New mom, activist, and former first daughter Chelsea Clinton covers the May issue of Elle and opens up about women’s rights and family life husband Marc Mezvinsky and their 6-month-old daughter Charlotte.

On how motherhood has changed her: “Marc and I are like, ‘What did we do before we were parents?’ My whole life is reoriented around my daughter in the most blessed sense. I now understand—this is something else that Marc and I talk about all the time—all of the enthusiastic, bombastically spectacular, wonderful things people say about their children, because we also feel and think all those things about Charlotte—that she is just the most remarkable little bubbly, perfect, chunky monkey creature ever.”

On continuing to fight for women’s rights: “We’ve made real progress on legal protections for women, but in no way are women at parity to men in our country in the workplace. And if we look in the political sphere, it is challenging to me that women comprising 20 percent of Congress is treated as a real success. Since when did 20 percent become the definition of equality?”

On the importance of having a woman president: “And so when you ask about the importance of having a woman president, absolutely it’s important, for, yes, symbolic reasons—symbols are important; it is important who and what we choose to elevate, and to celebrate. And one of our core values in this country is that we are the land of equal opportunity, but when equal hasn’t yet included gender, there is a fundamental challenge there that, I believe, having our first woman president—whenever that is—will help resolve. And do I think [having a woman as commander in chief] would make a substantive difference? Yes, we’ve seen again and again, when women have been in positions of leadership, they have had different degrees of success versus their male counterparts, historically being able to build more consensus so that decisions have longer-term effects, whether in economic investments or in building social capital. Who sits around the table matters. And who sits at the head of the table matters, too.”

Academy Award-winning actress Reese Witherspoon covers the May issue of InStyle and opens up about the “Southern Mafia” that helps her raise her three kids: daughter Ava, 15, and sons Deacon, 11, and Tennessee, 2.

On her close circle of friends: “I learned a few years ago that there are people who don’t want good things for you. You’ve got to get away from them. Now I surround myself with supportive friends. I have a close group of girlfriends I call my Southern Mafia. One’s from Oklahoma, one’s from Arkansas, another’s from Tennessee. I get a lot out of my relationships with them. Parenting, getting through your marriage, getting through your day, these are hard things, and I find solace in the fact that other people struggle with the same stuff I do. We all have concerns about our kids, our marriage, our dreams.”

On taking on strong roles: “I grew up seeing incredibly strong women like Holly Hunter, Sigourney Weaver and Debra Winger. I want to ensure that my 15-year-old daughter, Ava, grows up seeing those types of strong women playing complicated parts.”

On working with Sofia Vergara in the upcoming comedy Hot Pursuit: “As soon as I met Sofia, I said, ‘I want to make a movie with you.’ I think she’s the next Lucille Ball. We represent two completely different cultures and kinds of women, but we just love each other. We laughed so much. I couldn’t understand what she was saying half the time. She couldn’t understand what I was saying half the time. But we both love cake, clothes, kids and our families.”

On Thursday, proud nursing mama Alyssa Milano spoke out about bottles of her breastmilk that were confiscated at the Heathrow Airport in London, England.

After Retweeting Celebrity Baby Scoop’s coverage on this story, the Who’s The Boss? alum, 42, made an official statement about the incident.

“I realize there are much larger issues going on in the world,” Milano tells Us Weekly. “And I don’t want to turn this into a bigger issue than it is but I will say this … breastfeeding my children has been one of the greatest joys of my life.”

“Every ounce of milk I’m able to produce for my child is nothing short of a miracle and to watch that milk be thrown away without any regard for my baby, was heartbreaking,” she continues. “It’s not the fault of the security in the airport; they’re following orders to keep us all safe. But I do I feel it is a policy that needs thoughtful reconsideration. I’m glad this has started a dialogue. My only hope is to make things easier for moms, breastfeeding and formula feeding moms, everywhere.”

The actress – mom to daughter Elizabella Dylan, 7 months, and son Milo Thomas, 3½ – also shared a few updated Tweets.

Fellow celebrity mom, True Blood star Anna Paquin, went on to RT Celebrity Baby Scoop’s coverage on this story. As well, she shared a few supportive Tweets.

As reported, Heathrow responded via Twitter, writing, “Hi Alyssa. Unfortunately, without a baby present, the government requires all liquids in carry-ons to follow the 100ml rule.”

The Mistresses actress has been an outspoken advocate for nursing moms. Last month, Alyssa shared a breastfeeding photo while at work with her baby girl.

And that isn’t the first time we’ve seen a pro-breastfeeding image from the mom-of-two. In February, the actress shared a breastfeeding selfie with her sweet tot.

Also, she shared a nursing photo in November, and a breastfeeding selfie in October.

It sounds like Blake Lively’s newborn daughter has officially joined the sisterhood.

The actress and her husband, The Voices star Ryan Reynolds, crowned her three Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants costars — Amber Tamblyn, America Ferrera, and Alexis Bledel — as godmothers to daughter James.

During a recent appearance on Nick Lachey’s VH1?s Morning Buzz Live show, Tamblyn confirmed the happy news.

“You’re still very close with your…costars and the three of you are godmothers to Blake Lively’s baby — is that a fact?” Lachey asked the actress. “Yes, that is a fact,” Tamblyn confirmed, sending the audience into applause.

Lively and Reynolds have not released any photos of their firstborn child, but Reynolds recently confirmed her name.

“It’s Butternut Summer Squash,” he joked, and then confirmed: “It’s James. Everyone knows.”

The private couple — who welcomed James in late December — were hesitant to share her name in the past, but the actor went on to explain his silence.

“I didn’t want to be the first guy screaming it out to the media,” he shares. “Because as we know, little girls turn into teenage girls and little teenage girls sometimes scan through the archives and go, ‘Why did you do that?’ ”
