Rihanna covers a lot of magazines, but I never find myself fatigued and that’s because she continues to raise the bar, pushing past pretty pictures and aiming for something more interesting. Because Donald Trump and his family are all white supremacist, violent terrorists and melodramatic jackasses, we haven’t spent enough time really enjoying the incoming administration. It’s been sort of amazing over the past seven months to see the LACK of just fluffy PR pieces around Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff in particular. I mean, the first woman to win national office. A Black and Indian woman will be Vice President of the United States, and we’re getting our first-ever “Second Gentleman” with Doug. Doug is a lawyer, he’s Jewish and he’s perfectly content to be the “plus-one” to a powerful cool lady. I’m just excited to see all of it!

Throughout the transition, the Bidens and the Harris-Emhoffs have been on social media, even when their social media presences have been eclipsed by Nazis. Joe Biden has tweeted (or his staff has tweeted) through both @JoeBiden and @Transition46. But there’s a change in Twitter accounts and here we go:

Folks — This will be the account for my official duties as President. At 12:01 PM on January 20th, it will become @POTUS. Until then, I’ll be using @JoeBiden. And while you’re here, follow @FLOTUSBiden @SenKamalaHarris @SecondGentleman and @Transition46.

— President-elect Biden (@PresElectBiden) January 15, 2021

This is basically the workaround because Twitter and the current White House has apparently rejected the idea of simply retaining the current @POTUS followers. On January 20th, the people following @PresElectBiden will simply be moved over to @POTUS. But that’s not even the best part. The best part is that we now have handles for Dr. Jill and “Second Gentleman” Doug. I AM SO EXCITED! I love that he’s using @SecondGentleman. Completely badass.

Just a little Jason Momoa in a lot of pink to take the edge off ? At the #linkinbio the actor discusses his new movie #Dune, masculinity, and more. #jasonmomoa Photographed by @carterbedloesmith Story by: @mrchrisbagley Styled by @jeanneyangstyle Grooming by @glennnutley

Jason Momoa has an absolutely charming interview with InStyle to promote his work in Dune, which he’s pretty jazzed about. I think it’s interesting that the studio sent Momoa to InStyle, a women’s fashion magazine, but it began to make sense as I read the piece. Jason is stylish, he cares about clothes and he loves the color pink and women love him. And he loves women right back. You can read the full piece here. Some highlights:

He loves pink: Momoa greets me in a pair of flowy pink-and-red-striped pants that he had custom-made from a set of French linens… he’s the only guy I’ve met who can build his own motorcycle and ride it to a film première dressed in head-to-toe pink. When I ask him why he’s so fond of pink scrunchies (today he’s wearing two — one in his hair and one on his wrist), he smiles and shrugs. “Pink is just a beautiful color,” he says. “And I’m pretty secure in my masculinity. I don’t really give a sh-t what anyone thinks.”

He was broke after Game of Thrones: “I mean, we were starving after Game of Thrones. I couldn’t get work. It’s very challenging when you have babies and you’re completely in debt.”

On Dune: “[The trailer] was ‘Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem,’ and I’m just like, ‘Oh my god. I can’t believe my name was with those names.’ I feel like I’m still a kid, freaking out… It’s not alien versus alien — it’s about conflicts between human tribes. And greed. It really hits home right now.”

He loves tomahawks. “I’m not a big fan of guns, so I like throwing sharp things. Everyone’s got their own niche!”

Why he recently began therapy: One key goal, he says, is learning how to switch gears when he gets home after 12 hours of filming a fight scene. “I’m amping myself up all day long, and then my nervous system doesn’t know that I’m not lopping people’s heads off. For me to relax and sit still is next to impossible.” On a deeper level, Momoa is exploring what it meant for him to grow up without a father at home and how that affects his relationship with his 12-year-old son, Wolf. “I didn’t know what it takes to be a dad,. And I don’t want to just tell my son, ‘Because I said so.’ I really want to connect, and I want him to be vulnerable and open.”

The warrior with problems: “I mean, I’m a warrior, and I will lay it down. But I’m also the first one to say, ‘I have a lot of problems, and I want to be able to correct those problems.’” And although Momoa is deeply skeptical of those who downplay the biological differences between the sexes (“I mean, we’re f–king men!”), he stresses that “we all have the feminine and the male side in us, and we need to embrace both.”

[From InStyle]

I do love a man in pink, honestly. And I love a dude in therapy, working on his issues, like how to be a better father and how to decompress after work without driving himself crazy. We stan a secure man! I remember that time after Game of Thrones too – he was only in the first season, and it should have made him a HUGE star, but for some reason, studios and directors didn’t know what to do with him. It’s insane that after that kind of star-making performance as Khal Drogo, he couldn’t get a job for like two years, basically.

Brie Larson at arrivals for The 92nd Aca...

