Congratulations are in order for Matthew Settle and Maria Alfonsin.
The Gossip Girl alum, 45, and his girlfriend are expecting their first child together, Us reports.
While Settle has been mum about the pregnancy, his former costar Kelly Rutherford spilled the beans this week in NYC.
The actress was listing off the celebrities that will attend her upcoming charity event, for the Children’s Justice Campaign, scheduled for May 12.
“Marcia Cross, Ed Westwick, Vivica Fox, Selma Blair, and Lisa Rinna are all hosting. And Marianne Williamson and Lisa Bloom are speaking,” Rutherford told the mag. “I’m hoping Matthew can make it. He’s getting ready to have a baby, so I don’t know.”
Settle is best known for playing Rufus Humphrey on Gossip Girl.
He is already dad to 6-year-old daughter Aven with his ex-wife Naama Nativ.
Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie covers the May issue of New York Family and opens up about family life with husband, public relations and communications consultant Michael Feldman, and their 8-month-old daughter Vale.
On motherhood: “In my mind, of course, I always thought and hoped and wanted to have kids, but I never knew what it would be like to actually be a mom. I came home yesterday and she put her hands up and was jumping up and down in her highchair, just so excited to see me—I was like, ‘I feel like a celebrity because Vale recognizes me and knows me!’”
On being pregnant on TV: “Of course, it’s not easy, necessarily, as your body is changing, and you’re getting bigger and bigger, and you’re in the eighth month of pregnancy, and you’re like: ‘What am I going to wear today?’ And you’re doing that on national TV—so there were some days that were better than others, but mostly it added a real something special to the whole experience.”
On her best advice to new moms: “Just try to be gentle on yourself. Especially in New York, we have a lot of working moms and moms who have been successful in careers. We’re used to understanding a problem and executing a strategy at work. And then you’re at home with this little baby, and it’s just a whole new area and you know nothing about it, and you feel so helpless and you wish you could reason your way out of this situation—and you can’t! You just have to trust that you know as much about this, and about your baby, as anybody else. Don’t worry so much—that would be my best advice. I’d like to take it, too!”

Mom-of-two Jessica Alba posed for pics at The Honest Company at Target one-year anniversary event on Wednesday (April 29) in Los Angeles, Calif.
“I don’t have any tricks,” Alba told TODAY at the event. “I just feel guilty all the time and I feel like I’m never doing the right thing,” she said about trying to balance her career and motherhood.
Although she does have one tried and true trick up her sleeve.
“I just pray that my kids are happy,” she said of daughters Honor, 6 1/2 and Haven, 3 1/2.
“If they’re giggling more than they’re crying, and if they’re curious and talkative, then I know they’re good,” she added. “And if that ever stops, and if I see that there’s a problem, then I stop everything and focus on that. That’s my litmus test on whether I’m extending myself too much or spreading myself too thin.”
As for her hopes for her daughters, the A-list mom is keeping things in perspective.
“I just want them to be kind. I actually only care about that more than anything,” she said. “And have empathy. And compassion. Have a bigger perspective. That, more than anything, is the most important thing for our kids.”
When Us asked Alba about her diet and fitness tips, the Sin City star, 34, says it’s all about moderation.
“I try to eat fairly healthy as far as like organic and fresh, but I don’t stay away from any foods,” Alba said. “I don’t eat a lot of processed foods — maybe that’s kind of the biggest thing — but it’s not like I never eat processed. Like, I love chips, and I love snacks and stuff, I just don’t eat a lot of it.”
As for getting her girls to eat their fruits and veggies, the actress says she tries her best.
“I make them just try it, even if they don’t like it,” Alba dished. “Honor is like ‘I don’t like mushrooms,’ and I’m like, ‘Well, just have one bite’…I just figure if I keep, once a week or once every other week, have her at least try it again and try it again and try it again, maybe we’ll have a break through moment.”
She added: “But, it’s not an option for them to eat vegetables. It’s like you have to eat vegetables in your meal somehow…or else you’re gonna be in deep trouble!”
