Getting in a little weekend retail therapy, Reese Witherspoon was spotted doing some shopping in Santa Monica, California yesterday, March 29.
The “Sweet Home Alabama” sweetie looked to be in good spirits as she meandered around several shops, sporting a beige hat, cardigan, and distressed jeans with sandals.
Reese’s latest flick “Monsters vs Aliens” is a huge hit at the box office, pulling in $55.2 million in its first weekend, and making it the biggest debut so far this year.
It sounds like Miss Witherspoon owes a debt of gratitude to her kids Ava and Deacon who reportedly pushed her to take on the voice role.
With a pair of involuntary hospitalizations, run-ins with shady managers and lovers, being done wheelbarrow style by J.R. Rotem, and enduring a long stint in which she eschewed pants, Britney Spears had a rough go of it for a time.
Yet with a successful new album, Circus, and a nationwide tour packing in crowds all across the country, she’s definitely back on top. But was she ever gone?
Before and after Britney’s Pittsburgh concert on Friday night, most of her ardent fans agreed that, comeback or not, Spears was on top of her game.
“I don’t think she ever went away,” said 21-year-old Hugh Stumpp. “She’s on top of the world right now and she’s continued to grow and it’s great.”
“Her huge tour comeback just shows how great of an artist she really is and shows how she can bounce back from anything,” added Steve Delong, 20.
Whether they’re wearing custom “It’s Britney B!tch” t-shirts or defending her on “jealous” fan sites, it’s obvious that many supporters never left Spears’ side.
“Everyone just goes through a rough patch,” said fan Danielle DeRuschi, 20. “If you like her then you stand up for her and you just follow her through the end.”
She’s definitely returning the favor, too, right? Well, try telling that to the popular Britney fan site currently in the process of being shut down by her attorneys.
In any case, no matter the obstacles in her path, the blonde singer has once again taken the world by storm and established herself as the icon of a generation.

Giving everyone quite the scare, Josh Hartnett is currently recuperating in the hospital after being taken to Cedars-Sinai following a 9-1-1 call early this morning (March 30).
Trying to maintain privacy, curtains were put up outside the Emergency Department entrance, where the “Black Hawk Down” hunk was allegedly taken to by medics who picked him up at Chateau Marmot.
While few details are available at this time, the reason for the hospital stay is said to be abdominal pains.
According to TMZ insider, Hartnett “wasn’t carried in on a stretcher. he was able to walk to the transport on his own.”
When rumors and apparent video evidence of his LeAnn Rimes affair broke last week, Eddie Cibrian went from relative unknown to a hot celebrity gossip topic.
Of course, Cibrian and Rimes’ Lifetime movie, Northern Lights, was set to premiere last Sunday, sparking rumors that perhaps it was all a big PR stunt.
Given the movie’s 4.5 million viewers, one could say it worked.
Yes despite the rumors of the tryst between the co-stars – who are both married to other people – LeAnn Rimes and husband Dean Sheremet were then seen kissing in public almost as quickly as talk of the affair surfaced.
What gives?
Yesterday it was Eddie Cibrian playing public damage control, holding hands with wife Brandi Glanville in Miami after returning from Bruce Willis’ wedding …
Rapper T.I. was sentenced Friday morning to 1 year and 1 day in jail, in accordance to a plea deal set forth by his legal team for felony weapons charges.
He’s scheduled to voluntarily turn himself in to prison within the next 6 to 8 weeks.
The specifics of his unique plea bargain include 1,000 hours of community service completed prior to sentencing, a $100,000 fine, and another 500 hours of community service once behind bars.
The "1 year and 1 day" aspect of his sentencing increases his chances of getting out early for good behavior.
We hope he’s learned his lesson!

On Thursday, Rockey Lee Dickey Jr. and Alex Montes, two employees of a company contracted to provide equipment for the Circus Starring Britney Spears tour, were nabbed by Pittsburgh police for aggravated assault, E! News says.
Spears, whose wild behavior and possible craziness on tour has already been making headlines this week, is set to perform in the Pennsylvania city tonight.
According to a statement from the police, officers saw Rockey Lee Dickey, 34, in a physical altercation with a 30-year-old male, reportedly named Matthew Boyle.
When they approached, Dickey allegedly swung at the officer and Alex Montes, 23, attempted to intervene, placing another officer in a headlock. Always smart.
The cops had to use a taser to subdue Dickey. Montes made a run for it but was picked up shortly thereafter. Both mean "will be charged with aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, assault and public drunkenness," police said.
Obviously, she had nothing personally to do with hiring the two dudes, but Britney Spears’ official site has released a statement regarding the incident:
"Last night two employees of a company contracted to provide equipment for The Circus Starring Britney Spears tour were arrested in Pittsburgh, PA. However, neither of the men involved are employees of the tour or Ms. Spears. The two individuals have since been dismissed by their employer. The Circus Starring Britney Spears tour does not support or tolerate this type of behavior."
