From CB: I got the black KF94 masks we featured last week. They’re not as easy to breathe in as the white KF94 masks we featured, which makes me trust them more honestly. I felt safe in one of those, but I still doubled masked and wore a visor. I also ordered the pregnancy pillow, massager and butane torch and they’re all coming today! However I noticed I made two orders for the same thing so I’m going to have to return some things. Have you ever double ordered like that? This isn’t the first time for me. Here are more products that Hecate and I are looking at.
An eye cream that reduces puffiness and fine lines
From CB: We’ve been asked to find eye cream. L’oreal Eye Defense with caffeine and hyaluronic acid is a light gel that women say works and absorbs well. This has over 7,000 reviews, 4.3 stars and an A on Fakespot. It’s currently under $12 for half an ounce. There are before and after photos showing a reduction in undereye bags and puffiness. People are surprised at the difference after using it. “A little bit of this cream (and a little bit goes a long way!) feels like the best thing in the world, like putting a burn under cool water. Reduces puffiness and darkness around eyes as well. I’ve had it for over 5 months and use it every morning and theres still quite a bit left, so it goes a long way.” “I honestly was very surprised to see my lids open up and the dark circles faded. The whole area plumped up.” “Within 3 days the darkness under both eyes was gone and after a week I cannot believe the major change in my entire eye area. The tiny lines are gone and the more prominent wrinkles have been reduced to an acceptable line.”
A super greens powder with antioxidants and probiotics
From CB: I don’t know if it’s doing anything, but I like the vegan protein powder we featured a few weeks ago. I’ve been adding a scoop to my smoothie every morning and feel good that I’m getting protein and more vitamins. I want to try a different add-in and have been wondering about super greens. This super greens powder by NutraChamps has over 7,400 ratings, 4.3 stars and a B on Fakespot. It has probiotics, enzymes and a bunch of fruit and vegetable extracts. Reviewers say it tastes ok compared to similar brands, that it seems to work and that they notice a difference in their energy levels after using it. Some say not to drink it at night as it may keep you up. It’s needs a blender or shaker to mix as it doesn’t mix immediately in water. “I have felt much healthier and more energetic since making a smoothie with this super food everyday. There’s definitely a taste but its not as bad as you might think.” “I’ve noticed a marked difference in my overall energy and digestion.” “I’ve been using this product now for 4 or 5 months and I think my hair is a lot thicker than it was and looks much better.”
An affordable, foldable weight bench for at-home fitness
From CB: This adjustable weight bench is under $130. It has over 1,700 ratings, 4.3 stars and an A on Fakespot. Reviewers say it arrives mostly assembled and that you just have to add the pins in it so it’s stable. “ It’s comfortable, sturdy, stable, comes almost totally assembled, it moves effortlessly from full decline to fully upright for military press, and it has footholds to hold you up during decline press sets.” “I have had several workout benches in the past, and I end up taking them to Goodwill because they are bulky and take up too much space. This bench solves this problem because it folds and fits nicely in a closet when not being used. Also it has a nice ‘back feel’ which many home benches don’t have.”
A foot massager with heat that you can use on your back too
From CB: My feet are always cold and I currently have a small space heater under my desk to fix that. I would love a foot warmer and massager instead. This massager by Snailax can also be used on your back, legs or wherever you have pain or tightness and need to increase circulation. This has 1,100 ratings, 4.3 stars and a B on Fakespot. It has three different vibration modes and intensities and can be used with or without heat. People say it’s a great massager and they love that it has heat too. “ A lot of products claim to massage, this one actually massages and provides a nice amount of heat. I also love that I can unzip and we both can get a good back massage out of it.” “I am so impressed with how my feet feel after each session of using it. My feet are always cold & it’s so nice to sit for 30 minutes getting them warmed & stimulated.”
