Kelly Rutherford’s custody battle is ongoing and complicated. She’s tried and failed at the federal level to have her two children, Helena, 6, and Hermes, 8, returned to her in the US. A California judge ruled in 2012 that they could live with their German father, Daniel Giersch, overseas. In the latest ruling, the children will come to the US next week for a scheduled visit with her this summer, after some back and forth between custody courts in the US and Monaco.
Along with trying to make this a federal issue, Kelly has petitioned the White House to have her children returned to her. She’s repeatedly said that this is a Constitutional issue and that her children’s rights as citizens have been violated. (Again, a federal court did not agree.) Yesterday, Kelly spoke at a congressional briefing about international child abduction. She has a non-profit called a The Children’s Justice Campaign through which she continues to mischaracterize her ex legally winning custody. Here’s some of what she said:
Rutherford, 46, spoke at a congressional briefing with Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee from Texas on Thursday, participating on behalf of the Children’s Justice Campaign, an advocacy group she founded based on her own struggle to bring son Hermes, 8, and daughter Helena, 6, home to the United States from Monaco, where they have lived with their father, German businessman Daniel Giersch, since 2012.
“Today’s hearing was a wonderful bipartisan showing of support for American families in the midst of international parental child abduction nightmares,” she tells PEOPLE in a statement. “I look forward to continuing to lend my voice to parents who are struggling with these profoundly unjust situations.
“I was particularly excited to hear several members of Congress say that they are proposing new federal legislation that will hold judges accountable and stop them from forcing American children to leave their own country.”
Jackson, 65, chairs the bipartisan House Congressional Children’s Caucus. Rep. Christopher Smith and Rep. Ted Lieu also attended and spoke at the briefing.
International parental child abduction “occurs when one parent unlawfully moves a child from his or her country of residence for the purpose of denying the other parent access to the child,” according to a CRC news release. About 1,000 cases have been reported to the State Department this year.
Rutherford jokingly suggested that by sharing her harrowing tale, she might prevent the pattern from repeating. “I see a lot of young women here today who will probably never marry a foreigner after hearing these stories,” she laughed. “They’re cute. The accents are amazing — but they’re expensive accents.”
On a more serious note: “I fell in love with someone, and I wanted kids. Had I known that this was even possible in my own country, as a mother … it just never occurred to me that this could happen. But it is happening and it is happening every day … to people who have nowhere to go.”
[From People and The Washington Post]
Look, this was not “international child abduction” nor is it an issue that requires any kind of legislative intervention. The Hague Convention on international child abduction does not apply to this case because it was ordered by a judge. In my mind there is no question that judges should have the authority to send children to live in other countries with foreign parents if that’s the best option for the children.
I live in the US, my son’s father lives in Germany and we share custody of our 10 year-old son. My son lives with me, but he spends the summers with his dad and his dad visits him frequently. Obviously I don’t know Kelly’s ex, but the reason I side with him is because I’ve read and paid attention to everything both he and Kelly have said, and I read the judge’s decision. Everything Kelly has done seems geared to cut Daniel out of his children’s lives, and she’s still talking like this even though he has the children full time. She had the guy deported. She acts as if the US is the only place the children should be raised when in fact they seem to be well cared for by their dad and grandparents and they go to an excellent international school.
She’s treating this like child abduction when it’s not, it was a judge’s decision. Yes, I should not assume that her ex is as reasonable as mine, but I’m reasonable too. You have to be when you’re co-parenting. This woman just does not seem to get it at all, and it sounds like she wants to “win” this custody battle instead of trying to consider what’s best for her children. Maybe her ex is the same though, but if so he’s played it incredibly close to his chest.
Oh and as for the things Kelly said about marrying foreign guys, she sounds like an a–hole.
Kelly Instagrammed so many photos of her visit yesterday, including this one which is composed of multiple face shots.

Mom-of-three Kourtney Kardashian shared an updated shot of her 6-month-old son Reign via Instagram Thursday.
