I’ve always enjoyed Michelle Rodriguez on camera. She kicks some serious butt in most of her movie roles. In real life, Michelle’s a hot, party-girl mess, and I still don’t understand the Zac Efron thing. Sometimes some weird stuff comes out of her mouth, which is what happened here. Some rumors started circulating about Michelle starring in a Green Lantern role, although god knows why they’d want to make a sequel.

TMZ caught up with Michelle on Friday night and asked about the casting rumor. In TMZ’s video, Michelle laughs and says, “That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard … Like, stop stealing, you know, all the white people’s superheroes. Like, make up your own. Know what I’m saying, like what’s up with that?” TMZ implies that Michelle was referring to Samuel L. Jackson playing Nick Fury. Yeah, she probably was shading Sam, which bugs. He plays the Ultimate Nick Fury, a character who was designed with Sam Jackson in mind! His race shouldn’t matter anyway. Just like it doesn’t matter that Jason Momoa is playing Aquaman.

Michelle felt the backlash and recorded a video she posted to her Facebook page (with her cat in the background). I don’t think she improved upon the situation:

I want to clarify about my comment yesterday. I stuck my foot in my mouth once again, and I said that people should stop trying to steal white people superheroes. I guess it got taken out of context because a lot of people got offended … but I have a tendency to speak without a filter, so sorry about that. What I really meant was, ultimately at the end of the day there’s a language. And the language that you speak in Hollywood is successful franchise. And I think that there are many cultures in Hollywood that are not white that can come up with their own mythology … I’m just saying that instead of trying to turn a girl character into a guy or instead of trying to turn a white character into a black character or Latin character, I think that people should stop being lazy, and that people should actually make an effort in Hollywood to develop their own mythology.

Michelle’s lack of comic book knowledge doesn’t help matters. There are thousands of Green Lanterns in the comic books, not just the Hal Jordan character played by Ryan Reynolds. Some of them are men, some are women, and plenty of them are not white.

Putting that point aside, Michelle believes that placing minorities into roles that were written as “white” is intellectually lazy. Yes, it would be amazing if Hollywood would adapt tales of mythological figures from non-Eurocentric cultures. As the Daily Beast suggests, “There are tons of mythological figures in the African diaspora and across indigenous American cultures and Asian cultures that could be explored via major Hollywood productions.” Agreed. But I don’t see how it’s a bad thing when the best actor for a job captures a role, and those decisions shouldn’t be dependent upon race.

For much of last week, we discussed the fallout after Giuliana Rancic mocked Zendaya Coleman’s Oscar dreadlocks on E!’s Fashion Police. Kelly Osbourne tweeted her displeasure and threatened to quit unless Giuliana apologized. Giuliana did issue a somber apology that seemed authentic. Then a live audience member revealed how Kelly repeatedly warned Giuliana during the episode’s taping. Zendaya accepted Giuliana’s apology and kept it classy with an eloquent statement. That should have been the end of the story.

But no! There’s more, although I didn’t follow up with this update from the Mail, which said Giuliana took the fall for the weed joke, which she (allegedly) didn’t write: “Giuliana is a stand up person and instead of making excuses or pointing fingers and laying blame, she took it all on herself, she knows she should have been more sensitive and didn’t make any excuses.” This part of the story didn’t jibe with the stuff we already heard, and it sounded fishy to me.

Kelly departed Fashion Police on Friday even though Giuliana apologized. TMZ reported that Kelly had been “at odds” with producers for some time, and they were “up to here” with her. E! issued a statement about how Kelly left “to pursue other opportunities. We would like to thank her for her many contributions to the series over the past five years, during which time the show became a hit with viewers.” The show will return on March 30, and E! didn’t drop hints about Kelly’s replacement.

There’s a question of whether Kelly quit or was asked to leave. It was probably the latter. Kelly acted immature by tweeting a threat to quit the show. That’s bad form, and she should know that no one is indispensible at their job. Radar talked to sources who say Kelly “was given the option to quit or be fired. In reality, she was let go.” They say Kelly has been upset ever since Kathy Griffin replaced Joan Rivers “because [Kelly] thought she was going to be the star of the show.” Is that part true? I don’t know. E! was also reportedly peeved that Kelly tweeted about the dreadlocks controversy: “The network stands behind Giuliana and are furious that Kelly bashed her and the show.”

