They’re a red carpet mainstay, and earlier tonight Eva Longoria and her hubby Tony Parker showed up at the 60th Annual Primetime Emmys looking quite amazing.

The “Desperate Housewives” diva looked ravishing in a silver strapless frilly dress with matching massive silver heels, while her NBA beau rocked a grey suit with black leather wingtips.
Speaking of her hit dramedy, it seems Eva wasn’t too excited about the prospects of Heather Mills making a guest appearance this season.

Mills’ ex-publicist Michele Elyzabeth told press, “Heather was desperate to live in America. She wanted to be accepted by Hollywood in any way. I tried to get her on Desperate Housewives in a little cameo.”

“The producer was keen. I reckon they saw the chance to get some headlines for the show. But when the stars discussed it, Eva Longoria was totally against it. She demanded Heather be dropped from consideration.

John McCain and the Republican party got a definite boost, after The Republican National Convention. USA Today’s Gallup Poll shows McCain leading Obama currently.

Republic John McCain leads Democrat Barack Obama by 50%-46% among registered voters, the Republican’s biggest advantage since January and a turnaround from the USA TODAY poll taken just before the convention opened in St. Paul. At that time, McCain was under by 7 percentage points.

The Republican convention lead has helped not only McCain but also attitudes toward Republican congressional candidates and the GOP in general.

“The Republicans had a very successful convention and, at least initially, the selection of Sarah Palin has made a big difference,” says political scientist Larry Sabato of the University of Virginia. “He’s in a far better position than his people imagined he would be in at this point.”

However, Sabato, who has analyzed the polls since 1960, says the pre-polls only determine the outcome about half of the time. “You could flip a coin and be about as predictive,” he says. “It is really surprising how quickly convention memories fade.”

One of the electorate’s top issues is on handling of the economy. Before the convention, Obama was ahead by 19 points, and now only ahead by 3.

McCain’s ties to President Bush makes him a bit vulnerable. About 63% of people are worried McCain would follow policies close to President Bush, with Bush’s approval rating at only 33%.

In the latest poll taken over this past weekend, McCain leads Obama by 54%-44% among people that are most likely to vote. The survey of 1,022 adults, including 959 registered voters, has a margin of error of +/— 3 points for both samples.

Among the findings:

• Before the convention, Republicans by 47%-39% were not as enthusiastic about voting. Now, they are more enthusiastic by 60%-24%, a sweeping change that narrows a key Democratic advantage. Democrats report being more enthusiastic by 67%-19%.

• Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, draws a very strong reaction from both Democrats and Republicans. Now, 29% say she makes them more likely to vote for McCain, 21% less likely.

Obama’s choice of Delaware Sen. Joe Biden as running mate made 14% more likely to vote for the Democrat, 7% less likely.

• McCain’s acceptance speech Thursday received lower ratings than the one Obama gave a week earlier: 15% called McCain’s speech “excellent” compared with 35% for Obama.

After filing for divorce from her husband in February, Pink has changed from her trademark tomboy chic. She has become more glamorous by wearing this sexy, tiny bikini, complete with a hat.

Pink clearly enjoyed herself and did not show any stress of her marital woes. Pink, 28, and Carey Hart, 33, announced their split after rumors had circulated that he had cheated on her. They were married for 21 months.

Pink’s publicist, Michele Schweitzer, said that Pink and Carey Hart separated as best friends. They retained love and respect for each other and remained as friends.

The temperature on the beach is heating up… especially in Malibu. Phoebe Price gave beachgoers a little extra eye candy this weekend as she frolicked in the sand.

The International actress and model was out having fun in the sun, along with her pooch pal, and was more than happy to strike a few poses for the looming paparazzi.
Price sported a green and turquoise Dior bathing suit, along with a requisite straw floppy hat, and like a responsible dog owner, she made sure to keep her furry friend on a leash.

But don’t think that this crimson-haired hottie is only about looking good in a bathing suit – she’s also making a difference as a spokeswoman for “Women in Distress,” a center for battered women and children.

Phil Collins, 57, has been forced to pay his third wife about $50 million for his divorce. It was the largest divorce payment by a British celebrity in show biz.

Phil Collins was getting divorced from Orianne Cevey, 35, after 7 years of marriage. They have 2 children; Nicolas, 8, and Matthew, 4. Collins paid more than Paul McCartney. McCartney paid his ex-wife, Heather Mills, $48.6 million.

Orianne Cevey would be staying in Geneva, Switzerland, and work at her luxury jewelry business, The Right Label. Coliins will move out and stay nearby to be close to his sons, Nicolas and Matthew.

Collins will divide his time between Switzerland, New York and Norfolk, UK. His agent, Tony Smith, had refused to comment on Collins’ divorce, saying that it was an old story.

Model Petra Nemcova, 28, is Sean Penn’s latest conquest. They came out in the open when they attended Elton John’s A-list party after the Oscars. It must be a serious romance for Sean to take her to Elton John’s 16th Annual AIDS Foundation Oscar on Sunday night at the Pacific Design Center.

Petra ended her romance with James Blunt last year. Sean was also recently made single after his split with his ex-wife, Robin Wright. Sean, 47, had been dodged by rumors in his 11 year old marriage and when the split was announced, it was not a total surprise.

Peter recently told press that Katie’s mom made it possible for them to find the school for Harvey. “With the help of Kate’s mum Amy, we’ve found a great school for Harvey so he can continue with his learning. He’s going to love the fact that he can go swimming so much out there as well.”

Now Jessica Simpson herself has spoken out for the first time since her newly voluptuous figure caused huge waves across the world of showbiz.

Addressing crowds during a concert in Charlottesville, Virginia, Jessica, dressed in a pair of tight, leather pants (see gallery below), said:

“Thank you for your support. Stay positive, and pray out loud.

“Please remember, no matter what you go through in life, somebody else might have it harder, so just appreciate.”

In a veiled reference to the storm of controversy over her figure, Jess continued:

“I feel like in our world today we focus on so many things that are completely pointless.”

Meanwhile, Pete Wentz has jumped to the defence of his sister-in-law in the great weight debate.

“I think that the media puts too harsh of a spotlight on women in general, and I think it’s a bummer,” he told reporters from Us magazine. “Real beauty is on the inside, man.”

Great, Pete, a bummer, huh? That’ll be a true comfort to Jess when she’s agonising over the reaction to her new look.
