Magic Mike XXL is out on July 1, and they’re gearing up promotion for the film, which shouldn’t need any. The first Magic Mike film did a healthy $114 million on a $7 million production budget. Women will go see this film, and I for one don’t care much about the plot.

A small screening of the movie was recently held for some very lucky fans. (Video is above) The audience was given a brief survey ahead of time by an awkward, old and balding “market researcher.” They were asked questions like “which was the best actor?” (“Matthew McConaughey”) and “which part of the movie would you like to see in 3d?” (“Pelvic thrusting,” and “full frontal.”)

They were also told that the movie would be “3D”. It turned out that the 3D part just referred to a bunch of buff strippers that gave the women lap dances. Then the “market researcher” came out, showed off some slick moves and gave a lucky woman in the front row a lap dance too. Unfortunately the guy never took off his shirt, but he did take off his wig and beard, revealing that he was Channing Tatum. The ladies went wild.

This stunt was for a good cause. It was meant to promote a new sweepstakes by Omaze raising money for The Runa Foundation, which helps the indigenous people of the Amazonian rain forest through sustainable businesses and farming cooperatives. The winner of the Omaze sweepstakes will get a spa day followed by VIP access to the red carpet premiere of Magic Mike XXL as well as the after party. Odds are based on the amount donated and you can learn more here.

I’ve watched that Omaze video about five times now. I think it’s time to watch the trailer again. Damn.

In the wake of the Duggar awfulness, several things happened all at once. One, people pointed out the utter, contemptible hypocrisy of their politics, which included Michelle Duggar’s 2014 robocalls equating trans people to pedophiles. Two, the Duggars’ big political cheerleader Mike Huckabee came out and publicly defended them, Josh specifically, without even saying even some cursory words of support to Josh’s many victims. Well, Buzzfeed and other outlets got their hands on a speech Mike Huckabee made just a few months ago (at the 2015 National Religious Broadcasters Convention in Nashville) in which he goes full-tilt against trans individuals. You can see some of the video here. Some selected comments from Huckabee:

“For those who do not think that we are under threat, simply recognize that the fact that we are now in city after city watching ordinances say that your 7-year-old daughter, if she goes into the restroom cannot be offended and you can’t be offended if she’s greeted there by a 42-year-old man who feels more like a woman than he does a man.”

“Now I wish that someone told me that when I was in high school that I could have felt like a woman when it came time to take showers in PE,” said Huckabee. “I’m pretty sure that I would have found my feminine side and said, ‘Coach, I think I’d rather shower with the girls today.’ You’re laughing because it sounds so ridiculous, doesn’t it?”

“And yet today we are the ones who are ridiculed and scorned because we point out the obvious,” he said.

“That there is something inherently wrong about forcing little children to be a part of this social experiment. I’m not against anybody. I’d just like for somebody to bring their brain to work some day and not leave it on the bed stand when they show up to govern.”

[From Buzzfeed]

Some of the less arch-conservative members of the GOP realize that these kinds of “social issues” are no longer the vote-getters they once were. Ten years ago, Huckabee could have spewed this crap and it would have been where half the country was politically. But just on a political level, this doesn’t fly like it used to. Add to that the fact of Huckabee’s blatant and Duggar-specific hypocrisy, and it’s just pathetic. It’s like he’s very much making a conscious choice to support an admitted and confessed pedophile with multiple victims… while at the same time insinuating that children are going to be somehow “hurt” if society treats trans people with respect and dignity.

And Huckabee’s son tortured and killed a dog. So that speaks to Huckabee’s parenting, I’m pretty sure.

I’ve gone from not really caring about Ellie Goulding’s music to being actively annoyed by her voice in the past year. I think it was that song she did for the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack that finally did it for me: that song is crazy-annoying and Ellie’s voice grates on my last nerve. If Ellie is your jam, more power to you. But I’m not into it. Anyway, Ellie covers the new issue of Elle UK and she ends up talking about a tabloid story that’s been out there for more than a year: that she is the subject of Ed Sheeran’s slam-song “Don’t”. Sheeran seemingly confirmed that he was sort of dating Ellie but then she cheated on with Niall Horan. Ellie says it’s not true (Sheeran has said it’s not true as well and that it was made up by a UK paper). Some highlights:

The Ed Sheeran-Niall Horan thing: “I did go on a few dates with Niall, but I was never in a relationship with Ed. I have absolutely no idea where that came from and why it was turned into such a big thing.”

