Khloe Kardashian covers the new issue of Cosmo Body. The photoshoot happened before Khloe went blonde (or blonder than she is here). I don’t have much to say about the cover, but you can see the rest of the NSFW-ish shoot here. It’s always a bad idea to get on all fours with your Pinocchio Butt in the air in front of a camera. Someone should needlepoint that on a pillow. As for the interview, Khloe talks about body image, plastic surgery, working out and Lamar drama. Some highlights:

Body image in the public eye: “On my Instagram page people comment saying ‘I liked you better when you were bigger’ and I think, ‘Thank God I don’t live my life for other people because I’d be in a constant tug of war.’”

She never felt fat: “I have never felt ‘fat’ I just didn’t realize how unhealthy I was until I look back at pictures. In the moment I felt so beautiful and I remember walking down red carpets with my make-up done in a little sparkly dress and I thought I was so cute. I had all this confidence.”

She started going to the gym to deal with her Lamar issues: “I decided to channel my energy into working out…if I went out with my girlfriends I would be hounded by paparazzi and made to feel more humiliated. The gym was my only refuge. I could put music on and dance around with my girlfriends and be silly.”

On plastic surgery: “If you want to do a tweak, I’m all for it, but you have to love yourself first because no surgery is going to change your heart. It would have been such an easy solution to get liposuction or whatever, but you have to be healthy to maintain that. I’ve always felt like ‘Wouldn’t it be great to accomplish that on your own?’”

[From Cosmopolitan]

I think the knives would be out for her no matter what she says about plastic surgery. And I respect her more for not issuing a flat-out denial, because she would looks SO stupid if she was all, “OMG, my lips and my Pinocchio Butt are all natural, you guys.” No one would believe her. So, Khloe gets tweaked. She got a big fake butt and big lips out of nowhere. Maybe some nose work too. But I don’t think she did lipo. Now, Kim on the other hand? I think Kim has gotten and continues to get lipo and “maintenance” stuff.

Here are some photos of Khloe at the gym yesterday. Pinocchio Butt!!!!!!!!! It looks even bigger than before. I just don’t understand… anything. I don’t “get” the Pinocchio Butt.

Happy birthday to mom-of-two Jessica Alba who turned 34 on Tuesday.

The Sin City actress celebrated her special day with husband Cash Warren and their two daughters Honor, 6 1/2, and Haven, 3 1/2. “My family and @honest office surprised me today with confetti + mariachi band +flowers +dessert and song! “You don’t really know how [your career] is affecting [your kids] until they’re adults and they say, ‘You ruined my life, Mom!’” she dished. “Maybe they want me to be a stay-at-home mother who bakes chocolate-chip muffins all day. Nah. I’d probably want to start a chocolate-chip muffin company. Ya know?”

Harvey Weinstein

Earlier this week, the Tony nominations landed on the internet’s doorstop. We learned that this year’s hosts, Alan Cumming and Kristen Chenowith, have some surprises planned. As predicted, Bradley Cooper nabbed a best male performance nod. BCoop has said that starring in The Elephant Man was his lifelong dream. He was inspired to become an actor, in fact, by watching one of the production’s prior revivals. Coop is a classically trained actor, but his stint on Broadway this season wasn’t a coincidence. This was a way for him to put a different spin on his third Oscar nomination while his friends did the handshaking for him. Coop lost the Oscar, but he’ll probably win the Tony. A nice trade-off.

It never dawned on me until now that Harvey Weinstein co-produced The Elephant Man, which is how Coop got the gig. Harvey had his hands all over Broadway this season, especially with his $20 million investment in Finding Neverland (starring Matthew Morrison). That play came up empty-handed for noms, and everyone figures Harvey is secretly fuming. The NY Post had a great time trashing this production, noting how critics described the play as “empty calories” and “fatally ersatz.” The production has been plagued by drama. A publicist walked out, but analysts think the bad publicity may help ticket sales. No matter. The focus with Harvey is usually on awards. The NY Post says Broadway wants Harvey to take his ball and go home to Hollywood:

The Tony nominators gave Harvey Weinstein the hook, the Captain Hook!

Weinstein’s $20 million Peter Pan musical Finding Neverland — his first foray onto Broadway — failed to receive a single Tony nomination Tuesday.

This is Broadway telling Harvey to go away, to take his bulldozing tactics back to Hollywood and leave the business of theater to theater people.

Well, I exaggerate. That overrated camp fest Something Rotten! received 10 nominations, including Best Musical, which means the Tony nominators aren’t immune to a lapse of taste.

For the record, they also ignored Larry David and his Fish in the Dark, which can lick its wounds all the way to the bank, since it’s one of the most successful nonmusical shows in history.