“Three women and a baby,” Kourtney captioned the image with pals Melissa Monaco and Allie Rizzo.
Earlier this week, the reality star, 36, posted a photo with nearly 3-year-old daughter Penelope.
The KUWTK star and her longtime beau Scott Disick are also parents to 5-year-old son Mason.

Who was the biggest stripper at last night’s Magic Mike XXL premiere in LA? You decide. Channing Tatum was at his Charming Potato best with his wife Jenna Dewan. Jenna wore Reem Acra – I think Jenna is so beautiful, but her premiere looks sort of blend together. I can’t figure out if that’s because she’s just wearing the same kinds of dresses over and over, or if standing next to Channing sort of makes her unmemorable. Channing does look great, doesn’t he?
Amber Heard flew solo last night (no Scarfy) and she wore Monique Lhuillier Fall 2015. I really like the color but she needs to go a few shades darker with the hair. Her hair looks fried. She was gorgeous as a brunette, so maybe that’s the answer.
Matt Bomer is so hot, even Channing Taum has a crush on him.
Elizabeth Banks in Balmain Spring 2015. Banks needs more props for being a bold fashionista. I love her so much.
Adam Rodriguez is a new stripper in the sequel. He’s cute and he’s crazy-tall. He reminds me of, like, a Hispanic Calvin Harris.
Jada Pinkett Smith in Ermanno Scervino. I feel like she’s making an effort to go with a softer look, right? And it’s not bad at all.
Andie McDowell is part of Magic Mike’s journey somehow.
I honestly think Joe Manganiello might be the biggest stripper of the premiere?

Michael Bublé‘s 22-month-old son Noah has been hospitalized in Argentina after suffering burns.
The tot’s mother, model Luisana Lopilato, responded to Argentinian news reports that Noah had been rushed to hospital due to serious burns.
“Thank you all for joining me even in these moments!” Lopilato wrote via Facebook Thursday evening. “My son is very well. God willing soon we will return home.”
Several local news outlets reported Noah suffered “serious” burns after an accident with scalding water. Reportedly, the incident happened at home.
Lopilato, 28, took Noah to the German Hospital in Buenos Aires on Thursday, June 25. Reportedly, the Grammy Award-winning singer, 39, was out of the country at the time of the accident.
News of the unfortunate accident comes just days after Lopilato posted a sweet photo of the father-son duo taking a nap together.
“You…. You are the best dad ever @michaelbuble !!! We love you!! #happyfathersday,” she Instragrammed the image Sunday.
Here’s wishing Noah a speedy recovery!

Joe Manganiello has a great body. Even though I’m not a big fan, I’ll admit that. Sometimes, Joe looks a bit too gristly and ‘roidy, but for the most part, his body is great and you can tell her really takes care of himself and that he’s a total gym rat. But how big of a gym rat? That’s the question. According to Page Six, Joe recently spent a full hour in the gym… solely working on his abs.
Joe Manganiello is abs-olutely obsessed with his physique. The hunky actor, 38, spent an entire hour exercising only his abs at the South Beach, Fla., Equinox on Tuesday, a source tells Page Six. The “Magic Mike XXL” star has been showing off his ripped stomach on the film’s press tour.
“Joe’s been really hitting the gym hard,” the source said. “He extends his workouts down on the beach!”
[From Page Six]
CB, Bedhead and I were chatting about this and Bedhead was basically like “he better have a day solely devoted to his back too, or his body is going to be out of whack.” My general thoughts on ab work is “please avoid whenever possible.” I would out a lot, but I rarely devote time to ab work, because ab work HURTS and if I had to spend an hour on just abs, I would cry and then not go to the gym. The goal (for me) is to go and do something and have fun – I’m not training for anything specific, I just go to the gym because I enjoy it and I would not enjoy an hour of ab work. I think there’s a strong possibility that Joe was just doing “Ab Day” and maybe the next day was “Arm Day” or whatever. It’s also possible he was working his abs specifically for a photoshoot or something. Who knows?
