Here are some photos of Kim Kardashian at the Cannes Lions festival on Wednesday. Her Beetlejuice suit is Balmain and while it’s not super-flattering, I like that Kim understands that at least she needs to wear vertical stripes. Kanye West did a talk at the festival last year, so it’s Kim’s turn this year. She’s been in the South of France for much of the week, and something really crazy happened to her on Tuesday night – a naked drunk lady pounded on the door of her hotel room demanding to be let in. Kim tweeted about it yesterday:

Thanks to the drunk naked woman banging on my door I have been up since 4 am! I’m so sleepy now but have to work! It’s gonna be a long day! I took a fun video of her as a reminder of why I never tolerated drinking 2 much! Slob kabob! I won’t post it but it’s funny! She thought her Amex was my room key lol. Kim also chatted about the incident at her Cannes Lions discussion, saying that the woman wasn’t so much knocking as “banging and kicking.” Since it was 4 am, Kim said, “I screamed profanities at her and told her to put some clothes on and get off my door, but she kept using her AmEx as the key. She had no idea it was my room.” That’s really crazy.

Anyway, Kim’s discussion was really about the future of social media and her mobile video game, which is still making crazy money.

About her game, Kim Kardashian: Hollywood: “The game is you just want to make it in Hollywood, you want to make it to the A-list and get as many fans and followers and cool wardrobes as possible … we really mirror my real life, and make it in real time…I wouldn’t say it was risky, but it was new territory for me to go into the gaming space … I had just had my daughter and I just wasn’t sure I really wanted to be working this much, and I wanted to be sure I could give it 100 percent. It was actually my husband that talked me into it, he loves video games.”

Social media: “I don’t have a strategy, and I don’t have a team doing it for me, I am not knocking anyone else that does that, but I don’t find it to be authentic, if you are talking about personal things and sharing personal photos, but you are having someone else do that for you… My Myspace page just resurfaced and it was pretty embarrassing, I called myself a princess.”

Her current social media strategy: “You just have to be authentic. There’s nothing more than I can’t stand is when Instagram becomes very promotional. I know a lot of my brands get frustrated that I don’t promote as much as they would like, but I only do it if it’s authentic, if I genuinely love it. I have really stayed true to myself on Instagram — maybe too many bikini selfies for some people, but it’s what I want.”

Women in gaming: “Gaming is typically a men’s world, most of the games are male-driven, so I feel excited we brought a female fan base to the gaming and to the tech world, and I hope that this brings other opportunities for women in this field.”

Call me Kaiser Kardashian, but I really don’t have a problem with anything she says here. I mean, what we always say about Kim is true: she’s a self-centered, vapid narcissist. But she’s really not trying to convince people she’s anything but that. And she’s figured out a way to become a very rich woman because of her vapid narcissism. So… sure. Congratulations are in order for Jennifer Love Hewitt and Brian Hallisay.

The Client List costars, both 36, welcomed their second child – son Atticus James Hallisay – on Wednesday, June 24, E! News reports.

Already parents to 18-month-old daughter Autumn James, the couple announced they were expecting another baby — and delivery surprise — together in January.

“Pregnancy is magical. I’m grateful. It’s not lost on me what a gift it is to be able to get pregnant,” said the Party of Five alum in April.

The Criminal Minds star recently bared her bump for Palmer’s pregnancy products.

“These are products that I believe in and actually use,” she said. “They help moms to embrace the natural glow of pregnancy and I find it so empowering to be able to show my pregnancy off in this way.”

Jennifer Love Hewitt, 36, and her husband of two years, Brian Hallisay, also 36, just welcomed their second baby. The couple had a son whom they named Atticus James. Atticus joins his sister, Autumn James, 18 months. That’s cute that they used James as the second name for both of their children, I’ve never heard of a family doing that before.

The last time we covered Hewitt, she spoke to People Magazine as part of her new promotional duties for Palmer’s stretch mark cream. She said that she and her Hallisay chose not to learn the sex of their second baby ahead of time, which drove their family and friends “crazy”. Hallisay had the strong feeling that he was having another girl, as he’s close to his sister and mother, but was said to be “prepared either way“. This new baby’s gender must have been a pleasant surprise.

