At some point, it really feels like people stopped giving a crap about Josh Hartnett (probably when he started looking like Ashton Kutcher, amirite?). About 14 years ago, he was the next big thing, the bad boy/heartthrob/Brando/James Dean. That was how he was billed, that was the press around him. Then he made some terrible career decisions and he spent a lot less time in LA and NYC. And people sort of forgot about him. He’s currently in Showtime’s Penny Dreadful, and he’s promoting the new season by sitting down for a strangely accusatory Playboy 20 Questions. Like, half the piece is the Playboy interviewer grilling Josh about all of the parts he could have had if only he had made smarter career choices. Just FYI: Josh talked about some of this stuff last year in Details, like how he was offered Superman, Spiderman and Batman. In this Playboy piece, the focus is mainly on how Christopher Nolan wanted him for Batman.

Why he turned down Batman, Superman and Spider-Man: “The intensity of my sudden fame was overwhelming for me, and in the middle of that, I felt I couldn’t trust any new person I met or their motives. I spent a lot of time back home in Minnesota with my friends and family. I did smaller movies, and I stopped working for a while. If I could go back and take with me my wisdom of today, I wish I’d been more resilient. I hope I wouldn’t be as panicked as I was. Maybe I’d have known that no matter what people try to take from you, you don’t have to give it to them. I’ve definitely grown a bit.

The blowback of saying ‘no’ to Christopher Nolan: “I’ve definitely said no to some of the wrong people. I said no because I was tired and wanted to spend more time with my friends and family. That’s frowned upon in this industry. People don’t like being told no. I don’t like it. I learned my lesson when [writer-director] Christopher Nolan and I talked about Batman. I decided it wasn’t for me. Then he didn’t want to put me in The Prestige. They not only hired their Batman for it, they also hired my girlfriend at the time…That’s when I realized relationships were formed in the fire of that first Batman film and I should have been part of the relationship with this guy Nolan, who I felt was incredibly cool and very talented. I was so focused on not being pigeonholed and so scared of being considered only one thing as an actor. I should have thought, Well, then, work harder, man. Watching Christian Bale go on to do so many other things has been just awesome. I mean, he’s been able to overcome that. Why couldn’t I see that at the time?

Working with Ben Affleck back in the day: “In what universe does Ben Affleck win an Academy Award for a best picture he starred in and directed? I knew he had it in him to do whatever he wanted to do. Ben has always been the smartest guy, but he holds that in reserve for some reason.”

Why he’s dated so many co-stars: “I think it’s a respectable way of going about it. I’ve met very important people in my life doing films. Sometimes that had consequences that were just awful for everybody involved. Some were fantastic all the way through. Everybody makes mistakes dating people they work with. They’re whom I’m attracted to because I share experiences with them and understand a bit about what they are and what they do. If I were able to go back in time, I don’t know if I could have done anything any different.

I feel like Josh made that “why do you date costars?” question unnecessarily complicated. Lots of actors date costars, it’s a pretty normal thing. As for the stuff about Nolan… I didn’t realize how far Hartnett got into the process of casting Batman. Do you think Nolan really took it out on him for saying no? Probably, although I would imagine Nolan has a different version of events. I don’t blame directors for not giving Hartnett much time after he refused major projects – the attitude among directors must be, “Hey, he doesn’t want to be a star, so don’t give any project that would make him a star.”

Oh, and that’s Tamsin Egerton in the background – that’s his girlfriend. I think they’re living together now. They were costars on a film that has never been released.

A-list couple David Beckham and Victoria Beckham hit the Burberry fashion show and after-party in Los Angeles, Calif. on Thursday (April 16).

Posh and Becks had front row seats, and brought along their entire brood: sons Brooklyn, 16, Romeo, 12, and Cruz, 10, and 3½-year-old daughter Harper. With his daughter on his knee, the famous footballer, 39, sat next to Anna Wintour at the event.

Also filling the front row were Elton John, Mila Kunis, James Corden, Aaron Paul, Cara Delevingne, Suki Waterhouse, Jaime King, Rose Byrne, January Jones, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Jason Statham, Rachel Zoe, Ryan Seacrest, Kate Beckinsale, Dylan Penn, Tom Felton and Adrian Grenier.

The Beckham’s oldest son live-Instagrammed from the event, and shared some shots with a few of the high-profile guests.

As well, Brooklyn recently posted a pic with his parents at the Jay-Z and Beyoncé concert, and another photo with “mums friend” Rachel Zoe.

The day before, Victoria and Harper hit the launch of her Spring 2015 collection at Barneys New York. The singer-turned-fashion designer turns 41 today (April 17)!

This is Britt McHenry. She’s an ESPN reporter, although if you told me she moonlighted as a Fox News Blonde-Bot, I would believe you. She has that look, like she’s Megyn Kelly’s little sister or something. Anyway, Britt McHenry is in some hot water. She was having dinner in Arlington, Virginia and she apparently was parked in a tow-area. So her car got towed. So she had to go to the tow place to get her car, and she ended up berating the female tow truck operator or the woman who runs this particular tow place. That’s never happened to me – my car has never been towed. I can imagine it’s crazy, infuriating, and that I would bitch out anyone and anything as well. But I can’t say that I would go full-throttle DIVA like Britt McHenry.

