Here are some photos of Sofia Vergara getting her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday. I find it interesting that they timed this event specifically ahead of the release of Sofia’s big co-starring role in Hot Pursuit, but Reese Witherspoon didn’t come out for it. Instead, it ended up being a big Modern Family event. Which is nice because Sofia loves her Modern Family costars and coworkers.
Anyway, I feel for Sofia. Her promotional tour for Hot Pursuit has been hijacked by her psycho ex’s lawsuit, and now in every interview she does, she has to answer insanely personal questions about children, fertility, IVF, lawyers, reproductive choice and whether Nick Loeb is a stalker (spoiler: he IS a stalker). Combine that with the fact that Hot Pursuit’s reviews are reaching Adam Sandler-esque proportions. Rotten Tomatoes has Hot Pursuit at 5% this morning (down from 6% a few hours ago). Critics are going hard too. The words being used: shrill, unfunny, awkward, “Reese Witherspoon’s worst movie,” equal opportunity fiasco, painful, illogical. Yeah, it’s a bad movie. Poor Sofia. She’s having such a terrible few weeks.
Incidentally, Sofia also covers the new issue of Cosmo Latina – go here to see. The interview is pretty boring, but she does say that having kids with Joe Manganiello “isn’t a priority.” Ya think?

Am I the only one still wondering what was up with Blake Lively’s absence at the Met Gala on Monday night? Her rep said her absence was because she was filming movies “back to back” in Asia. Which… is easily disproven, considering everyone has access to IMDB. Her IMDB lists All I See Is You as her next film, so maybe that’s filming in Asia? Maybe? But there is some good news (sort of) for Blake’s career: she did just get a legitimate job! She’s been cast in the new Woody Allen film, which will be filmed this summer:
Fresh from opening The Age Of Adaline, Blake Lively will join the ensemble cast of Woody Allen’s next film. She will join Jesse Eisenberg, Bruce Willis and Kristen Stewart, I’m told. As usual, the film is untitled and there are no plot details, but the picture is being produced by Letty Arsonson, Stephen Tenenbaum and Edward Walson, his usual collaborators.
Allen is casting the film as he prepares for the Cannes premiere of Irrational Man, which stars Emma stone and Joaquin Phoenix and will be released by Sony Pictures Classics July 24th.
It’s a good time for Lively, as Age of Adaline has grossed $24 million so far domestically as nice counter programming against the behemoth Avengers: Age Of Ultron. Lively is next booked to star alongside Jason Clarke in the Marc Forster-directed All I See Is You. Then she will join Allen’s film. She’s repped by WME and Management 360.
[From Deadline]
The way Woody Allen almost always works is that he films for about eight to ten weeks in the summer months, cuts the film quickly and starts writing another script, which will be made the following year. So… Blake will be working this summer on a Woody Allen film. I doubt she cares about the rumors and accusations, by the way. She, like so many actors, just wants to work with Woody. I would assume the same is true of Kristen Stewart, Bruce Willis, etc. Also: Kristen and Blake in the same movie? Miss Perma-Grump and Miss Sunshine? It will be epic.
Meanwhile, Blake has a new interview with the BBC’s Newsbeat. Some assorted quotes about baby James and her post-baby body.
She’s not glamorous in real life: “We don’t have red carpets in our house. Or glam squads and people making us look awesome and making it look easy every day. What our house is like, it’s just in complete chaos. It’s lasting on no sleep and not knowing what to do because you’re a parent.”
Her post-baby body: “I’m still 15 pounds heavier so it’s nice that people think I lost my baby weight. I still haven’t lost a pretty good chunk of it, but it’s also the pressure – who cares? There’s pressure to lose it, or women are like supposed to look like they did when they were 19 right after you give birth to your child, I think it’s silly.” Blake says breastfeeding has helped, but she’s “not really obsessing” over losing any more weight right now.
[From BBC]
To my eyes, it does look like Blake has lost all of her baby weight and that her body snapped back really quickly after giving birth. That’s what being tall and leggy will do for you, people. But she’s right… who cares? She’s happy and healthy and I hate that new moms are expected to bounce back quickly. I also hate that new moms are being constantly asked about their bodies. Ugh to all of it.