As for the name, I like it and wonder if it was picked out ahead of time. It’s a rare combination of a unique name that isn’t stigmatizing at all. Atticus is of course the father and civil rights lawyer in To Kill a Mockingbird. It’s listed as a boy’s name but I think it could also work for a girl. Kaiser disagrees and says it’s a “straight up boy’s name.” (I’ve never met anyone named Atticus, but she has.) The name is rising in popularity and will only become more common now. Casey Affleck has a son named Atticus and Mary-Louise Parker used Atticus as her son William’s middle name.

Despite the fact that Hewitt used to be so open about her private life that she would use the press to troll for dates and pressure boyfriends to propose, she’s never shown a photo of her daughter Autumn’s face. Hewitt hasn’t held the baby up for the paparazzi, nor has she opted to post any hand or foot photos of her daughter to social media. So we’re unlikely to see a photo of the new baby, which is Hewitt’s choice and is somewhat admirable to me considering she’s never made a point of it. (I know I say this every time I cover her lately, but the press hasn’t picked up on it yet and I’m hoping they will.) I’m glad that Hewitt let us know the baby’s name, though. Congratulations to Hewitt and Hallisay on their new arrival!

For the past week, Rande Gerber has been Instagramming photos from a “boys only” road trip through what looks like the American Southwest. It seems like they’re traveling along Route 66, stopping along the way to take beautiful scenic photos – go here to see Rande’s Instagram. The roadtrip crew includes Rande, George Clooney and what looks like at least two other dudes (it could be three or more others though). All of the dudes are on their motorcycles. I think I see Grant Heslov in one of the photos?

According to People Magazine, Rande and George “reportedly” kicked off their roadtrip in Jalisco, Mexico, which is also the site of their Casamigos Tequila distillery. This roadtrip might be just an extended promotional tour for the tequila company, I’m not sure. I’m also not sure why George is shilling tequila so hard these days? Is it because no one wants to see his movies anymore, very few people are buying his love story and tequila is literally all he has to offer?

Speaking of The Great Alamooney Love Story… is this suspicious? So many loved-up displays, so much work on Amal Clooney’s part to stay near George for months after their wedding, and then she suddenly flies to London and stays there for weeks on end while George goes to Cabo with Rande and then they do a boys-only roadtrip? Granted, that kind of schedule suited George’s previous girlfriends. But I’ve got to wonder if George and Amal already needed a little break from each other. Who do you think is more annoying?

Here are photos of Kylie Jenner looking robotic at the Mail’s Cannes Lions yacht party on Wednesday. These photos aren’t very well lit, but Us Weekly has a picture that shows Kylie’s makeup malfunction. She got carried away with the concealer, but I barely noticed since she’s barely wearing anything. Of course Kris Jenner is posing alongside her 17-year-old daughter like everything is perfectly normal. At least this outfit didn’t require duct tape, but the rear shot (over on Instagram) is slightly more revealing.

Kylie spoke with the Mail during the party. She addresses her financial independence, her friendship with Tyga (ha), and how much work she puts into achieving the perfect selfie:

The art of the selfie: “I take, like, 500 selfies to get one I like. Sometimes I regret putting one up if I find a better one later. I’m like damn, that’s a better photo, but that’s the only thing I regret.”

On Tyga: “Tyga’s one of my best friends ever so it’s so much fun to travel with him. I always like having my friends out on the road with me. He’s doing some stuff out in Cannes, so it’s just fun.”

On Kris: “I love to hang out with my mum as well. She’s wilder than me. Last night, I went to bed at midnight and she stayed out much later than me doing her thing. She taught us from a young age how to support ourselves and I think it was a great thing to learn.”

Now Kylie is calling Tyga “one of my best friends ever.” She’s still playing coy even if Tyga doesn’t care any more what people think. Tyga was at the yacht party too. He and Kylie posed with Kris and her boytoy, Corey Gamble. Are you surprised to hear that Kris stays out later than her own daughter? I’m not, nor is it shocking to hear that Kylie spends so much time on selfies. She learned from the best.

Selena Gomez and Jennifer Aniston are somewhat unlikely friends. Their friendship developed over the past year, year and a half. They share the same management and they seemed especially friendly during the Oscar season for some reason. I guess on Jennifer’s side, she sees a bit of herself in Selena. On Selena’s side, she gets to hang out with one of her idols. Anyway, Selena was asked about her friendship with Aniston in a recent radio interview and Selena – being the 22-year-old that she is – actually said that Aniston gives her “maternal advice.”