Brie Larson has an interview in W Magazine which is just flat-out spon-con for her new beauty contract with Decorte, a Japanese beauty brand. I don’t really find the spon-con of it all that interesting, but I realize that it’s a multi-billion-dollar global industry, so if you care about which Decorte beauty products she uses, you can read all about it here. I found the other stuff more interesting, where she talks about this strange pandemic year and whether or not there are beauty standards. Some highlights:

Pandemic life: “In the beginning of the pandemic, it was very easy for me to just work and work through the weekends. Now, I’ve started winding down once the sun starts to set. The sunset has become a cue to myself to say, ‘Hey it’s time to wrap things up. I’m not going to keep looking at the news, or keep responding to e-mails—I am going to use this time to wind down.”

Nighttime routines, self-care: “It is nerve-wracking. I’ve had to learn how to place more boundaries with work and my self-care. It just feels like everything can be so out of whack. As I mentioned, I have started winding down once the sun starts to set. It’s also my cue to start cooking dinner, go into the garden—that’s how it starts. I’ve been burning frankincense in the house too, because it not only smells great, but it’s great for cleansing the air in the house; it’s anti-microbial. I’ve also been trying to watch a movie every night.

She meditates too: “Sometimes I’ll do some breathing exercises, or I’ll meditate if I’ve had a particularly stressful day. For me, it’s about what can I do that is transitional out of work into decompressing time, because when you’re at home all day I feel it’s very easy to let everything stick and hang on to you. It’s about knowing what’s the routine and what’s the ritual to get out of that.

Even 10 minutes of self-care helps: “Or even a couple of minutes can help! The thing that I’m learning is that even just washing my face, putting on moisturizer, and doing five minutes of breathing exercises can help. I mean, we’re talking about 10 minutes. Before I used to be like, “I don’t have time for self-care.” It doesn’t take as long as we think it does. You can do longer forms—of course, I am a big fan of that—but even for people who feel they are too busy, you can take 10 minutes to do great things for the mind and body.

What she would say to young women having a hard time trying to keep up with standards of beauty: “I don’t believe that there is a beauty standard. I struggled with feeling ugly and like an outcast for so much of my life. And so I really, really feel for that. It took me a long time to be able to be totally comfortable with myself. The thing that has brought me solace is knowing that I can be whoever I want to be with myself. What breaks my heart is to think of people in the world who don’t feel that they have safety within their own bodies. That, to me, is my ultimate goal in life: to do whatever it is that I can so people have the freedom to express themselves and be exactly who it is that they want to be—whatever that is—knowing that that can also change.

[From W Magazine]

Before this interview, I would have said that Brie is probably one of the wokest white celebrities out there, and that she often raises good points in interviews and she uses her privilege for good. But that answer about beauty standards was as tone-deaf as they come! You have brown and black women across the board saying that they feel marginalized by Western beauty standards and Brie saunters along and shrugs, “That problem doesn’t exist, because even I, an attractive white woman, felt ugly once!” Yikes.

As for what she says about self-care… I mean, she’s right, but I also think “self care” as a thing/brand/idea is getting a bit too… general or something? At this point, we’re just saying that taking a shower or watching TV is “self-care.”

Well. Here we are, the last weekend of the Trump presidency. For four years, the world has watched a wealthy New York family led by an immoral patriarch try to ruin a nation. And one of the best shows on television during that time premiered at the midpoint of the administration and happened to be a…

Harry Styles

When Harry Styles appeared on the cover of Vogue last year, the focus was on Harry’s editorial, and the fact that he wore some dresses, skirts and pretty jewelry. I feel like the cover interview didn’t get enough attention though! I read the whole piece and wrote about some excerpts from it, and I feel like I “know” Harry a bit better after that piece. He’s very “soft,” as the kids say. Meaning, he’s very sweet and not into drama and he just seems like a very kind guy who wants to do right by his young fanbase of mostly girls. Which brings me to Harry’s part in the ongoing Olivia Wilde-Jason Sudeikis drama. To hear Team Sudeikis tell it, Olivia dumped him as soon as she started working with Harry, and Team Wilde says nuh-uh, Harry’s not the reason for the split. It’s messy as hell and I feel like Harry really wants no part in it. It goes against his whole peaceful, no-drama vibez. That’s what “sources” are saying too:

Harry Styles is said to be ‘blameless’ as he was told his new girlfriend Olivia Wilde was single before they started dating, amid speculation that the actress argued with her ex Jason Sudeikis over an alleged relationship cross-over.

Earlier this week, insiders told MailOnline that the screen star, 36, and the comedian, 45, split months before the filmmaker and the One Direction star, 26, who went public at his agent’s wedding earlier this month, formed a romance. But sources have now claimed the origins of their bond is reportedly being perceived as a ‘bit of a mess’ among their inner circle, with one telling us: ‘Harry probably wasn’t aware that they broke up in November 2020.’

Another added to The Sun: ‘This looked very Hollywood at first, but it’s a bit of a mess and what actually went on looks very different, depending who you ask. It is understood that Olivia told Harry she was already single when they met, and those close to the situation say he is blameless, despite the controversy around the new couple.’

