I used to wonder how a superficial narcissist like Gwyneth Paltrow could be the daughter of someone so cool and seemingly reasonably like Blythe Danner. But as I see more of their dynamic and as we hear more from Blythe about her daughter, I’m starting to understand it a little bit more. Blythe was the first person puffing up her daughter. Blythe was the first one telling Gwyneth that everything she did was wonderful, the best, the most amazing and that if anyone ever disagreed, they were just jealous. Jealous of all of Gwyneth’s “accomplishments” (most of which were handed to her on silver platter – how gauche). So, Blythe has a new interview with People Magazine and she literally spends the whole time talking about how Gwyneth is the most amazing person in the world and we’re all just jelly h8rs.

People are overwhelmed Goop: “I just think maybe people are overwhelmed. They can’t understand how people could be so good at so many things. Not only is Gwyneth one of the most brilliant actresses in the world – and I really am hoping she will do more of it when the kids get older – but she is a successful businesswoman and she is a good cook. I think all of that overwhelms some people. I’m really proud of her. She handles herself well.”

She’s happy that Goop & Chris Martin get along: “They are so smart and good as parents. They work hard at it. I am really proud of them. The kids come first. They are terrific.”

On Chris: “He’s a good kid. He’s great. I’m very lucky with all of my in-laws.”

Gwyneth is frisky? “My daughter is also frisky. She likes to say what she wants to say. I think it’s great. That’s one of the things I’m saying about getting older. I feel more liberated. I wasn’t that way when I was younger. I’m glad to see that Gwyneth is strong. She can take it. You have to be thick-skinned to be in our business.”

[From People]

We can debate about Gwyneth’s acting skills – I don’t think she’s the best but she’s actually not the worst – but can we all agree that only Gwyneth’s mother would describe Goop as “one of the most brilliant actresses in the world”? Even in Gwyneth’s heyday (the ‘90s), she was never considered a particularly brilliant actress. As for her successful business… I would like to see the receipts on Goop.com and all of Gwyneth’s business dealings, but the last time I checked (last year), Goop.com was thousands of dollars in debt. But sure, she can cook.

Also: “frisky”? Gwyneth can be opinionated and strong, but “frisky”?

Exclusive... Nicole Trunfio & Family Make A Starbucks Run

Model mom Nicole Trunfio stepped out with fiancé, Grammy Award-winner Gary Clark Jr., and their 4-month-old son Zion on Thursday (June 4).

Sporting a crop top, the new mom, 29, was seen strolling with her family-of-three while making a Starbucks run in West Hollywood, Calif.

The supermodel recently covered Elle Australia‘s June issue while breastfeeding her newborn.

“There is nothing more powerful and beautiful than motherhood,” Trunfio said on social media.

“The last thing I want to do is be controversial, so please take this for what it is, let us #normalizebreastfeeding there is nothing worse than a mother that is judged for feeding her hungry child in public,” she added. “#weareonlyhuman I’m so proud of this cover and for what it’s stands for. I obviously don’t look like this while I am breastfeeding but this stands for all women out there, whether you breastfeed or not, we gave birth, we are women, we are mothers. Thank you to ELLE for being so bold and making such an encouraging, positive and healthy statement.”

For all of you complaining about all of the Kit Harington coverage… shhh!! First of all, I enjoy Sadface McGee and all of his whining, especially about how difficult and terrible it is when people find him attractive. The sadder he gets, the happier I am. Also, he’s been promoting projects back-to-back for more than a month: Game of Thrones, Spooks and Testament of Youth. He’s been in NYC all week doing press for ToY and that’s why we’ve had so much Kit coverage this week specifically. Kit has a new interview in the Wall Street Journal which is mostly about ToY… and poetry, and Game of Thrones. Some highlights:

Getting so many action-oriented roles: “I kind of weirdly fell into being an action hero. I have no f— idea how that happened. You have to remind people that you want to act rather than just run around. If I keep doing my own stunts in too many of those roles then I literally will turn into a stuntman, and that’s not what I got into this for.”

The poetry within ToY: “They were very my type of poems. I’ve written poems in the past—not particularly good ones—but they’ve always been three stanzas, just like his. You know, three stanzas seems to be a very easy way of writing poetry. I love reading poetry out loud.”

ToY is a feminist story: “It’s a film where there is a woman actor playing the out-and-out lead in a day and age when that’s still not very common. And actually it’s a story of feminism, and we’re in a strange way still fighting that fight today.”

On his celebrity & the obsession with his hair: “Mmm, people love talking about my hair… I don’t accept celebrity. I think it’s a really confusing part of this job. You got into this job to play roles to depict characters, and celebrity is an unfortunate side effect of that—for me. I guess I understand why people ask questions about appearance. I understand why, I don’t know why.”

[From the Wall Street Journal]

It’s worth noting that even though Wee Sadface’s previous complaints seem rather peasanty, he’s actually from a very well-to-do, educated background with many aristocratic and royal ties. He was raised in a house that prioritized education, which is where his love of poetry and literature flourished. Does the fact that he loves poetry and reciting poetry make you like Wee Sadface a little bit more?

Oh, and Kit has a new Q&A with Vulture too – he talked about Valyrian steel, and how few people are actually carrying Valyrian steel, then he laughs and says, “Yeah, we’re all f–ked.” You can read the piece here.

These are the first good shots of Alexa Chung and Alexander Skarsgard together since it broke that they’re dating a few months ago. Check them out in New York this week on what appears to be an Instagram date. I don’t know why I find this so funny and awkward. I mean couples take pictures of each…

Official photos of Princess Charlotte to come!

Royal couple Kate Middleton and Prince William are set to christen their newborn daughter this summer.