My take, and I realize this won’t be a popular opinion: if you want to call this tow truck employee “shady” or yell about how your car should have never been towed, I think that’s fair game. Like, if you have a legitimate gripe, say it. Bitch about it. But Britt went WAY too far, talking about this woman’s weight (“Lose some weight, baby girl”), education (“So I could be a college dropout and do the same thing?”) and even pulling the don’t-you-know-who-I-am card (“I’m in the news, sweetheart, I will f–king sue this place”)

What ended up happening is that ESPN suspended Britt for a week. She also made a public apology on her Twitter:

In an intense and stressful moment, I allowed my emotions to get the best of me and said some insulting and regrettable things. As frustrated as I was, I should always choose to be respectful and take the high road. I am so sorry for my actions and will learn from this mistake.

Birdman star Naomi Watts and her husband, Ray Donovan actor Liev Schreiber, had a blast with their boys – Sasha, 7, and Kai, 6 – last weekend in Brentwood, Calif. After riding their bikes to the park, the group enjoyed a round of baseball and played on the playground.

Following that fun, the Watts-Schreibers headed to their local farmers’ market to pick up some fresh produce for the week. While there, the family-of-four stopped to visit with the animals before heading home.

The mom-of-two, 46, is currently filming Demolition with Jake Gyllenhaal. Meanwhile, Schreiber, 47, continues to play the lead role in the Showtime series Ray Donovan.

Next up, Watts will star in Shut In, a psychological thriller which tells the story of a woman trying to raise her catatonic son on her own, only to suddenly discover a shocking secret about him.

The PR people for Shutterfly sent us these photos of Jenna Dewan Tatum with two beautiful dogs. These aren’t Jenna and Channing’s actual dogs; they’re rescue dogs available from Hope For Paws animal rescue, which has a network of foster homes for pups centered in Los Angeles. Shutterfly is promoting their new pet accessories line, which offers custom photo tags, bowls and pet placemats. (No one paid us for this ad, I just saw puppies and got distracted.) Kaiser, Bedhead and I were oohing and ahhing over how adorable these dogs are. They picked the prettiest dogs for this shoot, and the most heartbreaking. I was going to make this story about Jenna explaining how she got her two dogs used to her newborn baby, but I found the rescue information for these dogs and I think we should talk about that instead. Both of them have incredible backstories.

The female Old English Sheepdog Jenna is cuddling, Shayna, was rescued wandering near some railroad tracks. I found her rescue video and it’s making me cry. (Seriously, you may want to wait to watch this until you’re alone or with people you don’t mind seeing you cry.) When they found Shayna, she couldn’t even see because her fur was so overgrown. They gave her a bath, cleaned her up and found her a good foster home. (They were able to locate her former owners, who said they could no longer care for her. Of course they couldn’t, how could anyone do this?) As far as I know, Shayna still looking for a forever home but I bet she gets adopted quickly.

The rescue video for this pitbull, Thor, is not posted yet but Hope for Paws shared his story on their Facebook page. He was found earlier this month living among piles of debris in a construction site. This is an actual photo of where Thor was found.

CrAzY rescue!!! I have no idea why any stray dog would pick this dangerous spot, but THOR did, and it made this rescue quite difficult. Hope For Paws did the rescue and we will of course handle his medical care. Our friends from LA Animal Rescue.org will begin fostering him next week, and together we will find him an amazing home! Hope for Paws’ Flickr has photos of Thor being rescued and given a bath. Eldad writes “Thor was covered with fleas, ticks, and dirt. We gave him a bath, and in the next couple of days he will move to his foster home (after he will be neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and have his injured paw taken care of medically). This kid is so cute and so happy now.”

I’m kind of glad that Thor doesn’t have a rescue video up yet or I would be bawling. Kudos to Hope For Paws and all their volunteers and foster parents for all the work that they do on behalf of these loving dogs. Here are some photos of Pippa Middleton out and about in London yesterday. I would theorize that she’s coming from or going to work, but Pippa doesn’t work in the traditional sense. She just sort of vacations and eats out and works out, and she writes about her Pippa adventures for various publications. Which brings me to Pippa’s latest scandal. In one of her latest columns/essays for The Telegraph, Pippa wrote about how she tried whale carpaccio during a recent vacation in Norway. “Whale carpaccio” as in “smoked whale meat.” Yeah, so PETA has some problems.

Pippa Middleton may want to wear a disguise if she’s ever in the vicinity of PETA’s London office. In her column for the Daily Telegraph, Kate Middleton’s younger sister recalled trying smoked whale carpaccio (i.e. smoked-but-uncooked whale meat) during a recent trip to Norway.
Pippa noted benignly that the whale tasted “similar to smoked salmon but looks more like venison carpaccio.”

Well, as you might be able to guess, animal rights groups—and PETA in particular—are finding her culinary adventure particularly distasteful.

“Pippa is not known for common sense or compassion, but it still beggars belief that anyone, let alone someone from a country like ours, where whale meat has long been banned, could be oblivious to the uproar over Norway’s slaughter of these gentle giants,” Elisa Allen, associate director of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals U.K., said Thursday in an exclusive statement to E! News. “Does she think or read? What’s next, a panda steak or an elephant canapé? These whales are harpooned and bled to death before they’re gutted. If Pippa is looking for a culinary experience, some of the best high-end vegan food—recently named by Forbes magazine as a top food trend—can be found in Norway, and it’s good for the heart, an organ Pippa seems to lack.”

Maybe this makes me a bad, uninspired person, but I’ve never had the desire to try any of the food that’s “banned” in America or any country. I don’t have a super-adventurous palate in the first place, but you would have to pay me to try whale carpaccio. And yes, whale meat is banned in the UK and America and many other countries. I guess not in Norway. Should we just chalk this up to “when in Rome”? Or should Pippa watch what she eats and writes about?