This isn’t a huge story, just something that made me chuckle. Kevin Jonas, who was the least remarkable member of the Jonas Brothers, is doing some press to promote his new app. The best bit of gossip I ever heard about Kevin is how he fell in love with (and married) a random woman who cut his hair. She didn’t know who the Jonas Brothers were! Danielle Deleasa has since gotten with the program, and she and Kevin do reality shows and have a baby girl, Alena Rose.
Back when the Jonas Brothers split, the drama wasn’t as heavy as the current 1D crisis. Lots of fans were still quite upset. My daughter pushed her Jonas magnets to separate corners of the refrigerator. (“They’re broken up,” she sadly said.) With the benefit of retrospect, Kevin has offered some unsolicited advice to Zayn Malik. These musings come after Zayn slammed Louis Tomlinson and called him “bitchy.” Kevin spoke with Elvis Duran (via People) to discuss some hard realities about the death of a boy band.
The big Jonas split: “Notice how when [the Jonas Brothers] went dark, we went dark. We didn’t do a single interview, we didn’t talk to anybody, we just went dark. I just got really depressed for a while. There’s a mourning process!”
Kevin still misses the band: “I miss touring. I miss seeing people on the road. I miss that adrenaline rush, there’s nothing like it. When you go out on stage … and you greet the crowd, there’s nothing like it.”
Is he “Jealous” of Nick’s solor career? “I don’t know how many times I literally hear this,” he said of the persistent rumors. “It’s the worst pun in the world from some idiotic frat guy. It’s like, ‘You must be ‘Jealous’ of Nick!’ .. Constantly! It’s like, why? He’s doing his thing. I’m doing mine! He’s happy. I’m happy.”
His advice to Zayn: “In the midst of that intensity, he should go dark for a long time. You gotta go dark for at least six weeks! Like, underground, you gotta go hard, like you’re done. … You have to let the dust clear. Anything you do then will be scrutinized.”
[From People]
This is actually very solid advice. The One Directioners weren’t pleased at Zayn’s outburst. He immediately lost nearly 100,000 Twitter followers, and that number has likely grown. Zayn made the problem worse by begging his former fans come back. He tweeted, “Don’t know why I’m being attacked for defending myself , people got it twisted! I love my fans ?! Every single one of you.” Yeah … he really needs to hand his Twitter password over to a trusted party and re-cultivate some mystery.

Gwyneth Paltrow supported her mother, Blythe Danner, at the premiere of I’ll See You In My Dreams last night in LA. Man, Blythe looks so good. And I love the two prints she’s mixing here. Will G get Blythe’s genes? I’d want Blythe’s genes.
George Clooney has just started promoting Tomorrowland, and I guess the first day of his junket was Thursday, because there are so many new quotes from George! Surprisingly, very few of the new quotes are about Tomorrowland. Mr. Clooney has become the kind of guy who gushes about his wife’s fashion in interviews. He’s also the guy complaining about how his wife doesn’t get sports! You know who got sports? Stacy Keibler. I wonder if he misses her. Some assorted quotes for George:
Why he fell in love with Amal: “She’s an amazing human being. And she’s caring. And she also happens to be one of the smartest people I’ve ever met. And she’s got a great sense of humor. There’s a number of reasons why.”
He’s proud of her lawyer skills: “I’m always very proud of her when I see her speaking at the International Court of Appeals in Strasbourg, you know, with her robe on. It’s very impressive. It’s a nice looking robe. They could spice that robe up a little bit.”
On her fashion: “It’s amazing, because she’s always — since the day I met her — she’s always had this insanely … it’s eccentric but it’s fun, sense of fashion. How she does it while she’s got 11 cases she’s working on, and she was teaching at Columbia, and she’s still like, ‘I want to wear that dress.’ It’s crazy. It has been sort of fascinating to watch, because she has such great taste.”
She doesn’t get sports: “I watch sports and it kills her because I got her into March Madness a little. She got into that, but it was enough, so the next week was the Masters, and I’m watching that and she goes, ‘So every weekend we’re gonna be watching a sporting event.’ I’m like, ‘Actually, that’s how it works.’ ”
[From ET & People]
He also says that he had to convert a bedroom into a closet for all of Amal’s clothes, and that he “doesn’t remember” much about his 54th birthday celebrations. And apparently, Amal did not get him a Porsche. Probably because of the bucket seats, right? He also says didn’t get a blender either. Damn, George… are you reading Celebitchy?!

