Tom Cruise attended last night’s Giorgio Armani 40th anniversary party in Milan. Other celebrities, like a sockless Chris Pine and a dapper Boy George (wearing Pharrell’s hat), came out too. Leonardo DiCaprio showed up and managed to keep a low profile (perhaps due to chatting up models). Tom posed for countless selfies with other guests. No matter what we hear about Scientology, Tom keeps coming out ahead with fans.
It’s worth noting that Tom made a special point of taking “some time off from his hectic work schedule” for this event. He managed to fly into Italy, although he hasn’t seen his own daughter in over a year. Tom made a grand entrance with Giorgio’s niece, Roberta Armani, on his arm. They look cozy, right? Tom probably wishes he could land Roberta, but hobnobbing with Armani-clad celebs is part of her job. A few years ago, The Telegraph praised Roberta as being an incredible asset to the Armani empire. She “shows up to hold Anne Hathaway’s hand through fitting after fitting” and has helped David Beckham on his Armani shopping trips. She’s paid to make celebrities feel comfortable, and Tom feels uncomfortable without a woman on his arm.
So I’m sure there’s nothing coupley going on here, but don’t get me wrong. I’d have a field-gossip day if Tom and Roberta actually became a thing. She must know better though. The LA Times notes how charitable Roberta is and how she’s “become a lot more than Giorgio’s niece. She’s become a force in her own right.” Roberts has no problem acting as “good Armani-clad arm candy” for the celebrities who wear the label. Tom would love to land Roberta, who is well-respected but would never overshadow the Tom show.

I had the chance to read People Magazine’s cover article about Bruce Jenner’s transition. As reported earlier today, last night I attended a talk by renowned transgender activist and Navy SEAL, Kristin Beck. Beck’s story was briefly highlighted in Bruce’s 20/20 interview, in which he made the announcement that he’s transitioning to a woman. Beck told an audience of a couple of hundred people that she wished Jenner would just “come out and be a hero” instead of parceling out information about his transition for financial gain. (As far as we know, Jenner was not paid for his 20/20 interview although her point was that he is saving information for his reality show.) To be clear: Beck was asked a direct question about what she hasn’t said to the press about Jenner. She believed she was making these statements to an audience of mostly military personnel and cadets. While I did obtain permission to publish her comments, she did not intend to publicly shame Jenner or call him out and she did call him her “hero”.
The People article attempts to explain why Jenner is somewhat gradually coming out. It must be frustrating for those in the trenches of the transgender movement, but Jenner has personal (as well as monetary) reasons for revealing his transition in stages. According to People, his older kids and two first wives are understanding of his transition, but his most recent ex- wife, Kris, his youngest two daughters and some of the other Kardashians are still coming to terms with everything. (He’s said on 20/20 that Khloe is definitely struggling.) Here are some excerpts from the print article pertaining to Kris, with much more in the print edition. People has more online about the divide between the Kardashians and Jenners.
Sources say the Kardashian matriarch never grasped the implications of what her future husband was saying [about his gender identity]. “She never knew Bruce wanted to be a woman,” insists the Kardashian source. “She thought he had a little quirk, and he asked her to keep it secret all those years, so she did.”
In fact, even before they wed, the Jenner insider says, Kris reached out to Bruce’s two ex-wives… “Kris assured them that she knew about ‘the issue,’” says the source. “She tried to reassure them that this was just a phase and he was over it now. She was aware his body had changed, she knew he [had been] pursuing gender reassignment. But she thought it was just a phase and that she could ‘fix’ him.” It was only after years of marriage that “it started coming to the surface more for Bruce,” says the Kardashian source. “That’s when things started to unravel…”
Although Jenner had taken hormones for years, undergone full body electrolysis and even told her about some of his feelings, Kris “had no idea it was this deep,” says a Kardashian source. “Bruce is a bit of a loner and kept it to himself. It because a ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell’ sort of thing. When Jenner did reveal the truth, “it shook her,” he revealed to Sawyer.

As Kaiser reported yesterday, Kris was full of lies when she tried to claim that ABC never contacted her for a comment about Bruce. She was contacted, ABC confirmed that, and she decided not to say anything until after the fact, when she was supportive. Maybe she’s too close to the situation, maybe she is still in denial and her feelings are too raw. This is something that’s hard to fault her for on one hand, because it must be an incredibly difficult situation. On the other hand Kris is one of the most media-savvy women in the business and she knew about this for years and chose to ignore it. Even if she was hurt and upset, she knew that this interview was coming and she could have been more supportive. With Kris, you wonder if she’s more upset that she’s not in control of the story, though.
Here’s a photo that Bruce’s second wife, Linda Thompson, Instagrammed of Bruce with her and his first wife, Chrystie Scott. Linda revealed that her Huffington Post essay is an excerpt from her upcoming memoir. Like Linda, Chrystie has had many positive things to say about Bruce.

Jennifer Aniston has been in NYC for several days now. These are photos of Aniston out last night – she went out to dinner at Blue Hill, again with Jason Bateman and his wife. She was also spotted out with them on Tuesday night, dining at Omar’s. In these pics, Aniston has been described by some outlets as looking like she’s having a rough night. I don’t think so? She probably had a few drinks, but she’s not fall-down drunk. And it was windy, which is why her hair is all over the place.
Should we discuss the leather pants? I don’t mind the leather pants. I didn’t know she had it in her, honestly. Justin Theroux might have converted her – Justin has worn leather pants before, although he does seem to prefer skinny jeans and JORTS. I actually like Jennifer’s whole outfit here, that sweater is the bomb. My only minor complaint is that I don’t like the “matte” look of her boots side-by-side with the shiny leather pants. That’s one of my big issues with wearing leather or vinyl pants (I had and loved vinyl pants in college): what is the best footwear? I think boots are fine, but you do have to make sure that the black of the boots and the black of your leather pants “go” together.
As for Justin Theroux… where is he? Some say he’s in Rome working on Zoolander 2. Some say he’s in Texas filming The Leftovers Season 2. Season 2 doesn’t air until September so… I don’t know what to tell you. I do think Justin and Jennifer are having issues, but she’s still wearing her ring in these photos.

