I’ll readily admit to pegging Zoe Saldana wrong as a celebrity mom. Perhaps it’s still too early to judge whether or not she’ll be judgy, but so far, Zoe’s been chill. Perhaps that’s because she’s so exhausted by the task of caring for twin baby boys. Zoe and Marco Perego welcomed their sons in November and waited to announce the names, Bowie and Cy, in January. Zoe looked tired but glorious at the Oscars. She was a bit curvier than usual, but the extra few pounds looked nice on her frame.
Zoe’s been having a tough time. Yesterday’s episode of GMA detailed her struggle to get back into shape. Zoe didn’t appear on the show, but her trainer (Steve Moyer) popped in for her. You can see the (autoplay) clip here, which discusses Zoe’s 70-pound weight gain during pregnancy. Moyer talks about planks (which I hate-love) and other core strength exercises to rebuild the body. The segment points towards Zoe’s weekend Facebook post, in which she reveals her ongoing health issues and a struggle to get back into fighting shape:
As you all know, we welcomed twin boys last November. Yes, by far, the most amazing experience of my life, but also a very challenging experience when it pertains to my body. I’m sure moms across the world (and dads sometimes) can identify with what I’m about to say.
Your body changes dramatically, inside and out. You grow in places you never knew you could, and you are tired beyond belief. In some cases more than others, your body experiences a kind of trauma through childbirth that is difficult to explain unless you’ve had that experience. My case was like that, everything from my thyroid to my platelets crashed. Thank God, we are all doing great now, but my body was really bent out of shape after the boys were born. Bouncing back feels impossible, but I know it is important as a woman, and now a mommy, to not give up. I am determined to get my energy back and find balance for my body before these little guys start walking, and before I go back to work ….. my clock is ticking!
2 months ago I started my journey, and its been REAL- I’m not gonna lie- it is slow …. painful … and frustrating. But it is worth it.
And that is why I’m here… I know many of you have gone through this or are going through it as we speak. Let’s do it together. Let’s talk about it, hear each other out, and seek advice when we need it. I have my friend of many years and trainer, Steve Moyer that will be guiding me and sometimes training me for the next 2 months before I go back to work. I will be sharing with you what I do, what I eat and how I feel about it in hopes that it will be of any help to you. cool?
I started in January with Moyer. I was 160lbs (at the peak of my pregnancy I reached 185lbs). I had no flexibility, weak joints, and exercising was painful. We started with just walking, I think I only walked that first month. I did however change the way I eat. I began to make better choices with my food. Moyer was instrumental at this point. he gave me great tips of what to eat, how much water to drink, he even gave me some recipes of his own sometimes. It was important for me to learn this so I can do it on my own if I have to. I want to prove to myself that if I have the right determination I can do anything.
Crap, boys are up from their naps! gotta go!
I’m looking fwd to sharing this journey with you…

GMA talks about how Zoe’s struggle “humanizes” her, and I agree. Before she became pregnant, Zoe came off as full of herself. Now she’s going through something that many mothers have experienced. The platelet crash and thyroid problems sound particularly scary, right? I don’t think Zoe’s positioning herself as a future internet curator. She’s not out to profit directly from mom-based products and discussions. Zoe’s already got her plate full with twins and three ongoing movie franchises. She’ll be doing more Avatar and Guardians and Star Trek flicks. Her goal is to return to her butt-kicking best, and it’s a lot of pressure. I feel for her having to bounce back from twins so quickly, but … Hollywood.
Zoe also talked to Us Weekly last week about how she’s not looking forward to leaving the twins for work. She said, “I’m pretty sure that every parent — not just every mom– would [take time off] as long as your work doesn’t suffer. But we have to pay bills and at the end of the day, I think that’s the best example we can set to our children.” Zoe says that it takes three people (herself, Marco, and a nanny) to take care of twins. Sounds exhausting.

Grammy Award-winning singer Kelly Clarkson covers the May issue of Redbook with 10-month-old daughter River Rose. The American Idol alum, 32, talks about healthy body image and married life with husband Brandon Blackstock.
On the body-shaming she’s experienced: “I don’t obsess about my weight, which is probably one of the reasons why other people have such a problem with it… There are just some people who are born skinny and with a great metabolism—that is not me. I wish I had a better metabolism. But someone else probably wishes they could walk into a room and make friends with everyone like I can. You always want what someone else has.
On putting her marriage first: “I always swore ours would not be a relationship where we have to schedule sex. That is never going to happen. We put each other first. I call it the oxygen-mask mentality—take care of yourself first.”
On her views of a healthy relationship: “Brandon is not my other half. He’s a whole and I’m a whole. I’ve never believed in someone taking care of me, and that’s probably because I grew up poor and without a lot of family stability.”