Here are some photos of Joe and Sofia Vergara at last night’s premiere of Magic Mike XXL. You know what’s idiotic? Supposed “pro-life” protesters came out to the premiere solely to protest Sofia Vergara’s decision to keep her embryos frozen. Nick Loeb probably paid them, don’t you think? Lord, this just makes me feel sorry for her.

A week ago, I covered Cara Delevingne’s first-ever (and possibly last) solo American Vogue cover. I didn’t think much of the editorial, but as I said last week, Cara actually gave Vogue a pretty decent interview. “Decent” meaning that Cara is sort of a hot mess and it turned out to be a very readable piece. I excerpted some of what I thought were the most interesting parts of a very quotable interview, including Cara’s thoughts on her bisexuality, her relationship with St. Vincent, and how she’s still attracted to men and how she sees herself getting married to a man one day and having babies. That part of the interview is worth returning too, in context (because the context is very important). Here’s how Vogue writer Rob Haskell dealt with the issue of Cara’s bisexuality in context:
Those who have been gathering the crumbs on Cara’s romantic trail may be confused about whether it’s men or women who excite her. She conveys a Millennial’s ennui at the expectation that she ought to settle upon a sexual orientation, and her interests—video games, yes; manicures, no—might register as gender-defiant in the realm of dresses and heels. (“I’m a bro-ey chick,” says Cara.) As this story went to press, she was seriously involved with the singer Annie Clark, better known by her stage name, St. Vincent. “I think that being in love with my girlfriend is a big part of why I’m feeling so happy with who I am these days. And for those words to come out of my mouth is actually a miracle.”
Cara says she felt confused by her sexuality as a child, and the possibility of being gay frightened her. “It took me a long time to accept the idea, until I first fell in love with a girl at 20 and recognized that I had to accept it,” she explains. “But I have erotic dreams only about men. I had one two nights ago where I went up to a guy in the back of a VW minivan, with a bunch of his friends around him, and pretty much jumped him.” Her parents seem to think girls are just a phase for Cara, and they may be correct. “Women are what completely inspire me, and they have also been my downfall. I have only been hurt by women, my mother first of all.
“The thing is,” she continues, “if I ever found a guy I could fall in love with, I’d want to marry him and have his children. And that scares me to death because I think I’m a whole bunch of crazy, and I always worry that a guy will walk away once he really, truly knows me.” When I suggest to Cara that to trust a man, she might have to revise an old and stubborn idea of hers—that women are perennially troubled and therefore only women will accept her—her smile says she concedes the point.
[From Vogue]
My problem is with the false dichotomy that if a girl isn’t into dresses and heels, her sexuality is totally not heteronormative. But other people took issue with the way this is phrased: “Her parents seem to think girls are just a phase for Cara, and they may be correct.” A petition was started by Care2 user Julie Rodriguez for Anna Wintour to apologize for Cara’s cover feature in general, or specifically for the wording around Cara’s self-identification as bisexual. The petition has already gotten 13,000 signatures. Rodriguez writes:
“The idea that queer women only form relationships with other women as a result of childhood trauma is a harmful (and false) stereotype that lesbian and bisexual women have been combating for decades. How could Vogue’s editorial staff greenlight this article and publish it without anyone raising concerns about this dismissive and demeaning language? As a bisexual woman myself, I’ve experienced hurtful comments like this many times. People are quick to assume queer women’s identities are a ‘phase’ and to refuse to recognize the important relationships in their lives.”
[Via E! News]
While I understand Ms. Rodriguez’s issue and agree that the wording could have been much more respectful, I do think that some of the anger could be directed at Cara Delevingne and how poorly she explains her identification. Granted, it’s not our business and Cara doesn’t owe us an explanation, but she talked about many intimate and personal subjects in the Vogue piece and she had to know that she would get some questions about her relationship with St. Vincent and her past relationships with women. Cara herself makes her bisexuality sound like a phase, and the word “phase” is used in relation to what Cara’s parents think, not the Vogue writer. As for the trauma Cara faced because of her mom’s heroin addiction and whether there was a correlation/causation to her bisexuality – Cara went there, not Vogue. Cara talked about her sexuality and her feelings towards women in relation to her past family situation.