Temporary tattoo pens and stencils for at-home body artistry
From Hecate: I wanted to get crafty and stencil a coffee cup recently. That went horribly wrong, but we ended up using the stencils I bought with some Sharpies on our arms. I had a blue broom on the inside of my wrist for a day and liked it so much, I wished it had stuck around a little longer. So I’m thinking about these temporary tattoo pens and stencils for when I get an itch to decorate myself. This set comes with three pens and stencils, which works for me because I just bought a ton of stencils for the aforementioned cup project. This brand got 4.4 stars from almost 9,000 reviews that ReviewMeta confirmed. Reviews say they go on well, “They apply smoothly and evenly with bold color. Great control and detail with the brush tips,” which helps those of us who are not artistically gifted. Another said they aren’t just for kids, “Brought this as a ‘something to do’ gift” for my granddaughter while I visited with her parents and friends at a small gathering. Cut to the chase, everybody who was there left with a tattoo and others saying they wanted to purchase some. Very good gift idea!” This reminds me of a party we went to in which my husband drew a custom version of the host on each guest with my eyeliner. It was an impromptu thing and everyone ended up asking for it. These would make a great party idea, when we get to go to parties again.
Yoga socks with grips for warm feet while you’re posing
From Hecate: Now that I’m taking Oya’s amazing Saturday yoga series, I want to look the part. I love these Yoga socks because they will keep my tootsies warm. The non-slip grips on the bottom are great for non-carpeted floors and they have strops to stay. They look super lightweight but they also look really cute. The socks come in several colors and you can buy a single pair for $9 or a group of three for $19. Customers gave them 4.6 stars in over 14,000 reviews and Fakespot gives them a B. Apparently they feel as good as they look, with a superhero bonus: “Very comfortable, look great, and the grip is fantastic for lounging around the house OR yoga! Seriously – felt like Spider-Man climbing the wall – I am ordering more!” Another customer brought up they were a good idea for people recovering post-op as well, which I hadn’t thought of, “I bought these yoga socks for my mother who broke her hip and was in rehab for several weeks… and they worked beautifully. She has narrow feet and the strap on top helped keep the socks in place.” Note by CB: I have these and really like them!
Popular textured booty-enhancing leggings that are super flattering
From Hecate: I have seen these leggings everywhere! People say your butt will never look better and if that’s true, sign me up. I was put off by the texture at first but folks are saying that’s the appeal. Plus, with the honeycomb, I guess they would look more interesting on my legs than just regular leggings. They come in a bunch of colors and sizes XS-4XL. This the original brand that costs $31 a pair. There are cheaper knockoffs but they do not look as good plus they aren’t as thick so be careful. Close to 40K reviewers gave these leggings 4.3 stars and they have a B on Fakespot. Happy customers say they love them. “The honeycomb texture of these leggings completely conceals any dimples or cellulite. The waistband is pretty high so any tummy is sucked in, which is critical for me, as I just had a baby 3 months ago.” Mainly folks say they just make you look and feel great for whatever you wear them, “Girl if you’re looking at these leggings, just do yourself a favor and get them! They have me looking SNATCHED!!!” One thing a few suggest is look the leggings over really well when you receive them for any flaws in the fabric prior to wearing them. Once you do that, they should last you.

Last October, we learned that Katharine McPhee was expecting her first child with husband David Foster. There was a lot of interest in that story for a couple of different reasons. One, Foster is almost twice Katharine’s age. She’s 36 years old, he’s 71. The second thing was that Foster already has five daughters, all of whom are adults. His youngest daughter is 34. His oldest daughter is 50. And now David Foster, 71, is finally the father of a son. Katharine gave birth to a boy this week.
Katharine McPhee’s baby has arrived! The Smash actress, 36, has welcomed her first child, a son, with husband David Foster, her rep confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.
“Katharine McPhee and David Foster have welcomed a healthy baby boy,” the rep tells PEOPLE. “Mom, Dad and son are all doing wonderfully.”
Sources confirmed to PEOPLE in October that McPhee and Foster were expecting. At the time, the couple were spotted in Montecito, California, having lunch and shopping for baby buys.
The couple tied the knot in June 2019 after first meeting in 2006, when Foster mentored McPhee and other contestants on season 5 of American Idol. Foster is already father to daughters Sara, 40, Erin, 38, and Jordan, 34, whom he shared with second wife Rebecca Dyer, and daughters Allison, 50, and Amy, 47, from previous relationships.