Everyone knows that Selena Gomez is a huge fan of Jennifer Aniston, but what many probably don’t realize is that they are also BFFs.

“She’s amazing,” the 22-year-old singer said of the former “Friends” star during a radio interview with KTU’s Carolina Bermudez.

“So you guys are, like, really friends?” Bermudez asked in disbelief.

“Yeah… we met through my management — they manage her as well — so it was kind of like a friendly meeting and instantly she’s, like, inviting me to her house,” Gomez revealed. “She has a pizza oven. Like, we’ve made pizzas at her house. She’s very cool and very sweet. She kind of gives me a lot of, like, maternal advice.”

Fans may remember that the two met last December during a party in Los Angeles. Following the encounter Gomez shared her excitement on Instagram.

“I have not only been following her career as a fan since I was 8 and now get to watch her completely transform in her new movie ‘CAKE,’ I have gotten to have real conversations with such a real heart, made my entire year,” she captioned a black-and-white photo of the two locked in a sweet embrace.

And I’m also going to say that Jennifer probably doesn’t mind… that much. But here’s a word to the wise for all the younger girls: just because a woman older than you is giving you advice, doesn’t mean that we’re “maternal.” Fun sidenote though: Jennifer Aniston is actually 7 years older than Selena’s mother. Marilyn Manson gave a huge speech at Cannes Lions about brand awareness. The very idea of MM as a “brand” is hilarious, right? Manson’s a businessman in addition to being a rock star (though he’s not as hard core as Dave Grohl). The Cannes crowd reportedly found him very entertaining. They hung upon his words as if he was giving a TED talk. He looked almost normal too, aside from those chrome teeth. Manson at age 46 is turning out to be an interesting spectacle, but one that is different from his previous circus act routine.

Manson covered a variety of subjects. He expressed regret at how he self-harmed on Christmas in 2009 (as previously detailed to Spin). This was after Evan Rachel Wood dumped him for good. He called her 158 times and cut himself each time she didn’t answer. He was on drugs and out of his mind. His career would soon spiral nearly to the point of no return (after it nearly ended once after the Columbine shootings). Manson’s in a much better place now. I’m not joking. His latest record is a critical hit. Dude is selling out midsize venues around the world (remember, the 1990s are back). Some Cannes highlights:

The Manson dilemma: “I don’t like being a celebrity. It’s difficult because you don’t want to become a caricature of yourself, and you don’t want to be a cliche … sometimes I wonder if I have outgrown the spotlight. You have to question these things. I still get excited performing live still, but when you see the immediate reaction from a crowd, its like being a theater performer, its something you can’t get from being a writer or being an ad man … its almost ritualistic.”

The current state of fame: “It has become increasingly more difficult to maintain what I call ‘not emptying a bucket of mystery,’ there are a lot of people who know a lot about your life. People have an opinion on the internet, but they are all hiding behind the cloak of the internet. Having a persona online doesn’t make you a personality now. When everyone can be famous, to me it’s not a challenge. The best will rise to the top.”

The 1999 Columbine shootings: “When Columbine happened, it really shut down my career entirely, the casinos and the establishments refused to book my shows, it was almost unprecedented, not only did I not do anything, but they were not fans of mine, I sat and watched it live on TV and they said initially they were wearing Manson make-up and t-shirts, then we found out later that they weren’t, but once the wheels started spinning … They put these two killers on the cover of Time magazine. I’ve never been on the cover of Time magazine. That’s the whole point.”

We’re stuck with him: “A lot of people ask me if I would ever become an expatriate, and I considered the idea, but I think America needs someone like me to make it not suck as much as it could.”

His new sound: “I don’t believe you can ever get lazy enough about your fan base. A lot of people say they want to appeal to fans, but I want to make new fans I want people who didn’t like me before to listen to my music.”

On Evan Rachel Wood: “Mistake! Anybody with three names I don’t trust. Don’t ever trust a girl with three names, she will be combing your eyelashes while you are sleeping and stab you. I last time I was in Cannes, I was with Dita. It was the only time I was ever married. Even though it failed, it was my longest relationship — other than Johnny.”