Is it wrong to think that Kim Kardashian actually looks very voluptuous and sexy in these photos? Don’t say it, I know it’s wrong. These are photos of Kim and Kanye West out and about in London last night. Kim was in the South of France for most of this week, and she must have flown to England on Thursday to meet up with Kanye. He looks thrilled, doesn’t he? You’ve got to remember, not smiling makes him smile. The more morose and depressed he looks, the happier he is. Or something. Kim and Ye’s body language is totally off in these photos, right? Then again, they’re generally not the most affectionate couple. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Kanye wasn’t even a big fan of holding hands.
Meanwhile, while Kim was in Cannes with her mom, they might have disrespected two women. Maybe. Sort of? The story is sort of complicated. Two women, wives of “the two men who inspired the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge” tried to speak to Kim while Kim and Kris Jenner were shopping. The women claim Kris was outwardly rude to them and that Kim refused to take a photo with them. The women told their story on Facebook. But TMZ got Kim’s side of the story, of course.
Kim Kardashian is calling BS on a story told by the wives of the 2 men who inspired the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge — claiming she was being uncaring and snobby. Eyewitnesses who were with Kim tell TMZ … Kim insists the incident, which one of the women chronicled on Facebook, did not go down the way they said.
The women claim they saw Kim and Kris Jenner in Celine — a fancy schmancy women’s store — and asked for a pic with Kim, after explaining who they were. They say when they told Kris their husbands had ALS, Kris fliply responded, “Oh fun,” and Kim and Kris blew the women off by refusing a photo.
But we’re told a group of women hounded Kim and some even knocked on her dressing room while she was naked. Sources say when Kim came out Kris was talking to a couple of ladies and they told her they were in Cannes and were having a great time shopping and going to parties, and that’s when Kris replied, “Oh fun.”
As for denying a pic, the eyewitnesses claim neither of the women asked Kim for a photo when she walked out of the dressing room. She simply exited and smiled for all the cameras pointed in her direction. Our sources say, Kim and her mom obviously support the cause … as you know Kim famously did the challenge on TV, and if Kim knew the women were even there, she would have loved to sit down with them and talk about how she could help.
[From TMZ]
What’s the truth? I have no idea. I think it’s perfectly possible that Kris would have been glib with these women, perhaps even disbelieving of their stories. I also think that it’s perfectly possible that Kim would have stopped and given these women – and anyone else – a photo, because that’s who she is. She loves the camera. Why wouldn’t she pose for photos? So if she didn’t pose for photos, she probably wasn’t asked. I don’t know. Seems like a little misunderstanding probably got blown out of proportion.

GAME OF THRONES SPOILERS
Are you still upset that Jon Snow is deader than dead, deady dead dead dead? I am, a little bit, but only because the writers and Kit Harington are being SO obtuse with their denials and insistence on saying that OF COURSE Jon Snow is dead and never, ever coming back (or not coming back “next season”). But there’s already a veritable cornucopia of conspiracies forming on the interwebs about Jon and how He Knows Nothing, Especially About Being Dead. So, let’s get to it.
Kit Harington won’t be at Comic-Con this year. HBO hosts a Game of Thrones panel discussion every year at San Diego Comic-Con, and every year, they invite the recently killed-off actors to come out. Last year, Pedro Pascal came out and talked about how much he loved playing Prince Oberyn. This year, Kit – arguably the biggest death shocker in several seasons – will not be at Comic-Con. WHAT DOES IT MEAN?! Also missing from this year’s GoT panel: George RR Martin, DB Weiss and David Benioff.