Part III of the LA premiere of The Avengers: Age of Ultron. I’m running out of things to say about this premiere, people! I miss Tom Hiddleston. I wish Hiddles had come out just for the premiere. He wouldn’t have had to do press, I just wanted to see him bro-out with Chris Hemsworth and the gang. Anyway, here we’ve got Aaron Taylor Johnson and his wife Sam Taylor Johnson. Aaron is one of the new Avengers, Quicksilver. Quicksilver has a weird accent and a bad wig, but I’m sure it will be fine. Sam looks pretty in pink, doesn’t she? I sort of like that they come out for each other’s premieres. Weirdly, they have one of the strongest marriages in celebrity-ville.
Julie Delpy is playing some mystery character. I like that she basically just threw on a chic sack dress over a pair of pants. I wish Angelina Jolie would try this kind of sack-chic.
Anthony Mackie is so hot. Just don’t pay attention to the sexist stuff that comes out of his mouth. He’s really hot.
Paul Bettany is getting some actual screen time in Ultron as The Vision. All the nerds are so happy! Paul looks nice here and I think he loves being a part of this franchise.
And finally, Chadwick Boseman. I love Chadwick and I think he’s an incredible actor. He’s getting his own Marvel Black Panther movie! Yay.

High profile couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West had their daughter North, 22 months, baptized in Israel on Monday, E! News reports.
The special ceremony was held at St. James Cathedral in the Armenian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem.
Who was Nori’s godmother?
Kim’s younger sister Khloé Kardashian took the honor and attended the baptism, while the priest acted as the tot’s godfather.
After the religious ceremony, Kim, Kanye, Khloé and North all had dinner with Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat at Mona Restaurant.
The group arrived in the Holy Land on Monday after a five-day trip in Armenia. Reportedly, they’re leaving for Jordan on Tuesday.
More photos from the LA premiere of The Avengers: Age of Ultron. This doesn’t come out for another two and a half weeks, but the press tour started over the weekend and I’m sure we’re going to have Avengers stories and interviews every damn day from here on out. As for the ladies of the Marvel world, I actually thought Scarlett Johansson was the best-dressed at last night’s premiere. Her styling wasn’t so “Elsa Pataky” and it was more like ScarJo. This black (mullet) dress is Stella McCartney. Easily one of the best Stella dresses I’ve seen in a while.
I’m still not feeling Chris Evans and his neurotic chunk-butt, but Bedhead loves him so I’ll try to say something nice: he looks good with a beard. I actually think he looks BETTER with a beard. And for my money, he had the best suit out of all the Avenger dudes.
It just occurred to me as I was looking at the Robert Downey Jr. photos that it seems like Pepper Potts is not in Age of Ultron? Gwyneth Paltrow is not listed for the cast. So Ultron has NO PEPPER. And thus, she did not go to the premiere. So just make due with RDJ and Susan Downey. I feel like they could have coordinated better?
Mark Ruffalo is still the best, right? Right. Mark brought his whole family to the premiere.
Jeremy Renner, the forgotten Avenger. He looks pretty good.
And here’s Jaimie Alexander in Mugler. Is it wrong that I actually like this? She’s also showing off her engagement ring from Peter Facinelli – you can see a better photo of the HUGE ring here.

The LA premiere for The Avengers: Age of Ultron was held last night with much fanfare. I’m breaking up the pics into several different posts, just because there are SO MANY PHOTOS. I was kind of hoping that Tom Hiddleston and Idris Elba would come out for the first premiere, Tommy especially. Both Tom and Idris allegedly have cameos in Ultron, but neither came to the premiere. Which is probably why Chris Hemsworth has such sad eyes. Poor Hemsworth! Missing his BFF. Thank God Elsa Pataky was there to keep Chris looking pleasant enough. Everyone’s talking about Elsa’s dress and how low-cut it was. I don’t think it’s the best design for her overall, but her body looks good. I like how she’s growing out her hair too.
Here’s Elizabeth Olsen, aka the Scarlet Witch. Olsen wore Galvan, and it’s kind of boring.
Cobie Smulders wore a blue and white Bibhu Mohapatra dress. This isn’t my favorite but she looks fine. It’s kind of a boring dress on a boring girl, right?
Linda Cardellini was only recently revealed to be part of this film. No one knows for sure who she’s playing. It’s all a big conspiracy/secret. Her dress is Yanina Couture.

New mom Blake Lively covers the May issue of Allure and opens up about family life with husband Ryan Reynolds and their 3-month-old daughter James.
On how motherhood has changed her: “I feel like I’ve figured out the most important thing to me. And everything supports that… And also, having a child makes you realize that we pass on for a reason. You think, ‘I have to go, because it makes room for you.’”
On breastfeeding: “[It’s] a full-time job. I’m, like, driving down the road, pumping.”
On her baby bump reveal on Preserve: “My brother took that photo—he’s an amazing photographer. That moment was really neat, and I was scared to take that picture because I’m very private. I had a feeling that we weren’t going to get away with our privacy for a while. That was my way of owning that moment. I can’t be someone like Beyoncé and be like— [her 2011 VMAs announcement],” she joked. “But it was important for us. It was a struggle, because we want to keep our privacy, but we also don’t want our lives to be exploited by other people. So we did it simply; it was a quiet way, an elegant way.”
On the concept of “having it all”: “Most of the things I do are all-consuming, but somehow I find a way to do it all. It’s not having it all; it’s about doing it all, but it’s dangerous to dilute that to a catchphrase. Having it all could be having a happy, healthy family, and you could be a mom who stays at home, and that is the most admirable thing you could do. Or it could be having a profession that you really believe in, and not having a family, and doing what fulfills you… If it’s not a part of a conversation with someone face-to-face, those bites are why women tear each other apart or why the media will tear people apart.”