The service will be held on July 5 at St. Mary Magdalene’s on Queen Elizabeth II’s Sandringham estate — the same church where her late grandmother Princess Diana was baptized, Kensington Palace announces.

The church is located on the Queen’s vast estate in Norfolk, where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have their 10-bedroom home, Anmer Hall.

Just like her big brother Prince George, baby Charlotte will be dressed in a family heirloom.

The ceremony will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, who baptized Prince George in Oct. 2013.

While the service will be private, we’ll be expecting official family portraits. Who could forget these adorable images from Prince George’s ceremony?!

We can’t wait to meet the princess!

Chris Pratt

Chris Pratt covers the July issue of Men’s Health UK to promote Jurassic World. He discusses his body makeover again. Are you tired of hearing about this subject yet? I’m not. Journalists love to ask actresses how they shed baby weight, and Pratt doesn’t seem to mind discussing his own weight struggles. Besides, this is a health and fitness magazine, so it comes with the territory. The magazine’s readers want to hear about how he went from 300 pounds to being ripped. Pratt’s not being obnoxious about his bod. We’re not seeing him preening, shirtless and glistening, like Joe Manganiello does in these features.

Pratt recently discussed the myth of the “happy plump man“ and how he associated being overweight with being funny (like one of his idols, Chris Farley). He covers that territory more here. He also elaborates on his previous claims that losing weight gave him more energy. Pratt reveals the seriousness of other health issues he was suffering. Considering how he ate up to 4 cheeseburgers in one sitting, I can see why he felt so awful inside:

Why he was unhappy: “I was impotent, fatigued, emotionally depressed. I had real health issues that were affecting me in a major way. It’s bad for your heart, your skin, your system, your spirit.”

His “happy plump man” complex: “I saw myself in an episode [of Parks and Rec] and in the matter of two moments very close together, I thought, ‘Oh my God, I’m getting fat.’ And then almost immediately I did something else and I thought, ‘Holy crap, I’ve never seen myself funnier.’ And I put the two together. I said to the creators that I wanted to get fatter for the role. They loved it. I announced it to the whole cast, and then it became a bit of a game: how fat can I get and how fast can I get that fat. I would eat three or four cheeseburgers at every table read [of a script].”

His turning point: “I’d gone back and forth, lost weight for Moneyball, got fat again, then trimmed down for Zero Dark Thirty, then gained it all back again for Andy. That’s when I saw Zero Dark Thirty and right after walking out I was like: ‘I’m going to get in shape and I’m never going to be fat again.’”

[From Men’s Health]

It makes sense that Pratt would make a final turn in perspective after seeing himself onscreen in ZDT. Marvel added to the pressure by sending a not-so-subtle fat inspector to Pratt’s home to check on his progress. That had to be rough. Even though Pratt wanted to lose the weight, having someone check on him must have been an indignity. Or perhaps he saw it as an added incentive, I don’t know. Pratt holds a rather unique male perspective on a topic that many women can identify with. It would be annoying if he humblebragged, but he’s telling it straight. And Pratt looks good.

The second part of Megyn Kelly’s exclusive interview with the Duggars airs tonight on Fox News at 9 pm. I’m already prepared to hate-watch it and yes, I’ll probably be live-tweeting it too, like I did on Wednesday night. Tonight’s interview will mostly be with Jessa and Jill Duggar, the two oldest (that we know of) victims of Josh Duggar’s molestation. As I said yesterday, Jessa and Jill “outed” themselves as Josh’s victims when they signed on to this Fox News interview – before that moment, media outlets had shown restraint in not getting into specifics about the victims, and In Touch Weekly had redacted their names in their reporting. Ahead of the interview airing tonight, Megyn Kelly sat down with Extra to give a preview of her exclusive (you can see the video here). Kelly says that Jill and Jessa have forgiven Josh:

Megyn on Jill & Jessa’s state of mind: “They started off as your normal 22, 24-year-old girls, a little bubbly, kinda giggly, and then when we did get into it the tears started to flow… imagine how painful that would be… they never chose to have this piece of their family story put out there, and I think they are struggling with what people are assuming about their family and about what happened to them.”

Whether Megyn thinks they have forgiven their brother: “I do, yeah I do. They told me that. They also talked about the journey from the pain to the forgiveness, and it was not without some bumps in the road. All of the children went through counseling, all of them, not just Josh, not just the victims, all of them went through licensed therapist counseling to try to get through what happened.”

Megyn hopes to talk to Josh: “Of course, I would love to talk to Josh, he’s really the best one to talk about what happened and why, and where he is today. I think that is what a lot of people are wondering. Does this make him a child molester? Do you have to worry about him on an ongoing basis? He has three young children and one on the way. He’s around a lot of young children.”

[From Extra]

Props to Megyn for ending that interview on such a dark, hard note. That’s been largely unspoken in all of these stories – Josh is a parent with three young children (and another on the way). It’s so sick and horrific to even think about what the situation could be.

As for Jessa and Jill and their forgiveness… it feels like they’ve been brainwashed over a lifetime of crappy parenting and the “normalization” of terrible behavior from their parents and their brother. As I said in the earlier In Touch post, it feels like there’s still another shoe to drop. I don’t believe the family – especially the victims of Josh’s criminal acts – were given the psychological support needed to deal with everything appropriately. I believe – given the ongoing reporting and the pick-the-lie-you-want-to-believe stories coming from the Duggars – that the family likely went into some hokey super-religious counseling in which the victims were blamed for somehow causing the abuse.

After the back-to-back highs of Avengers: Age of Ultron and Mad Max: Fury Road, I’m kind of in a blockbuster hangover zone where I’ve lost interest in seeing more blockbusters. Like despite Chris Pratt’s charm offensive, Jurassic World is off my radar entirely. But a new trailer for Mission: Impo…