Conspiracy: George RR Martin’s next book won’t have any Jon Snow. That’s the theory, that The Winds of Winter, Martin’s next book, won’t have much of anything to do with Jon and then Martin will focus on Jon’s story in the seventh book, A Dream of Spring. This is sort of based on Martin’s present-tense wording in a recent interview, where he referenced what “Jon Snow’s arc is gonna be.” As in, there’s still an arc to go on? Of course, in a recent interview, Martin said that he was still trying to figure out how a major female character was going to die. Huh.
Season 6 may include info about Jon Snow’s parents. You know, R+L=J. The reasoning for this is sort of… intense. The GoT site Watchers On the Wall got their hands on some casting info for Season 6, and producers MIGHT be casting for Arthur Dayne. Which means Season 6 might involve a flashback to the Tower of Joy, which might mean we finally learn about what really happened with Lyanna Stark. Maybe. Might. And why go through all that if Jon Snow is never coming back?
The Khaleesi doesn’t think Jon Snow is dead. Emilia Clarke chatted with MTV and of course they asked her some GoT questions (even though she was promoting that Terminator movie). Emilia admits that Dan Weiss and David Benioff don’t tell her anything because “they know that I can’t lie very well.” Interesting. She says that they haven’t told her about Jon Snow’s REAL fate so “I can, with all honesty, say I have no idea what’s happening.” Emilia says that if she was laying down money on it, she’d say Jon Snow has a “50/50” shot at being not-dead.
Is this the nerdiest thing I’ve ever written? Probably. I’d like to think that there are Jon Snow Birthers (fans of R+L=J) AND Jon Snow Truthers (fans that say Jon Snow will be resurrected).

I’ve never been a proponent of telling pregnant teenage girls that their pregnancies are “punishment” for having sex. I don’t think anyone, young or old, male or female, should view pregnancy and parenthood as punishments. So I always had some sympathy for Bristol Palin when she first burst into the national consciousness in 2008 as the knocked up 16 year old daughter of then vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin. Bristol made a series of a bad choices and she got knocked up and she ended up making the best of the situation for her (because it was her body, her choice) by not marrying her baby-daddy and then becoming a single mom. That kind of “trust a woman to make her own reproductive and marriage choices” ideology will never be found in the Palins’ party, mind you.
What I’m trying to say is that Bristol largely got a pass the first time around. She was a dumb teenager and she did the best she could. But the second time around? OMG. Yes, it turns out that Bristol Palin is knocked up again. Still unmarried too, which doesn’t bother me but is SO RICH AND DELICIOUS considering the GOP’s public shaming of unwed mothers, etc. Bristol’s announcement comes about five weeks after she called off her wedding at the last minute. She was supposed to marry a dude named Dakota Meyer, and some believe that she called off the wedding because he didn’t tell her about his first wife. So is Dakota the baby-daddy? Bristol doesn’t say. Here’s what she posted on her blog:
(I’m announcing this news a lot sooner than I ever expected due to the constant trolls who have nothing better to talk about!!!)
I wanted you guys to be the first to know that I am pregnant. Honestly, I’ve been trying my hardest to keep my chin up on this one. At the end of the day there’s nothing I can’t do with God by my side, and I know I am fully capable of handling anything that is put in front of me with dignity and grace.
Life moves on no matter what. So no matter how you feel, you get up, get dressed, show up, and never give up. When life gets tough, there is no other option but to get tougher.
I know this has been, and will be, a huge disappointment to my family, to my close friends, and to many of you. But please respect Tripp’s and my privacy during this time. I do not want any lectures and I do not want any sympathy.
My little family always has, and always will come first. Tripp, this new baby, and I will all be fine, because God is merciful.
[From Patheos]
Once again, pregnancy as punishment. Her life is “tough” and her decision to get pregnant (again) and keep the baby (again) is thought to be a “disappointment” to her family. This is how the family-values crowd twists everything around. And you know what? I say it’s totally cool to judge Bristol. Her blog reveals her judgment of other people’s life choices and general hypocritical wingnuttery. So I’m judging her. Girl, get some Depo-Provera!! You probably wouldn’t have a co-pay with Obamacare (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA).