But the snubbing of Weinstein and his show is the headline today, and the question is, what’s he going to do about it?

Weinstein responded. “With 27 nominations today for ‘Fun Home,’ The Elephant Man, The Audience and Wolf Hall, shows that we either co-invested or co-produced, we couldn’t be more thrilled. As as for Finding Neverland, our passion for it remains unwavering. I could not be more proud of the magic created on our stage by Diane Paulus and the entire Neverland team night after night, which has made this show a smash hit.”

That said, I still think Harvey’s plotting something.

[From NY Post]

This is deliciously catty gossip and high drama on Broadway. Harvey has reportedly assured his cast and crew that the lack of Finding Neverland nods “was a missile, squarely aimed at me.” This is probably true. I’ve always wondered how theater actors feel when Hollywood stars swoop in and gather up the plum roles. Broadway producers have always embraced big movie star names because they translate into ticket sales. But when it comes to Harvey Weinstein, Broadway seems to have drawn a line. Harvey’s influence goes far and wide at the Oscars, but Broadway isn’t impressed. He’s surely kicking a wall right now.

Avatar star Zoe Saldana posted an updated photo on Instagram Wednesday.

“God bless the child that’s got his own, That’s got his own–Billie Holiday,” the new mom, 36, captioned the image with one of her 5-month-old twin sons — Cy or Bowie. “#Motherhood #LoveTheseKids”

In a Wednesday Facebook post, the Guardians of the Galaxy star also revealed her children’s latest milestone.

“The boys are 5 months and they are teething,” she wrote. “We are getting creative every day on finding ways to keep them entertained (mothers, we are open for suggestions) so that we can get some work done.”

As it turns out, that work includes exercising in the living room.

“I do not have anything to prove to anyone,” she continued. “I am not obsessed with working out or with being skinny (yes, this is for all the haters that are itching to judge and make this a negative thing).”

The actress goes on to remind new moms not to focus on their body after baby, and revealed that her husband Marco Perego is very good at reminding her that the occasional indulgence is a good thing.

“Mommies, don’t beat yourselves if you fall off the wagon and eat like teenagers,” she added. “Yesterday we took our friend out for sushi and I swear I ate everything AND the kitchen sink. Right before I started my typical routine of self-loathing Marco looked at me and said “Z, it’s ok. Start again tomorrow”. I loved him for that, he reminded me there always tomorrow to make right what you have undone today. I’m also reminded that this is for life and not a temporary fix. So why am I going to add more stress to my life by putting a deadline on my healthy lifestyle.”

I sort of can’t believe that CB sent me this lead! It involves Chris Evans a little bit, and we all know that Bedhead has a claim on the Drunk Chunk-Butt. My only explanation for it is that it’s mostly about The Largely Absent Chris Hemsworth and one of his rare interviews on behalf The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Hemsworth has been in the wind during this promotional tour – sure, he’s come out to the premieres, but that’s about it. It’s like a repeat of the promotional tour for Thor: The Dark Loki, when Tom Hiddleston picked up all the slack left in the wake of The Largely Absent Hemsworth. Anyway, for this interview, Marvel paired the Chrises, Hemsworth and Evans, and the result was surprisingly inoffensive. They joke around some, but it’s mostly just Hemsworth talking about how there should be more female superheroes, etc. Some highlights:

Q: There has been a lot of commentary that there needs to be more female representation in these films.

Evans: Who says that? Great, use that. Nailed it. Man, I saved this one.

Hemsworth: I didn’t say that, by the way.

Evans: No, I did.

Hemsworth: I agree, there should be more female representation … (laughing) Before he (Evans) ruins this interview and my career, what’s the question? I’m actually interested, what was the question?

Q: How does this movie address criticism that there aren’t enough female characters in superhero movies?

Hemsworth: (If I) have it my way, I’d get rid of all of us, have an all female cast – women are smarter than men. My mum’s smarter, so is my wife, so women (turns to Evans) you should leave this interview and women should lead the world. You sexist human being.

Evans: This interview is my favorite one. This is my favorite one. My favorite.

Hemsworth: I’m with you though, I’m just not sure we’ve really nailed down the question.

Evans: But they’re going to do it though. They’re doing “Captain Marvel,” people are going nuts over Captain Marvel. Scarlett (Johansson) was playing Black Widow in “Iron Man 2,” it wasn’t like she had a long-picture deal, but fans wanted it and she keeps coming back. Now we’ve got (Elizabeth) Olsen and even Cobie (Smulders), they keep bringing Cobie back. There’s no denying that people want to see female superheroes and there’s plenty of them, and I think (with) Marvel, these aren’t getting old. I think a lot of people think there’s superhero exhaustion. I tend to disagree because Marvel can’t stop making good movies, and they absolutely will bring more females to the screen. Nailed it.