Always with the Johnny Depp namedropping. They’re such an odd couple but much healthier for each other than Manson and Evan were. That was a completely dysfunctional relationship, which led to Manson’s worst album. Evan can’t be blamed for the music, and Manson was clearly obsessed and lost in absinthe, which he’s since given up for the gym. Anyway, Manson is correct. His new album is completely different than anything he’s done, and it would win over people who previously couldn’t stand him. The trick is getting people to give him a chance.

Carmen Llywelyn was married to Jason Lee from 1995-2001. They dated for about a year before tying the knot in a ceremony officiated by Bodhi Elfman, a Scientologist buddy of Jason. Soon enough, she was pulled into the cult. Carmen previously spoke out about how Jason allegedly abused her during their marriage. She now lives in Atlanta with her partner and their twin children. She keeps a very low profile but is still haunted by her cult experience. Her Instagram page indicates that she’s struggling to deprogram herself after more than a decade away from the cult.

Carmen wrote a very lengthy essay for Gawker. I’m only including a few excerpts due to space considerations, but you can read the whole essay here. Carmen talks about the cult seduction process and how she was eventually declared a Suppressive Person. The disconnection process she describes sounds so cruel. Carmen read an anti-Scientology book, and she told her manager (also a CO$ member) about it. Within a few days, she received a paragraph-long dismissal letter from Jason. Her talent agency dropped her from its rolls. She lost her career, and her marriage was over. Her story reveals how things grew even worse:

I was a Scientologist for eight years. Although I identified as one I didn’t really understand what actually being a Scientologist fully entailed until after a couple of years of being heavily indoctrinated. The reality of Scientology is deceptively hidden and cleverly disguised. When I look at Scientology today, I have to forgive myself for not seeing through the manipulation sooner. I’ve spent the last 13 years keeping Scientology out of my life. It hasn’t been easy, but I’ve realized that the religion is built on a foundation of violence. I’m proud to add my voice to the many who, despite fear of retribution and humiliation, have come forward to tell of our experiences.
….
When I first started Scientology, I figured I’d likely have to do something pretty bad in the religion’s eyes to earn the Suppressive Person label. Something horrible like killing someone or printing fake money, I don’t know, something truly criminal. I wouldn’t have ever dreamed that I would one day earn this distinction because I read a book (A Piece of Blue Sky, by former Scientologist Jon Atack, which forever changed my life) that opposed the church’s beliefs. Most people know the only view you’ll see of any Scientologist once they disconnect from you will be their backs. Before I was disconnected with him, I still got along with Jason as long as I agreed with his and the church’s demands. But when I revealed over the telephone to my talent manager, Gay Ribisi, that I’d read an anti-Scientology book, it started the chain of events that led to me being disconnected with everyone I had known.

Suddenly, my entire life got stolen out from under me. My entire support structure shattered. Nothing that I knew was ever the same. I lost Gay, Jason, and every friend and source of love I knew besides my family in Georgia, 3,000 miles away. I was completely on my own and not one of them cared. What I didn’t expect to happen was that Gay would get my agent at United Talent Agency to drop me. Or at least that’s what she told me in her disconnection letter I received two days after our phone call. So I had no way of even getting work. I was supposed to start over.

I always joke that for people to understand what ex-Scientologists go through, they’d have to take a class on it. One thing they would learn about is something called “Fair Game” — a practice Scientology uses to target its enemies. This is what happened to me after I divorced Jason and was disconnected from Scientology.

Scientology has a sophisticated intelligence agency known as the Office of Special Affairs, which is essentially a complex system dedicated to ruining the lives of those it sees as enemies in any way possible. Those who work for the OSA do not follow the law. I didn’t believe any of this was real until I left and started to research it in the attempt to figure out the strange things that were happening to me and my family — like how and why my former best friend suddenly knew about everything about my personal life, and why she felt compelled to involve herself in it.

There was more. Vicious rumors were being spread about things I had said only while in session, which I was made to believe were private. Some rumors I knew could only come from certain people, like Jason. I got followed all the time. People in public would loudly discuss a conversation I had just had in private, word for word. Similar things occurred on social media.

No one imagines themselves as so fragile to ever let something as sinister as a cult take control of their minds. I didn’t think anyone would ever tell me how to think and when to think it. We all believe we’re above such things and only stupid people could fall for that.

