Oprah1 Oprah Winfrey described Friday the harrowing ordeal she has gone through with her dogs since announcing the adoption of Sadie, a cocker spaniel puppy, two weeks ago.

Sadie’s littermate, whom Winfrey took home that day, died within a week from the Parvo virus, as PEOPLE Pets reported earlier this week. The media mogul said on her show Friday that Sadie is still "hanging in there."

"I went through it all," Winfrey said, describing the symptoms of Parvo. "You can’t get it. If you could get it, I would have it."

Sadie appeared via a videoconference with veterinarian Dr. Alexis Newman of the Arboretum Animal Hospital in Downers Grove, Ill. Newman said Sadie was about 80 percent recovered after being close to death on Sunday and Monday.

Sadie has stopped vomiting and is now eating warm chicken meat and should be home in a few days, Newman said. Winfrey explained that Sadie is being kept in isolation and even her toys will have to be burned.

Newman said that the Parvo virus is everywhere and that the dogs may have been exposed in the ground in Chicago after the snow melted. She theorized that Ivan, who got sick first, contracted the virus first. She said that Sadie had lost half a pound throughout the ordeal.

"We had some . nights where we thought she might not make it," Winfrey said.

Winfrey showed pictures of her introduction of Sadie to her audience two weeks ago. During that show she brought out three of Sadie’s brothers who were still awaiting adoption at the PAWS shelter.

"That’s she and Ivan kind of kissing, shouldn’t have done that," Winfrey said of the day she had the puppies on set.

Shortly after the show Winfrey flew her dogs to California. "Ivan had really one great day playing with the big dogs and playing with Sadie and then he got sick," Winfrey said. Ivan died March 19, she said. She added that her other dogs were "fine" because they had been vaccinated.

After getting criticized for performing a so-so salsa on Monday’s show, Julianne Hough is making an appeal to her fans: vote for her and partner/boyfriend Chuck Wicks this week!

The two-time Dancing champ took to her celebrity MySpace blog Thursday following her performance at Celebration in Disney World to support the Champions of Children’s Miracle Network.

“i’m just laying here thinking about how hard it’s gonna be to start teaching chuck our dance for next week tomorrow,” she writes. “we are so behind because we are both still touring.”

Hough planned on squeezing a “couple of hours of training in” before Wicks’s concert Friday in Connecticut. Then the two fly out early Saturday for Hough’s next show in Mississippi.

The bottom line: “hopefully you guys will vote this week, i think we are really going to need it!!! lol.” she writes.

Before logging off, Hough writes: well im gonna go to bed so that i can get some good sleep in so that i can be my usual hard teaching julianne self that i am. i think i’ve been taking it easy on him without really noticing, so i really have to TRY to be hard on him ha ha wish me luck.

The homeless situation in Malibu has really gotten out of control.

Cristiano Ronaldo may become a singer when he hangs up his boots.

The Manchester United star has talked about starting a pop group when his soccer career ends.

‘Somebody mentioned to me a few years ago that it would be a great idea if myself, the Brazilian Ronaldo and Ronaldinho made a band called The Three Rs,’ says Cris.

‘I loved the idea, it was so funny. I’ll mention it to them when I retire, we might even have a No1.’

And Cristiano, 24, has his heart set on being the frontman.

‘I don’t know what the other two would like to do but it would be brilliant if I was lead singer,’ he tells The Sun.

‘You never know, I will have to do something after football.

While Oprah Winfrey, Tyra Banks, and other talk-show hosts have discussed what Rihanna should do after the assault she allegedly suffered at the hands of boyfriend Chris Brown, Rihanna’s mentor, producer Evan Rogers, believes all the televised attention could make matters worse.

“I think that everyone has good intentions and means well, but it turns up the heat in terms of it seeming like the whole world is telling her what to do,” Rogers told Entertainment Weekly. “At the end of the day, people forget that, at 21, your perspective is very different. These kinds of things can happen to anyone, whether you’re a celebrity or not.”

Still, the man who discovered the Barbadian singer knows she listens to all the unsolicited advice, even if she chooses not to take it.

Russell Brand could appear in The Simpsons if the show’s bosses get their way.

Executive producer Al Jean has praised the 33-year-old’s comedic talents.

‘I would definitely be interested in writing an episode around Russell,’ he says.

It’s also hoped US President Barack Obama, 47, can be lured into making a cameo.

‘We’d love to have Barack on the show,’ producer James L Brooks tells The Sun.

‘No president has agreed to do it yet but we’ll keep asking.

‘We’re putting all the right signals out.’

Meanwhile, Russell has been snapped wooing a mystery blonde in Sydney.
