Jason Hoppy was photographed with daughter Bryn in New York City on Tuesday (May 12). The barefoot 5-year-old took a ride on daddy’s shoulders while she held onto her blanket and doll.
The ugly legal battle continues between Jason and his ex, The Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel.
According to Radar Online, the reality star, 44, has been court-ordered to pay Jason’s legal bills — a whopping $100,000!
Not to mention, Bethenny is already shelling out nearly $12,000 a month in spousal support and $3,000 a month in child support, along with a majority of Bryn’s school tuition and medical bills.
Since Jason, a pharmaceutical sales executive, earns roughly $100,000 a year, he “lacks sufficient funds of his own to compensate counsel without depleting his assets.”
Bethenny and Jason were wed in 2010, and split just two years later. In 2013, the Skinnygirl founder filed for divorce and the couple initially agreed to share custody of Bryn (before Bethenny attempted to get sole custody).
Since then, Jason has continued to reside in their luxurious Tribeca loft.
“I’m homeless,” Bethenny said during a recent episode of Real Housewives of New York. “I’m totally without a home for over two years. And he lives in the apartment that I worked my whole life to buy. It just doesn’t make any sense.”

Here are some photos from today’s Irrational Man photocall in Cannes. Irrational Man is written and directed by Woody Allen – Woody prefers to promote his films in Europe, so bringing this to Cannes was probably an easy choice for him. The story is about a philosophy professor, played by Joaquin Phoenix, who falls for Emma Stone’s character because… something something Woody Allen. Because she’s Emma Stone and she’s light and happy and most importantly, young.
Emma’s little black dress was Oscar de la Renta. The skirt was too puffy and it was a windy day, so Emma kept holding down the skirt so as to not flash everyone. Much like Charlize Theron’s photocall look yesterday, I don’t get why ladies are going so DARK for Cannes. It’s sunny and light! Wear a sundress! Parker Posey was also at the photocall, looking predictably crazy/chic, bringing some ’80s secretary realness to the proceedings. Apparently, Woody told journalists that he always wanted to work with Parker because he liked her name. That’s pretty much Parker Posey in a nutshell!
I’m not sure why Joaquin Phoenix wasn’t there. Hopefully he’ll make it to the red carpet premiere tonight. I also don’t believe Andrew Garfield will be there – my feeling is still that Andrew and Emma have been over for months.

It’s PetSmart Charities of Canada’s National Adoption Weekend! Happening at PetSmart stores across the country May 15 – 17. Meet the dogs and cats up for adoption, talk to volunteers about the adoption process, plan for a new member of your family…
It’s almost like Kit Harington has a pathological need to look sad-faced. Kit covers the new issue of Out Magazine and he is not smiling or looking slightly amused in a single photo. Oh well… we’re just going to deal with his Sadface. You know what’s worse? Out Magazine even comes out and says that Kit is a wee little bloke. As they phrase it, “In person, Harington is slighter than one would imagine…” Ya think? Anyway, the interview is actually pretty great. Kit is fine with talking about how so many of his roles are homoerotic, how he hates talk shows and whether he still thinks that “being put on a pedestal as a hunk is slightly demeaning.” So, yes. Out Magazine is providing us with the latest edition of Celebitchy Presents: Kit Harington Says Words.
People always shout “You know nothing!” at him: “I get that a lot. It’s weird, this double personality — being a character.”
Appearing on talk shows: “I’m slowly getting to be more comfortable with them, but I find them terrifying. They scare the f–king living sh-t out of me.”
So many GoT characters have died: “So many people have left and died. It’s getting thinner and thinner on the ground each year. I’m just holding on to those people that have been there from the start, the core group, and wishing and praying that none of them die.”
The homoeroticism of the Night’s Watch: “There is something quite homoerotic about that. They all bunk up together. I haven’t really thought about it too much, but they’re brotherly. There’s brotherly love.”
The sexuality on GoT: “It’s not just gay and straight. We’ve got bisexual characters as well, which is rarely done on TV. I like the fact that we deal with a broad spectrum of sexuality.”
