Nothing like father/daughter love. Happy Father’s Day to you, CAJM ????????????. Here is to all the engaged and present fathers, you create a backbone for society. We honor you all today ????????????

By some accounts, Gwyneth Paltrow spent Father’s Day with the father of her children, her ex-husband Chris Martin. It wouldn’t have surprised me at all if we found out that Chris and Goop and their kids were going on another luxury vacation as a family, but it did seem like Gwyneth flew to England last week to be with Chris, and probably bring the kids to him for the holiday. Then they stayed in London throughout the weekend. I’m sort of shocked that Gwyneth didn’t try to drag Chris’s maybe-girlfriend into the process as well.
Anyway, Goop posted the above Instagram with this nice message: “Nothing like father/daughter love. Happy Father’s Day to you, CAJM. Here is to all the engaged and present fathers, you create a backbone for society. We honor you all today.” Are fathers the backbone of society? I’ve heard mothers described that way and I’ve heard the nuclear family described that way, but fathers specifically? I’m nitpicking, I know, but the wording legitimately seemed odd to me. And I guess Moses’ relationship with Chris doesn’t count!
Gwyneth also posted a throwback photo of her dad, the late Bruce Paltrow, with this note: “A friend once said to me right after my father died, ‘everyone has a father, but not everyone has a daddy.’ Brucie, you were both. To say that I miss you is an understatement. Happy Father’s Day to you, wherever you are. You were the best of the best.” She really does miss her dad.
Last thing – many of you didn’t care that there was a report that Gwyneth was dumping her jumpoff/boyfriend Brad Falchuk. Some of you pointed to this blind item about a guy who dumped his girlfriend though, and the blind item sounded a lot like Goop and Brad. Well, long story short, Brad Falchuk was seen out on a date with a “mystery brunette.” Yeah, Brad and Goop are probably over. But did he dump her or did she dump him?

Last Friday, we discussed the tabloid rumor that Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig’s marriage might be falling apart. Star Magazine’s rumors were along the lines of “they haven’t walked a red carpet together in more than a year” and “Daniel might be fooling around.” Notably, I think, Daniel didn’t come to Cannes when Rachel was promoting projects back to back last month. So what’s happening? I have no idea. But Rachel did sit down for a lengthy interview with The Daily Mirror and she ends up discussing her marriage, her husband and much more. You can read the full piece here. Some highlights:
Rachel on her 20s: “I was often single and feeling alone in my 20s. I’d eat pizza at home by myself, rent movies, all the clichés…It was hard sometimes but you hope eventually you’ll find the right partner. When I was younger, I worried about so many things and it was hard for me to feel happy or understand what made me happy. Once you reach your forties, you know where to look.”
On her marriage: “I love to cook. Daniel is also very good at it. We always enjoy trying out different kinds of cuisine and having fun with that.”
She won’t do Botox or plastic surgery: “You have to be realistic about it and not fight it. I don’t worry about wrinkles but I’ve worked on my fitness since Henry was born and I pay more attention to my body than I did when I was younger. But overall, you have to find as many positive things as you can about getting older. Life is much less problematic for me today.”
Her start in modeling: “I enjoyed that time. I earned enough money so that I began feeling much more independent. When you see photos of models in magazines, you would never realise the amount of hours and stress that go into that job. You have to be very disciplined to succeed at it.”
Living in New York with Daniel: “I miss so many things about England. I still feel very English and love the TV and conversation. We have a distinct sense of humour and sprinkle conversation with innuendo and puns. You don’t get that in America!”
Whether she would ever be a Bond girl: “Never!”
[From The Daily Mirror]
You don’t get innuendo and puns in America? Um…don’t get me wrong, I think the British people have a grand tradition of word play and humor as well, but Rachel makes it sound like all Americans are dull and humorless conversationalists. To that I say… BALLS. As for the other stuff… I actually hope that Rachel and Daniel work it out, but I’m getting a vibe that they won’t be lasting a lot longer.

After Colin Farrell and Mark Consuelos delivered thoughtful missives to celebrate Father’s Day, someone had to drop the ball. That person was Charlie Sheen. He spent yesterday trashing Denise Richards for some unknown reason.
Denise has taken so much crap from Charlie over the years. She always deals with him gracefully, which is more than he deserves. Most recently, Denise took care of Charlie’s twin boys with Brooke Mueller when neither parent could care for them. Even though the twins were abusive, Denise said she’d find a way to care for them again. Charlie never (ever) appreciates the good thing he has with Denise. Any time she dares to put her foot down, he requests a child support reduction or kicks Denise out of her home. That’s in addition his other passive-aggressive ways any time Denise refuses to worship him like a god.
Something set Charlie off again. He posted this message to celebrate Father’s Day:

[From Charlie Sheen on Twitlonger]
Those are only the highlights. The full “poem,” which you can read here, goes on to drag Richie Sambora into the argument. He also praised Brooke Mueller, who is “a sexy rok star whom I adore.” (Charlie only said this because Brooke’s fine with all of his behavior as long as the money keeps coming.) I can’t even guess why Charlie was so upset yesterday. He was tweeting live from Mexico instead of spending Father’s Day with his daughters, Sam and Lola. As always, Denise delivered a classy response to Charlie’s rantings.
Happy Dad’s Day! @charliesheen have a great trip in Mexico! Kids were disappointed u weren’t here for it- Hey we’ll celebrate when u r back!

