The earlier Josh Duggar post was full of information that broke over the course of Thursday, and there were so many stories, the timeline of horror sort of got lost. Josh Duggar began molesting girls in 2002 and 2003, when he was 13, 14 and 15 years old. Jim-Bob Duggar learned about this in 2002 when a “minor female” (like one of his daughters) came to him and said Josh had been molesting her at night. The Duggar parents did not alert authorities and Jim-Bob did not “turn in his son.” Jim-Bob did take Josh to a friendly cop in 2003 (following more incidents of Josh molesting girls) and the cop told Josh it would be fine and that was the cop who later went to jail for child p0rn. The official police investigation wasn’t started until 2006 and that was because Oprah’s Harpo Studios got the ball rolling. Just FYI, in case anyone was confused about the timeline.
So, what’s new? As I said in the previous post, Josh resigned from his position as Executive Director for the ultra-conservative and ultra-right-wing Family Research Council. The FRC’s raison d’être is heterosexual two-parent families, plus no abortion or reproductive rights whatsoever. Josh’s position with FRC has made him a lot of contacts in the deepest Republican circles. And a lot of those Republicans are now going to have to back away from the Duggars? That should be fascinating. In any case, People got their hands on Duggar’s resignation letter from the FRC and see if you notice anything interesting:
I deeply regret that recent media reports about my long ago past has brought negative attention to FRC Action and its work to preserve and advance the interests of family, faith, and freedom in the political arena.
FRC Action’s mission to fortify the traditional foundations of civil society is more important now than ever before, and I’m heartbroken that any attention has been diverted from these noble causes to my wrong actions as a young teenager. I am so thankful for God’s grace, forgiveness and redemptive heart that allowed me to transform into a man of faith and testimony.
In good faith I cannot allow Family Research Council to be impacted by mistakes I made as a teenager, so I am resigning as Executive Director of FRC Action. I will continue to pray for the advancements of the causes we believe in and I hope that in the days ahead you will pray for me and Anna as we seek God to discover the next chapter of our lives in His service.
Sincerely,
Joshua Duggar
[From People]
Why should anyone pray for Josh Duggar? Why not pray for the multiple girls he molested? In no space of all of the Duggars’ letters and statements has there been any concern for the victims of these crimes. And the language Josh uses is that of a self-pitying psycho who doesn’t understand that HE is not the victim here. People Mag also published the resignation-acceptance letter from the FRC, which brings up another point: surely an admission of multiple counts of child molestation is reason enough to be FIRED, right? Why was Josh able to “resign”? This is a perfect case of needing to be fired for cause.
As for the questions of what TLC knew and when… I don’t know. If Harpo Studios got one anonymous email and they managed to follow through on it, what are the chances that TLC also got some anonymous emails? TMZ also reports that Mama June Shannon is pissed off that TLC came down so hard on her (they canceled Here Comes Honey Boo Boo following June’s relationship with a convicted pedophile) while simultaneously backing a family with a serial child molester as one of the reality show “leads.” I’m not going to get into an argument over who is the worst person, June or Josh. Let’s just say they’re both pretty disgusting people and neither of them should be a part of a reality show.

Early this month, Kelly Rutherford started a White House Petition urging President Obama to somehow bring her children back from Monaco, where they have lived since 2012 with their father, Daniel Giersch, a German citizen, and their paternal grandmother. Rutherford and Giersch’s children, Hermes, 8, and Helena, 5, see their mother every few weeks – when she is flown to visit them on Giersch’s dime – and over the summer. Rutherford’s many attempts to have the custody ruling overthrown have failed, including on the federal level.
Rutherford’s flawed argument both in the WH petition and in her overturned federal case was that her children have been deported and that their rights as US Citizens are being denied. She repeated these claims in a bizarre interview on TMZ live last week, stating that “whoever brings my kids home is going to be pretty much a hero. I mean they’re going to be doing the right thing for children, for citizens of America. It’s a very pro-America thing to do..”
Throughout Kelly’s ongoing and attacking statements to the press, her ex has remained admirably quiet. Giersch has finally responded through his lawyer and he states that he’s concerned for the children’s safety. He’s also blocked Kelly from seeing the children until she turns over their US passports to a neutral third party. This seems perfectly reasonable, Giersch’s lawyer states that it’s part of the custody agreement, and the children can still visit the US as German citizens, they’re just limited to a 90 day visit. Kelly arrived in Monaco yesterday, Thursday, and Giersh’s lawyer tells the NY Daily News that “We are concerned that the children are in imminent danger and need to be protected, and as a result the school and the police have extra security measures.” I don’t blame them, given everything Kelly has said. Here is the relevant part of the News’ report:
We’re told Rutherford arrived in Monaco… on Thursday. But [Giersch] whom she divorced in 2010 after a four-year marriage, refused to hand off the kids until she coughed up their papers.