He stands by his previous statements about men being objectified: “I found it unfair, really, some of the stuff I read [in response]. I was making a point, which was that I think young men do get objectified, do get sexualized unnecessarily. As a person who is definitely in that category, as a young leading man in this world, I feel I have a unique voice to talk about that. I was making a point to sort of say, ‘It just needs to be highlighted.’ With every photo shoot I ever go to, I’m told to take off my shirt, and I don’t.”
His shirtless scenes in Pompeii: “It’s a gladiator movie! You have your top off. He’s a fighter. He’s supposed to be very fit. I got very fit.”
Visiting the ruins of Pompeii: “Completely phallic-obsessed! It was good luck to kind of touch a penis. Did you see the brothels bit? They’ve still got the murals of early pornographic pictures, basically. It was really interesting.”
Attending his first basketball game (the Knicks): “I have no idea what the rules are so I’ll just be the English guy in the crowd.”
His hair: “I look like this for the show, and this is how people recognize me at the moment… [Otherwise] I’d have short hair and no beard. Maybe a beard. I like having a beard. I could walk out on the street now, like this, and I would get recognized a lot. But tie that up, and go man-bun? Nothing.”
[From Out Magazine]
While I think young men do get sexualized and objectified in the Hollywood system (and the fashion industry), my problem with Kit’s comments are still pretty much the same as before. First off, women have it much worse and Kit doesn’t even seem to comprehend that. He doesn’t “get” that there’s something unequal about a system that has Melisandre naked in a scene with a fully-clothed Jon Snow. Secondly, “I’m told to take off my shirt, and I don’t.” So… he was asked to do something that made him uncomfortable and he said no, end of story. Okay. How would that story have gone if it was a photographer requested something from a young actress? And did he ever consider the idea that photographers ask to see his chest to distract from the Permanent Sadface? Third… I’m kind of tired of Kit complaining about how crazy-famous he is and how everyone thinks he’s the hottest. There’s something humble-braggy about it.
There’s also a moment of English perfection in the interview when he asks the American waitress, “Do you have any biscuits?” And it took the poor girl a second to realize he meant cookies. Kit was slightly embarrassed about it too, saying: “I didn’t know that’s what it was. That was very English of me, wasn’t it? Biscuits.” You guys… I love him. Really I do. Bless his heart.

For the most part, my priority with Cannes Film Festival coverage is fashion, which means women get priority over men. But I need to make Colin Farrell the lead of this post, because I kind of have ALL THE FEELS about him. I used to crush on Colin back in the day, when he was a fresh-faced badass new to Hollywood. Then he was a mess, then he got clean, and then he was sort of in hotness limbo for a while. But can we say that Colin is back and better than ever? He looks sooooo good here. These photos are from today’s photocall for The Lobster, a sci-fi rom-com starring Colin, Rachel Weisz and Lea Seydoux. More on them in a moment.
Colin’s appearance at Cannes comes just after a new trailer for True Detective Season 2 debuted. Here you go.
I come away with several things. One, Vince Vaughn really de-bloated for this role, and he looks better than he has in YEARS. Two, I really want Rachel McAdams to be great and for her role to be worthy of her talents. There’s also a rumor flying around pretty heavily nowadays that Rachel McAdams and Colin started hooking up during filming and they’re perhaps in a quiet relationship right now. I wouldn’t mind that at all. I feel like McAdams needs more dirty-fun in her life, and Colin needs someone psychologically stable like McAdams in his life.
I’m also including photos of Rachel Weisz and Lea Seydoux. Rachel’s awesome jumpsuit is Narciso Rodriguez (her favorite designer). Lea wore Prada and she looked sort of pregnant?

Melissa Rivers gave a talk this week at the 92nd street Y, moderated by Hoda Kotb, about her late mom, Joan Rivers. Melissa is promoting her new memoir, The Book of Joan. You can see the video of her talk on Today.com. She spoke a lot about her grief over losing her mom, and about how much Joan meant to her, the fans and all her many friends. It was sad and hard to hear at times, but also bittersweet and funny. It was a surprisingly interesting talk, I came away thinking that I’d watch a show with Melissa.