[From People]
When I’m 71 years old, please don’t let me be responsible for a baby. Lord, I can’t even be responsible for a baby at my current age of [redacted]. But I guess I’m happy for them. I mean, congrats. He finally “got a boy.” And Katharine was the one to give him a son. It brings a tear to my eye, because I remember the good old days when Katharine was wrecking Mary McCormack’s marriage.

We’re hearing different things about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s headspace these days and what they discussed during the Oprah interview. The British media would have us believe that Harry and Meghan will dish about everything and that they’re out for retribution, which I don’t really believe. I think there’s generally a lot of sadness in Camp Sussex – sadness that their exit had to happen this way, disappointment with the way they were treated throughout. That’s what People Magazine’s sources say too:
The disappointment: Harry and Meghan were “disappointed” not to be able to keep their royal patronages and Harry’s military appointments, says a source close to the couple, but “they respect the decision that was reached.”
Pushing back on the Palace with “service is universal”: The pushback reportedly ruffled feathers at the palace. Others say the couple would not have pushed back had the palace statement simply referred to “royal” service.
A family bond: Still, adds a royal source, “There is a very strong family bond.” There is hope among those close to Harry and his brother Prince William that things will ease now that they aren’t focusing on the disagreements over how to be a royal. Those close to the Sussexes echo the palace thought there is a difference between the family and the family business – and now that this is out of the way, there can be some room to build bridges.
[From People]
I’m sad at the thought that even after all of this, Harry would probably be down to “build bridges” with that terrible lot. Because you know that William will not meet him halfway. And Charles is in the wind – Clarence House hasn’t released one statement this month about the formal Sussexit. As for what of all of this – if any of it – will make it into the Oprah interview, sources tell E! News that Harry and Meghan will be candid but probably won’t spill all:
Speaking their truth: A source close to the couple tells E! News exclusively that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be “speaking their truth” during the highly anticipated CBS special on March 7, now that they have permanently stepped down as working members of the British monarchy. “There is a lot of tension between them and the royal family,” the source says. “The interview is going to shine a light on what they have been through. Meghan and Harry are relieved they are away from it all.”
Allowed to be more candid: According to the insider, their sit-down will be “very candid” because they’ve “officially been released” from their royal duties. Generally speaking, Meghan and Harry have been more open and honest after they initially stepped down last year and subsequently moved to Santa Barbara, California.
A lot of talk about mental health: The source explains, “They are going to touch on a lot of how mental health came into play and how it affected them.”
How Harry feels about William: The insider admits it’s “still a very tense situation,” adding that “Harry and William are on two different paths.” Of course, William is second in line to the throne, while Harry has delved into entertainment pursuits, including deals with Netflix and Spotify.
[From E! News]
I do think it’s notable that the bulk of the interview will be with Meghan, and then Harry is apparently only going to come in for maybe the last third or the last quarter. While I don’t doubt that Meghan and Harry are on the same page about everything, I also think that they’re going to speak about their own experiences a lot differently. Meghan was and is more clear-eyed about what happened to them, whereas Harry has decades of family drama and family trauma coloring his version. At least they’re going to be honest about it though – I hope Harry talks about the “tense situation” with William and all of that.

Tom Holland has a couple of dramatic films coming out during the pandemic. The Devil All the Time got decent critical response, but I can barely watch anything that isn’t a comedy these days, so I passed. His latest is the Russo Brothers film, Cherry, that deals with wartime PTSD and addiction. It comes out next month. Tom dropped 28 pounds for the role, so I guess he’s hoping for some award consideration. As is a part of most complicated humans lives, in addition to his struggles and bad decisions, Tom’s character is falling in love for the first time. When last we left Tom’s real love-life, he was golfing with actress Nadia Parkes, to whom he’d been introduced by Sophie Turner. In August, the pair were supposedly shacking up together in quarantinial bliss. But going by his interview with Zuri Hall on Access Hollywood, Tom may still be waiting for The One.
On if he’s ready to settle down
Of course I would do. I love romance and I look back at the times when I was in love and they’re the happiest of my life. I’m in no rush, I am 24. But if it happens it happens.