[From Reuters]

Just going by the transcript, it sounds like Chris Evans is sort of stuck between “blackout drunk” and “a little kid on a sugar high.” Right? Hemsworth is trying to say something positive, mature and pro-woman and Evans keeps interrupting. Evans is the one who needs to make some larger statements about female representation in general, considering his “Black Widow is a complete whore” joke (“joke”) last week (he did apologize for it, but whatever). And yes, it would be interesting to see an all-female Avengers. I bet their periods would sync up! YOU’RE ALL FIRED!

Just in case you were wondering, the Nick Loeb-frozen embryo situation is still a mess. Last year, just months after Loeb and Sofia Vergara broke up, he apparently sued her for full custody of the frozen embryos they had made while together. He claims that she wants to destroy the embryos (there are two girl embryos left). She claims that she’s not going to destroy them, she just wants them kept on ice indefinitely, possibly forever. Loeb is using this issue and this lawsuit to launch himself as some kind of anti-choice “life begins at fertilization” activist. His latest salvo? He’s written an op-ed for the New York Times which is headlined (and this is not a joke): “Sofía Vergara’s Ex-Fiancé: Our Frozen Embryos Have a Right to Live.” Ha, the NYT threw some shade by calling him “Sofia Vergara’s Ex-Fiancé,” right? Here’s the first part of the op-ed:

Last August, I filed a complaint in Santa Monica, Calif., using pseudonyms, to protect two frozen embryos I created with my former fiancée. I wanted to keep this private, but recently the story broke to the world. It has gotten attention not only because of the people involved — my ex is Sofía Vergara, who stars in the ABC series “Modern Family” — but also because embryonic custody disputes raise important questions about life, religion and parenthood.

When we create embryos for the purpose of life, should we not define them as life, rather than as property? Does one person’s desire to avoid biological parenthood (free of any legal obligations) outweigh another’s religious beliefs in the sanctity of life and desire to be a parent? A woman is entitled to bring a pregnancy to term even if the man objects. Shouldn’t a man who is willing to take on all parental responsibilities be similarly entitled to bring his embryos to term even if the woman objects? These are issues that, unlike abortion, have nothing to do with the rights over one’s own body, and everything to do with a parent’s right to protect the life of his or her unborn child.

In 2013, Sofía and I agreed to try to use in vitro fertilization and a surrogate to have children. We signed a form stating that any embryos created through the process could be brought to term only with both parties’ consent. The form did not specify — as California law requires — what would happen if we separated. I am asking to have it voided.

My lawyers have identified 10 other cases in the United States in which a parent tried to have a fertilized, frozen embryo taken to term against the wishes of an opposing parent. In eight of those cases, the parent seeking custody lost. In the other two cases, one in Pennsylvania and one in Illinois, a woman was awarded custody of fertilized embryos over the man’s objections. In both cases, the woman had undergone chemotherapy treatment and the embryos were her last chance to have a biological child; judges ruled that the woman’s interest in becoming a parent outweighed the man’s interest in not becoming a parent. In the Illinois case (now on appeal), the judge found that the form the couple signed was not the binding contract, and instead enforced a verbal promise the man made to help the woman have children.

Many have asked me: Why not just move on and have a family of your own? I have every intention of doing so. But that doesn’t mean I should let the two lives I have already created be destroyed or sit in a freezer until the end of time.

[From The NYT]

Loeb goes on to detail all of the ladies he’s tried to have babies with, including one girlfriend who had an abortion and “the decision was entirely out of my hands.” He provides details of his relationship with Sofia too, saying that when they first met in 2010, he didn’t want to “pressure” her into getting pregnant right away because her career was taking off, but that in 2012, he “began to push for children.” He says that’s when Sofia “insisted that we use a surrogate.” Time passes, the first batch of embryos didn’t take, a couple of years pass and suddenly, “it became clear once more that parenthood was much less urgent for her than it was for me. We had been together for over four years. As I was coming on 40, I gave her an ultimatum. When she refused, we split up.” Oh, so HE dumped HER? That’s his story. He dumped the woman who wouldn’t give him a baby and now he’s trying to get custody of the embryos they made together.

He ends the op-ed by claiming that Sofia’s wish to have the embryos kept on ice indefinitely is “tantamount to killing them” and he takes “the responsibility and obligation of being a parent very seriously. This is not just about saving lives; it is also about being pro-parent.” He also says that he offered Sofia the chance to co-parent the embryos after they broke up, because that’s not a creepy manipulation at all.