The Taylor Swift complaint: “I find it so frustrating that female musicians are constantly defined by the men they have or haven’t dated. It’s something I’ve talked about with Taylor a lot. She definitely feels that. She gets bothered by it. It’s like, you can be a great artist, you can write great songs, but the thing that everyone is going to talk about is some relationship they think you have had or not had. It’s definitely something we both think happens to female artists over male artists.’ ”

Her current boyfriend Dougie Poynter: “He is definitely the one forever. He’s been through a lot, and he has a quiet depth that I love. And you know what, when I was a teenager, I fancied him, but I thought he was out of my league. Way too good-looking for me….Calvin Harris has already offered to play at our wedding. Not that we’ve organized one. But the offer has been made.”

She was never confidant: “When I started out, I couldn’t cope with it. I felt embarrassed by it. I didn’t quite know who I was supposed to be. I was never confident in my looks. I hated my chin, my nose, my eyebrows. I was told by people at my record company to watch videos of other girls, like Little Boots, and Elly Jackson from La Roux, and try and look like them. I had panic attacks so bad I couldn’t leave my flat; I couldn’t bear people looking at me. I would worry that I would never be able to sing because I couldn’t even get up. I was also horribly ashamed of myself because I felt like some sort of drama queen and all I wanted to be was strong.”

[From People & E! News]

So if “Don’t” isn’t about Ellie and Niall, who is it about? That’s the real question. Ellie fit into the theory really well, although my initiation reading of the song was that it was about… Rita Ora. Because that fits as well, especially since Rita apparently cheats on every boyfriend she ever has.

As for Ellie’s Taylor Swift-specific complaints… besides the Ed Sheeran gossip, which was mostly about Ed not Ellie, I couldn’t care less about who she’s dating. Unless a pop star is dating someone really gossip-worthy or scandalous, who cares? That’s the thing, though – they want you to care. That’s why Tay-Tay is dating the richest DJ/producer in the world, a man with his own high-profile dating drama. That’s why these pop stars air their dirty laundry for the world to see. That’s why they write thinly veiled blind-item songs about their high-profile loves. It’s all because they don’t want you to pay attention to them, right?

'Love & Mercy' Los Angeles Premiere

The Bold and the Beautiful alum Lorenzo Lamas-Craig and his expectant wife, Shawna Craig, struck a pregnant pose at the premiere of Love & Mercy at the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre in Beverly Hills, Calif. on Tuesday (June 2).

The soap star, 57, is seen cradling his wife’s baby bump at the L.A. event. Shawna, 28, is currently a surrogate for Lorenzo’s daughter, The Bachelor alum Shayne Lamas.

In Feb., Shayne, 29, and her husband Nik Richie revealed the surrogacy news.

“Shawna’s not just my stepmother, she’s like a soul sister,” Shayne shared.

Shawna, who is the fifth wife of Shayne’s father is “an angel that blessed my whole family, including my father.”

Last year, Shayne lost a baby boy at 20 weeks after a rare uterine rupture. After finding out she could no longer have children, she looked into surrogacy.

“I’m ecstatic to be pregnant. It’s the best thing in the world,” Shawna, due to give birth to a baby boy on July 10, shares.

While she admits it’s a bit “weird,” Shayne is extremely grateful to her stepmother.

“It is weird. Somebody else carrying your baby is weird,” Shayne shares. “But I lost my son, and now Shawna is carrying my son. I have just been given the biggest blessing in the whole world and I will always be grateful.”

The baby boy will join big sister Press Dahl, 3.

In Touch Weekly is following up their exclusive Duggar Family reporting, because apparently their Freedom of Information requests are the terrible, horrific gifts that keep on giving. As we’ve learned over the past few weeks, Josh molested at least five minor girls (that we know of). He confessed to that to his father and at least partially confessed to one family friend, a state trooper who is currently in jail for child p0rn. This week’s In Touch cover story covers a wide range of information, some of which I’m assuming will be parceled out in the next day or two. Here’s the first part of this week’s cover story: chilling details about Josh’s systematic molestation of his sisters and a family friend.

Josh Duggar confessed to his father Jim Bob Duggar on THREE separate occasions to multiple acts of sexual molestation against his sisters and a family friend, according to a new police report obtained exclusively by In Touch magazine. The document also makes clear that Josh was 15 years old when he molested his 5-year-old sister and committed at least SEVEN acts of sexual molestation.