On the biggest way Spider-Man changed his life
I’ve been very lucky that being Spider-Man has allowed me to be on this platform in which I can help people. I run a charity with my family called The Brothers’ Trust and we’re always trying to figure out new and exciting ways to not only entertain people but raise money for people that really need it. The biggest thing that Spider-Man has done for my life is it’s given me the opportunity to help others.
[From Access Hollywood on YouTube]
I know I am on the record as a Tom fan, but that’s a great response to the settling down question. I don’t think anyone should ever be in a rush, but definitely not someone in their early 20s. I love that he’s able to say he’s perfectly content being single without disrespecting any relationship he’s already had. I wish I could come up with answers that smooth off the cuff. (The old stodgy in me thinks how many times could a 24-year-old have been in love?) His Spider-Man answer is pretty conscientious too. I’d probably have answered in relation to my career, but Tom spoke about how it helped position him globally and that’s nice. It’s also not surprising, given his father’s career and Tom’s exposure to the industry. Still, it’s nice to hear a young man come across so grounded.
The other story about Tom going around right now is that he’s doing all these interviews pantsless. Tom’s not only talking about it, he’s showing off his “teenage” legs while on air. Tom is, of course, currently in Atlanta filming the third Spider-Man movie with his buddies Zendaya and Jacob Batalon. Tuesday, the night before the Movie’s official name was released, the punks got on Instagram and began trolling their fans by “revealing” the film’s name:

Sienna Miller had a recent interview with the Daily Beast to promote her latest film, Wander Darkly. Sienna has quietly been building a somewhat interesting career for herself in her 30s – arguably, motherhood “settled her down” from her Tabloid Twenties, where she had a series of relationships which kept her in the headlines but overshadowed her career. It all started with Jude Law. When Sienna and Jude started up, she became the biggest It Girl of the ‘00s. It all came crashing down in the late summer of 2005, when the tabloids discovered that Jude was banging his kids’ nanny, and Jude and Sienna broke off their engagement. What followed was a relationship with Rhys Ifans and a whirlwind public affair with the very married Balthazar Getty. Balthy and Rhys don’t get any shout-outs in this interview, but Sienna speaks at length about the 2005 drama with Jude. Some highlights:
Performing in As You Like It just after Jude cheated: “That was one of the most challenging moments I hope I’ll ever have to experience. Because with that level of public heartbreak, to have to get out of a bed let alone stand in front of 800 people every night, it’s just the last thing you want to do. It was really hard. And the other thing was, it was at the height of all that paparazzi madness, and in London where there was an epidemic of bad behavior. They knew where I would be every night…There’s a whole six weeks of that experience that I don’t remember. I have no recollection of it. People who came to see me said we had dinner, and I don’t remember. I was in so much shock over it all. And I’d really just begun. I was only 23. But if you get through that, you feel like you can get through anything.”
The News of the World was hacking her at that time too: “I’m pretty resilient. There were moments where it came close to making me really feel crazy, and it was incredibly aggressive. The way I managed it was to get really litigious, start suing. I secretly recorded paparazzi on a lighter that was a camera, and got a privacy act taken to a high court to get the law changed in England, which essentially means that if I’m anywhere or coming out of anywhere where I can expect privacy they’re not allowed to take my photo. It was a long battle, and I think I was really paranoid. There was so much noise that it was hard to think straight and focus on my work, which I always took very seriously. It ate everything else. I look back on it and wonder how I did get through it—but I did.”
On the fake baby in American Sniper: “I actually want to get that baby! I just like the moment where Bradley’s holding it and he tries to make it look real by wiggling its little arm. We’ve laughed about that many times. It’s funny, because I think there was at one time a real baby, then there was an animatronic baby, and I don’t know why we had a doll baby in that scene. But look, the movie worked!”