Carmen puts the whole Celebrity Centre on blast, which is one of Scientology’s methods to lure members. L. Ron Hubbard organized his cult this way from the very beginning. He wanted to use celebs to recruit the general public, who would all believe they would become successful entertainers too.

I’m glad Carmen is speaking out, especially when she discusses how easy it is to be swindled by the cult. Lots of people don’t understand how anyone would fall for the Xenu stories. But that information isn’t revealed to members until much further down the line than the love-bombing period. Paul Haggis wrote about how he remained blind for most of his CO$ tenure. At a certain point, members have wasted so much time and money that it’s hard to admit falling for L. Ron Hubbard’s science-fiction nonsense. Even Tom Cruise grew ragey when he learned the Xenu story, but he got pulled back into the cult too. There are no easy solutions to the CO$ problem, but the Going Clear documentary has helped open the public’s eyes. I hope ex-members like Carmen keep talking.

Khloe Kardashian apparently took a female friend, Malika, on a girls’ vacation to Hawaii more than a week ago. I don’t think we covered anything about the trip, mostly because we didn’t have any photos and that means that Khloe was making an effort to fly undercover. Khloe only Instagrammed one photo from the trip – go here to see – and that was Malika. But what if Khloe actually went to Hawaii to meet up with a secret lover? That’s what Star Magazine alleges – they say Khloe has been meeting up with Houston Rocket James Harden. Huh.

Khloe Kardashian was spending time with an undercover guy while in Hawaii – 25-year-old Houston Rockets shooting guard James Harden!

“Malika was a cover,” the source says. “Khloé was only there to meet up with James.”

The NBA All-Star splurged on a $8,500-a-night suite at Honolulu’s Halekulani Hotel for Khloé, 31, and his entourage. The group rode ATVs and dined at Nobu before partying at Addiction Nightclub (where Khloé and James left separately to avoid being photographed together). But hiding from the cameras didn’t quite work. The source says the pair were seen kissing on the hotel grounds and that Khloé was spotted on the balcony of James’ room “wearing just a towel.”

Did Khloé trade in one baller for another? Star readers know the Kardashian sister was spotted with retired NBA Player Rick Fox, 45, just last month. But don’t read too much into her hookups.

“Right now, Khloé just wants fun, no-strings-attached hookups,” dishes the source.

So is there a next for James and Khloé? Yes! James will be in his hometown of Los Angeles during the NBA off-season this summer. “They’re definitely going to spend more time together,” the pal adds. “He’s [Khloé’s] latest crush.”

Khloe still has unfinished business with Lamar Odom, but I’m happy to see that French Montana has been seemingly phased out of Khloe’s love life. Honestly, I don’t hate the idea of Khloe just spending some time having fun, not jumping into anything serious. That’s what she needs after all of the nonsense with Lamar. I don’t know anything about James Harden, but my guess is that a 25-year-old NBA star probably isn’t looking to settle down… with a Kardashian or anyone else.

Sigh… this is my favorite version of Michael Fassbender. I love it when his hair is grown out and almost shaggy, and I love it when he’s rocking a scraggly ginger beard. Even though Fassy is no longer my #1 Crush, I still have some moments with him.

These are photos of Fassy in London yesterday, looking like he was just hanging out, chatting with some friends. He stopped and kissed the cheek of a mystery woman. Fassy’s currently in London, maybe working on X-Men: Apocalypse, which very well could be his last X-Men film. Fassy, James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence reportedly signed on to X-Men: First Class with options for two sequels. If producers want any of them to do more X-Men films, their paychecks would probably skyrocket. X-Men: Apocalypse is where we’ll see the introduction of a very young Jean Grey as well – and she’s being played by Sophie Turner, also known as Sansa Stark from Game of Thrones. Oscar Isaac is also joining the cast – he’s playing Apocalypse. The X-Men movies always cast such hot dudes, right?

What else is going on with Fassy? Well, after he wraps on X-Men, he’s probably going to finally get around to Assassin’s Creed, although his current girlfriend Alicia Vikander had to drop out – she’s going to cozy up to Matt Damon instead. Do you think Fassy is worried? Um, I don’t think he ever worries about the ladies he dates. I think he’s very love ‘em and leave ‘em. Fassy and Alicia only have to stay together through the promotion of The Light Between Oceans this fall/winter. Do you think they can make it?