In an interview with Confidenti@l, Giersch’s lawyer, Fahi Takesh Hallin, confirmed the development.
“We are concerned that the children are in imminent danger and need to be protected, and as a result the school and the police have extra security measures, which they have anyway at this time because of the Grand Prix in Monaco and the Cannes Film Festival,” she said.
“Daniel is requesting per the terms of the California judgment that a neutral party hold the children’s passports while mother (Rutherford) has custody of the children abroad,” she added, “and that is simply carrying out the terms of the California order, and is also a very neutral thing because of the very deep concern given the statement that she made.”
The actress appeared on “TMZ Live” May 13 and said, “I think that, you know, whoever brings my kids home is going to be pretty much of a hero.”
Giersch responded Thursday with a statement from Takesh Hallin saying, “Her statement that anyone who brings the parties’ children back to the United States in violation of the custody orders would be considered an American hero is not only false, as this would be an illegal and criminal act, but it creates a very real and present risk for the children’s safety.”
A source close to Rutherford told us, “There’s no order against Kelly talking about her case. She has followed all of the court orders. Daniel is upset that the truth is coming out.”
“This is to distract from the fact that he still hasn’t applied for a visa and all of the orders he has ignored in both California and Monaco,” added the insider. “The California order says California would retain jurisdiction, but he asked Monaco to take jurisdiction.”
In 2012, Giersch, a German citizen, argued he could not enter the States because his work visa had been revoked, and successfully petitioned California Superior Court Judge Teresa Beaudet to let him take their children to live in Monaco. Rutherford has visited them about 70 times.
You know how I feel about this. I feel sorry for the kids, not because they’re living in Monaco with their dad and Oma, but because their mom isn’t co-parenting reasonably. It’s understandable that Giersch is requesting that Rutherford turn over the children’s US passports to a neutral party, that seems like a necessary safeguard against having the children kept in the US indefinitely. Remember, Kelly filed an emergency custody petition last summer to keep the children with her in the US (which failed), and she threatened to do so against court orders, although she didn’t follow through. She recently claimed that her ex has filed a case in Monaco to strip her of parental rights. Given all the many ways she’s attempted to do that to him – by having him deported, but threatening to keep the children – it seems more reactionary than vindictive on his part. I’m interested to see if Kelly is eventually allowed to bring the children with her to the US for the summer. I bet she will be able to despite everything she’s said. I’m also interested to see how this case turns out.
Oh and Kelly started a crowdrise campaign to raise money for her legal expenses, but she’s since deleted the page. You can still contribute to her “Children’s Justice Campaign.” Because a woman who can throw fundraising parties attended by celebrities needs strangers over the Internet to give her money.
Note: Several outlets are running a photo of Kelly purportedly with Giersch in 2010. I don’t think that other guy (photo on E! and NY Daily News) is actually Giersch but maybe he got surgery or something.
After dance class with her sister Kim Kardashian and niece North West, reality star Kourtney Kardashian stepped out with Scott Disick and their daughter Penelope, 2 1/2.
The mom-of-three, 36, toted her tot at Coffee Bean in Tarzana, Calif. on Thursday (May 21), where she met up with her longtime love for an iced tea. Penelope looked pretty in her pink ensemble, while Kourtney kept it casual in a black outfit and shades.
Last weekend, Kourtney posted a photo of her 5-month-old son Reign.
Kourtney and Scott are also parents to 5-year-old son Mason.
ICYMI, check out the pics of North, Penelope, Kourtney and Kim at dance class in Tarzana.

Kelly Clarkson has an excellent new interview with Rolling Stone. I’ve been enjoying Kelly so much this year! I’ll admit it, she used to annoy me a little bit, but I feel like her overwhelming positivity and far-reaching love and tolerance is especially welcome these days. In this RS interview, Kelly talks about Jane Austen, the lawsuit against Robin Thicke and Pharrell, marijuana and so much more. Some highlights:
Her “Heartbreak Song” sounds like Jimmy Eat World’s “The Middle”: “I didn’t write the song, I just sang it. But I didn’t catch that. Nobody behind the scenes did. What’s funny is that I was a huge fan of that Jimmy Eat World album! We actually thought our song sounded like the Postal Service – that was our big concern. I thought it was really cool of Jimmy Eat World to say, “Hey, no harm, no foul.” There are only so many chords. I felt so bad for Pharrell when he got sued – he’s a huge fan of Marvin Gaye, and you know he didn’t mean to rip him off. And he’s the sweetest guy ever. It sucks.
