Here are some photos of the British royals and politicians at the Sunday VE Day service in England. Queen Elizabeth was there, wearing a rather beautiful navy coat and some gorgeous jewelry (that brooch is the business). I like her black hat too! The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall were also in attendance. I think Camilla looks really nice here – I like her devotion to pale, silvery blues. If you remember, she also wore a very pale blue on her wedding day to Prince Charles. The color suits her.

While doing an event over the weekend, Charles gushed about his new granddaughter. He told well-wishers “I really was hoping for a girl. She is beautiful. I was hoping for a grand-daughter – someone to look after me when I am very old.” I think it’s really sweet how happy Charles is about having a girl in the family. Reportedly, he always hoped to have a daughter with Diana, and he was hoping that Harry would turn out to be a girl. Now he’s got his granddaughter.

I’m also including a photo of newly re-elected Prime Minister David Cameron, who was at church with his wife Samantha. I wanted to mention Samantha in particular – is it just me or is Mrs. Cameron consistently underdressed? I don’t mean that she’s showing too much skin (she’s not), but it just seems like whenever there’s a formal event where ladies are in suits and hats, SamCam is wearing some breezy little dress and no hat. It’s weird. Is she consciously going for a more low-key, less formal look?

The big Tomorrowland premiere happened in LA on Saturday. George Clooney had two dates: his wife Amal and Amal’s tween niece Mia. Mia is the daughter of Amal’s sister Tala (People Magazine is trying to make Tala happen, remember?). Mia is all of 13-years-old and she got to pose with George Clooney at the premiere of his big Disney movie. Yes, they’re selling this movie to kids.

As for Amal… her shoes are Giambattista Valli, one of her favorite designers, and they are pretty cool. I thought the dress might be Valli as well, but some think it’s Alexander McQueen. I’ll update if I get an ID! I don’t mind the dress at all – it’s well-designed, it’s pretty and flattering. I like the combination of pink and black and it seems appropriately “fun” for a Disney movie premiere.

Meanwhile, you know how one of Amal’s many high-profile cases is “The Hooded Men” case? The Hooded Men were Northern Irish men who were allegedly tortured by British police/military during the Troubles. The men were held without charges or trial and the case is all about who ordered the alleged torture. Amal is part of the legal team defending the Hooded Men and she’s going to accuse the late Sir Edward Heath (former Prime Minister) of ordering it. You can read more about the case here. Amal is going to be heading back to Strasburg, basically, and sources say George will be joining her “to ensure the case gets maximum publicity.”

Oh, and George kissed Amal’s hand at the premiere. It seems a bit over the top.

I was hoping to see some photos of Benedict Cumberbatch at last night’s BAFTA TV awards in London. Alas, he didn’t show up. He was nominated for Sherlock, his fifth BAFTA TV nomination, and now he’s a five-time BAFTA TV loser. He’s a BAFTA Film loser too – he was nominated for The Imitation Game earlier this year, his first BAFTA Film nomination, and he lost to Eddie Redmayne. This time around, Bendy lost to Jason Watkins, star of the miniseries The Lost Honour of Christopher Jeffries.

So why did Benedict not even show up? Was it because he figured he would lose again? Or was it because he’s finally staying close to home as his wife is due any moment? According to sources, it was because of Sophie. That’s not all – The Daily Mirror says that Benedict and Sophie have decided to call London home indefinitely, after flirting with the idea of a move to LA:

The Sunday People can reveal that, the global superstar has turned his back on the glamour and glitz of Los Angeles so he can raise a family in the English capital with his new wife Sophie Hunter.

Benedict, 38, and theatre director Sophie, 37, are expecting their first child in the next few weeks. And despite the lure of big Hollywood roles after a string of Oscar nominations for box office hits like 12 Years a Slave and The Imitation Game, the dad-to-be is determined to bring up his offspring on Holmes territory.

Benedict, who hopes to win a TV Bafta on Sunday night for his role as the Victorian detective in BBC One’s Sherlock , said: “I am nesting for my family and just living a London life.”

And in The Remarkable Case of the Modest Superstar, Benedict added: “I want to live as much a normal life as I can.”

I didn’t really think this was in question, at least for the time being. Benedict is scheduled for back-to-back projects in England for the next year, isn’t he? And Sophie is still “theater directing” or whatever, and all of her best connections are in England. So of course they’re staying there. For now. But we’ll see what happens if, 18 months from now, Benedict gets offered some big project in LA or NYC or whatever. He would happily uproot his family, I’m guessing.

PS… Shall we even put bets on the Cumberbaby? I’m saying it will be a girl and they name her something like Delphina Hermione Wanda Cumberbatch.