E! has a few weeks to come up with a replacement for Kelly, who made the grave mistake of throwing the show under the bus right as the Kardashians secured a 4-year contract with E!. Us reports that Khloe Kardashian is in contention to replace Kelly, as is NeNe Leakes. Do you think they’ll go with Khloe? I’d be willing to bet that Kris Jenner’s fiddling with her voodoo dolls as we speak.

Late last week we heard the sad news that iconic actor Leonard Nimoy had passed away at 83 after a long battle with COPD. The world mourned the loss of a great actor and man who had become a part of so many of our childhoods. Tributes poured in from celebrities, from President Obama, and even from space.

After Nimoy passed, many people wondered how his longterm co-star and old friend, William Shatner, was doing. Shatner, 83, tweeted that he was “feeling awful” and that he would not be able to make it to Nimoy’s funeral on Sunday morning. Shatner had to honor a previous commitment to attend a charity event for The Red Cross in Florida on Saturday night. Yesterday Shatner spent time on Twitter interacting with fans and answering questions about Nimoy. He gave some touching answers. Then, when he got flack for missing Nimoy’s funeral, he sort-of admitted that he couldn’t afford the $30k it would have cost him to take an earlier, chartered flight back to LA. He got a bit defensive, but I can’t blame him, especially after the NY Daily News ran a cover story about him with the headline “Captain Jerk.” Here are some tweets from Shatner:

Shatner then answered fan questions and described what a loving, thoughtful friend Nimoy was and how he loved the arts and photography. You can see those tweets on his timeline and here are individual links to some. It was a fitting way to honor his late friend, and I thought Shatner explained himself well. He also said that his two daughters were attending Nimoy’s funeral.

Later Shatner got in a twitter war with radio talk show host Todd Schnitt, who asked him why he didn’t take a private jet to the funeral. Schnitt tweeted, after it was too late to have helped, that “if money is an issue for you, I would have paid for your flight.” Shatner retorted that he “must have missed your email about underwriting the arrangement and payment for this.” Then Schnitt wrote he would make a donation to the Red Cross instead, after which Shatner called him out for not donating the $30k a jet would have cost.

Ultimately Shatner landed in LA yesterday at around 11:30, two and a half hours after Nimoy’s service was held. The Daily News claims he could have either chartered a jet or flew out of Miami an hour south to catch a flight that would have landed him in LA at 9:45. I doubt it’s as easy to charter a private flight as the News makes it sound, and even the earlier flight would have made him significantly late.

Shatner is also 83 years old. He spent a lot of time on Twitter honoring his late friend’s memory, and he made the choice to also honor a charity commitment he had made. I’m sure that Nimoy would have understood.

During New York Fashion Week, little North West threw not one but TWO front-row tantrums. It’s not North’s fault, of course. Her parents are just jackasses and they don’t realize that front-row at a fashion show is not the best place for a toddler. The first tantrum came at Kanye West’s Adidas show, while Anna Wintour was sitting right next to Kim Kardashian (Kim was holding North). The second tantrum came when Kim, Kanye and North were sitting front row at Alexander Wang’s show. Kim was so embarrassed, she took North backstage and left her there while Kim returned to her seat. After those displays, it’s been rumored that Wintour was considering putting her foot down. Now The Daily Mail says it’s happened, and Nuclear Wintour has officially BANNED children from runway shows.

Ice queen Anna Wintour has told designers not to allow toddlers on the front row at fashion shows she attends after Kim Kardashian’s daughter North threw a double tantrum. The US Vogue editor told aides of the ban during London Fashion Week, I can reveal.

The final straw for Wintour came when North got agitated during her father Kanye West’s recent show in New York and the one-year-old had to be taken out of the room by a nanny. During little North’s outburst, Wintour, 65, wrinkled her nose in disgust.

This followed North’s previous flare-up at another recent New York show, which left Anna looking distinctly unimpressed, left.

Anna Wintour has similar bans on puppies, toothy smiles, kittens, laughter, gluten, glitter and hearts of gold. No children, ever!! I actually see Wintour’s point, but it shouldn’t be her call. It should be the PARENTS deciding that their children don’t belong at fashion shows. But since that won’t happen any time soon, yes, let’s just go ahead and make the decree. I wonder if Paris Fashion Week will follow suit, because North West has been to a bunch of PFW shows in the past. I’ve always assumed that designers welcome North at their shows because she’s the most popular member of her family.