The new report is from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and was obtained by In Touch using the Freedom of Information Act. In Touch broke the story about Josh’s dark past and previously obtained and published a Springdale Police Department report about the molestations, also by using FOIA.

With fewer redactions than the first report, the Washington County Sheriff’s document makes it clear that despite Josh’s chilling confessions the Duggars waited at least 16 months before contacting authorities about the molestations, even though the behavior was continuing and growing worse. During that period they did not get professional counseling for Josh or his victims. Legal experts tell In Touch that Jim Bob and Michelle could have faced six years in prison for their inaction, if the statue of limitations had not expired.

“James said that in March of 2002 [redacted, Josh] who had just turned 14, came to him very upset and crying,” the new report reads. “James said that [redacted, Josh] had told him that he had been sneaking into [redacted, his sisters’] room at night and had been touching [redacted, his sisters] on the breasts and vaginal areas while they were sleeping.”

The report details that Josh went from sister to sister, stating, “Apparently all of the girls were sleeping in a common room at this time.”

The sheriff’s document also shows the extent of Josh’s abuse. “[Redacted, Josh] told James that this had occurred 4 to 5 times and had occurred as [redacted] was sleeping on the couch.”

As In Touch reports exclusively in its new issue, despite Josh’s confession, Jim Bob and Michelle did not get him – or their daughters — counseling from a licensed mental health professional for at least 16 months. They have said the children did receive counseling but refuse to say if it was court ordered after the Families In Need of Services and the Arkansas Department of Human Services became involved in the Duggar case.

Several legal experts tell In Touch that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar could have faced up to six years in prison for their actions and been charged with Permitting Abuse of a Minor (Arkansas Code 5-27-221). The new police report continues to raise questions about why Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar failed to act in alerting authorities despite Josh’s repeated confessions of sexual molestation and why they didn’t do more to protect their daughters.

By the time police launched their investigation in 2006, the statute of limitations had expired and police turned the matter over to social services. The Duggars did eventually take Josh to a state trooper Joseph Hutchens. But Hutchens, who is serving 56 years in prison, said in an interview from behind bars that Jim Bob and Josh told him about only one incident and that’s why he didn’t report it to the child abuse hotline. The new police report states only that Jim Bob said when they visited Hutchens Josh “had admitted to Cpl Hutchins (sic) what he had done.” The police did not independently verify that. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office turned their investigation over to Springdale police for jurisdiction reasons.

[From In Touch Weekly]

So Josh didn’t even go to his parents. James went to their parents and told them about Josh. And Michelle and Jim-Bob just sat on their hands and let the abuse escalate over the course of a year (at least). I don’t have much to say about this ongoing horror show at this point. It just makes me sad – sad that the Duggar daughters went through all of it, sad that their parents didn’t seem to care (and still don’t), sad that Josh Duggar will never see the inside of a jail cell.

The Duggars’ interview airs tonight. I’m sure it will be rage-stroke-inducing. I might need to get some alcoholic beverages to get through it.

You know that famous scene in Sex and the City (the TV show) when Carrie Bradshaw breaks out in stress hives because she lacks The Bride Gene? That’s how I’ve felt about weddings for a really long time now. I enjoy looking at wedding photos. I enjoy wedding cake (any type of cake, honestly). I enjoy judging your wedding gown. But I’m missing The Bride Gene. I just… don’t care. Personally, I don’t care. And I’m fine with that. I always sort of assumed Sarah Jessica Parker didn’t care that much either – after all, she famously married Matthew Broderick wearing what looked like a black 1980s prom dress. But I forgot that SJP is shilling her own label now, and she’s just started selling bridal shoes. Thus, she covers the new issue of Martha Stewart Weddings. In the cover story, SJP gives ladies some wedding tips!

Her new dream wedding gown: “If I were getting married today, I’d likely wear cream, just to have that bridal experience. Now I would want my dress to have an Oscar de la Renta feel, pockets below the waist, a very fitted bodice, a huge skirt, in taffeta or duchesse satin. That silhouette appeals to me because it’s old-fashioned yet can look very modern.”

Something borrowed, something blue: “At my wedding, my shoes were teal velvet Robert Clergerie. I borrowed a handkerchief, someone gave me an old coin, and the dress was new, so I covered all my bases.”