Two months ago, Marilyn Manson dropped an odd (for him) comment into an i-D interview to promote his Pale Emperor album and tour. This wasn’t a reaction to the Drake incident from last month. From how the journo described the discussion, Manson was dropping an unprovoked, stream-of-consciousness thought: “I’m kind of interested in this Madonna record. She looks hotter than ever. I’d also like to let it be known that I still have a crush on Madonna and I would definitely fornicate with her.”

Was it a real overture? Who knows. Manson says random crap all the time. I think he was serious but (even as a Manson apologist) believe the statement was half-cloaked in douchery. Here’s my translation of Manson’s offer: “Of course I’d sleep with Madonna even though she’s ‘past her prime.’ See how generous I am? Yet I’m far too cowardly to make a direct play, so imma drop this random ‘compliment’ in between questions and drink it off later when she doesn’t notice.”

It took this long, but someone finally alerted Madge that she has a freak-ay admirer. She delivered the perfect half-response on Instagram:

“Um………thanks!” could mean many things, but it doesn’t even rise to the level of “Call me, maybe.” She layeth the smackdown and dismissed his “Oh, I’d bang you even though you’re the Old” with less than a full sentence. Then Madonna retired to the boudoir with her latest 20-something dude and laughed at 46-year-old Manson: “He’s the one who’s too old!” (Here’s something even more telling. Manson is following Madonna on Instagram, but she’s not following him.)

FYI: Manson will be okay. He’s currently grinding through a sold-out US tour, and he’s back together with Lindsay Usich (who appears to be with him on tour). I hope she laughed at him too.

Here’s an atypical shoutout from Joel Madden (on Mother’s Day) to wife Nicole Richie via his Instagram account. These two usually stay lowkey in the PDA department, but someone may be overcompensating. For the past few weeks, InTouch has been trying to make a Nicole and Joel split story happen. The tabloid wrote that trouble was brewing: “They’re on the brink of divorce. They’ve been spending more time apart. Nicole can be very forceful when she doesn’t get her way, and Joel doesn’t respond to that.” In Touch followed up with a more dire installment, saying that Nicole was meeting with divorce attorneys and “weighing her options.” She’s reportedly tired of feeling like a single parent to Harlow (7) and Sparrow (5). He’s busy with the Australian version of The Voice. We hear these stories about once a year from the tabloids, but they usually come from Star.

I was ready to dismiss InTouch’s latest tales as mere fiction. Then Nicole stepped out sans wedding ring with Cameron Diaz. Come to think of it, Nicole was hiding her left hand during an afternoon outing last week with Joel. The photos looked awkward, and they met with an unidentified woman. Here’s another strange observation — a photo of two moving vans outside Nicole and Joel’s home on Saturday morning.

Do the moving vans say more than an absent wedding ring? A lot of people can’t stand to wear jewelry (I’m one of them) unless it’s a very special occasion. Sometimes a ring goes in for cleaning and repair. Yet it’s hard to explain away moving vans unless someone is actually leaving the home. What’s even weirder is that Joel Instagrammed his “wife socks“ (and Nicole’s matching pair) on Friday. So what’s going on here?

Here is Gigi Hadid’s new cover for Vogue Australia. It’s a nice cover, although I think it would have been better without the sparkly turtleneck. This is actually Gigi’s second international Vogue cover – her first was Vogue Spain. Her career is coming along nicely, especially considering that she comes from a reality show family, just as much as Kendall Jenner (Gigi’s mom is Yolanda Foster).

In the interview with Vogue Australia, Gigi talked about her Aussie boyfriend, singer Cody Simpson. She basically says that he plays his new music for her and if she doesn’t like it, she’ll tell him it sucks. Perhaps it was that kind of blunt honesty that led to their breakup! Yes, if you were around a teenager this weekend, I’m sure you heard: Gigi and Cody broke up. AGAIN. This is the second major breakup for them.

One of young Hollywood’s most famous couples has decided to call it quits. E! News can exclusively confirm Gigi Hadid and Cody Simpson have ended their relationship again to focus more on their respective careers.

“Cody and Gigi want each other to be in a place right now that allows him to only focus on his music, fans, and new message, while she can focus and continue building her career,” Hadid’s rep told E! News. “They love each other dearly and have split up in hopes that growing on their own paths will bring them together in the future. They remain friends with no hard feelings and each other’s biggest supporters.”

Gigi is 20 and Cody is 18. This was never going to be forever. It’s sort of shocking that they broke up once and got back together, although that’s pretty common with the “kids” these days. Gigi and Cody are like the new Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez (Biebs and Sel-Go are so 2012, eyeroll). All drama and makeups and Instagramming their love and breakups and more drama and accusations and more Instagram and cheating and makeups and then more Instagram.