Everyone is focusing on the quote in the title, that Melissa said that Kathy Griffin “sh*t all over” her mother’s legacy by kind of trashing Fashion Police when she left. In context those quotes don’t sound as damning, because Melissa admitted that was her personal response to Kathy’s statement and that she knew it wasn’t intentional on Kathy’s part. She also had some funny things to say about how Joan would have shut down the controversy over Zendaya’s dreadlocks. I think that Melissa is mischaracterizing the controversy over Giuliana Rancic’s statement as an argument between Kelly Osbourne and Giuliana when it was actually much bigger than that. Zendaya was the one who called out Giuliana’s statement as racist and then Kelly chimed in from what I remember. Of course Kelly claimed to have warned Giuliana during taping that she shouldn’t tell that joke. So maybe Melissa is right. Here’s some of what Melissa told Hoda:
Hoda: You’re watching [your mom’s show Fashion Police] kind of crumble. Did you want to get in there and say something?
I did everything I could do. It’s a strange sort of dynamic. Yes I am the executive producer and one of the creators of the show, but it is owned by the network. So I can make all the suggestions that I want… the bottom line is, whoever signs your check is your boss. It was a very difficult time. I had a lot of conversations with everybody involved… it really shows that we were a family, it was cast and crew and staff. We went back too fast. Just like a family when the matriarch dies, the sisters started fighting and someone tried to marry in, not a great match, live and learn.
It was extremely frustrating because I had to keep my eye on the franchise and the legacy of it and not get involved in the personal.
Your role is someone [who gets people together]. Is that still a possibility?
It’s a possibility. I just know that I don’t want to go through the unhappiness that I went through for those few months again… I felt like Fashion Police was this little jewel and it was the last piece I had of my mother and I working together.
I felt like all these people were so out of control, including the one who made the allegations of racism – they took the last thing I had and smashed it… So I think I had to take a little bit of a break, we just started creative meetings again now, to reformat and come back.
What do you think Joan’s thinking?
It never would have happened if she was alive… I think there might be a little bit of a twinkle in her eye saying ‘yeah, couldn’t do it without me, could ya?’ After that, I’d think she’d be a little bit frustrated. If something like that would have happened and my mother had been ne alive, she would have gone ‘are you serious, oh please, all of this over a wig?’ Literally it was a wig, let’s all relax. It never would have happened. She would have called Giuliana and yelled at Giuliana, she would have called Kelly and yelled at Kelly and said ‘stop it,’ and she would have listened to them both cry and complain about each other and she’d be like ‘hey is everyone over it, now let’s all go to work.’
Were you glad [Kathy Griffin] was a part of [Fashion Police] or not?
I’m just going to say it wasn’t a match on a lot of levels. My biggest complaint was the feeling that she kind of sh*t all over my mother’s legacy in her statement on leaving. I know that that was not an intentional reading of it, but that’s how I felt, but I know that wasn’t how it was intended. Everybody was so heightened and everybody was so crazy, but that was my takeaway by calling the comedy and the style of it old fashioned. It’s like, I understand what you’re doing, you’re trying to save yourself, but don’t crap all over my mother to do it. And that’s how I felt and that was very personal, but as a professional that was her choice, that’s what she did, no harm no foul, it didn’t work, moving on.
From what I can find, Kathy Griffin never directly called Fashion Police old fashioned. In her statement leaving Fashion Police she said that her style of comedy didn’t fit with the direction of show and in later interviews she called Fashion Police formulaic and said that she was hoping it would be more contextual.
You can tell that Melissa really dislikes Kelly Osbourne because she wouldn’t even call her by her name at first, she called her “the one who made the allegations of racism.” Kelly is such a pain in the ass and she picks fights with everyone. I get why Melissa felt like Kathy Griffin was putting down her mom’s style of comedy in her statement – Melissa was personally invested in the show and she had just lost her mother in a very sudden way. The thing is, Joan probably wouldn’t have cared and she would have had a quick, obnoxious response for Kathy. Joan could dish it out and she could take it too. That lady did not have thin skin.