Increasingly, it become clearer that James Middleton is never going to light the world on fire with his sparkling wit and business acumen. His businesses are always a disaster, even Boomf! Who would have thought that transferring Instagrams onto marshmallows wasn’t a huge moneymaker?! But at least one of the Middleton children ended up getting their mother’s drive and moneymaking capabilities: Pippa. I’ve defended Pippa’s ability to hustle before, but I got sidetracked by #PippaTips, the failure of her book and her rather tedious “journalism” career. As it turns out though, Pippa is making bank.

She has never made any claims to being a brilliant businesswoman but it seems that is exactly what Pippa Middleton is. The Duchess of Cambridge’s younger sister has raked in nearly a quarter of a million pounds in the last year, according to figures released by Companies House.

Pippa is the sole director and shareholder of PXM Enterprises Limited which has assets totalling £229,241, including £211,521 in cash in its first year. By contrast, the companies belonging to younger brother James have never posted a profit and two have now been de-registered. The two, Nice Cakes Ltd and Nice Wine Ltd, had assets worth just £20 when they closed, according to Companies House paperwork.

As a result, Pippa has made approximately £229,221 more than her brother in the period between the company’s incorporation in May 2013 and the end of May last year. In it, she lists the nature of the business as being ‘Other publishing activities’, perhaps in a reference to her much-maligned party book, Celebrate!. Along with the book, Pippa, 31, is believed to have earned the money with a number of writing assignments, which including her regular column for supermarket magazine, Waitrose Kitchen. She also penned a series of columns in her position as a contributing editor of Vanity Fair and another for a British newspaper. Her other source of income comes from her parents’ company Party Pieces, where Pippa is employed to edit web magazine, the Party Times.

The documents show that after paying creditors £115,000, her business was left with a profit of £115,192.

I don’t understand the £115,000 in debt. What did she need to buy on credit? Her jobs are pretty simple: she’s a half-assed essayist, half-assed cook and half-assed party planner. Why do those jobs need £115,000 in start-up costs? Does she have, like, really expensive office space? In any case, Pippa is making good money for being little more than a professional socialite and hostess. It’s such a throwback job description, right? But kudos to her – at least one of the Middleton siblings has a work ethic.

Kane Biermann is on the run!

The youngest son of Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann decided to live on the edge this week as he stole his twin sister, Kaia’s, blanket! Kim caught him in the act, snapped a (cute) picture and immediately shared it on Instagram. She captioned the photo:

Kane the thief!! He stole Kaia’s blanket and took off, I was calling him to come back and he turns around and looks at me like ‘b***h what?” “She bites me, pulls my hats off, pushes me, and now it’s her turn’.”

In Kane’s defense, who could deny such a cute and ultra-cuddly blanket? I have a feeling there’s going to be plenty more moments like these in the future and we hope Kim shares them all on Instagram!

Over the past week, a new rumor has surfaced that Kim Kardashian has some pretty fancy demands when it comes to North West’s bath time. According to rumors, Kim will only allow North to be bathed in bottled water and it has to be heated “manually.” So, is this true or just another crazy rumor?

As of right now, this is all just a rumor. Even though it has not been confirmed as being true, but it certainly wouldn’t come as a surprise. After all, Kim and Kanye West live quite the lavish lifestyle and North West has an army of nannies that watch after her.

Congratulations are in order for newlyweds Ludacris and Eudoxie Mbouguiyengue.

The R&B superstar, 37, and his wife are expecting their first child together. “Beautiful day on the beach,” Mbouguiyengue Instagrammed the above photo Sunday, announcing their pregnancy news.

The Furious 7 star and his wife were wed over the holidays on the same day he popped the question.

“She didn’t say yes. She said HELL YES! #milehighproposal,” the singer-actor posted on Instagram.

This will be the third child for Ludacris, who was recently granted full custody of his 15-month-old daughter Cai. He is also dad to 13-year-old daughter, Karma, from a previous relationship.

The rapper’s new album, Ludaversal, drops March 31st.