Bridesmaids shouldn’t complain about their dresses: “It’s incumbent upon anyone who is included in a bridal party to wear what the bride wants—to make it work and not complain. It’s the couple’s day, and it’s an honor to be part of it.”

Choose flowers that have personal significance: “Personally, I love gardenias so, so much, and also lilies of the valley, because they are two of my mother’s favorites. When I was a kid living in Cincinnati, we grew lilies of the valley in the yard. Now, in summer, our house is filled with bouquets of wildflowers my daughters pick. At a wedding, people might strive for a more formal feeling, but a lot of the rules can be broken today. ‘Formal’ could be a handful of carnations, beautiful and simple.”

Stay loose: “Many couples don’t get to experience their own wedding; they’re making the rounds, trying to say hello and thank people. That’s understandable, but also step back at times and focus on what you see. I think it’s nice when there are children running around with their bows untied and hair disheveled. It relaxes and touches people.”

[From Martha Stewart Weddings]

CARNATIONS?!?!? Those are filler flowers!! God, I need to stop quoting SATC. As for SJP’s wedding advice… it sounds pretty normal to me. She’s not saying anything groundbreaking although I side-eye some of her personal preferences, especially her ideal wedding gown. The way SJP describes her current ideal gown just seems so basic and boring. Granted, she’s NOT Carrie Bradshaw and I would hate for her ideal to be that Vivienne Westwood monstrosity she wore in SATC (the first movie). Oh, and if I ever get married (I won’t), little kids will be banned. Tweens are fine, teens are fine. But little kids and babies? Nope.

If you’d like to see photos of SJP’s new bridal shoe line, go here.

Vanity Fair is doing a good job parceling out their Caitlyn Jenner exclusive cover story, and Caitlyn’s big debut really has blown everything else out of the gossip water this week. If some celebrity needs to go to rehab or a high-profile couple needs to announce their split, this might be the week for them to fly under the radar. But if a celebrity was actually trying to rollout another story in a splashy, look-at-me way, well… Caitlyn just stole your thunder. Even though the thunder belongs to Caitlyn’s stepdaughter, Kim Kardashian. Sources tell Radar that Kim asked Caitlyn to hold the VF release so Kim could have a moment with her pregnancy announcement. Too bad.

A source close to the family tells Radar exclusively, “Kris and other family members asked Caitlyn to hold the Vanity Fair cover and her big reveal until after Kim’s pregnancy got the proper publicity, but she refused to do so! Caitlyn said that she was not going to stand to the side anymore and that her days of doing what they wanted her to do are officially over.”

“Kim is a little bummed because she supported this transition so much more than the rest of the family and feels that she was owed the proper respect of holding it off for a couple more days,” the insider tells Radar. “But Caitlyn knew that if she did not do this, it would leak and that is the last thing that she wanted.”

[From Radar]

Even if this is true – that Kim asked Caitlyn to hold the VF release – it really wasn’t Caitlyn’s call at that point. Vanity Fair releases this stuff on a schedule, and all of this was planned out on an editorial level for MONTHS. Granted, Kim also planned her pregnancy rollout for months, so all this proves is that Caitlyn and Kim really weren’t sharing their plans.

What else? Honestly, we’re not even 72 hours past the initial VF cover release and I’m already overwhelmed by all of the information. VF released more excerpts here – Caitlyn talks about how she’s nicer than Bruce, how moved she’s been by reading all of her fan mail after the Diane Sawyer interview, how she felt like doing the Vanity Fair shoot was much better than winning an Olympic gold medal. There’s also this part, on how she decided on her name:

“It’s one of the hardest things in life—choosing your own name,” Jenner said. One way she attempted to come up with ideas was by watching the Miss America pageant. She’d survey some of the contestants to get ideas and see if any of them fit. She also liked the names Heather or Cathy. But Caitlyn also stuck out prominently in her mind. When her assistant, Rhonda, at one point independently suggested Caitlyn, Jenner said, “I love that name, too!” The coincidence helped seal the deal.

With the name itself set, Jenner went back and forth about how it would be spelled, between “k” and “c” as the first letter—no small task in the Jenner/Kardashian family, with its trademark “k” names. Finally, she decided it was best to break tradition, and the media associations that went with it. She settled on “c.”