Memories of Heath Ledger: “A boat would pick me up in the morning, take me across the Grand Canal, and pick up Heath in an apartment which was opposite mine. We’d have a Walkman with two earbuds, and he’d have one and I’d have the other, and we got to ride down the Grand Canal listening to music on the way to work. We shot in St. Mark’s Square, and the only day they gave us permission to shoot was when the city flooded, so by the time we were doing our close-ups we were up to our waists in water! The whole thing was like a fairy tale, and it’s bittersweet looking back at that film because I miss him. He was a friend and such a great talent, and to spend any amount of time with him was a gift.”
Her roles in her 30s: “As I’ve gotten older, I’m more selective about the kinds of things I want to do. And I think because the tides have turned in Hollywood, people are more focused on examining what a female experience is—the female gaze, essentially. But then I look back on Factory Girl and Interview, which are characters that were very layered and complex. I think the noise of that decade was overwhelming what was actually going on in my work.”
[From The Daily Beast]
I mean, yeah, that 2005/Jude Law era of her life was legitimately crazy. She was just enjoying herself, being an It Girl, thinking she would marry this handsome actor. And then everything exploded and she couldn’t walk anywhere without ten paparazzi harassing her. I’ve always sort of wondered if after everything that happened to her with the British media, if that’s why she decided to move permanently to New York. I also think LA was never an option for her because Balthazar Getty’s wife Rosetta is one of the most well-connected women in LA, and Sienna would have been shunned. All of that can be true at once!

Paris Hilton got engaged over the Valentine’s Day weekend. It was especially exciting because her family was celebrating her 40th birthday so it was a Paris Extravaganza. One thing that was oddly downplayed at the time was the massive diamond fiancé Carter Reum used to propose. If you remember Paris’ engagement to Chris Zylka (not to be confused with her engagements to Jason Shaw or Stavros Niachros), the 20 -carat, pear-shaped, custom designed diamond engagement ring was heavily featured in the announcement. Some might say more than Chris. In addition to the rock extending past Paris’ knuckle, it got attention because 1) it bore a resemblance to a similar ring Cardi B had been showing off about the same time and 2) absolutely no one believed that Chris either designed it or paid for it himself.
This engagement, the ring was only partially visible in photos and very few details were leaked. It looked to be the same size of the Zylka pear diamond, but it was clear this was an emerald cut monster. It was reported that the ring was designed by Jean Dousset, who is the great-great grandson of Louis Cartier, but that’s all we got. I, foolishly, thought it was because the emphasis this engagement was on love. No, it was because the ring was getting its own night. Last Tuesday, wearing all black, Paris blinded most of Malibu as she went to dinner wearing signature fingerless gloves.
Paris Hilton is hitting the town with a new accessory on her ring finger.
On Tuesday, the singer made her first public appearance since announcing her engagement to Carter Reum as she stepped out for a late-night dinner in Malibu with her husband-to-be.
Hilton, 40, had her massive engagement ring on display, matching the sparkler to her shiny face mask.
The entrepreneur dressed in an all-black ensemble for her night out, wearing a long-sleeve collared shirt tucked into a leather mini skirt. She also accessorized her look with sheer black tights, suede booties and fingerless gloves.
Reum, 40, proposed to Hilton after a year of dating on Feb. 13 while the couple celebrated her 40th birthday on a private island. Reum popped the question with a one-of-a-kind diamond engagement ring.
The mega-carat, emerald-cut sparkler was designed by jeweler Jean Dousset — the great-great-grandson of famed French jeweler Louis Cartier.
[From People]
Note, this time she didn’t even bother to include the fiancé. Paris did upload this video to her YouTube channel of the ring being designed. The video is gorgeous. It also helped me figure out the shape of the giant baguettes, which I couldn’t make out in the pics but they are trap cut diamonds. I was going to make some snarky comments about why have a “custom” designed ring that is essentially just a giant Emerald cut diamond with side stones, but the video shows the elaborate side work under the diamond so I get it now. It’s not my taste, but I think that applies to most of Paris’ lifestyle. Except for the all black, ring reveal outfit she chose. That’s adorable.
What is also not my style is Paris’ choice of birthday gift. I am so happy I came across this story in Vanity Fair, it’s made my whole week. Paris “gifted” her now fiancé Carter Reum a giant painted portrait of him kissing her forehead for his birthday. In the video, they promise to find the “perfect” place to hang it. But, I think they’re in her house. So I guess he can visit it when he’s allowed over? Maybe that’s why he proposed, because he couldn’t imagine being away from his portrait? I know I couldn’t.