Here are some photos from yesterday’s Berlin premiere of Terminator: Genisys, the Terminator sequel no one really asked for. Emilia Clarke plays the latest incarnation of Sarah Connor for some reason, and of course Arnold Schwarzenegger returned to one of his most popular roles. I’m including photos of Arnold, Emilia, Jai Courtney and Jason Clarke. Emilia wore this Balenciaga Fall 2015 dress which is not very good at all. The top part is fine, but the skirt is so big, she really does look pregnant.
Emilia and Arnold also appeared on The Graham Norton Show over the weekend. I’ve watched a bunch of clips and I kind of enjoy Emilia and Arnold’s chemistry. I know that sounds weird, but it really does seem like they have a lot of affection for each other and to his credit, he’s not being a dirty old man about it. In this clip (below), Graham asks Emilia about Game of Thrones and late husband Khal Drogo. Emilia says that Jason Momoa would always try to get her to laugh during some of the more serious scenes, and during one scene where he needed to wear a nude modesty sock on Lil’ Drogo, Emilia said Jason wore a big fluffy pink sock instead: “It’s huge, and it’s pink, and I don’t know what to do.” Mmm.
And here’s a clip of Emilia and Cara Delevingne having an eyebrown-off. Emilia won! Arnold was the judge.

Last week, Apple announced that they would be launching a free three-month trial period for Apple Music’s streaming service. The problem? Giving users three months of free music meant that for three months, musicians weren’t going to be paid by Apple. Taylor Swift took up the cause, because she’s been very outspoken about the need for streaming companies (like Spotify) to pay artists fairly for their music. Swifty ended up writing an open letter to Apple on her Tumblr, explaining why she would not be allowing Apple to include her album 1989 on Apple’s streaming service. Here’s part of what she wrote (you can read the full piece here):
I write this to explain why I’ll be holding back my album, 1989, from the new streaming service, Apple Music. I feel this deserves an explanation because Apple has been and will continue to be one of my best partners in selling music and creating ways for me to connect with my fans. I respect the company and the truly ingenious minds that have created a legacy based on innovation and pushing the right boundaries.
I’m sure you are aware that Apple Music will be offering a free 3 month trial to anyone who signs up for the service. I’m not sure you know that Apple Music will not be paying writers, producers, or artists for those three months. I find it to be shocking, disappointing, and completely unlike this historically progressive and generous company.
This is not about me. Thankfully I am on my fifth album and can support myself, my band, crew, and entire management team by playing live shows. This is about the new artist or band that has just released their first single and will not be paid for its success. This is about the young songwriter who just got his or her first cut and thought that the royalties from that would get them out of debt. This is about the producer who works tirelessly to innovate and create, just like the innovators and creators at Apple are pioneering in their field…but will not get paid for a quarter of a year’s worth of plays on his or her songs.
These are not the complaints of a spoiled, petulant child. These are the echoed sentiments of every artist, writer and producer in my social circles who are afraid to speak up publicly because we admire and respect Apple so much. We simply do not respect this particular call.
[From Taylor’s Tumblr]
And surprisingly – or perhaps not so much – Taylor is so powerful that with one Tumblr post, she was able to change Apple’s policy. Can you believe that? Apple executive Eddy Cue (senior vice president of internet services and software) tweeted to Swifty: “Apple will always make sure that artist are paid #iTunes #AppleMusic… #AppleMusic will pay artist for streaming, even during customer’s free trial period… We hear you @taylorswift13 and indie artists. Love, Apple.”
Cue also did an interview with Billboard, saying that it was Swifty’s open letter that really changed his mind. Swifty also released a statement, saying: “I am elated and relieved. Thank you for your words of support today. They listened to us.”
For what it’s worth, I don’t think Swifty is being “spoiled and petulant” here. She’s arguably the most powerful woman/person in music today and when it comes to how she handles the business side of her career, I have no shade. Yes, she’s motivated by self-interest and she genuinely wants to be paid, but as she says, most of her money is coming from touring anyway. She’s standing up for herself AND for lesser known artists who need whatever revenue they can find.