[From Vanity Fair]

I understand the idea of differentiating herself from the K-Klan, but I think it’s a cheat to still use a K-sound name. I mean, “Heather Jenner” would have been a cleaner break, you know? Caitlyn-with-a-C still sounds like Kaitlyn-with-a-K.

And finally, you can see the promo for Caitlyn’s new E! series here.

kim-kardashian-energy-drink-1

An expectant Kim Kardashian attended the Hype Energy Drinks U.S. Launch on Tuesday (June 2) in Nashville, Tenn.

At three months along, the mom-to-be, 34, rocked a flesh-colored pleather sheath with a plunging neckline and stilettos.

“I hate the way I look in flats but heels can be hard during pregnancy,” the KUWTK star told PEOPLE at the event. “I’m already thinking, ‘What am I going to do?’ That’s the hardest thing in pregnancy when it comes to style.’ ”

The reality star also talked about staying healthy during her second pregnancy.

“I’m not looking to keep up that pre-pregnancy energy level this time. I think you need to go with being tired, with what your body tells you, and rest when you need to. I’m at that stage of pregnancy where everything is making me sick, even just the smell of things,” Kim shared. “But once I get past that, I’m really going to try to enjoy this pregnancy more and relax with it. And skip the donuts! With my first pregnancy I had a donut every morning. That’s not a good idea. I feel like I’m eating much healthier this time.”

According to a source, Kim and her husband Kanye West – who are already parents to 23-month-old daughter North – used in vitro fertilization to conceive this time around.

“Kim also had three surgeries to repair her uterus,” the insider told PEOPLE. “The inner lining had been so damaged that she was told conceiving on her own wasn’t possible.”

Reportedly, the reality star had IVF treatment with hormones four months ago, which didn’t take.

The next month, the couple conceived using IVF, but on Kim’s natural cycle, without hormones.

Here are some photos of Kit Harington walking around Tribeca yesterday. I think we should give Kit a slow clap for wearing somewhat regular jeans here. Those skinny jeans he wore the other day gave me nightmares. His tiny little body looked like it was suffocating from the waist down! At least he’s giving his junk room to breathe in these jeans, although they’re still pretty fitted. Kit’s been in NYC this week promoting Testament of Youth, but he’s also been doing interviews about Game of Thrones, of course. He ended up dropping some interesting pieces of GoT gossip while he chatted with HuffPo this week:

His Night’s Watch cloak/cape: “That cloak hasn’t been washed in five years. It smells like a wet dog. None of the clothes have properly been washed in five years, which is authentic.”

On Sunday’s episode: “I loved last night’s episode. I hoped it would live up to the month we spent filming it. That 20-minute sequence took a month. I hoped it worked and seeing the final thing, I thought it was great. Some of the fondest memories I have of Thrones are of that month.”

Spending a month in “cold and wet” conditions: “All the money on ‘Thrones’ is spent on the actual sequence or finishing the thing. None of it’s spent on the actors’ luxury. So we had this tiny cast tent with a river running through it, which is fine. You just muck in with ‘Thrones.’ It was great.”

On Jon Snow: “He’s more of your classic hero, I guess. He’s got his problems. He’s always been a slow-burner… What’s really intriguing for me this season is getting to break out of that younger self and becoming a man. Jon’s wiser than me. I wouldn’t be able to do many of the things Jon’s been resisting. He has more of a sense of duty that many modern men have.”

GoT theories: “It’s all is true! I don’t know. I love hearing the theories, but there are three men who seemingly know what’s going to happen: George, David [Benioff], and D.B. [Weiss]. They are so tight-lipped.”

No one is safe: “I think that’s the thrilling thing about the TV show, is that we really don’t fit by the norms and people are in danger and horrible things do happen to people and we don’t shy away from that. You can’t count on Jon Snow being safe or Tyrion being safe or anyone being safe, so it keeps people on the edge of their seat, and it’s why it’s good drama.”

[From HuffPo & Us Weekly]

Bless his heart. Between the moaning about how “none” of the money is spent on actors’ luxuries and saying that his costume smells like a wet dog, this is an excellent episode of Celebitchy Presents: Kit Harington Says Words.”

This is just a minor SPOILER – Kit also told HuffPo that the last two episodes of this season are “really big” and they involve “some huge shocks and some huge set pieces — it’s going to be epic.” OHMYGAWDDDDDDDDDD.