Seriously, listen to Carter try to act appropriately for the taped reaction shot here:

Viola Davis should be on a high right now. Besides stunting on us in her Icy Park gear (Viola looked damn good ya’ll), her career is taking off later in life. Her latest film, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, was a tour de force and she received Golden Globe, SAG and Critics Choice nominations for lead actress. There’s Oscar buzz around her performance and if she’s nominated as expected she’ll have the most nominations for a Black actress in history. (Currently she ties with Octavia Spencer with three Academy Award nominations.) Viola has an Oscar for Best-Supporting Actress for her role in Fences. She’s just a Grammy away from an EGOT. Viola had a conversation with Stacey Abrams for Variety. She discussed making Oscar history and the lack of material for artists of color in the film industry. Below are a few excerpts:
“For me, it’s a reflection of the lack of opportunities and access to opportunities people of color have had in this business,” she says. “If me, going back to the Oscars four times in 2021, makes me the most nominated Black actress in history, that’s a testament to the sheer lack of material there has been out there for artists of color.”
Davis currently shares the record for the most nominated Black actress in the history of the Academy Awards, tied with close friend Octavia Spencer with three nods apiece. Both women have a supporting actress trophy at home (Davis won in 2017 for “Fences,” while Spencer won in 2012 for “The Help”).
“Am I grateful that I absolutely have gotten to that point in my life after everything that I’ve been through, and my path, my journey? I’m very grateful for that, extraordinarily so. But I just can’t express enough how important it is to lead a life of vision and purpose,” Davis says. “The conversation that no one is having, the sort of cognitive discussions that people are not having is the process to getting there — the tools and the access that was given to these artists, in order to get to a place where their work can be seen.”
She explains: “When you start having those conversations, you see what a huge deficit and huge discrepancy is still out there for artists of color, which is why a lot of times we don’t have a seat at the table. It’s not because we don’t have the talent, it’s not because we’re not working hard. It’s because of fundamental truths that we are not given the same permission, tools and everything that we need to even start on the same level, or to be on the same playing field.”
“There are a lot of white actresses out there, who are fairly young — in their 20s or 30s, who have been to the Academy Awards just as many times as me or more than me,” the 55-year-old star continues. “It is a reflection of their talent — but it’s also a reflection of their opportunities. That’s what it is. It’s a reflection of how they had the chance — those three, four or five roles that were so good that brought them to that place. [Being a Black actress] is like having a fabulous body, but not having the right clothes to show it off.”
In evaluating the number of nominations for contemporary actresses, for comparison’s sake — in 2016, Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence set a record as the youngest person to earn four nominations at age 25. In 2020, Saoirse Ronan became the second-youngest to earn four nods; she was also 25, but a few months older than Lawrence was at the time of her fourth nomination. Oscar-winner Kate Winslet (who currently has seven nods) was the youngest actress to reach five nominations; she was 31 when she was recognized for 2006’s “Little Children.”
[From Variety]
Viola is always spitting truth. I will never forget that interview where she said “If I am the Black Meryl Streep, then pay me Meryl Streep money.” That was the mic drop heard all over the world and she is right. Hollywood has always engaged in racist practices. I am loving how a lot of Black artists are starting to form their own production companies (like Viola’s JuVee Productions) and platforms (like Ava DuVernay with Array Crew) that give access to Black and Brown film workers. I am firm believer that if we wish to have more opportunities in the film industry, that we will have to create them ourselves. That is what I grew up with seeing with Spike Lee, Eddie Murphy and John Singleton to name a few. I also believe that we will have to force Hollywood’s hand in demanding more representation by boycotting if necessary and withholding our dollars. It would seem folks only respond to money or the lack thereof. I love how Viola stays on Hollywood’s back about the lack opportunities for BIPOC and I love that she is following that up by creating her own damn table. I will continue to stan Viola. She has been a real one these last two decades. I do hope her star continues to rise and that she and her husband create some amazing content.