[From The Daily Mail]

I agree that Harry is pretty “blameless.” I seriously doubt he was the one pursuing Olivia, and I don’t think he would have started up with Olivia if he believed that she was still romantically involved with Jason. Jason’s side has insisted that Olivia didn’t really call off their engagement until she met Harry though. So… hm. There was probably about one month last year where everything was happening, where Olivia and Harry were starting up and THEN she announced the split from Jason. So, yeah, messy. I still think Harry is going to end up checking out of this drama at some point very soon.

Prince Harry and Meghan Duchess of Sussex visit to Dublin, Ireland - 11 Jul 2018

I have cousins, second cousins, extended family members whom I’ve never met or only met a few times, and I would not sell them out or give an interview in which I presumed to know about their lives, or mocked them in any way. You just don’t do that to people in your family. It’s beyond tacky. That’s what I always come back to with the White Markles. They’re beyond trash. By all accounts, Meghan and her father were close as she grew up, and she spent some time with her half-siblings when she was younger. But Samantha “Markle” hasn’t seen or spoken to Meghan in years, in more than a decade. I get that Samantha is an unhinged grifter trying to make some money, but to sell out a family member (whom you have not seen in 13 years) repeatedly in such an emotionally abusive way… Jesus, it makes me sick every time I think about it. Now that Samantha’s dumb “Princess Pushy” book is coming out, “sources” claim Meghan feels sick about it too.

Meghan Markle feels ‘sick to her stomach’ about her half-sister Samantha’s upcoming bombshell memoir, sources have claimed.

Samantha, 56, is set to release the book titled ‘The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister Part 1? in the US next month, after announcing she was writing the memoir in 2016.

According to Barnes & Noble, which is set for release on February 1, the Duchess’ sister promises the 330-page tome will expose ‘hidden truths about her family, as a royal fairy tale plummets from the tea towels’.

Insiders told In Touch the Duchess of Sussex, 39, who is currently living in her $14 million Santa Barbara mansion with Prince Harry, 36, and one-year-old Archie, is upset about the book but ‘won’t act bothered in public.’

[From The Daily Mail]

I think In Touch Weekly doesn’t know sh-t and I think the Daily Mail finds glee in abusing and bullying Meghan. But as I said, if Meghan feels sick to her stomach, that’s a perfectly normal reaction in my book. I just can’t comprehend doing that to someone in my family, or having it done to me. That being said, I am very curious about what Meghan does, if anything. Now that Meghan isn’t being silenced by the palace, will she actually slap down delusional Samantha? Hm.

In the Gossip With Celebitchy podcast coming out on Sunday, Kaiser and I talk about the fact that many of the Capitol siege terrorists were put on the No Fly List, thanks to the work of the flight attendants’ union. Here are links to some of my favorite videos of them screaming and crying as they’re denied access to fly. There was the guy who yelled “they called me a terrorist” and cried pitifully and another guy screamed “you’re treating like a black person” as he got arrested. (There’s another video from November of a mother who was disorderly and didn’t follow covid protocols on a flight screaming and yelling as she and her kids got dragged away. That was was incorrectly attributed as a #NoFlyList video but I still felt oddly satisfied watching it.)

Given all the grief Trumpers and ant-maskers (the same people) are inflicting on flight staff and fellow passengers, the FAA is implementing very stiff fines and penalties for being disruptive on flights. FAA Chief Steve Dickson has announced a “zero tolerance policy” with possible jail time and fines up to $35k for passengers who don’t abide by the rules.

U.S. Federal Aviation Administration chief Steve Dickson has ordered a strict “zero tolerance policy” for disruptive airline passengers in the wake of several incidents occurring on flights in and out of Washington, D.C., around the riots at the U.S. Capitol.

Dickson, 63, told Reuters that the order, which he signed on Wednesday, will last through March 30 and will punish disruptive passengers with a fine of up to $35,000 and possible jail time. Airlines have been briefed about the new policy, Dickson said.

“We’ve seen a disturbing increase in these incidents…. We’ll take the strongest possible enforcement action against any passenger who engages in it,” he told Reuters.

According to Dickson, the FAA could refer cases for criminal prosecution to the Justice Department, which could seek sentences of up to 20 years for unruly passengers who create unsafe conditions on board.

[From People]

There are videos from a flight from DC to Phoenix last Friday, filled with terrorists from Trump’s rally, chanting USA and getting told by the pilot he would divert them if they didn’t stop. Of course a bunch of them refused to wear masks. It happened on a flight from DC to San Francisco after the siege too. This is so dangerous and disruptive, but that’s what these people do. I hope the airlines really do enforce mask wearing and adopt a no tolerance policy for this type of behavior. These people do it because they’ve gotten away with it for so long. They were able to storm the Capitol Building and raid Congressional offices with no immediate consequences. Of course they think that they don’t have to wear masks on a plane and that they can bully people. I’d like to see them get jail time and huge fines. You know they’re going to whine and cry that they’re being persecuted.

The image at the top of this post is of Siggy Flicker, she’s a huge MAGA and is on RHONJ. She regrammed a video of Trump supporters being disruptive on a plane to the siege and called it patriotic, but claims she wasn’t on that plane and didn’t go to DC. She also instagrammed photos from the siege with the #freedom hashtag. I hope Bravo cans her ass.