Gawker called this “The New York Times Helps Sofia Vergara’s Ex Give Birth to Idiot Opinion.” Word. I think it’s more than just an “idiot opinion.” Loeb is hellbent on making Sofia “pay” for breaking up with him and not wanting to have his children. It is legitimately creepy and this is the kind of scheming manipulator that women should avoid at all costs.

I had the honor of seeing Kristin Beck, a retired Navy SEAL and transgender activist, speak at Virginia Military Institute last night. Kristin, a VMI graduate and international speaker, made headlines in 2013 when she became the first Navy SEAL to come out as transgender. Kristin’s background as a SEAL is impressive and impeccable. She made 13 deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan as part of a special counter-terrorism squad called SEAL Team Six. She is the recipient of a purple heart, bronze star, and multiple other awards and decorations. She was working at the Pentagon when she transitioned, which led to her losing her job. She now travels and does speaking engagements, and she does it spread the word and save lives, not for personal gain. (She didn’t say this so directly, nor did she list her accomplishments. She was very down to earth and focused on her message of acceptance.)

After coming out and publishing her autobiography, Kristin was interviewed by Anderson Cooper. Her story was made into a CNN documentary called Lady Valor. (It’s available on Netflix on demand and I highly recommend it.) She’s a frequent guest on CNN, and told the crowd at VMI that she’s turned down two reality shows and that she regularly says no to “brain candy” interviews. (I guess she’s talking about celebrity outlets. *raises hand*)

Kristin’s message was one of understanding, tolerance and taking time to assess a situation and see a person’s humanity before acting. One of her stories from combat involved deciding in just a few quick seconds not to shoot an armed enemy. She had a gut feeling that she should not shoot or detain a man with a gun whom she encountered during a rooftop sweep. A few days later, the same man ran up to her in a bazaar and she reflexively reached for her gun. Luckily, she had an interpreter with her who told her that the man was thanking her for saving his life. He then hugged her. It turned out that the armed man whose life she had spared was just a carpet salesman. He went on to give her valuable information about other targets.

As a military veteran and a patriot, Kristin told us that fighting for equality and freedom meant fighting for everyone, not some groups at the exclusion of others. She also likened being a transgender woman to having a certain eye color, it’s just who she is.

One of the VMI cadets (students) asked Kristin what she would say about Bruce Jenner that she didn’t say in a recent segment on CNN. She said that he’s delaying his announcement for financial gain, basically.

Even back in the 70s Bruce was very commercial. The thing I would say to Bruce is ‘stop recording’. He’s come out a little bit and he’s given a little information, he’s getting paid, holding back information… there are 3 kids killing themselves every day. Bruce can be a hero. I see someone who has the opportunity to have a thousand times bigger platform than I have. I wish he would have come out and try to save people’s lives instead of just making cash with it. Come out and be a hero.

Later, when I sheepishly admitted that I’m a gossip columnist and asked if I could publish her comments on Jenner, Kristin joked that I shouldn’t have been let in and clarified.

He has a chance to save hundreds of thousands of lives, he has a chance instead of delaying it. Other than that he’s my hero. There are a lot of kids he could save.

I know who the hero is. I met her last night.

I want to add some more wisdom from Kristin. She said that if a friend is coming out to you, don’t tell them that you already knew, let them tell you on their own terms. You can start a conversation with them about a related topic and be open to listening.

If you think your child is “confused” about their sexuality or gender, they’re not the one that’s confused, “you’re confused. Your kid knows exactly what’s going on.

She left us with a quote from the Civil Rights Movement about standing up to bullying and discrimination. “If not us, then who? If not now, then when?

I spend too much time thinking about Benedict Cumberbatch’s living arrangements. I admit that at the very beginning. Bendy owns a place in London and he’s a regular at his parents’ home in the country (he’s even brought journalists there for interviews). But now that he’s all grown up and married with a baby on the way, will Benedict and Sophie Hunter buy themselves a bigger pad in London, plus a small pile in the country, as the English aristocrats do? Well… maybe. There’s a rumor going around that Benedict and Sophie have purchased a home on the Isle of Wight, off the Southern coast of England.

Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife Sophie Hunter have bought a house on the Isle of Wight according to the Mail on Sunday. The newspaper said on Sunday that it could exclusively reveal the Imitation Game and Sherlock star had bought “a pad on the Isle of Wight, near the village where he married theatre director Sophie Hunter in February.”

As reported, Imitation Game and Sherlock star Benedict and theatre director Sophie returned to the Isle of Wight this month, when they were spotted enjoying a romantic meal at the Sun Inn, Hulverstone, the same pub they visited the day after their wedding at Mottistone.

