split as expected. In my mind, the romance was over when they split a dessert in January, but their strawberry fields Easter was talked up big time in the press. JLaw has a history of on-off behavior with boyfriends, so she and Chris could reunite again.
The good news? JLaw won’t have to go on a couples’ retreat with Goop. Bullet dodged.

Academy Award-winning actress Sandra Bullock rocked black and yellow at the Los Angeles premiere of her new film, Minions, on Saturday (June 27). While at the event, the single mom, 50, opened up about her 5-year-old son Louis.
“They worked around my adult schedule…I got to drop Louis at school, I would continue on to [work] and I would sit in a little black booth by myself and no one else around and a microphone,” Bullock told E! News of working on the animated film. “Then they’d let me out just in time to go do the school pick up. They’d always book locations that were in a certain driving distance from Louis’ school, which is pretty great.”
As for her work attire, it was pretty casual on the set.
“It was either bad yoga pants or sweatpants with dog hair on them,” she said, adding, “Just sad things. Towards the end I kind of stepped up my game a little bit. I wanted to leave them on a good note.”
When it comes to mom’s social life, she has to schedule it around her little guy.
“I have to do the baby sitting,” Bullock said. “If I go anywhere it has to be after he’s asleep or there’s a lot of questions and a lot of drama.”
Thanks to mom’s new gig, Louis has his fair share of Minions swag.
“He’s got a couple Minion pieces and they sent over a huge box and I was like, ‘Are you joking me?’ I can’t give a child this much!’” Bullock said. “So after the movie today I’m going to dole out a little bit and give his little friends that he invited a little something. They’re here. They snuck in the side. He doesn’t know this is what I do so he just thinks we’re going to a fun movie and mama just has to do a little work.”
The actress also opened up about Hollywood’s unrealistic beauty standards on women.
“I feel like it’s become open hunting season in how women are attacked and it’s not because of who we are as people, it’s because of how we look or our age,” Bullock said. “I’m shocked—and maybe I was just naïve, but I’m embarrassed by it. My son is getting ready to grow up in this world and I’m trying to raise a good man who values and appreciates women, and here we have this attack on women in the media that I don’t see a stop happening.”
She went on to talk about how girls have it harder than boys in today’s society.
“Little girls are having the hardest time with bullying and the internet—somebody with a very large hand and big voice needs to put a stop to it,” she shared.
And it sounds like her high-profile pals have got her back.
“You’d be surprised at the love that you have in our crazy industry,” Bullock said. “The women have bonded together and have sort of become this tribe of trying to take care of each other and be there for each other in a way, because the minute you step out it’s an onslaught. And I laughed when [People] said they’re gonna be generous and bestow me this wonderful privilege, but I said if I can talk about the amazing women who I find beautiful, which are these women who rise above and take care of business and do wonderful things, and take care of each other, then I’m more than honored to be on the cover of this.”
Watch for Minions to hit theaters on July 10.
Do you realize that Jennifer Aniston hasn’t lined up one single film since her failed Oscar campaign? I think that’s interesting, don’t you? Not only did Hollywood deny her an Oscar nomination, they’re also denying her the chance to try out her dramatic chops in any other film project. Yes, Aniston is rumored to be circling the Mean Moms project from the same people that brought you Mean Girls (and if that happens for Aniston, it’s a good project for her). Meanwhile, Aniston is left with negotiating her way into another Garry Marshall ensemble in the same vein as New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day.
Here is a fresh movie package that will stir up some pre-July 4th fireworks among studios. Julia Roberts is set and Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, and Jason Sudeikis are in negotiations for Mother’s Day, a ensemble film that Garry Marshall is set to direct from a script by Anya Kochoff-Romano and Lily Hollander. The pic tells intertwining stories about the lives of several mothers as the title holiday approaches. It is the latest in Marshall’s holiday movie series that began with New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day, both of which were made by New Line. The package is going out to buyers from CAA this evening.
All of this is moving very quickly, as the film will begin production in August. It marks a re-team between Roberts and Marshall, who worked together on hit Pretty Woman, the film that launched Roberts to become the highest paid star of her era. CAA, which represents Roberts, Aniston, Hudson, and Sudeikis, will represent the film’s domestic distribution rights.
[From Deadline]
Julia just signs on for this stuff because of her friendship with Garry Marshall. For Valentine’s Day, she was featured prominently in all of the ad campaigns and promotion and then it turned out she was only in a few minutes of the film and probably spent like 3 days filming, if that. And why must Garry Marshall dominate all of the holidays? Does anyone else remember the spoof from 30 Rock of Garry Marshall’s Martin Luther King Day trailer? That’s what’s coming.
As for Julia, she is working more these days. The trailer for her new film with Nicole Kidman and Chiwetel Ejiofor was just released – The Secret In Their Eyes.

Younger star Hilary Duff stepped out with son Luca, 3, in Beverly Hills, Calif. on Monday (June 29).
The single mom, 27, hit the shops with her adorable preschooler who made funny faces at the nearby paparazzi.
The day before, the Lizzie McGuire alum shared a cute clip of her son impersonating a pirate.
When Hilary says, “Try to wink,” the adorable preschooler does his best pirate impersonation. “Argh Matey,” Luca says in the video.