Anyway, considering it was a pretty quiet weekend, Gigi and Cody’s breakup inexplicably dominated a lot of sites and headlines. Or maybe I’m misreading it – maybe people really do want to know. I sometimes like to take the temperature for interest in certain celebrities. Should I ignore Gigi or do you want me to keep covering her? I kind of think she’s interesting and she has potential as a gossip-worthy “model-celebrity,” in the Cara Delevingne archetype, especially if Gigi moves on from Cody with a bigger-name boyfriend. I keep saying the Gigi is exactly Leonardo DiCaprio’s type (young, blonde, legs for days, model). I think Leo’s waiting for her. So… honk if you want more Gigi!

I’m not sure what surprises me more, that Mindy Kaling covers the new issue of InStyle or that InStyle didn’t Photoshop her into oblivion. Here is a perfectly attractive woman who is NOT a size zero and… she looks like herself on a magazine cover. It’s a miracle! Anyway, this interview was done before Fox canceled The Mindy Project, but I get the feeling that Mindy knew the ax was coming (why else would she have gone to Montana for a break?). She talks a bit about TMP’s struggles, plus her weird relationship with BJ Novak, etc. Some highlights:

Her relationship with her ex, BJ Novak: “I will freely admit: My relationship with B.J. Novak is weird as hell. He is not my boyfriend, but he is not my best friend. I guess you could describe our relationship as a ‘romantically charged camaraderie with loud arguments,’ but I don’t think Facebook would accept this as a new status.”

The idea of marriage: “I don’t have a particular urge to get married. But I do know with certainty that I want to have kids, because my relationship with [my mom] was so special.”

Starting TMP just after her mom died: “I was very lucky that the show started up at that time so I could just throw myself into it and distract myself. But the truth is, even though it’s been three years, it still feels like it just happened. I remember the sound of her voice so distinctly.”

Her diva moments: “My diva moments are more tied to panicky worry. [My assistant] will have prepared everything for a day and then that morning, I wake up and I’m like, ‘I don’t want to do any of that; it has to be completely different.’ But I don’t throw hairbrushes at people or anything like that. I haven’t gotten there yet.”

Her style: “I think I’m very susceptible [to other people’s style]. We’ll have someone like Laura Dern on the show, and I’ll see what she’s wearing, and I’m just like, ‘Okay, well, that’s obviously the way you should dress.’ Or I’ll meet some cool actress who only wears Helmut Lang and Vince, and I’m like ‘Ugh! That looks amazing and chic and everything coordinates with everything and I need to get, like, a ratty T-shirt.’ I love fashion and I love clothes.”

I always kind of worry about BJ Novak and Mindy’s relationship. Yes, I’ve spent too much time thinking about it. I think they were in love at one point and maybe they were too young or maybe he just tapped out because it got too “real.” I feel like ever since they broke up, they’ve both had regrets about it. I also kind of think that their relationship isn’t that healthy? Like, Mindy hasn’t been able to fully move on to another serious relationship because BJ is always there. Like, he doesn’t want to date her again but he doesn’t want anyone else to date her either. That’s just how I read it.

It’s a united front for Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey!

On Mother’s Day, the America’s Got Talent host, 34, shared a special message for the Grammy Award-winning singer.

“Gotta represent for the Mother of my children,” Nick Instagrammed the image of Mariah, 45, and their 4-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe.

He added: “She is such a wonderful, thoughtful, festive, loving and nurturing Soul. I will forever be in debt to you for blessing me and the rest of the world with Roc & Roe. A true #Queen Will love you always @MariahCarey #HappyMothersDay.”

After six years of marriage, Cannon filed for divorce in Dec. 2014. Nick and Mariah initially separated in Aug. that same year.

Bravetown actor Josh Duhamel was spotted with son Axl, 20 months, on Saturday (May 9).

The father-of-one, 42, was seen pushing his tot in the stroller in their Brentwood, Calif. neighborhood.

On Friday, we saw Josh and his wife, Black Eyed Peas frontwoman Fergie, enjoying a park playdate with their son.

“He’s a such a sweet little guy,” Duhamel told E! News. “He’s really fun and social. He’s super curious and talking like crazy. I think he gets that from her. She was talking really young. He seems to have that gift of gab.”

As for his wife of six years, it sounds like she’s keeping busy these days. “She’s working really hard on this album right now,” Duhamel said.

What about their Mother’s Day plans?

“She really just wants to keep it low key,” he shared. “We’re going to do something with her family tomorrow and then probably just a little something here at the house.”

Duhamel’s police series Battle Creek was recently cancelled by CBS.