The Mail on Sunday reported Oscar nominee Benedict also recently viewed a £10.8 million house in California and bought a £3 million property in North London.

[From IWCP]

I still don’t believe Benedict was seriously looking at that mansion in LA. I mean, he might have looked at it, but he wasn’t seriously considering a move to LA. But I’ll believe he bought a bigger London home, for sure. He’s going to be working in and around London for likely the next year, doing back-to-back projects (Doctor Strange will be filming in England too). But a little place in the country? Hm. I also wonder just how rich Sophie’s family really is. Her family paid a lot of money for the quickie wedding, and I’m kind of wondering if the wealthy family purchased a little country estate for the newlyweds too. I’m not saying Benedict couldn’t afford it on his own – he could. But I get the feeling he’s pretty cheap and he wouldn’t want a place in the country anyway, considering he’s a workaholic who never takes time off.

Well, here’s a late update on the Alice Eve situation. Earlier this week, Alice Eve went on an Instagram rant about Bruce Jenner’s transition, hijacking the focus on transgender tolerance, acceptance and education to make an ill-worded and offensive “feminist” diatribe about wage equality. I feel like there was some confusion about just what was so offensive, so let me tell you what offended me so much: ALL OF IT. Alice used wording like “playing at being a ‘woman’” to describe a transgender woman. She hijacked an important issue like it was a competition and “wage equality” was MORE important. She behaved as if women or feminists were a monolithic group with a short attention span, like we can’t fight for multiple issues and causes all at the same time. While Alice had to do a series of Instagram posts-and-deletes, she ended up leaving one Instagram with a message about “exploring” gender identity, stopping short of actually apologizing for everything she said previously on her Instagram. But she did issue an apology at some point to Page Six:

Eve tells Page Six in a statement: “I deeply apologize for offending anyone. I support equal rights and equal dignity for all. I have deep compassion and support for Bruce Jenner. My intention was not to offend. My intention was simply to express that, with the overdue and welcome acceptance of us all living on a gender spectrum, we must encourage equality for all.”

[From Page Six]

Pro-Tip: When apologizing for verbal diarrhea that had you excoriated in the press, don’t phrase it with “…for offending anyone.” Just say: “I’m really sorry. I used the wrong words. And I shouldn’t have hijacked an important issue.” Simple, isn’t it?

Pro-Tip: When apologizing for verbal diarrhea that had you excoriated in the press, don’t try to restate the original argument you were making. Plus, no one even believes that Alice Eve’s intention was to “encourage equality for all.” Her original comments were about how she, as a biological female from birth, was categorically MORE oppressed than a transgender woman. Because it’s a competition, apparently.

Pro Tip: If all of this really is a competition for who is the most oppressed among us, a wealthy, educated, heterosexual white woman in the first world is never going to win that competition.

#OneLove

This is our now-daily royal update on how Duchess Kate still isn’t in labor!! First, let me clarify a point that some commenters were discussing/arguing over in yesterday’s royal post. There was some question as to whether Kate “confirmed” her due date, or if she and the royal handlers were “lying” about her due date. So, let’s discuss.

I think William and Kate and the royal team learned a lot from The Great Kate Wait in 2013. As in, they learned that making people “wait” for weeks on end to hear about a baby being born was a terrible thing to do to everyone involved. No one enjoyed the circus-like atmosphere of The Great Kate Wait of 2013. So this time around, Kate and the royal handlers decided to be more specific about her due date in an effort to limit the “wait” and diminish the circus. Kate herself told people quite openly that she was due “mid to late April” and yes, W&K’s people briefed the press with a specific timeline so there wouldn’t be a pack of angry royal correspondents waiting outside the Lindo Wing on April 20th. I don’t believe Kate “lied” about her due date. I think her due date was one week ago and she’s simply overdue. Further proof: I don’t think William would have taken off for paternity leave last week if he didn’t truly believe that the baby was coming a week ago.

As for the new info… word is, parking rules outside the Lindo Wing have been extended until May 5th, meaning the royals concede the wait could be longer. People Magazine (and other outlets) theorize that Kate will be induced when she’s 12 days overdue and many doctors believe that when a woman passes 14 days overdue, she should be induced.

Apparently, Will & Kate spent their fourth anniversary at Buckingham Palace with the Queen. Kate drove! And Prince George stayed at Kensington Palace with the nanny. The theory is that Kate has been using the BP pool to try to kickstart labor. Many OB/GYNs offer tips on how to start labor, ranging from eating spicy food, going for a long walk, swimming and… sex. William better step up to the plate and have sex with his wife.