She’s pro-legalization of marijuana: “I’m not even a pothead, I just think it’s funny that we legalize something as destructive as alcohol or pills and not that. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some alcohol, but I don’t know anybody in rehab because of pot. And I know a ton of people that have died either from liver cancer or behind the wheel. We legalize things that are so disturbing for our bodies, but one that’s completely fine, we say, “No, that’s bad for you.” I’m like, “Okay, enjoy your scotch. Enjoy your Xanax.”
Her favorite Jane Austen character: “That is hard! Persuasion is my favorite book, but my favorite character – I’m going to be so cliché right now and say Elizabeth Bennet, even though Pride and Prejudice is not my favorite. I like her boldness. But my favorite character from a book is Jane Eyre, actually. She’s thrown every hurdle known to man – she was never shown love, she was thrown into that orphanage, she was fighting just to exist, and then she ends up falling in love with this tortured guy. And I love that she never caved or succumbed to a dark side. When you’re thrown into the worst parts of your life, that’s what really shows your character.
Putting a woman on the $20 bill: “Oh, Lord. I love that idea. We should probably put Oprah. I feel a little bad about taking someone else off, though. That’s kind of the worst slap in the face. Andrew Jackson is somewhere really pissed off.
She’s a Hillary Clinton fan: “I’m a fan of Hillary. She’s badass. I don’t just want a woman to win, I want the right person. And I think she’s also that.
She has a new line of greeting cards: “Well, they’re all based on humor. I like a good laugh. Even if you’re sad or it’s a birthday card or a sweet one for your mom, it can still be funny. My sense of humor is a little crass. I’m a little white-trash and a little class.”
[From Rolling Stone]
Ha, I think she’s joking about putting Oprah on the $20 bill. If we do get a woman on the $20, it would probably be Harriet Tubman (apologies to Raven-Symone), Rosa Parks or maybe…? I don’t know, Elizabeth Cady Stanton? Also, I have nerd-rage about Elizabeth Bennet as her favorite Austen heroine!! At least she says Persuasion is her favorite Austen book overall.

Last August, Star Magazine ran a fascinating cover story about Gwyneth Paltrow’s then very-quiet relationship with Brad Falchuk. Since then, Gwyneth and Brad have gone public and he’s generally considered to be her “official boyfriend.” But the details of just when they first got together are… sketchy. At best.
Let me tell you what I believe. I believe that Gwyneth met Brad Falchuk when she guest-starred on Glee. He was an attractive and married producer on Glee. At some point, while they were both still very much married to other people, Gwyneth and Brad began to have an affair – Star says now that Brad and his wife split two years ago, so let’s say that Gwyneth and Brad’s affair began two years ago (because that is a very safe assumption). Maybe it was super-casual, maybe both of their spouses knew about it, I have no idea. I believe Gwyneth and Chris Martin had an open marriage, but it wasn’t until Chris wanted out (to pursue greener pastures) that they finally consciously uncoupled. That Star story last August was a suggestion that Brad’s wife Suzanne was not happy about Gwyneth and she was looking for a BIG divorce settlement, especially considering they had been married for 10 years and they have two kids together. So what now?
When it comes to “uncoupling,” Gwyneth Paltrow wants her beau, producer Brad Falchuk, to step on it. She’s been legally single for six months, but Brad’s divorce from his estranged wife, Suzanne Bukinik, has seemingly stalled – even though they filed the papers two years ago.
An insider says that Gwyneth is setting sick of waiting.
“Gwyneth is questioning the relationship,” says the source. “She finds it odd and embarrassing that Brad hasn’t moved forward with his divorce. She wants him to settle things with his wife and move on.”
[From Star Magazine, print edition]
This story reminds me of LeAnn Rimes. Right? It feels like… “Hey, I got a divorce so we could be together, why are you dragging your feet with your divorce?!” All of this for a guy who isn’t even on-screen talent! How the mighty Goop has fallen. I’ll admit it – I never really thought this thing with Brad would last. I thought he was Goop’s jumpoff, and she would eventually dump him for a richer and/or more high profile dude. In any case, the easiest way to get Suzanne to sign the divorce papers might be to simply give her the big settlement she wants?