These are photos of Hugh Jackman taken on a beach in Hawaii on 4-29 that we never got around to publishing. I’m sorry! It’s just that Hugh is so consistently hot, and he’s always such a standup guy, that you guys don’t often comment on his posts. Maybe I don’t sell him hard enough either, because these photos are making my week. It’s Friday and I’m staring at photos of Hugh Jackman shirtless. It’s going to be a good day. (Bonus link to older shirtless photos of Jackman.)
Late last year, we heard that Hugh Jackman was treated for skin cancer for the third time in a year. It turns out that he’s had a whopping “four skin cancers in 18 months,” which he blames on his childhood on the beach in Australia. In a new interview with People, Jackman talks about his cancer scare and the importance of sunscreen. He’s promoting his new line of skincare for kids, Pure Defense, which features photos of popular superheroes and Disney characters. I’ve seen that at the store and it’s a great idea. Here’s more from handsome Hugh:
Did you wear sunscreen as a kid?
No. I spent my childhood outside on a beach in Australia, where we have a very thin layer of ozone. I played cricket outside and I’d forget my cap. My nose would get burned every weekend.
How do you monitor your skin now?
I got every three months for checkups. It’s the new normal for me – my doctor says I’ll likely have more, and if that’s your cross to bear in life, you should be so lucky. No one will die from it if you get checkups. In almost every case it’s treatable.
How has this changed you?
I used to think if I didn’t come back with a little bit of color, it’s not a real holiday. I know the reality now: It’s stupid. If you get color, you are going to damage your skin on some level. In the old days, sometimes they’d ask me to get tan for a role, but now I spray-tan if I need it.
As a former Sexiest Man Alive, any tips on making sunscreen, well, sexy?
I don’t think I can comment from the platform of Sexiest Man Alive – that was years ago. [Laughs] We joke about it, but for some kids, they might think it’s cool: “If Wolverine is wearing sunscreen, then I’ll wear it…”
Why have you been so public on social media about your skin cancer?
It’s not as scary as I first thought, as long as you take care of it. There are a lot of things that happen in life that are hard to avoid, but skin cancer is something you can avoid if you protect yourself. I’m heartened to see the idea that to be sexy and beautiful you have to be tan is gone. People like Nicole Kidman have done a great job. She was made fun of when she was a kid in Australia because she stayed in the shade. No one is making fun of her now.
[From People Magazine, print edition, May 18, 2015]
My gym is near a tanning salon and the ladies I see coming out of there… let’s just say they’re older ladies and it looks like they’ve been tanning for decades. Wolverine is right, it’s not really in fashion to get a deep tan anymore, but some people cling to it like they do to hairstyles from decades ago. I’m grateful to my mom for teaching me early to use sunscreen, not only due to skin cancer but because I’m getting older and have been able to avoid some wrinkles. The next time I put on my factor 70 I’ll think of Hugh Jackman. Shirtless and helping me apply it.

Cougar Town star Busy Philipps and husband, screenwriter Marc Silverstein, were photographed with daughter Birdie, 6, in West Hollywood, Calif. on Thursday (May 7).
Donning denim overalls, the Dawson’s Creek alum, 35, and her family went shopping at Fred Segal.
The actress and her husband are also parents to 1-year-old daughter Cricket.
The proud mom-of-two Instagrammed an image of her homemade Mother’s Day card.
“Birdie couldn’t wait & she gave me my Mother’s Day card today. In case it’s hard to read, in her “Memory Heart” she has written “Take care of me since I was born. Now. Bake cakes for my birthday. All the good times we had together. It takes me back to when I was 3. I love you. ” It is a perfect card,” she captioned the precious card.