As we saw earlier this week, Caitlyn Jenner is in NY filming her reality show following Pride Week, where she made a (presumably paid) appearance. Over the weekend and on Monday, Caitlyn donned a black Herve Leger bandage dress, an LBD and a navy wrap dress. Yesterday she made no less than three outfit changes, two of them wrap dresses and one a rainbow sequin miniskirt presumably picked for her by designer Patricia Field.
First here’s Caitlyn in a leopard print Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress, which is very similar to a leopard print wrap dress that Kim Kardashian has worn. (It’s not the same dress though.) So Kaiser’s comment yesterday about how Caitlyn needed more styling tips from Kim seems to have come to fruition.
Caitlyn then went to the Patricia Field store, and we know the designer was there because she posed for the paps afterwards. Caitlyn spent two hours inside, where it’s assumed she was styled by Field, and then came out in the outfit above. I think she looks hot but this is more of a club or evening outfit, especially with the black sequin top. It would look more suited for a snazzy day out with just a plain black top. The double sequins look like overkill.
Check out that clutch.
For her night out with friend Candis Cayne, at Broadway show “An American in Paris,” Caitlyn wore a navy lace wrap dress with the same black slingback shoes she’s worn in NY to date. Many of you mentioned in our last post on Caitlyn’s fashion that Caitlyn’s style is age-appropriate. She doesn’t dress like a Kardashian. She sure works the paps like a Kardashian that’s for sure. I’m picturing Kris Jenner making out with her boyfriend in Paris, seething at the lack of attention she gets compared to her ex.
I love a good wrap dress and I wear a lot of blue so yes, I would wear this dress. My boobs wouldn’t look as good in it though.

Kim Kardashian is still promoting her book of selfies, Selfish, and she keeps signing on to these relatively prestigious gigs as part of the promotional trail. Last night, she appeared at the Commonwealth Club of California, in a talk that was moderated by Judge LaDoris Cordell. People were mad. The Commonwealth Club of California is a venue that has previously hosted talks with people like Ronald Reagan, FDR and Martin Luther King. And now Kim. The club’s Facebook blew up with all the people complaining about Kim. But at the end of the day, Kim still did the talk. Some highlights from her discussion, via Page Six:
Her big reveal: She was wearing maternity Spanx under her black designer dress to conceal cellulite, not her pregnant belly.
Explaining her popularity: “I really do love social media. I credit it to a lot of my career. My career is based on openness, openness and honesty.”
Her social media followers: “Maybe it’s the bikini selfies. I think I definitely overshare, but I’m really engaged.”
Whether it’s realistic for women to be successful in a man’s world: “There is this generation of young people — girls — who are beautiful but don’t have a strong work ethic. People sometimes think that with looks things will be easy, But I just encourage people to put in the work.”
Whether she’s okay with objectifying herself: “Yes. I don’t think it’s a bad thing. I think there’s power in that and I think I have the control to put out what I want so even if I’m objectifying myself, I feel good about it.”
What it’s like to raise biracial children: Kardashian shared making the difficult decision not to engage with a fellow airline passenger who screamed profanity and racial comments at her while she was traveling with her daughter. West “is very vocal about racial issues,” she said. “Our communication, I think, will be really helpful for our children.”
[From Page Six]
Eh, it is what it is. I never feel weird about objectifying Kim Kardashian because that’s really her raison d’être. To complain about being objectified would be, for Kim, complaining about her fame and accomplishments. I even like the shade Kim threw about the beautiful girls with no work ethic – and I do think she’s right. There are a lot of pretty girls who think “being pretty” is the beginning and the end of their accomplishments.

Mom-to-be Naya Rivera shows off her baby’s neutral-toned nursery in a series of photos for My Domaine. The Glee star, 28, opens up about her favorite pieces in the room, and the inspiration behind the black and white color palette.
On the inspiration for the nursery: “I actually was really inspired by the teepee and sort of built the room around that. Then I stayed within the color palette of black, white, cream, and gray.”
On one of her favorite pieces in the room: “I’m looking forward to using the glider once the baby arrives. I’m sure many nights will be spent bonding with our baby in that chair.” She adds: “I love so many things in the nursery, but my favorite would have to be the bird chandelier. It’s so fun and adds a pop of color and youth!”
On using wallpaper: “I’m a big fan of wallpaper, and the graphic prints on the walls and the striped Roman shades gave the room a nice contrast that will be great for our baby. Babies can only really see black and white and stark contrast for the first few weeks, and they pick up the shape of objects from that.”

Here are some street-style photos of Beyonce out in NYC yesterday. According to Vogue, Beyonce’s high-slit dress is by Self-Portrait. According to the Beyhive on Twitter, it was hot as hell in NYC yesterday and Bey had no reason (other than “fashion”) to pair her Self-Portrait dress with a leather jacket. People are also making fun of Bey for being “vegan” while still wearing leather. But that one is easier to explain – Beyonce’s loosey-goosey veganism isn’t really full-on vegan (she’s more of a lactose-shunning pesca-vegetarian) AND Beyonce’s diet doesn’t have anything to do with animal rights. She doesn’t eat red meat AND she wears leather, ostrich, snakeskin and whatever kind of animal pelt you’ve got.
Anyway, I think Beyonce looks good, although this seems more like a September-October look rather than “beginning of summer.” Speaking of Beyonce’s style, I was reading this interesting profile of stylist Jenke Ahmed Tailly yesterday and it’s really worth a read if you care about how a celebrity’s look evolves, or if you’re interested in Beyonce and Kim Kardashian’s style. Tailly worked with Beyonce as her personal “creative director” for years after styling her for a magazine cover. They parted ways after her album 4, and he went freelance. Which is how he came to style Kim Kardashian. Because of course Kim hired Beyonce’s old stylist. Tailly tells Elle about Kim: “Being African, I particularly find her body proportions so beautiful. But also, like Beyoncé, Kim is a perfect example of a person who is so internally beautiful, with such great values and work ethic.” Um… Kim’s probably going to tattoo that quote on her face, she loves it so much. You can read the piece here.
PS… does anyone else think it’s funny that Beyonce is carrying her Mac like it’s her clutch? She’s not carrying a purse, just her laptop.