Actress Sharon Stone was all smiles with son Quinn, 9, in Los Angeles, Calif. on Wednesday (April 29).
The Basic Instinct star, 57, looked lovely in a floral print dress paired with flats and shades. Meanwhile, her youngest son kept in causal in track pants and a white T-shirt.
The mother-son duo stopped by a magazine stand during their outing, where the Casino actress treated her boy to a Simpsons comic book.

The single mom is the new face of Galderma dermatology, which offers facial fillers and anti-wrinkle treatments.

At this point, I’m actually starting to worry that there’s something wrong with Robert Downey Jr. I’ve been covering him for years, and while there’s always been a cockiness, he’s been able to “keep it real” too. RDJ has always been mercurial and moody, of course. But “mercurial” doesn’t explain the epic clusterf—k of offensive words and behavior coming out RDJ during this tour. Yesterday, we discussed RDJ’s terrible Howard Stern interview, where he finally commented in-depth about walking out on the interview with Krishnan Guru-Murthy. The words RDJ used were… inappropriate.
But Stern didn’t ask RDJ about his comments last week regarding Alejandro Inarritu – go here to recap the whole story. The basic gist: a Guardian journalist fed RDJ some months-old quotes that Inarritu made about superhero films in general and how they are a “cultural genocide.” RDJ’s response? “I respect the hell out of him. I think for a man whose native tongue is Spanish to be able to put together a phrase like cultural genocide just speaks to how bright he is.” Which many took as racism-tinged shade. As I have said a few times in the days following that incident, RDJ still hasn’t said one word about it. No apologies, no explanations. Until now. When he got his publicist to cover his ass.
Robert Downey Jr. intended to be complimentary with a statement about Mexican-born director Alejandro Inarritu that some have interpreted as racist, the actor’s publicist said Wednesday.
“Taken in the proper context of the interview, it is intended to be, and is, complimentary,” said Downey Jr.’s publicist Alan Nierob.
A representative for Inarritu did not immediately respond to request for comment.

We actually saw RDJ’s response in context, because pretty much every site embedded the video (as I did again below). You can see RDJ say that he “respects the hell” out of Inarritu, just before he basically says that most Spanish-speakers are morons and Inarritu is the rare one who can put together a phrase like “cultural genocide.” I’ve already ranted about this last week, so don’t get me started again. It’s so patronizing and white-privilege-y to say anything along the lines of “wow, your English is great!” UGGGGHHHH.
What interests me is that RDJ’s publicist had to come out here and say something. And it’s not even an apology, it’s just a half-assed, no-one-will-believe-it-but-we-have-to-say-something clarification. What’s wrong, RDJ? Did someone get pissy and refuse to actually say the words “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that”?

In a new Instagram video, actress Alyssa Milano shares an adorable clip of her two kids: son Milo, 3½, and daughter Elizabella, 7 months.
“Too precious not to post. Her brother makes her so happy,” the Who’s The Boss? alum, 42, captioned the video of her giggly girl.
Earlier this month, the proud nursing mama spoke out about bottles of her breastmilk that were confiscated at the Heathrow Airport in London, England.
Heathrow responded via Twitter, writing, “Hi Alyssa. Unfortunately, without a baby present, the government requires all liquids in carry-ons to follow the 100ml rule.”

Khloe Kardashian covers the new issue of Cosmo Body. The photoshoot happened before Khloe went blonde (or blonder than she is here). I don’t have much to say about the cover, but you can see the rest of the NSFW-ish shoot here. It’s always a bad idea to get on all fours with your Pinocchio Butt in the air in front of a camera. Someone should needlepoint that on a pillow. As for the interview, Khloe talks about body image, plastic surgery, working out and Lamar drama. Some highlights:
Body image in the public eye: “On my Instagram page people comment saying ‘I liked you better when you were bigger’ and I think, ‘Thank God I don’t live my life for other people because I’d be in a constant tug of war.’”
She never felt fat: “I have never felt ‘fat’ I just didn’t realize how unhealthy I was until I look back at pictures. In the moment I felt so beautiful and I remember walking down red carpets with my make-up done in a little sparkly dress and I thought I was so cute. I had all this confidence.”
She started going to the gym to deal with her Lamar issues: “I decided to channel my energy into working out…if I went out with my girlfriends I would be hounded by paparazzi and made to feel more humiliated. The gym was my only refuge. I could put music on and dance around with my girlfriends and be silly.”
On plastic surgery: “If you want to do a tweak, I’m all for it, but you have to love yourself first because no surgery is going to change your heart. It would have been such an easy solution to get liposuction or whatever, but you have to be healthy to maintain that. I’ve always felt like ‘Wouldn’t it be great to accomplish that on your own?’”
[From Cosmopolitan]
I think the knives would be out for her no matter what she says about plastic surgery. And I respect her more for not issuing a flat-out denial, because she would looks SO stupid if she was all, “OMG, my lips and my Pinocchio Butt are all natural, you guys.” No one would believe her. So, Khloe gets tweaked. She got a big fake butt and big lips out of nowhere. Maybe some nose work too. But I don’t think she did lipo. Now, Kim on the other hand? I think Kim has gotten and continues to get lipo and “maintenance” stuff.
Here are some photos of Khloe at the gym yesterday. Pinocchio Butt!!!!!!!!! It looks even bigger than before. I just don’t understand… anything. I don’t “get” the Pinocchio Butt.
